BACA -- Doroteo R. "D.R." Baca peacefully joined our Lord, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Adelino, NM He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel A. and Leocadia Baca; his brothers, Ramon Baca and Edwin Berry; his daughter-in-law, Susan M. Baca; and brothers-in-law Placido Padilla and Santiago Marquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carmen Bernal Baca of the family home in Adelino; his daughter, Elizabeth M. Baca of Adelino; his seven sons, Ramon and his wife, Cecilia, Arnold, all of Adelino, Patricio and his wife, Annie of Albuquerque, Angelo and his wife, Judy of Adelino, Jacob, George and his wife, Elizabeth all of Albuquerque and Charles and his wife, Mary Margaret of Adelino. He is also survived by twenty one grandchildren & thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Gladio I. "Lalo" and his wife, Consuelo, and Max T. and his wife, Theresa all of Adelino; Two sisters, Crisanta Padilla of Tome, and Filomena and her husband, Jose U. Otero of Peralta; sisters-in-law, Emma B. Marquez and Assunta Berry both of Adelino. Doroteo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served under General Patton and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded by shrapnel while acting as a Scout. Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart and began his career in farming and ranching. He was actively involved in the Farm Bureau, Sheriff's Posse, VFW and the Republican Party. He was appointed U.S. Marshall for NM in 1969 and honorably served for 12 years. He retired and returned full-time to farming and ranching, which he loved dearly. All services will take place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with a rosary immediately following. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. with an interment immediately following at the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Michael Flowers, Bobby and Adam Baca, Joseph Gallegos, David, Jonathon, and Christopher Baca. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Jordan Baca and Steven Flowers. BACA -- D. Roy Baca, 52, of Los Angeles, CA and formerly of Socorro, NM passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at Cedars-Sanai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is survived by his parents, Eliazim V. and Julia (Gonzales) Baca of Socorro; brother, David R. (Rick) Baca and wife, Diana of Socorro; nephews, Noel R. Baca and wife, Kimberly of Seattle, WA and Daniel Baca of Socorro; niece, Erlinda Baca of Socorro; grandnephews, Michael R. Baca of Socorro and Ryan C. Baca of Seattle; grandniece, Katrina of Socorro; and a friend and companion of many years, Mario Hernandez of Los Angeles. Mr. Baca was a graduate of UNM and UNM School of Law. He had been an employee of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Administrator of National Banks, the past 27 years and at the time of his death was serving as Fiduciary Trust Lead Expert. Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home. Interdenominational funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. at Steadman-Hall with Rev. Jacinto Alderete officiating. Interment will be in the Socorro Cemetery. BINNS -- Matthew G. Binns, a resident of Denver, CO, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2004. He is survived by his parents, Glen and Jean Binns of Albuquerque; a sister, Terri Binns of Sugar Land, TX; and brothers, Erik and Royce; his wife, Adriana; and two sons, Andrew and Thomas, all residents of Albuquerque. FINLEY -- Wallace R. Finley, 78, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at home Tuesday, February 17, 2004 after a long battle with a rare bone marrow disease. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lena; one daughter, Janie Reynolds and her husband, Oliver; two sons, Glen and his wife, Joy and Greg and his wife, Catherine; one brother, Olan and his wife, Sue; one sister, Connie Golightly and her husband, Willie; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. FRANCO -- Manuel Reyes Franco, 67, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 12 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2004. Manuel was born October 18, 1936 the son of Sotero and Casimira Reyes Franco in Mexico. He had worked in landscaping for the Holiday Inn of Las Cruces before retiring. He came to Albuquerque from Las Cruces. Manuel is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Chon Franco of Las Cruces, NM, Pat Franco of Corona, CA, Mary Campos of Las Cruces, NM, Julie Tapia of Rio Rancho, NM, Vera Garza of Corona, CA, Jesse Franco of Rio Rancho, NM, and Mary Moreno of Paris, CA; also numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends from the Albuquerque Grand Senior Living Staff and residents. The Visitation for Manuel will be held on Friday, February 20, 2004 from 4 PM to 8 PM in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. GALLEGOS -- Mrs. Caroline (Lilly) Vigil Gallegos, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1942, passed away on February 16, 2004. Mrs. Gallegos is survived by one daughter, Alicia Joanne Barron; three sons, David Joseph Gallegos and wife, RoseAnne, Jerry Anthony Gallegos and wife, Anita, Gilbert Lee and wife, Angelica; one brother, Candido Vigil and wife, Marie; six grandchildren, Joseph, Celianna, Carlos, Jerry Ray, Steve and Armand; seven great grandchildren, Michael, Katarina, Victoria, Vincent, Francesca, Dante and Rebekka; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Gallegos was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Manuel (Joseph M.) Gallegos and her son, Raymond Eugene. Mrs. Gallegos was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She was born in Clayton, NM and graduated from Clayton High School and made her First Communion in Buyeros and was also married in Clayton, N.M. in July, 1943. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Daniel Balizan, presider. GAUNA -- Robert (Ted) Gauna, 58, passed away on February 17, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Vaughn, NM on September 29, 1945 to Willie and Josephine Apodaca Gauna. He lived in Hobbs, NM for 25 years and owned Ted's Auto Electric. In 1991 he moved to Albuquerque and owned Aircon Services for 10 years. Ted was a respected businessman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Gauna; his father, Willie Gauna; siblings, William, Jr., Edward, Steven A. and Jeanne. He is survived by his mother, Josephine Gauna; children, Steve Gauna and wife, Alisa and Sandy Rodriguez and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan and Shyanne Rodriguez, Jarred, Shannia, and Selysia Gauna. GOODMAN -- Manuel Goodman, 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1935, died Saturday, February 14, 2004. GREEN -- Gardner Blane "Bo" Green, 79, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Rome, Georgia, and was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After getting out of the service, he moved to Port Huron, Michigan. There he met his wife, Leona, and was married on October 18, 1952. In 1964 the family moved to Albuquerque and recently moved to Bosque Farms. He had worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 24 years when he retired in 1990. Along with his wife, he had a love of traveling in their motorhome. It was while on one of their trips that he died. He is survived by his loving wife, Leona; his son, Doug Green and his wife Pam of Spring, TX; his daughters, Pam Dellinger of Albuquerque and Susan Coatney and her husband Rich, of Bosque Farms; four granddaughters, Jenny and Nicole of Albuquerque and Trisha and Kristin of Spring, TX; three sisters, Lucille Mixon of Shelby, MI, Nell Babjack of Clinton, MI, and Marie Chinnici of Cuspamonee, HI; numerous nieces and nephews; and his devoted dog, Josie. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Green in November 2001. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Bosque Farms Church of Christ on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with minister Wayne Sharp officiating. JONES -- Lloyd W. Jones, 74, passed away surrounded by his family at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque on February 16, 2004. Lloyd was born on May 1, 1929 in Wellington, Texas to Andrew and Jewell Jones. The family was all descendants of early settlers of the Texas Panhandle. In 1942, the family moved to a farm south of Portales, New Mexico. Lloyd attended and graduated from Portales High School. He met his wife of 54 years, Etolia Jones, in Portales, and the high school sweethearts married in October of 1949. Lloyd worked as a telephone lineman and an electrician for the majority of his life in Portales, NM, Wilcox, AZ and Ruidoso, NM before moving to Albuquerque in 1981. He worked in apartment management and for a number of years at the U.S. DOE Central Training Academy's Live Fire Range. He was a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque. His parents and one brother preceded Lloyd in death. He is survived by his wife, Etolia; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Charles Fagan of Albuquerque; a son and daughter-in-law, Col. (Ret.) Guy and Gail Jones of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Mr. Burrell Jones of Tulia, Texas; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Lou Fry of Lubbock, Texas. KARASKIEWICZ -- Mr. Sigmund J. Karaskiewicz (Siggy), 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 after a brief illness and with a severely broken heart. Siggy is now in the presence of the Lord and his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary, who preceded him in death by just 39 days. Siggy is survived by his son, Ronald Karaskiewicz, and wife, Dana; three granddaughters, Jennifer Orth and husband, Jim of Kansas City, MO; Lara who is living in San Francisco, CA; and Susan of Albuquerque; his son, Paul Karr of Colorado Springs, CO; and one great-grandson, Joe Orth. Mr. Karaskiewicz will not be remembered in history books, but the world has indeed lost a quiet hero and a real man. Siggy was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 13, 1915 into a turn-of-the-century Polish immigrant family. His family moved to Buffalo, NY to seek work but during the Great Depression he left home as a teenager to work in the Tennessee Valley water project, sending his paychecks home to support his family. With the outbreak of WWII he joined the Army and proudly served as a crypto-qualified radio operator, participating in the invasion of Okinawa. After the war, Siggy spent several years working for General Motors, eventually purchasing a business unit from GM and converting it into a family owned and operated business, United Electric Motors in Buffalo. After retiring and selling the business, Siggy and Mary moved to Albuquerque to be close to their granddaughters. Restless in retirement, he found work with National Car Rental as a part-time driver. He loved working at National because of the friends he made there and for the opportunity to see the southwest. He retired from National at the age of 85. After his second retirement, Siggy loved to play a little poker, enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and made an occasional trip to the casinos. Throughout his life Siggy was known for his integrity, his honesty and his values. He was a guiding light, and he will be missed. MONTGOMERY -- Romenia M. Montgomery, 42, loving wife, mother, and friend, and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, February 15, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Steve Montgomery; sons, James and Kevin Montgomery; daughter, Shannon Montgomery; mother, Maria Monget of Albuquerque; sister, Toni Harris and husband, Glynn of Albuquerque; brothers, John Monget and wife, Loretta of Albuquerque and Ralph Monget and wife, Alicia of Las Cruces; mother and father-in-law, Grant and Teddy Montgomery of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Mark Montgomery and wife, Pat of Norman, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph R. Monget on May 10, 2001. Romenia was born in Albuquerque and graduated from Manzano High School. She attended UNM. Romenia was very active with her children and friends in their schools and church. She was always there for her family and friends. Romenia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Believers Center of Albuquerque. NYQUIST -- Vivian Eleanor Harris Nyquist, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, was called home to be with Our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 15, 2004. She was born May 14, 1916 in her grandparent's home in Manhattan, Kansas to Madge and Leo Harris. Her childhood was exciting and well traveled as her parents separated when she was young. She grew up on the farm with her grandparents and when she was 14 years old, she moved to Tucumcari, NM, and then on to Laramie, Wyoming settling with her father, stepmother Leatha and sisters Wynona, Delores and Nadine. Vivian's true loves were her "great" grandchildren, pets and her painting. Between Vivian and her husband Oscar, they rescued hundreds of dogs and cats, including the live Lobo mascots in the 1960's. She traveled with Oscar to Europe for his extended military tour in the 50's with their daughter Kristina. After returning home, they settled down, spent time at the Colorado family ranch, and passing on traditional values to their daughter and enjoyed their grandchildren, born while they were in Europe. She passed on her love for the care of pets to her children and grandchildren, and taught her grandkids how to paint. She leaves behind a legacy of her love for painting and other crafts skills she passed on to Kris, and her grandchildren. Her humor was sparked quickly, and she always had an infectious laugh. She is survived by her special "SWEETIE" and companion of four years, Sam Lerner; brother, Leslie Harris of Washington his wife Sibylle, and his daughters Sheryl, Debbie and Belinda; sister, Delores Crout of Wyoming, and her children Billy, Mike, Marilyn, Jeannie and Leo; daughter, Deanna Jungerman, husband Jimmy of Dallas, TX; Deanna's daughter Tresa Coker, her husband David of Dallas, TX, son Michael Jackson, and stepson Jimmy "Bubba" Jr of Arizona; daughter, Kristina A. PARKER -- Lloyd "Roy" Parker, 64, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Parker of Albuquerque; son, Dwight Parker and wife, Starla of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Debra Parker of Minnesota; step-sons, Robert Halvorsen of Kentucky, and Tom Sifford and wife, Kim of University Place, WA; step-daughters, Lisa Sifford of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Michele Rhone and husband, Reggie of Bertrand, NE and Sherri Campbell and husband, Robbie of Talcott, WV; adoptive daughter, Ingrid "Nikkii" Smedley and husband, Brian of Sidney, OH; two grandsons, Christopher and Tyler; step-grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Emily, Ashlee, Jennifer, Zachary, Bert, Angelica, Michael, Marissa, Dustin, Bradley, Eric Savanah, Michael, Cody; brother, Ray Parker and wife, Stella of Garfield, KS; sisters, Doris Redinger and husband, Darwin of Hutchinson, KS, Delores Maxson of Bullhead City, AZ, and Talma Miller and husband, Elmer of Great Bend, KS. Roy retired from Halliburton 10 years ago where he was a drill-stem tester, he also retired from the Golden Nugget in Laughlin in 1998. He was in the US Air Force Band while serving in the Air Force, 1961 to 1969. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Rev. PETERS -- Halcyon Belle Waterbury Peters died in her Albuquerque home on February 14, 2004, at the age of 96. Halcyon was born in Utica, NY, in 1907. As an only child, "Halcy," as she was always called, learned to love music, reading and writing from her grandmother, "Muddie," who reared her. After moving to Cleveland with her grandmother, Halcy received her B.A. in education from Case Western Reserve University and, later, her Master's in Special Education from San Francisco State. After marrying and moving to the Chicago area, she taught history in high school. She later became a resource teacher for the blind when Illinois mandated that blind and sighted students be taught together, in the same school, not in separate ones. After retiring from teaching, she was employed as a proofreader for a local Des Plaines newspaper. She and her husband retired to Albuquerque in 1980. She was married to H. Frederick "Ricky" Peters for 55 years. He was an Episcopal Deacon, and he died in 1995. Halcy assisted Deacon Peters in conducting services at local nursing homes, especially La Vida Llena. She enjoyed playing the piano and painting and belonged to the New Mexico Art League. She particularly liked celebrating holidays and even showed this at the end of her life. She had dressed all in red for St. Valentine's Day before she died. Halcy is survived by three daughters, Carol Klossner and her husband, Kurk; Jilea (Jill) Lee, and Sally Douglas, all of the Albuquerque area; four grandchildren, Shaw Patterson and his wife, Dana, of Kodiak, Alaska; Linda Haese of Phoenix, Arizona; Roy Burt and his wife, Sandi, of Sandia Park, New Mexico; and Heather DiMarzio and her husband, Albert, of Jacksonville, Florida; and eight great-grandchildren. Halcy is also survived by four cats, her "kitty children," which were a great comfort to her. She was very active in St. Mary's Episcopal Church and its St. Elizabeth's Guild, and she also had attended St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church. A celebration of Halcy's life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park NE (near Indian School), Albuquerque. POE -- Richard Aulta Poe of Albuquerque, New Mexico died of natural causes on February 10, 2004 after a brief illness. He was born September 14, 1913 to Arletta McCurdy and Samuel Aulta Poe in Hutchinson, Kansas. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on May 8, 1934, displaying a distinguished career that included earning the Silver Star and the Purple Heart, and was honorably discharged on November 1,1947. He then attended the University at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA, and worked as a physicist at Sandia National Laboratories from 1951-1967. His affiliations included Disabled American Veterans and Veterans for Peace. He married Virginia Inez Bragdon on July 3, 1941 in Bethesda, MD and was divorced in 1960. He married Mary Jane McNeil on April 9, 1966, in Juarez, Mexico, with whom he lived happily for the remainder of his life. He is survived by wife, Mary Jane Poe; son, Terry Poe; daughters, Leslie Poe, Audie McNeil, and Leilani Fisher; and six grandchildren, all of who will carry him in their hearts and memories. They continued to live in Aberdeen for a few years before moving to Mobridge, where he was employed as a juvenile probation officer and chief of police. They lived in several towns in South Dakota before he entered the U.S. Army on September 4, 1974. He served as military police. He was honorably discharged on December 18, 1984.

ROBERTSON -- Volney Dean "Bud" Robertson Jr., born January 21, 1929 passed away February 15, 2004. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico preceded in death by his parents, Volney Dean and Jane Robertson; and two sons Lawrence and Jeffery. Bud is survived by Betty, his wife of 54 years, and two sons David L. Robertson and Bradley J. Robertson and wife Jessica, a daughter Vicki Husbands, ten grandchildren; Wendy and Jeffrey Robertson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Holly Topliss of Louisville, Colorado, Amber Robertson of Belen, New Mexico, Kelly and Jennifer Robertson of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, John Easley of Estancia, New Mexico, James Patrick and Jason Husbands of Bosque , New Mexico, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Dudley Morrow of Grants, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Robertson's two great loves were his family and aviation. He worked for Cutter Flying Service for 24 years and in 1975 opened a general aviation maintenance facility named Robertson Aircraft, Inc. at the Albuquerque International Sunport. In 1969 he was chosen the Federal Aviation Administrations General Aviation Technician of the Year for the Southwest Region. He received many awards during his 52 years of service to aviation, the most recent occurred in 2003, when he received the Charles E. Taylor Award for 50 years active service in aviation. He enjoyed all the people his met through his work in aviation and he had a great deal of pride knowing how many aircraft he kept in the air. Now he has embarked on his most important and highest flight. Bon Voyage, Bud, we love you. SHELDON -- Thomas Churchill Sheldon was born on June 20, 1930 in Hancock, MI and died on February 15, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a kind and loving husband, friend and father who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Sheldon; children, Mary Elizabeth Gonzales and husband Louie of Cedar Crest, NM, and Mark Thomas Sheldon and wife, Suzy of Reno, NV; five grandsons, Matt, Zane, TJ, Kale and Jaylen; sister, Alice Sheldon of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Churchill and Josephine (Coughlin) Sheldon; brothers, Stephen and David Sheldon; sisters, Eleanor Sheldon, Elizabeth Sheldon Maloney, Mary Sheldon Bentley and Julianne Sheldon Sheehan. Tom moved with his family to Salt Lake City, UT at the age of five. He proudly served his country on the battlefield while he was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Tom was student body president and graduated from Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a BS in Accounting. He had a fulfilling 34 year career with Del Monte Food Corporation in San Francisco, CA. Tom was a founding member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Edgewood, where he attended until his passing. He had a beautiful Irish tenor voice and sang in numerous choirs during his life. Tom was also very active in the Del Monte Credit Union serving on their Board of Directors from 1979 until 1990. Celebration of his life will be held Friday, February 20, 2004, 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 367 State Road 344, in Edgewood, with a meal with the family afterwards. SILVER -- Sylvia Silver, 86, a resident of Albuquerque for 21 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, after a brief illness. Sylvia was a longtime employee of The Town House Dress Shoppe. Sylvia will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of style, wealth of movie trivia and her beautiful singing voice. WRIGHT -- Kenneth Dale Wright (known to all his friends and family as Kenny) passed away on February 17, 2004, at the age of 57. Kenny was born in Marysville, Ca., to Johnnie and Nadeane Wright. Kenny, always an entrepreneur and always with his partner and friend of 36 years, Arthur Walker by his side, had a variety of interests and were involved in many undertakings. The duo owned a night club called ALFALFA 'S, a favorite hangout of young people in the 1970's, and introduced such musicians as Willie Nelson to Albuquerque night club audiences. He was always the visionary and brought other musicians to perform in his establishments, many have gone on to become famous in their fields. He owned and operated other very popular dining places in Albuquerque, such as the Rio Grande Cantina, and for a time operated the Conchas Lodge at Conchas Lake, New Mexico. Kenny was a collector of fine art and antique cars. Always the artist his establishments were always decorated with interesting pieces of sculpture and paintings. He elegantly framed and displayed such items as antique burlap potato sacks and they became objects of art and topics of conversation. One of the bronze sculptures he owned and displayed in his business establishment was of Pancho Villa, who was an important and relevant figure in the history of his father's family. Kenny was an artist of great skill and made many of the handsome and elegant posters he used in advertising his establishments. Kenny is survived by his wife of 19 years, Magda Garcia Wright; and his daughter, Marisol. Kenny is also survived by his father, Johnnie E. Wright of Belen, New Mexico; brother, Johnnie Rhea Wright of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Vivian Pool of Carlsbad, California, and Charlotte Newbill of Coppell, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenny would be proud if his many friends made contributions to their favorite charities in his memory.
