Aragon -- Francisco"Tony" Aragon, 77, a resident of Valencia, NM passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. He was also a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, DAV and VFW. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was wounded in the invasion of Normandy. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, numerous campaign metals, and brought home many distinguished honors. While he was in the service, he sent money home every month to his parents that used the money, to buy farmland. When he returned home he began working on his father's farm, and at the same time, began developing his own land. He was a well-known Valencia County farmer for many years. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Josefita, one brother, Jime. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances of the family home in Valencia; his son, Arthur of the family home; two brothers, Joe M. Aragon and his wife, Erlinda; and Espiridion Aragon all of Valencia; four sisters, Pablita; Emilia; Virginia; and Eufemia Aragon all of Valencia; his three sister-in-laws, Flora Chavez and her husband, Peter of Albuquerque, NM; Josie Espinosa of Albuquerque; and Adelina Espinosa of Belen. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at Romero Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Barker -- Cecil Franklin Barker, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959 passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. Cecil was born September 5, 1913 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had been a Mechanical Engineer in the aero engine manufacturing business before he retired. He and his wife Lucille used to live in the Paradise Hills area. He was very talented, did woodwork; had a lovely tenor voice, and sang at weddings and other events; did live radio work; was a member of the Shriners - Mounted Patrol; the Zia Roamers - RV Club; the Central Indiana Boaters Club; the Bernalillo County Sheriffs Posse; and was a member of the West Mesa Christian Church. Cecil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille of Albuquerque; two sons, Daniel L. Barker and wife Kate of Littleton, CO, and Sidney S. Barker and wife Linda of Cedar Crest, NM; granddaughters, Candace Barker, Jane Smith and husband Joe; grandsons, Heath S. Barker and wife, Shawna, and Micah S. Barker and wife, Nicole; two great-grandchildren, Amber Dawn and Tristan Micah. A CryptsideService will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. Burke -- Frank J. Burke, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his children, John P. Burke and wife, Pattie of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kathleen Burke Anthony of Albuquerque, Michael F. Burke and wife, Jini of Tucson, Arizona, Joseph K. Burke and wife, Mary Ellen of Broomfield, Colorado, Dorothy Burke Fitz-Gerald and husband, Gerald of Albuquerque, and James P. Burke and wife, Veronica Gay of Tucson, Arizona. Frank is also survived by his niece, Mildred Wall of Gallup; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Loneta Johnson Burke, Mary Noonen Burke, and Edith Ashton Burke as well as his brothers, James, Granville and Phillip Burke. Frank was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on September 14, 1910, to Miles Francis and Edna Kenny Burke. He attended school in Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction. He worked at Merchants Bank of Gallup from 1929-1944 as bookkeeper after graduating from Business school. In 1944 he began his long career with New York Life Insurance Company, as the first agent in the western part of New Mexico. Soon thereafter, he founded Gallup Insurance Agency. Frank was a member of the Catholic Church, served on the Gallup City Council 1954-1958, and active in the Amigos of New Mexico, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks. A Visitation will be held at Rollie Mortuary, Friday, April 4, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup, N.M, Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Calabaza -- Delfino Calabaza, age 56, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Monday, March 31, 2003. Delfino was born in Santa Fe, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary; a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served our country during the Vietnam War; and was a member of the American Legion Post #69. Delfino enjoyed golfing, hunting and volunteering for West Mesa Little League Baseball; he was avid reader of Indian history. He was known for his involvement in Native American politics; he wrote many New Mexico Tribal Grants. Delfino will always be remembered by his loving, caring and compassionate nature. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Reyes Calabaza. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie Calabaza of the family home; his wonderful children, Daphne Griffin and husband Darryl, Delfred Calabaza and LaNetta Castillo, Kyle Calabaza; and one precious grandson, D.J. Calabaza all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his mother in law, Mary B. Chavez of Ignacio, CO; numerous brothers; sisters; and other relatives all of Santa Domingo Pueblo, NM. Delfino will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, April 1, 2003 in Santa Domingo Pueblo, NM. Conger -- Alice Conger, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Tuesday, March 22, 2003. She is survived by several cousins and friends who will miss her very much. Contreras -- Aurora Contreras, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, passed away on March 31, 2003. Dixon -- William Smith Dixon, 59, passed away peacefully at his North Valley home on March 27, 2003, after a yearlong courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born on October 5, 1943. He graduated from the Pingry School in New Jersey in 1961. He received a Bachelor of Arts Pi Beta Kappa from Princeton University in 1965. He received a doctor of laws from Yale University in 1968. Bill began a distinguished 35 year legal career with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, PA, in 1968. He was a senior partner at the firm. He was also an adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico Law School teaching constitutional law courses on the First Amendment for 20 years. Among the many awards he received were:"Champion of Liberty" from the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association,"Outstanding Lawyer" from the Albuquerque Bar Association,"Best Lawyers in American for first amendment and business law," and the"First Amendment Torch Award" from the ACLU of New Mexico. In addition, the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government established the 1st Amendment Freedom Award in his name. Bill was passionate about his family, his friends, his clients, freedom of speech, books, the law, politics, tennis and laughter. He was a lawyer's lawyer, who used his exceptional skills in defense of unpopular clients, whether they were large corporations or a solo voice that should be heard. Bill is survived by his wife, Valentina de Cruz-Dixon; his daughters, Naila de Cruz-Dixon, Sarah Dixon, Heather Badal; son-in-law, John Badal; granddaughters, Rhythm and Trinity Badal; sister, Elizabeth Dixon, NY; Bill's son, Santino de Crux-Dixon died four days before his father. Additional survivors are mother-in-law, Adelaida Cruz; sisters-in-law, Lola and husband, Robert Granillo, Frances and husband, Ernest Kemp, Angie Cruz, Adela and husband, Gary Kerns; and brother-in-law, Gregorio Cruz Jr. and wife, Anita, all of Tempe, Arizona, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alma and John Dixon; and father-in-law, Gregorio Cruz. The Dixon family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Patrick Rivera, Dr. Richard Giudice and Dr. Susan Smith for their compassionate and quality medical care. In addition, the family wishes to thank the caring nurses at the New Mexico Cancer Center; Sharon Joyner from Presbyterian Home Health care; Janet, Sarah and Mary Jane from the Presbyterian Hospice with special gratitude to Norma Gutierrez, the hospice chaplain, for the loving support of Bill and the entire family. Fuller -- Mark David Fuller, 49, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 31, 2003. Mark is survived by his mother, Annie; loving caretakers, Almita and Rudy Pacheco of Albuquerque; loyal friends Eloy and Gary; brothers, Drew and Steve of Albuquerque; and sister, Ginger McLamore of McKinney, TX. Mark also had four nieces, Angela, Jeni, Jesi, and Sarah; three nephews, Eric, Kyle and Kory; and one great-niece, Sophia. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Fuller; and his father. Mark was born in Kermit, TX, on September 26, 1953 to Andra Lee Fuller and Annie Lee Moreau Fuller. The family moved to McLean, TX in 1957 and back to Jal, NM in 1966 where Mark graduated from high school in 1972. Mark's school days were filled with many friends and fond memories. He was an avid and gifted golfer throughout his high school days and enjoyed working in the Pro Shop at the Jal Country Club. Mark received a scholarship to play golf for Clarendon"Texas" Jr. College. After his junior college days, Mark joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Monticello. He enjoyed traveling with Rudy and Almita Pacheco and looked forward to their next excursion. He was a good hearted, gregarious and loving person who liked to share his ideas with all. Mark's nieces and nephews dearly loved to chat with him and will truly miss not having conversations about the system. Mark loved macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice, drinking Dr. Peppers, smoking Marlboro cigarettes, and reading candy wrapper labels to the amusement of everyone. The Veterans Hospital Staff were among Mark's biggest fans and were deeply sadden to hear of his passing. Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Leech -- Marian I. Leech, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1937, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003. Marian was born on January 31, 1912 to Peder and Clara Pederson in Dover Township, North Dakota. She graduated from Trinity Hospital School of Nursing, Minot, North Dakota in 1933. She was recruited to work as the operating room nurse supervisor at the Southwestern Presbyterian Sanatorium, Albuquerque in 1937. She remained in that position until her retirement from Presbyterian Hospital in 1975. Marian was married to Oscar Leech on June 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1951. She has been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1940. Marian was preceded in death by her siblings Lillian Reisch, Myrtle Johnson, Gladys Dobson, and Russel L. Pederson. She is survived by sisters Edna McKillop, Monterey, California and Eva Ellis, Billings, Montana, brother Clarence Pederson, Vernal, Utah, and 20 nieces and nephews. Locally she is survived by nephew, Russel D. Pederson and his family. Marian was a devoted friend to Fred and Anita Smith and"Nanny" to their children, Brian Smith and Elisa Baca. She shared her love and laughter with all those around her and wanted nothing but happiness for all she cared for. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her. The family wishes to express their special thanks to the staff of Marler Manor and Zia Hospice for the care Marian received. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, April 14, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School NE. Locher -- Maureen Grace Locher, 58, a long-time resident of Albuquerque passed away at her home on April 1, 2003. Maureen is survived by her loving parents Gerald and Mary Locher of Albuquerque; brothers, Bob Locher of Albuquerque, Dennis Locher, wife, Chris and their son, Travis of Rio Rancho, NM, Ron Locher and wife, Linda Scalise of Yuba City, CA; nieces, Catherine Locher of San Diego, CA, Christine Locher of Chico, CA, Carrie Boarder of Berkeley, CA; nephews, Brian Locher of Chico, CA, and Bobby Boarder of Yuba City, CA; and her long-time special friend and caregiver Bev Elkins. Maureen graduated from Manzano High School. Ms. Locher graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, while in Alaska Maureen worked on the Alaskan pipeline and the North Slope. Maureen was employed by Sandia Nat'l Labs. Private cremation has taken place and at Maureen's request no services will be held. Long -- Tamara"Tammy" Long-Archuleta, Captain Select USAF, was born on May 12, 1979 to Richard and Cindy Long of Belen, NM. She grew up at their family home in Adelino, NM along with her brother, Michael. She attended Belen Public Schools through 6th grade and was home schooled until attending college at UNM-VC. She graduated Valedictorian with her associate's degree and entered the R.O.T.C. program at UNM main campus. She married Jovan Archuleta and had a child, Donaciano Prudencio Archuleta. Tammy graduated from college with her bachelor's degree in Political Science in July of 1999. She received her commission in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lt. and was the first woman to receive her wings through UNM's ROTC program. After a short time in Alamogordo, she began flight training in Del Rio, Texas on small jets. From there, Tammy was assigned to helicopter school in Enterprise, Alabama. Tammy had been divorced from her husband and was raising her son while she completed training. She finished helicopter training on the Pave Hawk HH-60G Search and Rescue copter at Kirtland Air Force Base in September 2002 before being assigned to the 41st Expeditionary Rescue Squadron at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia. While completing water and mountain survival training and her P.O.W. training, she met and became engaged to a wonderful man, 1st Lt. Richard Casey Moores, a C-130 Airplane pilot for the Air Force. Tammy and Casey were planning a June wedding at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, where he had graduated. At 23, Tammy was at one of the happiest points in her life while raising her son, piloting her combat rescue helicopter, and anticipating her marriage to Casey. All of this came to an end on Sunday, March 23, 2003 when her helicopter crashed into a mountain in Afghanistan. She was on a mission to evacuate wounded Afghan children. All six on board lost their lives. It is an indescribable tragedy for the Long and Moores family, as well as her close friends. Growing up in Belen, Tammy was an accomplished student, winning the Optimist Oratorical District contest for six years. She was an accomplished Girl Scout and swimmer. Other accomplishments include Karate Championships at the State, National, and World level as a third degree black belt and instructor at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School. Tammy was also a wonderful artist, sculptor, and author. In every activity and endeavor in her life she excelled, representing her self, family, community, and country in a manor that made anyone who knew her feel proud. She died the same way she lived. She is survived by her beloved son, Donaciano Prudencio Archuleta; her parents, Cindy and Richard Long; her brother, Michael Long; and grandmother, Rebecca Long; her fiancé, 1st Lt. Richard Casey Moores; Uncle Michael Long, Retired Air Force; Aunt Debbie Long; and cousins, Lauren, Andy, and Mark; Jovan Archuleta; and her many dear friends. A Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in Tammy's name, acct. #2009323, at any First State Bank. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School (101 Becker Avenue). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley (located on Hwy. 85 in Belen) beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Growing up in Belen, Tammy was an accomplished student, winning the Optimist Oratorical District contest for six years. She was an accomplished Girl Scout and swimmer. Other accomplishments include Karate Championships at the State, National, and World level as a third degree black belt and instructor at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School. Tammy was also a wonderful artist, sculptor, and author. In every activity and endeavor in her life she excelled, representing her self, family, community, and country in a manor that made anyone who knew her feel proud. She died the same way she lived. She is survived by her beloved son, Donaciano Prudencio Archuleta; her parents, Cindy and Richard Long; her brother, Michael Long; and grandmother, Rebecca Long; her fiancé, 1st Lt. Richard Casey Moores; Uncle Michael Long, Retired Air Force; Aunt Debbie Long; and cousins, Lauren, Andy, and Mark; Jovan Archuleta; and her many dear friends. A Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in Tammy's name, acct. #2009323, at any First State Bank. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School (101 Becker Avenue). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2003 at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley (located on Hwy. 85 in Belen) beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Luchetti -- Dennis Luchetti a lawyer and rancher, died early Tuesday morning at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque surrounded by family, he was 55. He was born in Abiquiu to Fiore and Orlinda Luchetti. His father was a pipefitter who traveled often. Dennis was brought up by his maternal grandparents, Gregorita Martinez Garcia de Trujillo and Adelaido Trujillo on the family farm in Abiquiu. There he learned to cultivate the land and raise cattle. His first language was Spanish. He went on to attend McCurdy High School in Espanola and at the age of 17 enrolled at the University of New Mexico earning a degree in history. While at UNM he worked at the radio station on campus and on his show interviewed various notables including Cesar Chavez. He pursued postgraduate work at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. In 1975, he graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School and spent the following summer in Mexico City doing archival research in land grant and water law. He began law practice with the late Matia L. Chacon and later opened his own practice in Arroyo Seco. His long career included work as a trial lawyer. He was also an attorney for the county of Rio Arriba. A deep passion for ranching kept him involved in many activities. He was a past president of the Abiquiu land Grant, held a position as an acequia commissioner and still farmed his land in Abiquiu. Dennis was a gifted artist and a talented musician. He was a friend to Georgia O'Keefe and would often go to visit and read to her. She attended his graduation ceremony from law school and routinely bought produce and eggs from Dennis' grandmother, Gregorita. His paternal grandfather, Amadeo Luchetti, immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and entered the country through Ellis Island in New York City. The young miner made his way across the country and found work in the mines of Monero, NM. The family homestead in Monero would later become a family retreat and a place where Dennis would graze his cattle. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Eaton, a physician; daughter, Ursula who is a student at UNM; son, Giovanni who is studying at New Mexico Tech; another, son, Sam; and daughter, Brandy who are both students at Pojoaque High School; as well as his little toddler, Marisol. A Rosary was held at La Morada in Hernandez. The Funeral Mass will take place at Saint John the Baptist Church in San Juan Pueblo on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Abiquiu Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 758, Abiquiu, NM 87510.

Mcmanaway -- Mr. Harold E. McManaway, 61, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on April 1,2003. Mr. McManaway is the beloved husband of 42 years to Mrs. Carolina McManaway. Mr. McManaway is also survived by his two daughters, Carol McManaway and fiance, Gilbert Bachicha and Lois Lucero; four sons, Bill McManaway and wife, Isabel, Tommy McManaway, Ronald McManaway and fiance, Matilda Yanni, Donald McManaway and fiance, Lorie Melcher; one sister, Lois Hottinger and husband, Jerry; 22 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Montoya -- Eva G. Montoya went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2003. A lifelong resident of Cuba, NM, she is preceded in death by her mother, Leonore Montoya Hoch; and son, Marvin. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gabriel Montoya Jr.; a very special and very close granddaughter, Denise Montoya; son, Adam Montoya Sr.; grandchildren, Daphne Montoya, Tina Dorado and husband, Steve, Adam Montoya Jr., and wife, Bernadette, Pearlita Mc Vay and husband, Dan, Pam Newkirk and husband, Michael; and ten great-grandchildren; very close family friends, Brenda Moffett, Patricia Sena, and Greta Clifton. Rollag -- Ole J. Rollag, 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died Thursday, April 3, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Buddy Rollag of Albuquerque; sons, Mark D. Rollag and wife, Virginia Johnson of Chevy Chase MD and Tom Rollag of Anthony, NM; grandsons, Benjamin Rollag of Albuquerque and Ole Rollag and wife, Catherine; great-grandson, Nicklos Rollag, all of Luxembourg; and sister, Avis Lovro and husband, Stan of Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Rollag was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Dr. Rollag practiced Veterinary Medicine for 30 years, and was selected twice for the New Mexico Veterinarian of the Year. He built Blue Cross, Sandia and Manzano Animal Clinic. Dr. Rollag served on the New Mexico State Public Health Veterinarian for nine years and was Executive Director of the New Mexico Veterinarian Examining Board for seven years. He was very active in the Local, State and National Veterinary Associations, was a past member of Coronado Toastmasters, Elks Club, Albuquerque Rotary Club and the Lions Club. Dr. Rollag was past President of the Four Hills Country Club. Ballut Abyad Shrine and Duke City Bridge Club. Salazar -- Mary Salazar, age 87, passed away on April 1, 2003. She was born in Pagosa Springs, CO on February 17, 1916. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Stevens -- Amber Nicole Stevens, 15. Born June 10, 1987. Amber was returned to the Lord on March 22, 2003. She is survived by her parents, Transito Stevens of Albuquerque; Brenda Lee Stevens of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Alfredo"Freddie" Earl Stevens and grandmother, Annabel Stevens both of Albuquerque. A host of very dear family and friends. She achieved the Honor Roll at Taft Middle School. She enjoyed being in the choir, playing the violin, basketball, and her favorite place of serenity was Eagle Nest Lake. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 5, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Stromberg -- Robert Patrick Stromberg passed away April 1, 2003. Son of Gustaf A. Stromberg and Marcella (McMahon) Stromberg,"Bob" was born August 10, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bob served as a navigator in the US Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. After WWII, Bob attended the University of Minnesota including graduate studies in physics. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Stromberg and brother Thomas Gustaf Stromberg of Minneapolis. Bob and Pat had 10 children. Bob was preceded in death by sons Joe (1959), John (1954-1975) and Tom (1953-2000). Surviving children include Mary"Hari" Sheppeard, Mark, Ann Mahony, Peter, Paul, James, Marcella; and 21 grandchildren. Bob and Pat were founding members of the Holy Ghost Parish in 1952. Bob worked at Sandia National Labs from 1950-1991. Bob held patents on a weightlessness switch and a solar tracking device. His contributions at Sandia included weapons safing development and starting the solar energy group. Bob shared his time with friends and family in church activities, as well as tinkering, hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and traveling. Bob was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1993 and served the Archdiocese of Santa Fe until his retirement in 2000. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2003 and the Funeral will be on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. Both Services will be at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 921 Arizona, S.E.
