FOULK -- Frank Foulk Jr., 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 41 years, passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital on Friday, February 13, 2004. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, L.V., of 55 years. He is survived by one brother, Ellsworth of Illinois; two daughters, Sharon Bradshaw and husband, Greg, and Deborah Tatum and husband, Vernon; three grandchildren, Russell, Randall, and Amanda. Two great grandchildren, Ashlea and Jessyca. He was a WWII Veteran serving The European Theater and proudly fought in five major battles. He was a member of Carpenters Local 1319 for forty years. A man that never met a stranger will be missed by his family and many friends. A military service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Chester T. GARCIA -- Jose Hernandez Garcia July 10, 1911 to Feburary 13, 1998 I shall never see a man like Jose. He never met a stranger. Friendly old codger. JELINEK -- Myra Jelinek, 89, died of Cancer on February 10, 2004. she was born in Geneseo, Illinois; worked in Washington, DC; raised her family in Loves Park, Illinois; retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona; and moved to Albuquerque, three years ago. Myra is survived by her children and their spouses, Lucy and Rob Hays; Tim and Carla Jelinek; grandchildren, Kyle, Evan and Claire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben. Myra was a loving and enthusiastic friend. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and always encouraged them. JOHNSON -- Gwen G. Johnson, 83, (formerly Gladys Gwendolyn Griffiths) a resident of Corrales, NM since 1983 and native of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, passed away February 10, 2004 after an extended illness. Born May 25, 1920 in Ashwaubenon to Harry G. Griffiths and Elizabeth Griffiths (formerly Cormier), Gwen married Ralph W. Johnson of Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1942 and shared his life and career in the U.S. Air Force traveling extensively in the United States and Europe while raising three children. Gwen was active in Air Force Family Services volunteer work while the family was stationed in Albuquerque in the late 1950s and early 1960s and continued her volunteer activities as director of the local senior citizen's center in her native Ashwaubenon where she and Ralph returned in 1968. When they retired to Corrales, in 1983, Gwen served as chair of the hospitality and landscaping committees of the Pueblo Los Cerros community for several years. Gwen was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose warm and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Johnson; her son, Griff Johnson and his wife, Jocelyn Tate of Corrales; her daughter, Kathy Morley and her husband, Dave of Colorado Springs; and her son, Rick Johnson and his wife, Catherine of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Lea Johnson, Niki Johnson, Krystal Curtis, and Mia Johnson; as well as a grandson, Hayden Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and friends. Gwen was preceded in death by her only sibling, Harley Griffiths of San Diego, California. A Memorial Service and interment of her cremated remains will take place in late spring in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Gwen's life will be honored at a gathering of family and friends to celebrate a life well-lived on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pueblos Cerros Clubhouse in Corrales.

JORDAN -- David H. Jordan, 56, of Albuquerque passed away in the early evening of Tuesday, February 10, 2004 with his daughter, Kristin, by his bedside. He is survived by his daughter Kristin Jordan 19, who lives in Albuquerque NM. David was born in Michigan on November 9, 1947. David was employed by Boeing SVS where he was the lead tracking system engineer on the Fire Control system for the Airborne Laser Program, which is sponsored by the Air Force. This effort was one of many successful computing systems that David had engineered and delivered over his distinguished 35 year career. David was an avid golfer, a nationally ranked chess player, played base guitar, and loved to camp and ride his jet-ski with his daughter Kristin. David was comforted, in his final days, by Kristin and the steady stream of old friends and colleagues that visited him in the hospital. David is, now, comforted by the Lord Himself. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 16, at 4:00 p.m., at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. KARNAFEL -- Arlene Frances (Zelda) Karnafel. Zelda was born in Harvey, IL June 18, 1946 and passed on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2001 in Corrales, NM. Zelda will be our Valentine always. Her stay on earth, although much too short, was filled with accomplishments. She attended the University of Wisconsin on an academic scholarship also the Universities of Arizona and New Mexico. She excelled at all. She acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and was a Professor of Art History at UNM. We miss Zelda's radiant smile, her laughter, her charm, her wit, her friendship, she was one of a kind, and will be remembered in our hearts and minds always. May God bless and keep you Zelda, we pray you are happy, joyous and free. We hope to meet you again someday, good wishes from your many, many friends.

KITE -- Chester Kite, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Thursday, February 12, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Blossom Zoll Kite of the family home, who was the love of his life; three daughters, Deborah Kite Gastellum, Marcia Susan Kite, both of Albuquerque and Robin Nancy Kite and husband, Jeffrey Percival of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Percival and Ruth Emily Percival, both of Madison, WI; brother, M. Leslie Kite and wife, Barbara; sister, Jean Shore; brother-in-law, Harvey Zoll and wife, Colleen; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Randleman, all of Chicago, IL. Mr. Kite spent 3 years in the U.S. Air Corps during WWII stationed on Guam for part of that time. He received his degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology where his mentor was Meis van der Rohe. Mr. Kite was passionate in his love for music and the arts. He was a member of Congregation Albert and of the Brotherhood of Congregation Albert. Mr. Kite was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather. Services will be held Monday, February 16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, with Cantor Jacqueline Shuchat-Marx officiating. MATTSON -- Roy Mattson passed away on February 9, 2004. He was born in Floodwood, MN on October 13, 1911. He was the last surviving member of his family. He led a colorful life in the 20s and 30s. He married Edith Jarvi on November 22, 1938; she preceded him in death on October 12, 1988. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a Master Carpenter, whom Norm Abrams would be envious of. He moved his family to Albuquerque in 1954 where he continued his work in carpentry until he retired and moved to the east mountain area where he liked to be called, "Old man of the mountain." He was an interpreter for a Finnish balloonist at the first Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Survivors are, Dennis Jarvi of Floodwood, MN, Linda and Steve Zimmer of Redding, CA; and children, Rhonda, Steve, Lance and Zabrina, Cheryl Gormally and children, Chris, Collin, Annie, and Kyle of Albuquerque, Jim Gormally of Albuquerque, Carmen and Bob Tressler and sons, Dennis, Cory and Joe of Oakland, MD., Nick Mattson and Cyndi Miller of Ruidoso Downs, NM; several nieces, nephews, cousins; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

MILLS -- Gregory John Mills, 55, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 Greg was born December 26, 1948 the son of Millard and Eugenia Matuszewski Mills in Illinois. He had been a sales representative in the technical services field before his death. Greg loved water, any type, swimming, boating, fishing, you name it, and he would be doing it! He also was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed camping and traveling. His wife Gail even got him to enjoy shopping! He enjoyed eating out, loved Jazz music; the Chicago Bears football, and followed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers too. Greg loved his animals, was fun loving, and oh so smart! He was a terrific salesman. He was loved by his family and friends. Greg is survived by his wife Gail; two children; his sister, Tamara Falco; also other family members and friends who dearly loved and admired him. MOORE -- Laura Lee Moore, 58, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at home surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gary Moore of Albuquerque; son, Dr. David Moore and wife, Dr. Jenny Halpern of Nashville, TN; daughter, Melissa Taylormoore and husband, Dr. Jonathan Taylormoore of Falls Church, VA; her parents, Jack and Bobbie Sharp of Las Cruces; her two nephews and niece, Jack, Ben and Margaret Knorr of Artesia. Laura Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Sharp Knorr of Artesia. She was dedicated to raising her family and living everyday with vitality and joy. Laura Lee is dearly loved by her family and friends for her sense of humor, integrity, persistence, and passion that she demonstrated by how she lived her life. She graduated from the University of Arizona, and went on to receive her Masters Degree from the University of New Mexico. Laura Lee was active in the Albuquerque community for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, having served as the first female Senior Warden. Laura Lee served on numerous community boards, including as a founding trustee of the Albuquerque Community Foundation, as Chairperson at Albuquerque Academy and as a board member of the Komen Race for the Cure, Samaritan Counseling Foundation, Presbyterian Heart Institute and Chaparral Girl Scout Council. She was president of the Junior League and of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority Alumni Association. Laura Lee worked as the Director of Institutional Advancement at Albuquerque Academy over six years, and was named Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the New Mexico Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her, but we know that she is at peace and that she is with us in spirit. MOSHER -- Joyce L. Mosher, loving mother, and grandmother, went to join the Lord and her husband on February 11, 2004. Joyce was born in Sioux City, Iowa, January 8, 1921. She attended the University of Iowa, where she met her loving husband of 60 years, Don. Joyce graduated with a degree in Physical Education and taught until she and Don moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1949. In addition to raising their four children, Joyce was involved in Girl Scouting, Beta Sigma Phi, Aglow, and her hiking group, the Bar-O (the Bar Nothings). In each of her activities, she enjoyed friendships that lasted her lifetime. Don and Joyce relocated to Albuquerque in 1986 where they continued to stay involved with their children, grandchildren, church and friends. Joyce was a born-again Christian whose walk with the Lord sustained her during her life and into her next life. Joyce was preceded in death by Don on Nov. 15, 2003. She is survived by three daughters, Gail Stearns and husband Jim, of Tulsa, OK, Jan Mosher of Albuquerque, and Donna Mosher of Albuquerque; son, Brian Mosher and wife Toby of Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, Cara Stearns-Morris, Jeremy Stearns, Louis, Brandon and Nikki Heckroth, Travis and Lia Mosher, Shawn, Joshua, and Audrey Osborn, Janae Sanders; and four great grandchildren. RUEB -- Karl B. Rueb, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 45 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret (Peggy); son, Randel Rueb; daughters, Robyn Steele and Rhonda Ristaino, their husbands Walter Steele, David Ristaino; and five grandchildren, Katrina and Kiel Steele, and Andrea, Kaitlyn and Tess Ristaino; niece, Ronelle Kotter; nephews, Bill and Scott White; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Shirley White. Karl was born in St. Francis, Kansas on October 14, 1931 to Lydia Fichtner Rueb and William Rueb. He grew up on a farm in western Kansas/eastern Colorado and attended school in both states. Karl graduated from the University of Colorado in 1956, with degrees in engineering, business and education. He was called to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. Karl worked for 38 years at the Department of Energy in Albuquerque, hiring on when it was AEC, and retiring in 1994. Karl has been a long time member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. SOMMERS -- Richard E. Sommers (Uncle Rick), passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 9, 2004. Rick was born on November 26, 1949 in Los Alamos, NM to Robert S. Sommers and Yvonne G. Sommers. Rick was a graduate of Sandia High School. He was a member of Teamsters Local 492 for over 25 years and worked for Navajo, Yellow, and Consolidated Freightways. In 1991, he opened Uncle Rick's Pawn Shop in the North Valley. He operated his business from that time until September of 2003. Rick had two great passions in life - his family and his devotion to being a mason. He was a member of Temple Lodge #6, where he served as Assistant Steward, and Tyler. He was a Charter Member of Sandoval Lodge #82. He was active in the Ballut Abyad Shrine as a member of the Azayim and Loco Patrol where he had just been elected Brakeman. He also was the onion sales chairperson and on the Fez Committee. In all of his endeavors, Rick embodied love, friendship, compassion, and strength. His spirit will forever be missed and admired. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Norma Miera Sommers; daughters, Leann Sommers and Amanda Sommers; parents, Robert and Yvonne Sommers; brother, Sid Sommers and sister-in-law, Jackie, all of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins of San Diego, CA, Bernalillo, Algodones and Las Vegas, NV. TSYITEE -- LeRoy Tsyitee, 78, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004. He is survived by his brothers, Arthur E. Tsyitee and Kenneth M. Tsyitee, all of Albuquerque; niece, JoAllan E. Tsyitee of Albuquerque; nephews, Edward F. Tsyitee and wife, Susan of Las Vegas, NM, Arthur P. Tsyitee, Kenneth Tsyitee and Sheldon Tsyitee, all of Albuquerque; great-nephews, John K. Redhouse and wife, Rachel of Albuquerque, John C. Tsyitee of Lubbock, TX and Edward F. Tsyitee, Jr. of Virginia; and great-niece, JoAnna Tsyitee. Mr. Tsyitee was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lula Tsyitee; and great-great-nephew, Jonathan Taylor Redhouse. He graduated from Albuquerque High in 1943 and received a BBA from UNM in 1951. Mr. Tsyitee was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Navy, and received the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Managing Auditor for the New Mexico State Auditors Office for 25 1/ 2 years. ZEVE -- Bernard Zeve, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adelina C. Zeve; son, Zachary D. Zeve; daughter, Suzanne B. Zeve-Minnick, all of Albuquerque; brother, Murray Zeve and wife, Phyllis of Venice, FL; and several nieces. Mr. Zeve was preceded in death by his parents, Issac and Frieda Zeve. He has a B.A. degree from New York University and a M.A. degree from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Zeve was a high school teacher in the state of New Mexico for over 30 years at various schools within the state, and 25 of those years at the Albuquerque Public School system until he retired. He then taught at TVI for over 15 years. Mr. Zeve was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. 5th Army, 88th infantry divisions, 3rd battalion, 351st infantry regiment, as a combat infantryman - radio operator. He received three Bronze Service Stars and a Presidential Unit Citations for the Battle of Laiatico. He was also an avid swimmer and runner.
