ARMIJO -- Manuel L. Armijo, 92, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose Armijo; children, Barbara Pohl and husband, Gilbert, Marcella Perrine and husband, Frank, Christine McWhorter and husband, Tom and Alfred Armijo and wife, Rose; grandchildren, Nick McAfee, Gabriel Perrine, Michael Perrine and fianc, Janice Salazar, David Perrine, Lisa McWhorter and Estrella Armijo; great-granddaughters, Brianna McAfee and Amber McAfee, all of Albuquerque; his large extended family; and his special friends at Share Your Care Adult Day Services at Los Vocanes. Mr. Armijo was a member of the Plasterers and Cement Masons Union Local #254. He enjoyed gardening and always kept a large garden at his home. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, with Deacon Nestor Garcia reciting. CHAVEZ -- Richard A. Chavez, 44, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 17, 2003. Richard is survived by his parents, Tony and Connie Chavez; two sisters, Bernice Chavez and husband, Cruz Mirabal, Diane Lucero and husband, Jim; one brother, Ray Chavez and wife, Jerri; fiancee, Bellina Luchetti; friends, Dillinger, Azuma and Pharoh; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; also friends of Bill W. and Yaweeh Aloheim. Richard was a great mechanic, race car driver and loved fishing, football, hunting and music. Richard had a huge heart and would willingly assist everyone in times of need. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW by Father Gino. The family will be accepting family and friends at the church after 10:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date. CORDERO -- Tomas E. Cordero II, 64, born in El Paso, TX and originally from Los Angles passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque. Mr. Cordero had been suffering for several years from heart and stroke ailments. Having made Albuquerque his home for the past 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Jerrina; two sons, Jerome Rio and Tomas III; and two daughters, Jerrina Jr. and Tomasina; two sons- in-law, Michael Sanchez and Stephen Kleinhenz all from Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters from Los Angeles, Mary Cordero and Norma Cordero; and one brother from Phoenix, Louie Cordero. Included in the Cordero extended family are Mike, Keith, Alicia and Debra. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church . COX -- Alice Julia Cox, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Virgil D. Cox Sr.; her daughters, Loretta Jones, Carol Montgomery and Lynette Garner and husband, Randy; her son, Virgil D. Cox Jr. and wife, Zona; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Willa Stone and brother-in-law, Kenneth Stone. ERDAL -- Cliff Erdal, 89, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003. He is survived by his son, Bruce R. Erdal and wife, Jean Elizabeth of Los Alamos, NM; sister, Lillian Madson of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Arnold Erdal of Macintosh, NM; special niece, Naoma Greiner and husband, Larry of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews and family members. Mr. Erdal was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Louise Hubbell Erdal, his second wife of 4 years, Lucretia "Billie" Erdal. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota on September 26, 1914 and moved to Albuquerque with his family when he was 9 years old. Mr. Erdal worked as a carrier and eventually a personnel manager for the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 1971, after 35 years of service. He subsequently devoted his time restoring the Hubbell House in Pajarito, NM. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. The family would like to express a special thanks to Laurel Heights for their loving care. LEVELS -- George Levels, age 77, passed away on December 14, 2003 at his home. George was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Levels and Callie Philpatt of Teague, Texas. George was an avid mechanic; he worked for over 50 years at the Kitchen and Myers Motors Company. George served in the United States Army and received several decorations and citations for the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign, Philippine Liberation, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Ribbon for Japan and a Distinguished Unit Badge. George was a faithful member and in good standing with the following organizations: the I.B.P.O.E of W, the Navajo Lodge # 863. George is survived by his sister, Irene Tinkard; and brother, Ira Levels of Dallas, TX. George will be truly missed by his friends and colleagues. LUERAS -- Eddie L. Lueras, born December 25, 1932, has gone to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2003 after a long illness. He was born in Corona, NM and was a graduate of Corona High School. He retired from the Civil Service where he worked in food service for the Air Force. Eddie also was a veteran of the armed forces. He is survived by his wife, Susan R. Lueras; two daughters, Viviane Moreno and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Lilliane Moore and husband Shawn of North Carolina; son, Edwin Lueras and wife Tammy of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Damian Lee Castillo, Damian Sandoval, and Aaron Moreno, all of Albuquerque, Jenae Castillo and Noah Castillo of North Carolina, Nathan Moreno, Jaden and Evan Lueras of Albuquerque and Seth Moore of North Carolina; four brothers, Espidirion, Jose, Alex and Carlos; two sisters, Mary Chavez and Ella Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith NE, on Saturday, December 20, 2003, at 11:00 am. MARTIN -- Major Paul Martin, USAF, retired, age 86, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003 in Albuquerque following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Paul and Ruth Quint Martin and all of his brothers and sisters. Major Martin was born November 3, 1917 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He began his military career with the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1940. He and Irma Southwell were married September 26, 1942 in Minnesota. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1960, and was a member of the Reserves into the mid 70's. He was a life member of the Retired Officers Association. Major Martin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Irma Southwell Martin; his daughter, Barbara Ingram, and son, Paul Charles Martin and wife, Linda; Grandchildren: Valerie Ingram and husband, Greg Pringle, Lawrence Christopher Ingram and wife, Dina, Carolyn Marie Ingram and husband ,Daniel Jacobs, Heather Lynn Ingram and husband, Don Slack, Claire Martin Shaw and husband, Michael, and Casey Martin Carlton and husband, Mark. Also survived by great grandchildren, Chandler Tevas Ingram, Amanda Ingram Jacobs, Lawrence Frederick Ingram Pringle, Joshua Nelson Ingram Pringle, Hunter Carlton, and Ian Shaw. MARTINEZ-GRIEGO -- Michael Anthony Martinez-Griego born January 26, 1988 died on December 17, 2003. He is the son of Lee and Tammie Griego. He is survived by his sister, Leandra; grandparents, Elias and Angelica Martinez, Paul and Clorinda Griego all from Guadalupita, New Mexico; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a sophomore at Cibola High School. He loved basketball, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his bright smile and cheerful disposition. He will be greatly missed. MONTANO -- Mr. Bennie J. Montano, 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 17, 2003. Mr. Montano is the beloved husband of 50 years to Mrs. Adela Montano. Mr. Montano is also survived by two daughters, Benita Montano and Cynthia Montano; two sons, John Montano and Paul Montano; seven grandchildren, Leonard, Vanessa, Desiree, Cassandra, Amber, Clorissa and Christopher; two great grandchildren, Josiah and Marianna; one sister, Lucy Garcia and husband, Ray; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Montano was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War I I. ORTEGA-SCHLENKER -- Louise Ortega, formerly known as Louise Schlenker, beloved sister, aunt and great-aunt, passed away December 16, 2003. Louise is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Esther and J.B. Bostic; her brother and his wife, Lloyd and Velma Ortega; 12 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and by her dear friends, Louisa Garcia and "The BB Girls." Louise lived a full life and was a successful businesswoman. She will always be remembered for having a heart of gold, for her "Zingers" at Christmas time, and for always wanting to go eat because she was always "starved." She moved to New Mexico in 1952 and was a resident of Los Lunas for the last ten years. Mrs. Oskins was preceded in death by her loving husband and son. SEKOT -- Mercy Montano Sekot left to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2003. She passed away at her home in Blackfoot, ID. Mercy was born on January 10, 1938 in Roswell, NM to Joe R. Montano and Macedonia Rubio Montano. She attended Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1956 and was the Santa Fe Fiesta princess in 1957. She married Joseph P. Sekot in 1959. They lived in Albuquerque and had three children, Steven David, Judith Yvonne and Joseph Paul Sekot. They then moved to Blackfoot, ID in 1967. She worked for American Potato and IB&T Bank in Blackfoot. In 1975, they moved to Salt Lake City, UT and in 1976 they moved to Richland, WA where she worked at the Raineer Bank. In 1979, they returned to Blackfoot, where she went to work for EG&G at the INEEL. She retired in 1995. Mercy was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where she served on the Parish Board, Cub Scout Den Leader, a member of the choir, and volunteer bookkeeper for the parish. She enjoyed music, playing her violin, making beautiful rosaries, writing poetry and baking. Above all else, she enjoyed spoiling her five grandchildren. The best moments of her life were having her children and grandchildren around her for festive occasions. They enjoyed her tamales and posole. She is survived by her husband, Joseph P. Sekot of Blackfoot; two sons, Steven David (Lori) of Arimo, ID, Joseph Paul (Mary Jo) Sekot Jr. of Brigham City, UT; a daughter, Yvonne (Cal) Lindsay of Blackfoot; five grandchildren, Aaron and Christopher Sekot, who are brothers, Brandi (Mike) Robbins, Alicia and Stephanie Lindsay who are sisters; three brothers, Benjamin (Adelina) and Rudy (Yvonne) both of Santa Fe, NM and Louis of Albuquerque; five sisters, Rose (Pete) Valdez and Jane (Dick) Frank both of Albuquerque, Margaret (Roy) Royball of Pojoaque, NM, Mary Jo (Benny) Sanchez of Pahrump, NV and Francais (Phillip) Carrillo of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Joe. A Funeral Mass was held 10:00 a.m. , Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the St. Bernard's Catholic Church. A Rosary Service was recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Hawker Hill Funeral Home.
