APPEL -- Robert W. Appel, 52, of Las Animas, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2003 in Colorado Springs after a brief illness. Robert was born October 11, 1951, in Washington, DC. Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Appel. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Taylor Appel of the family home near Las Animas, CO; daughters, Julie of Ardmore, OK and Katie of Las Animas; parents, James D. and Marjorie S. Appel of Durango, CO; brothers, John of Santa Fe, Daniel of Albuquerque, and Douglas of Durango, CO; and sister, Suzanne Collier of Stillwater, OK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Manzano High School and served his country in the Navy as a member of Seal Team One, after which he graduated from New Mexico State University. BENAVIDEZ -- Adella G. Benavidez, 96, went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2003. She was born on May 18, 1907 in Bosque, New Mexico. Mrs. Benavidez was a member of the San Ignacio Parish since 1964. She is survived by her nephews, Harry Marquez and wife, Theresa, Manuel Marquez and wife, Virginia and Robert Marquez and wife, Teresa and her niece, Ernestine Marquez. Adella will be deeply missed by her loving family. Final viewing will be held on Friday morning at the San Ignacio Catholic Church from 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Services to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mt. DAILEY -- Mrs. Eleanor S. Dailey, 80, a life long resident of New Laguna, New Mexico passed away peacefully on November 24, 2003 with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Dailey was a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and a member of the Laguna United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dailey belonged to many organizations during her lifetime and served as an officer in many of them. Mrs. Dailey is well known for her sense of humor, kindness and beautiful smile. Mrs. Dailey is survived by her two daughters, Georgia Pedro, Opel Bowman and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Randy Pedro, Greg, Diane, Jeff, Ryan Dailey, Melinda, Monica, Melanie and Mandy Bowman; ten great-grandchildren; six nieces; eight nephews and many other family members and friends. Mrs. Dailey was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wayne A. Dailey Sr., and a son, Wayne A. Dailey Jr. A Wake Service will be held Friday evening November 28, 2003 at the Dailey Family home in New Laguna, New Mexico with visitation at the family home after 4:00 p.m. A final visitation will be Saturday morning November 29, 2003 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Laguna United Presbyterian Church, exit 108 I-40, with a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 a.m. by Pastor David. HANES -- Patrick Hanes, age 38, made his transition suddenly on 11-21-03. Patrick leaves his mother, Donna Schwarz; brother, Jeffrey Hanes; niece, Demi Hanes; best friend, Heather Sanders and her son, Josh; his father, Charles Hanes and many relatives and good friends. Patrick loved life and his profession as an R.N. He was an avid snowboarder, windsurfer, rollerblader and fitness buff. Patrick graduated from Manzano H.S. in 1983. He earned his B.S. in Nursing at UNM in 2001. Patrick will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, caring attitude and wonderful sense of humor. His spirit will always live on in those who knew and loved him. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, November 30 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Call 823-6617 for directions.

MARTIN -- Scott Alan Martin, 43, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and Los Lunas, NM, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2003. Mr. Martin is survived by his son, Alan Martin, and Alan's mother, Debra Martin of Los Lunas, NM. He is also leaves his two sisters, Robin White and husband Rocky, and Roxanne Duran and husband Larry Harris; his nephews, Gene Duran and wife Adrienne of Tokyo, Japan, and Matt Duran; his father, Randy Martin; and his wonderful, supportive friends, Jerry Ginsburg and Steve Foster. Mr. Martin was predeceased by his mother, Beverly Rich Martin, and his grandparents who raised him, Jack and Jill Rich. Mr. Martin comes from a family native to New Mexico for 100 years. He graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque. He loved playing golf and spending time with his son, Alan. He was a friend to all who met him and had a wide circle of acquaintances in the Albuquerque Metro area throughout his life. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Chapel, 924 Menaul NE. MURPHY -- Dean Murphy, 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Monday, November 24, 2003. He is survived by his sons, Gary Dean Murphy and daughter-in-law, Pat Murphy and Steve Murphy and wife, Linda, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Jean Ann Swan and husband, Duffy of Cedar Crest; Diana Johnston and husband Glen of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kim Youngblood and husband, Randy, Julie Keller and husband, Chris, Shawna Matheson and husband, Vince, Tammy Banks and husband, Allen, Michael Murphy, Ryan Johnston and wife Meredith and Kristen Murphy; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi Avery Murphy and his second wife, Eleanor Hall Murphy. "The good Lord gave me two good women." Mr. Murphy was a member of Bethel Heritage Church. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 34 years of service. Mr. Silva was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 25 years, American Legion Post 13 for 26 years and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. 401.
