Goehring -- Robert L. Goehring, longterm resident of Albuquerque and deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend died in Escondido, California following a brief illness. He experienced the victory of new and eternal life on May 12, 2003. Bob lived to enjoy life. He embraced living with both arms and savored the full flavor of every particle of life. He was fiercely devoted to those whom he loved and found deep joy in demonstrating his love through acts of service. He had a wonderful sense of humor, ranging from the sublime to the silly. He was unusual in that he related to people in the same respectful, warm, and engaging manner no matter their situation in society. He was an extremely creative person with a free spirit who did not like to be unduly confined by structure. Bob had a deep, loyal, reverent faith in God. He constantly pursued the truth of his faith and passionately sought the answers to spiritual questions. He could see the love and truth of God as much in a sunset or the play of a puppy as in a sermon or Scripture. His life was dedicated to Jesus Christ and to living an authentic Christian life. Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Maurine, to whom he was passionately devoted. The deepest joy of Bob's life was derived from his love of Maurine and his pleasure in providing for her and lavishing gifts upon her. He is also survived by his son, Marty Goehring and his wife, Cheryl; his two granddaughters, Kelly and Katie; his sister, Nadine Carlson; his nieces, Caryn (Carlson) Ballard, Linda C de Baca, and Betsy Goehring; and his nephews, Glen F. Carlson, Jr., Robert A. Carlson, and Bruce Goehring. Bob was born in Alliance, Ohio, on December 6, 1932. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He worked in advertising and public relations in Albuquerque for many years, including as the Director of Advertising for the Public Service Company of New Mexico. After moving to the San Diego area in the early 1980s, he opened his own agency in advertising and public relations. In 1996, Bob opened a publishing company, Lowell Publishing, and has spent the past seven years in writing and book publishing. Bob devoted a great deal of time and energy over the last several years to the American Trauma Society and the Trauma Research and Education Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Batiquitos Lagoon, Carlsbad, California, and a member of the Accredited Public Relations Society of America. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Trauma Society at 8903 Presidential Parkway, Suite 512, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772-2656 or to the Trauma Research and Education Foundation, 651 E.
