ARCHIBEQUE -- Miguel Archibeque, La Voz Inolvidable, was called to Heaven on Sunday, December 7, 2003, after a very long illness. Miguel was a Native Son of the Old Town Area, where he was born to Mike and Ageda Archibeque. He grew up there and attended San Felipe School and St. Marys High School. Miguel was preceded in death by his nephew Ernie Archibeque and was the devoted husband, of 41 years, of Darlene Archibeque. Together they were one soul. He is also survived by his children Anthony Archibeque and wife Kathy, Anna Archibeque and husband Efren Chavez, Ramona Vargas and husband Lawrence, Joe Archibeque and wife Valerie; his beloved grandchildren, Jesus, Amanda, Joseph, Nathan, Anthony III and Danielle Archibeque, Victoria Vargas and his special Little Angel Savannah Archibeque. He was so proud of his family. Also surviving are his sisters Virginia Archibeque of Albuquerque, Ramona Everett and husband Bob of Kingsville, TX, and his most special brother Ernest Archibeque and wife Genevieve of Albuquerque; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Miguel was an avid musician, with a most beautiful voice. He began performing in 1953 and was the first local musician to cut a record with a National Recording Company, Latin Lover, in 1961. Miguel was the lead voice of Los Reyes de Albuquerque, together with Roberto Martinez, they started the group 43 years ago and they performed extensively across the nation, from the Hollywood Palladium in California to Las Vegas, Washington, DC., and New York. Miguel also has material at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. He was a very conservative person and never boasted of his talents, but his very proud family did and always will, as his voice and music will always be heard throughout New Mexico and the Country. He was a beloved legacy in his lifetime and will always be remembered as a kind and loving person who always wanted to see his fellow musicians succeed. Miguel is deeply missed by all who knew him and especially by his loving family. Memorial Services will be held at San Felipe Catholic Church in Old Town. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2003. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2003. Private interment will follow. BOND -- Mayberry J. Bond, 92, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, died Saturday, December 6, 2003. Mr. Bond is survived by his wife, Pearl of Albuquerque; sister, Allene Wilkins of Portland, OR; and his brother, Jason J. Bond of Arleta, CA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Reeves. Mr. Bond was a veteran, having served in the US Air Force during WWII. He was also member of Ballut Abyad Temple, Hiram Lodge #13 of the York Rite and the American Legion Post 13. BRITO -- Clara B. Brito, 78, a loving mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away at home on Sunday, December 7, 2003. She was survived by her daughter, Judy Tapia and husband, Joe; son, Anthony Brito and his wife, Ruby and their children, Roxanne and Charlie; six grandchildren, Carol Ramires and husband, Jose and their children, Denise and Fred Gonzales and their children, Lisa and Danny Radcliffe, Angelina and fianc, Tyron Young and baby; and seven great grandchildren. GARCIA -- Mary P. Garcia, 80, a resident of Espanola passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2003 following a short illness. GIBSON -- Joyce B. Gibson, 92, an Albuquerque resident for 56 years, died Saturday, December 6, 2003. She is survived by her sister, Merle O'Keeffe; nieces, Carla Breeze of Albuquerque and Patricia Maxon and her children, Andrew and Blair Maxon of Los Altos, CA. She was preceded in death by David E. GONZALES -- Lucy M. Gonzales, 63, went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2003. She was born on May 14, 1940 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mrs. Gonzales is preceded in death by her daughter, Elenor Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Anselmo Gonzales; brothers, Lenave Chavez and wife Mary Ann and Andy Chavez and wife Yvonne and sisters, Virginia Gutierrez and husband Orlando, Gloria Lucero and Ernestine Sanchez and husband Leroy. HALL -- Patrick D. Hall of Fremont, Nebraska, born November 23, 1952, passed away December 4, 2003. Patrick was born in Brawley, California to Bud and Judy Hall. Pat worked as a paralegal for Richard Register's Law firm and then as a great barbecue cook for the Wooden Windmill. HARRELL -- Clarence Brock Harrell, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Saturday, December 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Olin Harrell of Albuquerque; daughters, Anna Jane, "Janie" Magruder and husband, David, Cathleen Beth Knipprath and husband, George, and Charlotte Notgrass, all of Albuquerque, and Melinda Lee Bryant and husband, Larry of Monument, CO; grandchildren, Amy Michele Daehnert and husband, Todd, Kendall Scott Magruder and wife, Alexis, Tara Knipprath, Beth Foster and husband, Bryan, Leah Knipprath, Brock Knipprath, Philip Bryant, Corban Bryant, Garret Bryant, Emily Bryant; great-grandson, Blake Andrew Daehnert; nieces, Martie Miller and husband, Ed and Mary Bishop and husband, Walt, as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mr. Harrell was born in Elizabeth City, NC in 1917 to James and Mattie Harrell. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harrell served his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corps, 9th Service Squadron in the South Pacific. Mr. Harrell drove for the Albuquerque Transit System, retiring after 35 years. HOEBERLING -- Mark William Hoeberling, 43, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 8, 2003, of respiratory failure after 27 courageous years living as a complete quadraplegic following a trampoline accident in 1976. He was born April 24, 1960 in Detroit, MI and moved to Albuquerque in 1971. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Marie Hoeberling of Hazel Park, MI and Waldo and Rose Long of Albuquerque; father, Robert W. HOGUE -- Richard H. Hogue 47, lost his courageous battle with Leukemia on Thursday, December 4, 2003. He was born on November 6, 1956 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his mother Ellen Hogue; his four children, Michael, Nicholas, Melissa and Thomas Hogue; sister Lori Truster and husband Mathew; brother Thomas Hogue and wife Lori; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father John T. Hogue. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force receiving the rank of Staff Sergeant. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Paradise Village. KNIGHT -- Ian C.S. Knight M.D., Ch.B., F.R.C.S., 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died at his home on December 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Ethel G.W. Knight and his family; daughters, Valerie Knight Foster and Gillian Stewart; son, Ian M.H. Knight and grandsons, David Stewart and Kevin Stewart. Dr. Knight moved from Edinburgh, Scotland to Albuquerque in 1966. He was a local Urologist and he practiced in Albuquerque for over 30 years. Dr. Knight was also an avid golfer and he passed his love of golf onto his family. He served in the United States Air Force from March 23, 1951 to July 22, 1955. He worked at Sandia National Laboratory for 38 years until his retirement to be a full time grandfather. He was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community where he served as an usher for many years. He was a board member of Eldorado neighborhood association. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. PLUMHOFF -- Major Steven Plumhoff, a resident of Albuquerque, was killed while serving his Country in the War on Terrorism on November 23, 2003. He is survived by his wife of ten years Yvette LaPointe of Albuquerque; son, Gavyn Ruark Plumhoff of Albuquerque; mother, Hannalore Lode of Pueblo West, Colorado and father, Karl-Heinz Plumhoff also of Pueblo West Colorado; sister, Carola Plumhoff of Plainfield, New Jersey. SANCHEZ -- Priscilla Sanchez born January 14, 1923 passed into the Lords waiting arms on November 30, 2003. She joins her beloved husband, Tony Sanchez and granddaughter, Stephanie Sanchez-Chavez. Priscilla was an accomplished artist and seamstress. Her hands brought relief to many who benefited by her message and reflexology. Survivors include sons, Tony Jr. and Jerry Sanchez; grandsons, Robert and Patrick Sanchez; beloved sister, Mabel Soto; brothers, David and Joe Madrid and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Della and Louise for their loving care. Priscilla will be missed for her kindness and love for others. Her contagious laugh will ring in our memories. SHAW -- John M. Shaw, 60, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away December 6, 2003, at his home with his beloved wife and granddaughter. John was born in Albuquerque on February 2, 1943. John is survived by his wife, Nora Shaw; a son, Randy Shaw (Joyce); one granddaughter, Darby Shaw; brother, Frank Shaw; sisters, Lillian Mendoza and Julia Saavedra (Chris); Godsons, Robert Mendoza, Arthur Shubert, Kevin Weaver, Frank Shaw III and Leo Garcia; Goddaughters, Dora Oquendo, Lisa Montano and Christine Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Shaw and Trinidad Shaw and his son, Ronnie Shaw. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Post 13. Mr. Shaw will be deeply missed by his loving family. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital and the Odessy Hospice for all their help and support. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary (8th St. & Stover S.W.). SHORES -- Kenneth David "Kenny" Shores, Sr., 58, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, departed Sunday, December 7, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Georgia Shores; daughter, Jennifer Shores; son, Ken Shores; granddaughter, Christian Shores, all of Albuquerque; brother, Henry Shores and wife, Ann of Wheeling, WV; sisters, Kathy Parsons and husband, Jay of Wheeling, WV and Sandy Eubank and husband, Randy of Olathe, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shores served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Air Force. He was in Law Enforcement for over 14 years before moving to Albuquerque. Kenny had worked in automotive sales and management for the past 17 years here in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. SMITH -- Hubert I. Smith, 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2003. He was born February 18, 1910 to Homer and Stella Smith, in Taiban, New Mexico. Hubert worked for G.I. Martin Construction, building roads. After retiring from roadwork, he worked at the NM State Fair Race Track. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elizabeth Lee; 6 sisters; three brothers; and daughter, Janice. Hubert is survived by his loving wife, Castella "Cassie" Talbot Smith; 2 sons, Herbert Smith and wife Charlene, Everett Smith and wife Michelle; daughter, Doris Nix and husband Howard; step-sons, John Talbot and wife Mary, Loyd Talbot and wife Lynn, Douglas Talbot and wife Sherry, Kenneth Talbot and wife Sherri; step daughter, Patsy Jones and husband Dennis; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. STAEHLIN -- Wanda Kay Staehlin, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister, died unexpectedly, Monday, December 8, 2003. She was preceded in death by husband, Ray, and parents, Walter and Mabel Ellis. Wanda is survived by her son, David and wife, Margaret; son, Jerry; daughter, Janet Dwyer and husband, Larry; granddaughter, Robin Townsend of Austin, TX; step-grandson, Gregory Tudor and wife, Michelle of Peoria, IL; sister, Evelyn Byrd and husband, J.W.; niece, Niki Byrd Dickie and husband, Frank; nephew, James W. Byrd and wife, Teresa; great-nieces Amelia Ann and Jamie Lee; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. Wanda was born October 6, 1919 in St. Genevieve, Missouri and as a young child her family moved to New Mexico. She attended local schools and graduated from Albuquerque High School at the age of 15. Wanda went on to the University of New Mexico where she graduated at the age of 18. She taught at Old Town school before marrying Ray. She was devoted to her family, church and friends, and will be truly missed by all. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Chester T. WATSON -- Clyde O. Watson, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, died Friday, December 5, 2003. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Pearl Lois Watson of Albuquerque; nephew, Hal Curtis of Yucaipa, CA; and sister, Sadie Dot Thompson of New Bern, NC. Mr. Watson served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Chief Petty Officer on an aircraft carrier. After the war, he studied Math at Long Beach City College and later became an aeronautical engineer with Defense Contracting Organizations. Since moving to Albuquerque, Mr. Watson was a member of Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church. WHALEY -- Thomas H. Whaley, 92, passed away December 6, 2003. He was born in Sedalia, MO on September 4, 1911. He was a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years. Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his wife, Mignon and son, Thomas W. (Bud) Whaley. He was a member of St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church. Tom was a longtime employee of American Furniture Company and retiree. Tom served his country during World War II in the 3169th Signal Battalion in the South Pacific. WYNN -- Ardyce Lorene Wynn-Born October 10, 1910 and passed away December 4, 2003. She was a long time Albuquerque resident since moving here from Michigan in 1934.
