ANDREWS -- William Edward Andrews, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Mr. Andrews was born in Shelby, North Carolina on May 11, 1923. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Bigham Andrews; son, Robert F. Andrews and wife, Anita; daughter, Susan A. Joseph and husband. S. John Joseph of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Robert F. Andrews Jr., Sarah E. C. Andrews, Christopher J. Joseph and Amy A. Joseph. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Andrews and Ruth W. Andrews; one brother, Ralph Wilson, "Andy" Andrews; and a son, Joseph Rex Andrews. Mr. Andrews worked at Sandia Laboratories for 35 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a founder of Andrews Pueblo Pottery, a fixture in Old Town for thirty years. Mr. Andrews was also an organizer and chaperone of Teenage Study Tours in 1959, which took high school students to Europe. A Memorial Service will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Brittain Presbyterian Church in Westminster, North Carolina

ARNOLD -- Vernon Edds Arnold, 90, passed away early Thursday evening, November 6, 2003 of natural causes. Vernon Arnold was born in Alvin, Texas, on October 18, 1913. In 1938 Vernon joined Animas Lodge No. 1 and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in June 1943. In 1951 he joined Sandia Laboratories as a Chemical Engineer where he worked until his retirement in 1972. Subsequent employment was with the State of New Mexico Scientific Laboratory System and the Environmental Improvement Division. Vernon has been active in Albuquerque Chapter No. 67 Order of the Eastern Star, having served twice as Worthy Patron. He has been a member of the Scottish Rite in Santa Fe, the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Albuquerque and has been active in the Blue Lodge serving as Worshipful Master of Hiram Lodge No. 13 in 1981 during which time he obtained Perpetual Membership. He has been an active church worker and served for 12 years as Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church. In his professional career he was a member of the American Chemical Society, The American Society for Non destructive Testing and served four years as Rocky Mountain District Chairman of American Society for Testing and Materials. He is the holder of two patents, is the author of several technical papers and is listed in "Who's Who in the West. Vernon is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary M. Arnold who works for the Albuquerque Public School System; step-sons, Ron Horne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Robert L. Horne of Albuquerque, New Mexico; step-daughter, Cheryl Warrer of Atlanta, Indiana; his daughters Kay McMullen of Boulder, Colorado, Janice Terry of Palo Alto, California, and Mary Alice Berry of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, with interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. CAFFEY -- Charles H. Caffey, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, died Thursday, November 6, 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Warren and husband, Dennis and Mary Jo Caffey, all of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Charles E. Caffey, Patricia Mae Caffey, Murray Warren, Brian Warren, Jessica Warren, all of Albuquerque and Chris Warren of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Caffey. Mr. Caffey was employed as finance manager with Galles Chevrolet for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion Drum & Bugle Corps. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 10, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. CHAVEZ -- Valentina V. Chavez, 81, went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2003. She was born on April 16, 1922 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. COHRS -- Mary Cohrs was born March 24, 1921, in Alticane, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents, Andrew Gulgan and Anastazia Wilikij, were Ukranian immigrants who entered the United States through Ellis Island, New York, about 1917. Mary was the youngest of three children and is preceded in death by her sister, Anne Morris, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Rusk; her granddaughters, Dr. Regine Rusk Fortunov of Houston, TX and Melanie Rusk, of Dallas, TX; her sister, Kay Brietzke of Alberta, Canada; and her niece, Rose Ann Frood of Avon Park, FL. Mary was married on January 27, 1947, to Raymond Cohrs, a chemical engineer, educated at Queens University in Ontario, Canada. They lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, until moving to the United States and eventually settling for 30 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Raymond worked for Sandia National Laboratories. After Raymond Cohrs died in 1990, Mary moved to Midland, Texas, to be near her only child, Beverly Rusk, wife of Dr. Larry Rusk and to continue her business in real estate investment. Mary died at home on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, from a recurrence of pancreatic cancer, after surviving treatment two and a half years previous. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Albuquerque. If you wish to contact the family, please do so through marycohrs@yahoo.com. DOMINGUEZ -- Aaron R. Dominguez , 20, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1985, died on Sunday , November 2, 2003. Aaron was born on October 18, 1983, in Roswell, NM . He loved to race his BMX bike when he was younger at Alameda Raceway and he was always great with his hands. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Aaron was preceded in death by his first son Aaron Gabriel Dominguez, son of Felisha Taylor. He is survived by his parents Robert G. Dominguez of Rio Rancho, Debra A. Marincell - Calvin of Rio Rancho; children Armony Dominguez and his unborn child of Ms. Ashley McKinney of Albuquerque; brother Christopher R. GONZALEZ -- Mrs. Emilia Sanchez Gonzalez, 102, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 6, 2003. Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by one daughter, Sister Paula Gonzalez; one son, Hilario C. ( Larry ) Gonzalez and wife, Sue; six grandchildren, Rebecca Honda, Greg Gonzalez, Mia Reed, Tina Gonzalez, Claire Gonzalez and David Gonzalez; eight great grandchildren, Alexis, Erin, Adam, Steven Honda, Clayton and Sara Gonzalez, Jessica and Lisa Reed; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Gonzalez was a member of the Catholic Church, a past member of the Corona Club at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a teacher at St. Mary's Catholic School in recent years. Mrs. Gonzalez was the first principal at Lavaland Elementary School and taught at many many other schools. A visitation for Mrs. Gonzalez will be Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Gene Tuma. A final visitation will be Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Joel Garner. HARLEY -- Mary Chapin Harley passed away on November 1, 2003 after a short illness. She was born on May 12, 1923 and was raised in Silver City, New Mexico, the only child of Nelle Birch and Dr. Wayne Chapin, leading dentist in Silver City. She graduated from Silver City High School where she was a varsity cheerleader. Mary later attended the University of New Mexico and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Subsequently married Joseph B. Harley, and while he was at sea in the Navy, Mary worked at a local bank. After the war, she was active in the community and an early member of the Junior League and PEO. She was also a member of St. John's Cathedral, where she was married; and a member of the Daughters of the King. For many years Mary managed the gift shop at Baldridge Lumber, which was noted for its fine gifts. Later, Mary lived in Santa Fe where she worked at the Nambe Mills store and the State Legislature. She returned to Albuquerque and resided at Acantilado Vista until her death. She is survived by her son, Wayne Chapin Harley, and his wife, Debbie; granddaughter, Lesla Andrews and her husband, Robert; and great grandson, Corbin; and granddaughter, Joelle Harley. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel with The Reverend Ned Ross, officiating. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jean Highland; one daughter, Rebecca Thompson and husband, Bill, of Albuquerque, NM; one son, Jeff Highland and wife, Rena of Albuquerque, NM; two grandsons, Adam Thompson and Tyler Highland; one brother, Bart Highland and wife, Scottie of Cortez, CO; one sister, Audrey Gill, of Pueblo, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. MAYFIELD -- Audra L. Mayfield, 72, Rio Rancho, died October 23, 2003 after a long illness. Born September 31, 1931, the only child to Jeff and Nellie Sword, Pikeville, KY. Married Delmar N. Mayfield March 17, 1966,Fort Walton Beach, FL. Survivors include three daughters, Martha Daines, Albuquerque,NM, Dayle Daines, Seattle WA, and Sharon Vickrey, Rio Rancho; one son, Terry Mayfield, Las Vegas, NV; three grandsons, Neil Mayfield, David Brown, III, and Ian Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Mayfield. Services were held at Clark Chapel of Memories in Neosho, MO, October 28, 2003, with Dr. Jerry Seigel officiating. Interment was in Price Cemetery in McDonald County, MO.

MCNULTY -- John Phillip "J.P." McNulty II, MSW, JD, 42, died Monday, November 3, 2003. He was the beloved husband of Tina Cooper McNulty, loving father of Thomas Merton McNulty, and the cherished friend of many. For over 13 years he worked at VA hospitals in Chicago, Portland, and Albuquerque. He was also a member of the Albuquerque Masonic Lodge # 60. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE, 505-884-1801. Participants can park at nearby business lots as needed. MERBLER -- Alice W. Merbler, 84, passed away in her sleep at home early Sunday morning, November 2, 2003. Born in Waterloo, New York on April 20, 1919, Alice lived in Albuquerque since August, 1951. Alice, lovingly known as "Goose" by her family, was preceded in death by her husband Leo, in 1999. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sue Nichols of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Chuck Nelson of Tijeras; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Hatfield of Portland, Oregon; stepson and daughter-in-law, Keith and Roni Merbler of Albuquerque; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces. For more than 40 years, the Merblers owned and operated Crown T.V. and Appliance in Albuquerque. When they retired, Alice and Leo, both avid travelers, became full-time RV'ers and eventually visited forty-nine of the fifty states, missing only Alaska. After several years of their vagabond lifestyle, Leo's failing eyesight forced them to give up traveling and they settled in S.E. Albuquerque. In the four years following Leo's death, Alice was involved in many senior activities and will be greatly missed, not only by her family and neighbors, but also by her many friends at Bear Canyon and Palo Duro Senior Centers. MONTOYA -- Jeannie Marie"Peachy" Montoya, 55, a resident of Albuquerque, lost a brave battle to cancer on November 5, 2003. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be remembered as a wonderful friend to many people. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Montoya and husband, Alex; sons, Michael Montoya and Joseph Montoya; grandchildren, Reuben, Anthony and A.J., Alanna, Josephine and JoJo, Mikey, Rudy, Dominic, Daniel and Brandy; uncle, Orville "Teenie" Payne; cousins, Richard Payne, Tim Payne, Vicki Martinez, Christy Bridges and Bridgette Payne and their families. MOSOW -- Linda Coontz-Mosow November 7, 1955 - November 4, 2003 A loving wife, a proud mother, a caring daughter, a truly loved sister, aunt, niece, cousin and a special friend to many, left us to join her Lord in Heaven. Linda Kathleen Mosow passed-away after a courageous battle with Cancer in Chandler, Arizona. Linda was born in Albuquerque, graduated from Sandia High School and attended UNM. Twenty-eight years ago, Linda married her special love, Michael Mosow. She was a proud, devoted and loving mother to their daughter, Kelly Ann. Linda spent her life caring and loving her family and friends. Never a day passed without Linda talking to the ones she loved. She was always a champion for the "underdog". Linda is survived by her husband Michael; daughter, Kelly Ann Mosow (also Skittles) of Chandler, Az; parents, Herb and Colleen Coontz; brother, Glenn and wife, Jackie Coontz; her deeply loved nephew, Casey Coontz; close aunt and uncle, Bobbie and Vern Kelley; special cousin, Shannon Skinner and husband, Chuck, their boys, Nicky (In Iraq) and Derek; all of Albuquerque. Linda has many close relatives and friends throughout the country. Their kind words, compassion, and prayers meant so much to Linda and her family. May God Bless you all. SANCHEZ -- Mr. Casimiro Sanchez, 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 6, 2003 peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Sanchez is the beloved husband of 59 years to Mrs. Anita Sanchez. Mr. Sanchez is also survived by one daughter, Josephine (Josie) Chavez and husband, Jerry; one grandson, Jason Chavez; two step-grandchildren, Bonnie Chavez and Chris Sherrod; two sisters, Catalina Trujillo and Jennie Lord; one brother, Efren Sanchez and wife, Mary; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Sanchez. Mr. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Family Senior Group. A Rosary was held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel.
