BARTON -- Wendy L. Barton, age 48, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died on Sunday July 18, 2004. Survivors include her husband, Cary R. Barton, of Albuquerque; five daughters, Shandy Lynn, Cari Renee, Kelly Lynn, Angela Marie, and May; three sons, William Dale, Bob Lee II, and Bradley Keith; two brothers, Glenn B., Gary D. and his wife Susan; one brother-in-law, Casey C. and his wife Donna G.; and 13 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Laird S. Wood in May 1986, and mother June Parr in May 2004. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Blvd NE, with Fr. Robert Nagiel officiating. BEACH -- William Pearce Beach, 89, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital after a brief illness. Pearce was born on May 27, 1915 in Augusta, Georgia. He spent his early years in Needles, California and graduated from high school in Silver Springs, Maryland in 1932. He moved to New Mexico to attend the University of New Mexico, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. There he met Vivian Kronig. They married in 1942 in Belen, New Mexico. Peace served as a 1st Lieutenant in United States Army during World War II after which he and Vivian made their home in Belen. He worked at the Ford-Mercury dealership in Belen for over 25 years. Pearce was a member of the Belen Rotary Club for over 50 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also active in the Belen Boy Scout Troop for many years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award. Pearce was preceded in death by his wife Vivian, who passed away in 1996. Pearce is survived by three sons and their families. Arthur Beach, his wife Alex and their son Eric, all of Albuquerque. Davis Beach and his wife Amelia of Tyrone, New Mexico, and his daughter, Vivian Woodley and her three children, Jeremy, Samantha, and Amanda of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Richard Beach and his wife Dorothy and their daughter, Melisa all of Albuquerque. Pearce lived in Belen until 2000 when he moved to the Vista del Rio Retirement Community in Albuquerque. He will be buried next to his beloved wife at the Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Pallbearers will be his three sons and three grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held. BRODBECK -- George John, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2004, from a short battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly; daughters Julie Brodbeck and husband Rodger McGimsey, Barrie Benson, Georgia Artery and husband Dave Artery; grandchildren, Michael Brodbeck, Chad Keaty, and Jaclyn Keaty; and many special friends. He is predeceased by his daughter, Diane Brodbeck; and parents, George Sr. and Daisy Brodbeck. George was born in New Castle, PA on April 2, 1922 and graduated from New Castle High School in 1941. In 1962, he moved his family to Albuquerque where he worked for ACF Industries and retired from General Electric in December 1983. He was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church and a Life Member of Elks Lodge #461. George and Polly enjoyed many wonderful trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin and would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Aug. 30, 2004. He loved playing golf with his children and grandchildren. In his younger years, he was quite a trumpet player and loved big band music. George had a very quick wit about him and was so much fun to be around. We will miss him dearly. Thank you to all his doctors and special thanks to all the wonderful and caring people at the Kaseman Hospice Program. Memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul NE, on July 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kaseman Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

CHAVEZ -- Mrs. Ramona Chavez, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on July 17, 2004. Mrs. Chavez is the beloved mother to Louise Chavez Oroszo, Art Chavez, Albert Chavez and wife, Julie, Louie Chavez and wife, Rio, John Chavez and wife, Nora, and Beatrice Chavez. Mrs. Chavez is also survived by ten grandchildren, Joey, Gareth, Rick, Bobby, Christina, Patrick, Anita, Monica, Raphael, and Stephanie; ten great-grandchildren, Daniel, Dominic, Alex, Melanie, Nathaniel, Lea, Aliyah, Kayle, Dylan, and Sarah; five brothers; seven sisters; three sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique (Henry) Chavez. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Chavez will be Wednesday evening, July 21, 2004 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1800 Griegos NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. ELDRIDGE -- Erleen "Tootsie" Eldridge was born May 3, 1936, and passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the age of 68. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sam; children, Kay and husband, Dan Buckholz, and Lee Eldridge and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Scott and wife, Beverly Buckholz, Brian and wife, Mitzi Dugan, La Wanda and husband, Winky Hadden, Amber and Audrea Eldridge; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Shayla Buckholz, Taidon Dugan, Gracie and Emalee Hadden; several nieces and nephews; and a special closeness for Leeann and Margaret Ann Goke. ESCOUBE -- Charlotte Bahlke Escoube, a/k/a Charlotte Stanley, died in Albuquerque on July 15. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 17, 1925, and graduated from the University of Chicago High School and received the Bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona. She was a member of the Alpha Phi and Delta Kappa Gamma sororities and was, for many years a member of the Presbyterian Church in Grants. Charlotte had a very gratifying 33 year career teaching English and Civics in middle and high schools, mostly in Grants, but also in Denver, Cripple Creek and Victor, Colorado. She is survived by her husband, William; and brothers, W. Herbert Bahlke of Boise, Idaho and George Bahlke and his wife Felicity of Clinton, New York; and by nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by Charles F. Stanley, her husband from 1946 to 1989. She is remembered for her ever loving kindness to her family, friends and the many appreciative students she had over her long teaching career. Cremation has taken place. At the request of the deceased, there will be no memorial service. No memorials or flowers, please.

FEEZOR -- John G. Feezor, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died on Saturday July 11, 2004. Mr. Feezor was born on February 11, 1928 to Conrad Feezor and Nanny Skeen in Kansas. Survivors include one nephew, Daris C. France and his wife, Joan; and one niece, Nancy I. Baker and her husband, Ray, all of Washington state. LOVATO -- Rubel A. Lovato, age 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father and Savior, on Monday, July 19, 2004, while surrounded by his loving family. Rubel was a life long resident of Cuba, NM; and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on cars in his spare time; as well as cruising the town in his truck with the love of his life, Alice. He was preceded in death by a son, Dickie Lovato. Rubel is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice Lovato of the family home; his children, Randy Lovato and wife Rose, John Lovato and wife Ann both of Albuquerque, Todd Lovato and wife Antonette of Rio Rancho, Marcella Pena and husband Peter of Santa Fe, and Elizabeth Pena and husband Floyd of Cuba; daughter-in-law, Marcella Lovato; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Nettie and Dora; nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends. Rubel will be greatly missed by his loving family. LOYA -- Rafael "El Viejito" passed away on Sunday morning, July 18, 2004. He was born in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico and resided in New Mexico for over thirty-five years, where he was a resident of Los Lunas for over Twenty years. He and Ruben Melendez, whom he loved like a son, shared a passion for gardening. El Viejito was especially known for his green chili crop. he was a kind and gentle man that refused no one a warm meal and was more than willing to give a helping hand to those in need. His final words were declarations of love to his family and friends. He was by all means a friend to everyone and stranger to no-one. He is preceded in death by his son. Luis Octavio Loya. Survived by his daughters Margarita Deyo, Yvonne Loya, Amie Giron and husband Ramey. Son Julio Loya and wife Jamita. MASSEY -- Robert Scott Massey, 58, was born on Wednesday, March 6, 1946 in Detroit, MI. He died on Thursday, July 15, 2004 near his home in Cochiti Canyon. Scott grew up in Albuquerque and attended the Albuquerque Academy before serving in the army. He attended Oberlin College in Ohio, and St. John's University in Santa Fe. Scott was a free spirit, who was pulled by his passion for sailing, and his love of Cochiti Canyon. He used the strength and grace of his hands to create amazing beauty in whatever he undertook. As a jeweler, he created unique styles of turquoise mosaic, wood and stone inlays. As a master carpenter, he worked for Taos furniture from 1977 to 1983 and developed a number of designs for that company, as well as for his own customers. He hand built wooden boats and dreamed of sailing down the Atlantic coast. As a building contractor, he built or renovated dozens of homes, using the same gift for design, woodworking skill and meticulous care that characterized all he did. He showered his family with affection and kindness, and was loved for his life-long pursuit of knowledge, his incredible work ethic, and his youthful spirit. We will miss his amazing smile, the depth of his eyes and his infectious laugh. He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Melinda Massey, of Cochiti Canyon, NM; his parents, Dr. Robert and Mrs. June Massey, of Avon, CT; his sister, Janet Massey of Avon, CT; his son, Dr. Jonathan Massey Taylormoore, and his wife, Melissa of Falls Church, VA; his daughter, Rachel Idris Massey, and her husband, Will of Santa Fe, NM; his son, Cadet James Joshua Hall, of West Point, NY; and his niece, Melissa Massey Morgan, and her husband, Peter of Middletown, CT. POLITO -- Anthony V. Polito, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, July 17, 2004. He is survived by his sons, Robert A. Polito of Albuquerque and Roy E. Polito and wife, Sheri of Portland, OR; brother, Leo Polito and wife, Rose of Rock Island, IL; sister, Mary Wheiler of Sherrard, IL; grandchildren, Erin Deutsch and husband, Josh of Cincinnati, OH, Ryan Scribner and Katie Scribner, both of Portland, OR; and great-grandchild, Alexander Deutsch of Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Polito was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Polito in 1991. He served in WWII and belonged to the American Legion Post #13, the 40-8 and the VFW Post 401. Mr. Polito was very active in the community. He loved people, laughter, playing the accordion and was an avid bowler. Shaum and wife, Deborah; 10 grandchildren; sister, Beulah Murl Gemoets and husband, Tex; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, De Etta Whatley. Born June 11, 1921 in Las Vegas, NM. Richard joined the navy in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1948 with the rank of Aviation Chief Electronic Technician's Mate. He then pursued a career in southern California where he met and married Betty Lou Bridges in 1953. They moved to Albuquerque in 1954 to accept positions at Sandia National Laboratories where Richard worked for the next 32 years. During his many years he faithfully ministered to people in nursing homes and rescue missions, and served as an elder at Highland Assembly of God Church. Following his retirement in 1986 he traveled extensively to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Richard is fondly remembered as a gentle tease, handyman, creator of limericks and novelties, and rescuer of lost golf balls and coins. Services pending. SMITH -- Mary Smith, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Everett Smith; son, Kenneth Smith of Albuquerque; daughters, Lola Compton and husband, Don of Santa Fe, NM and Mary Helen Garrrison and husband, Ward of Solano, NM; grandchildren, Jonathan Compton of Albuquerque and Dawnya Fode and husband, Nikolas of Santa Fe, NM; great-granddaughter, Natasha Fode; brother, Ben Smith and wife, Betty of Springfield, MO; sister, Elda Peterson and husband, Edwin of Louisburg, MO; and many other family members and friends. Mary and Everett married in March, MO in 1942. She was a pastor's wife and was the heart and soul of every church they were in. They pastored churches in Mt. Shasta, CA, Lordsburg, NM, Socorro, NM and then in Albuquerque for the last 53 years. Her family and the church were her whole life. THEILER-BRADY -- Gladys Mary (Jackie)Theiler-Brady, a resident of New Mexico since 1950, was carried to heaven on July 18, 2004, by God's holy angels. On earth she was a lady; now in heaven she has found her place. The angels sing sweet songs to her in the presence of God's holy face. She was born in Moline, IL, and also lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Kentucky. Gladys married her first husband, Ray Theiler, June 13th 1936, in Louisville, KY. They had seven children. In 1950 they relocated to Belen, New Mexico. Ray passed away in 1956. She married her second husband, Andrew Brady, April 25, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM. Andrew passed away in 1990. While living in Belen, she was a member of the St. Monica's Catholic Group. After she moved to Albuquerque, she tutored elementary school children who had reading problems. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend-and loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Claire Sears McElhatton Hawkes and her father, Dallas Engstrom Hawkes; five brothers, Dallas, James, Donald and Harold (twins), and Keith; her late husband, Andrew Brady; her first husband, Raymond Paul Theiler Sr.; infant son, John Daniel Theiler. She is survived by four sons, Raymond Paul (Skip) Theiler Jr.; Jim Theiler and wife, Laurie; Jerry Theiler and wife, Christie; Mike Theiler and wife, Sharon, all of Albuquerque; two daughters, Nancy Summet and husband, Jim, of Yakima, WA; Marilyn Feldman and husband, Frank, of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Ruth McGuire, of Albuquerque; sister-in-laws, Agnes Kaufman, of Louisville, KY and Bertie Skvara, of Cleveland, OH; numerous nieces and nephews- and one special nephew, Gene. She had 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Sharon Theiler and Kris Drake for taking care of our mother in her home, and to the staff at Valle Norte Caring Center for their loving care during the last 18 months of her life. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. TOKARZ -- Riley R. Tokarz, beloved husband and father, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the age of 86. He was born in Fall River, MA, the son of Mary and Ignacy Tokarz. Mr. Tokarz is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; two sons, Richard and Stephen; one daughter, Cynthia Wright and her husband, Lance, and their two sons, Noah and Sage. The arrival of Noah and Sage made Riley and Shirley proud grandparents. Riley is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Considine and his brothers, Ted, Joseph and Fred Tokarz. Riley graduated from Louisiana State University. After graduation he entered the military, served in World War II as an officer in the Air Force, and after the war he continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves until he retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Riley and his family have lived in Albuquerque for many years during which time he owned and managed Sunland Decorator Supply with his son, Stephen. Riley enjoyed sports, especially tennis, which he and Shirley played into their mid-seventies. He also enjoyed the outdoors and frequently took his family on fishing trips. Throughout his life Riley was a devoted husband and father and lived an honorable life with integrity and love. Services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. VIGIL -- Manueltia B. (Mela) Vigil, age 92 and a resident of Albuquerque for 74 years, passed away on Friday July 16, 2004. She is survived by her son, Rudy Vigil and his wife, Perla of Juniper Hills, CA; a brother, Florencio Baca of Albuquerque; a sister Adelia Mesa of CA; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emiliano Vigil; son, Fermin Vigil; and daughter, Diane Kulis. Mrs. Vigil was a member of the Eucharist Paterity of the Blessed Sacrament and member and past president of the Secular Order of Mount Carmel. A rosary was recited Monday evening, July 19, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. WALRAVEN -- Louise Walraven, age 79, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday July 18, 2004. She was born on April 11, 1925 to William Jahn and Chloe McEhaney, in Norman, OK. She moved to Albuquerque when she was three years old. Survivors include one son, Warren Jahn; one sister, Evelyn Marrow and her husband, Darrel; one brother, Ernest Jahn and his wife, Nancy, all of Albuquerque; two twin grandsons Mark and Bruce Jahn; one great-grandchild, Allan Jahn; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very close friends, Vada and Carmen. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fowler Walraven; her mother, Chloe Jahn; and her father, William Jahn. Mrs. Walraven enjoyed sewing, canning, crocheting, and probably has crocheted enough afghans to cover the town. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2004 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary.
