Bolger -- John M. Bolger, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, and formerly of Chelmsford, MA died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in New Mexico at the age of 44. Born August 31, 1958, he was a son of John C. Bolger of Chelmsford, MA and the late Alma B. (Brown) Bolger. He graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1977. Mr. Bolger was a self-employed General Contractor in Albuquerque,NM, and was active in the Project Share Program. Besides his father, he is survived by one daughter, Candiace Marie Bolger of Seattle, WA; three sisters, Katherine K. Bolger of Old Greenwich, CT, Mary N. Bolger of Lowell, MA, and Rebecca B. Small of Chelmsford, MA. He was the brother of the late Ann Marie Bolger. Funeral Services are private. Brown -- Rosemary V. Brown (Vaden) died peacefully at Kaseman Hospice on Tuesday, June 10, 2003. She was born in Mesilla Park, NM, June 27, 1920. She is survived by her sister, Jean Pierce of Albuquerque; son, Dave and daughter-in-law, Donna of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Alice Ann Ferriola and son-in-law, Rick Ferriola of St. Myers, FL; sister-in-law, Sister Mary Josetta of Rogers, AR; grandchildren, Ben and Celia Brown, Robin Wagner, Rick, Tina and Nichole Feriola; great-granddaughter, Amanda; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bernard F. Brown in 2002; parents, Clay and Mary Vaden; brother, Samuel Vaden who was killed in World war II; and sister, Mina Walsh. Rosemary graduated from the Loretto Academy in Santa Fe in 1938 and loved to tell stories of running up and down the now famous Loretto Chapel's"Miracle Staircase" for choir. She also attended New Mexico State Teachers College (Western New Mexico University) in Silver City. She served as Bill Clerk of the New Mexico State Senate in 1939. From 1940 to 1945, she worked at the New Mexico Bureau of Revenue. During World War II, Rosemary was a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol and received an honorary appointment from New Mexico Governor John E. Miles as a Colonel, Aide-de Camp to the Governor's Staff. She met Bernard while he was serving with the Medical Detachment of the 1886th Service Command Unit at Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe during the War. They were married in St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe in 1944. Later, the couple moved to Illinois where his family was located and lived in Springfield where Bernard returned to work as a Pharmacist. Rosemary worked for many years as a bookkeeper with the Rickbial Accounting Firm and then as the head bookkeeper for the B & F Toggery Mens' Stores in Springfield. She was also a volunteer at the St. Agnes Grade School in Springfield where Dave went to school. After retirement in 1980, Bernard and Rosemary returned to New Mexico and lived in Albuquerque where she was involved in the"Golden Agers" and was an avid card player with her friends. Cremation has taken place. A Remembrance reception will be held Thursday, June 19, 2003, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Rosemary's longtime caregiver, Annie Kennelly for all her help and kindness through the years. They would also like to gratefully acknowledge the outstanding staff at Kaseman Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they gave to Rosemary and her family. Chavez -- Joe Nester Chavez Sr., age 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother was welcomed into the arms of our Lord our Savior, after a short illness, on Sunday, June 15, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. Joe Nester was a long time resident of Barelas, and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Filomeno and Elsie Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Alice Chavez of the family home; his children, Joe Nester Chavez Jr. and wife Angela; daughter JoAnna Mondragon, and husband Robert; four granddaughters, Jessica Mullen, and husband Bryce; Claudette Chavez, Donna Chavez, Angelica Chavez; great-granddaughters, Aspen and Joi, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his brothers, Ruben Chavez and wife Bea; Robert Chavez, Ron Chavez and wife Alice, Freddie Chavez, Phil Chavez and wife Diane; four sisters, Eileen Chavez; Vivian Pohl and husband Mike; Agnes Aragon and husband John; Diane Dominguez and husband Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, friends, as well as all his car sales buddies. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. With a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Interments will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Duke -- Sarah Louise Houston Duke, a long time resident of Socorro, NM, passed away on June 4, 2003 from a lengthy illness. She married Glen Paul Duke (deceased) on August 16, 1952 in Truth or Consequences, NM. Garcia -- Gabriel E. Garcia, 19, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 15, 2003. Griffin -- Pluma C. Griffin, passed away on June 14, 2003. A long time resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Bob Griffin and wife, Yvonne; granddaughter, Annelle Griffin; two grandsons, Eric Grffin and Stewart Griffin; five great-grandchildren, Ben Griffin, Jake Griffin, Evan Griffin, Kayla Griffin and Kyle Griffin. Gurule -- Jose (Aparcio), age 85, beloved and devoted father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior and his beloved wife Lucia on Sunday, June 15, 2003. Aparcio was a lifelong resident of Cuba, NM; where he was a rancher, a business owner; and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. He worked as a Livestock Inspector for 35 years; and was a proud World War II Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reyes and Eutimia Gurule; a son, Lawrence Oliver Gurule; brothers, Steve, Robert and Mere Gurule; and a sister, Lucarita Martinez. Jose is survived by loving children, Bobby Gurule and wife Debra, Jeffrey Gurule and wife Darlene, Donna Montoya and husband Anthony; his precious grandchildren, Samuel Gurule, Lindy Gurule, Matthew Gurule, Renee Gurule, Isaac Montoya, Andrea Maestas and husband Kelly, Christopher Gurule, Ryan Montoya, B.J. Montoya, Vanessa Gurule; his great-grandchildren, Joshua Maestas, Mariah Maestas, Alexis Gurule, Lawrence Gurule and Aliza Gurule. Lopez -- Alfonso N. Lopez, 64, our brother, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Saviour, on June 14, 2003. Alfonso was born on December 6, 1938 to Juan and Magdalena Lopez. Alfonso is survived by three sons, Daniel, Vincent, and Kenneth Lopez; daughter, Christina Stewart; father, Juan B. Lopez; sisters, Maryhelen (Bob) Haeffner of Nebraska, Barbara (Richard) Otero, Amelia (Nick) Gonzales both of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter; his ex-wife and friend Dottie Gonzales; aunts, Soledad Ruiz, Lucy (George) Gonzales; uncle, Serafin (Lupe) Lopez; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Alfonso served in the Marine Reserves, was a draftsman worked on the schematics for the MX Missle and Space Shuttle. Alfonso was an accomplished artist, wood carver, and a Barber. Merkle -- Roberta"Bobby" Merkle, born July 12, 1911 in Ashland, Ohio, passed away June 14, 2003 at the family home after a lengthy illness. She moved to New Mexico in 1949 where she resided in Peralta for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert"Shorty" Merkle and her son, Donald Hoffert. She is survived by her only daughter, Dolores Scruggs of Peralta; her four grandchildren, Cheryle Costales of Albuquerque; Susan Wallace of Bosque Farms; Jody Anderson of Peralta and Jerry Hess of Ridgefield, WA; her eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren."Bobby", along with her husband,"Shorty", was co-owner of Albuquerque Generator Exchange retiring in 1973. Sewell -- Hattie T. Sewell, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, died Sunday, June 15, 2003. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Etta Rae Sewell, of Albuquerque; grandsons, Rex Sewell and wife, Barbara, of Albuquerque, and Randal Sewell and wife, Gina, of Las Cruces, NM; granddaughter, Patti Miller and husband, Bill, of Gallup, NM; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, one nephew and many friends at Three Fountains Apartments. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Sewell, in 1987 and her son, Weldon Sewell in 2000. Mrs. Sewell was born in Salem, KY on October 24, 1911. Her father moved the family to the Estancia Valley in the early 1900's where she lived until moving to Albuquerque in 1940. Mrs. Sewell was a member of the Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters and Central United Methodist Church. Speyrer -- Emile Speyrer, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died on Friday, June 13, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Speyrer of Albuquerque; two daughters, Linda Carol Haas and husband, Dennis of Albuquerque and Patricia Ann Graves and husband, Thomas of Los Alamos; five grandchildren, Matthew and Jana Haas and Adam, Melissa and Benjamin Graves; three brothers, Robert Speyrer of Leonville, LA, Henry R. Speyrer and wife, Sue of Woodland, TX and John Speyrer of Metarie, LA; and two sisters, Mary Stelly and husband, Daniel of Opelousas, LA and Edna Mae. Begnaud and husband, Jr. of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Speyrer. Mr. Speyrer was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Mountain Bell Telephone in 1983 after more than 35 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Retirees. Mr. Speyrer had been a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church and had served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as financial secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Ralph York. Young -- Darleen R. Young Darleen R. Young, age 77, resident of Sequim, WA passed away June 12, 2003 at her home. Born December 16, 1925 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Donald and Lucille (Sherman) Brown. Married James Denis Brown on February 2, 1949 in Southern California. She was later wed to the late Robert Leeson Young (June 14, 1970), who passed away April 20, 1999. A resident of California until 1972, she moved with her husband, Robert Young, to Albuquerque, NM. They then settled in Sequim, WA in October 1996 after traveling full time for five years. Darleen enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and snow skiing. She was on the National Ski Patrol for 25 years and an active member of T.O.P.S. Also a member of the National Ski Patrol in Big Bear, CA. She is survived by her son, Thomas Brown of Buena Park, CA; daughter, Kristine McAdam of Sequim, WA; stepdaughter, Michael Markovits of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.
