Birrell -- Robert Gene Birrell, Sr., 77, a native and life long resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003. Mr. Birrell is survived by his wife of 55 years Violet"Sissy" Birrell of Albuquerque; son, Gene Birrell and wife, Dianna; daughter, Sandy Smith and husband, Carl; Nancy Cox and husband, Robbie; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Brian, Diana, Chad, Ashley, Victoria, and Lane, who knew him as Papa Bear. Mr. Birrell served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Gene worked for Sandia National Laboratories and Gulton Industries & Jet Electronics. Mr. Birrell started his own Electronics business in Albuquerque. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and enjoyed restoring vintage cars. Cain -- Thomas Edward Cain, Sr., 56, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past seven years, and coming to New Mexico from New York, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003. Thomas was born December 8, 1946 the son of George and Alice Young Cain in Brooklyn, New York. He was a mechanic/maintenance person with the Waste Management Company before his death. Thomas is survived by his wife, Caroline of the family home; five children, Alice Cain, Keith DiBuduo, Naomi Coccimiglio, Patrick Cain, and Thomas E. Cain, Jr.; two brothers, Gene Burke and Dennis Burke; and thirteen grandchildren. We will always love you and miss you. A Visitation for Thomas will be held today, Monday, June 30, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Castillo -- Anna Marie Castillo died at her home at the age of 90. Ms Castillo was a loving mother and grandmother and loved to babbysit for friends and relatives. She is survived by son, Andres Castillo and wife, Martha; daughter, Paula Isasi and husband, Edward; brother, Inez Lueras; two sisters, Rose and Julia Lueras; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Hardinge -- Maurice Lee (Lee) Hardinge, was born March 3, 1929 in Hillboro, Ohio. Passed away on June 27, 2002. He was a Weld Engineer in Aero Space Design. He is survived by his wife, Maria M. Hardinge of 22 years; one son, Melvin Tito Seda; sister-in-law, MArgie Martinez and husband, Amos and her children, Angela, Julio and Alfred; a brother, Robert Hardinge; five sisters, Dorothy Mullen and husband, Paul, Barbara Earlgy, Charlotte Hardinge, Hellen Mullen and Vivian Jaggers; one daughter, Daine Hardinge and her son, David Hardinge. King -- Charles King, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1987, passed away on June 27, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Jean King of Rio Rancho, NM; sons, Charles King of Los Alamos, NM and Michael King and wife Susan of Rio Rancho; grandson, Noel King also of Rio Rancho; niece, Carol Burger of Stoughton, Mass; nephews, Sammy King of Los Alamos and Rodney King of Redlands, CA; sister-in-laws, Irene King of Yucaipa, CA and Mary King of Stoughton, Mass; nieces, Clarita Zivney of Dallas, TX and Virginia Earl Griffith of Modesto, CA; other nieces and nephews including Amber, Katie, Matthew and Eric. Charles was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, including his identical twin brother, Sam King who passed away in 1982. He is a Master Mason, and a member of Pajarito Lodge #66, AF & AM, in Los Alamos. Charles retired in 1987 from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was a member of the 18th Combat Engineers in the US Army during WWII. Charles saw combat action in the Aleutian Islands and spent two years helping to build the Alaskan Highway. Charles was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan since 1939, a devoted husband and father. He always stood up for the underdog. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course, NW with Rick Donaho, officiating. Masonic services will also be held at this time. Knudson -- Dovia Irene Knudson, 99, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Wilson and husband, Warren of Albuquerque; six grandchildren Lorraine Fjelseth and husband, Don, Julanne Williams and husband, David, all of Albuquerque; Warren ¯Bud¯ Wilson II and wife, Bonnie of Rio Rancho; Suzanne Knudson, Greg Knudson and wife, Pat, and Bart Knudson and wife, Tammy all of Medford, OR; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and other dear extended family. Mrs. Knudson was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Earl Knudson; son, Joseph Earl Knudson, Jr.; son, Baby Boy Knudson; six brothers and one sister. She owned and operated several retail grocery businesses with her husband from the 1930s to the 1960s. Mrs. Knudson was a member of the Eastern Star and 1st Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing cards. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dennis Lihte officiating. Radosevich -- SERVICES FOR WAYNE RADOSEVICH, 58, WILL BE AT 11:00 a.m. MONDAY, JUNE 30, AT THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IN GALLUP NM. VISITATION WILL BE AN HOUR PRIOR TO SERVICE. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT THE RADOSEVICH FAMILY CEMETERY, 17 MILES SOUTH OF GALLUP. Radosevich died in his home June 26 following a short bout of cancer. Former Senator Radosevich served in the NM State Senate two consecutive terms under the King and Apodaca administrations. He served as the President of the Young Democrats and on various senate committees including senate finance. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and the out doors. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Radosevich of Gallup; sons, John Radosevich of Phoenix, Mike Radosevich of Farmington, and Waylon Radosevich of Gallup. Sisters, Terri Anderson of Colorado and Debbie Ronai of Ohio and six grandchildren. Radosevich was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Joe Radosevich and brothers, Joseph Radosevich and Roger Radosevich. Pallbearers will be: Ernie Abeita, Joe Armijo, Mike Buck, Isidro Chavez, Pete Derizotis, Art Diaz, Doug McClanahan, Derek Overman, Gene Pacheco, David Radosevich, J.B. Tanner and Herb Taylor. Ruiz -- Joe L. Ruiz, age 63, died of a massive heart attack after surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, June 25, 2003. Beloved, devoted and precious husband, father, son and brother he blessed our lives richly. Joe loved the Lord, and we know without doubt he is in the loving arms of Jesus Christ now. He was born in Santa Fe and moved to Los Alamos in 1945, where he grew up graduating from Los Alamos High School in '59. He was president of his class and an avid basketball, football and baseball player. He spent the rest of his life in Albuquerque. Joe loved to travel, play golf, was a dedicated Lobo fan, and enjoyed life to its fullest. God blessed Joe with a unique gift: a loving, caring, compassionate, kind spirit that touched so many lives with comfort and laughter. Joe worked for Metro Life Insurance Co. for 16 years and for 20 years ran his own successful agency with State Farm in Albuquerque. He was very active in the National Assoc. of Life Underwriters, holding several important positions with that organization. Ten years ago Joe became founding president for a local chapter of Christmas in April. This nonprofit is involved in repairing homes for elderly, disabled, and low income citizens of Albuquerque. He has coordinated over 4,500 volunteers, working on some 190 homes and raised more than $250,000 in donations. He personally knew hundreds of our neighbors served by Christmas in April. Joe also was a valued member of a men's support group for 15 years. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Liberato (Levy) Ruiz and survived by his mother, Pilar Ruiz; spouse, Kay Nations-Ruiz; son, Michael Ruiz; daughter, Shelly Smith; stepchildren, Brad and Kerry Bassore and Brenda Nations; four grandkids; three step-grandkids; and one great-grandson; sister, Phyllis Rodriguez; and brother-in-law, Tony of Santa Fe; brother, Raymond Ruiz; and sister-in-law, Harriet of Albuquerque; brother, Tommy Ruiz; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou of Albuquerque; sister, Rita Peaslee; and brother-in-law, Jim of Albuquerque; sister, Juanita Miguel; and brother-in-law, Charlie of Albuquerque; sister, Dolores Fulcher; and brother-in-law, Jim of Las Vegas, NV; 22 nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. Joe will be sorely missed. His ready smile, warm heart and helping spirit have left an indelible impression on his family, friends and community. Sanchez -- Philomena ¯Philo¯ Sanchez, age 90, passed away Friday June 27th, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Sanchez Sr.; son, Robert S. Sanchez Jr., daughter, Margaret A. Sanchez all of Albuquerque, grandchildren, Robert Lewis Sanchez and wife, Teresa of Florida, Carlos A. Sanchez of Albuquerque, and Susan Patricia Barbee of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Britney Alexis Sanchez and Robert Santana Sanchez; brother-in-law, Manuel Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Marie Carbajal and Francis Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Maria Gallegos and seven brothers and sisters. Her father was the Sheriff of Torrance County in 1922. Philomena graduated from Estancia High School and married her High School sweetheart Robert. Robert and Philomena shared nearly 69 years of marriage together. She also was a member of the Alter Rosary Society in Estancia for many years. Weber -- Emile D. Weber, 82, passed away June 28, 2003, after a long valiant struggle with many medical problems. He was born September 26, 1920 in Cleveland, ND to Alfred and Amelia Weber. The family moved to the Billings, MT area when he was 8. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Olive Weber of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters, Emily Hall of Killeen, TX and Gerry Copeland and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Ruth Debus of Rosebud, MT; sister-in-law, Eula Aukshun of Billings, MT; granddaughters, Barbara Chamberlin and husband, Chris of Las Cruces, NM, and Kristin Wilton and husband, Tom, of Ft. Sumner, NM and two great-granddaughters, Allison and Abby of Ft. Sumner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emile retired from the US Army as CWO3 in 1968, a veteran of WWII (Bronze Star recipent) and the Korean War. He held a variety of civilian positions in many places, before finishing his working career as VA-FHA New Home Inspector in Albuquerque in 2001. He was a Mason, member of Sandia Mt #72 and a 32¸ß Scottish Rite member of Panama Canal Consistory. He was also a member of VFW, DAV and The American Legion. He was respected by many people for his honesty, integrity, and compassionate support. He loved hearing and sharing a good joke and creating wooden objects. Emile and Olive enjoyed traveling and RVing. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held at Sunrise Funeral Options, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE on Tuesday, June 1, 2003 at 3:00 p.m., following a viewing at 2:00 p.m. Commital services will be on Thursday, July 3 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Wherland -- Vilma Wherland, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died Saturday, June, 28, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Stevenson and husband, Fred of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Scott Stevenson of Seattle, Washington, Eric Stevenson of Oakland, California; and Victoria Pickrel of Phoenix, Arizona. Vilma worked at Colombia Pictures in Hollywood for 40 years before retiring in 1977. She loved to paint and read in her retirement. Anyone who knew Vilma was a better person for knowing her. Wright -- Harry Allen Wright, 74, of Chandler, AZ wend to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 27, 2003. Harry was born October 4, 1928 near Richmond, KY, the youngest of eight children born to Thomas and Minnie Wright. He graduated from Madison Central High School, Madison, KY in 1946. His wife, Elsie of 52 years, and four children survive him: Michael (Cindy) Wright, Linda (Joe) Paxton, Cathy (Trip) McKinnon, and Patty (Burke) Schroeder; seven grandsons and three granddaughters. Harry, a US Navy veteran, served during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Lake Champlain. He graduated from Sinclair College, Dayton, OH with an associate¯s degree in mechanical engineering. After retiring from Dayton Power and Light, Harry worked as an engineer in the boiler/boiler control industry. In 1987, he relocated to Albuquerque and founded Combustion Systems, Inc. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with pastor Tom Salmon officiating.
