Campbell -- George Wesley Campbell died at the age of 77 on March 29, 2003 at the Veteran's Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery Blvd. NE. Mr. Campbell will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a sports enthusiast. He worked as a real estate broker for 32 years. He loved the outdoors and gardening. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Doris Joan Campbell; sister, Maxine Easton Sandoval; five children; three stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Cleland -- Roy G. Cleland, age 61, died Friday, March 29, 2003 in Albuquerque. He is preceeded in death by his daughter, Peppi Jean Cleland. He is survived by his wife, Delmarie Cleland of Albuquerque; daughter, Julie Novak and husband, Tom of Leavenworth, KS; and son, Curt Cleland of MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robyn, Samantha, Nicholas, Whitney, Adam, and Ashley; brothers and sisters, Alice Dollard, Ruby McCowan, Sheldeen Perkins and husband, Dennis, Mickey Jones and wife, Sandy, and Harry Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and special cousins. Roy was an active coach of little league football for many years and a passionate farmer who loved animals. He will be greatly missed. Cottrell -- Beatrice A. Cottrell, age 86 and a resident of Albuquerque for 83 years died Monday following an illness. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and received both her B.A. and M.A. from the University of New Mexico. Miss Cottrell had taught at Armijo Elementary School in the South Valley for many years. She enjoyed writing poetry and was an outdoors person having ridden horses until she was 80 and rescued many animals and took very good care of them. Davis -- Louise E. Davis, 76, born in Dean Lake, MO on September 2, 1926, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1937, died Saturday, March 29, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Jessie B. Davis of Topeka, KS and Evelyn Brown of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Johnny Williams, Michael Williams and David Brown; three great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Carr of Reno, NV; brother, Donald Carr of California; and niece Patty Gallegos of Peralta. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husbands, Ed Davis and Clifford Elliott; brother, William J. Carr, daughter, Louise A. Davis; and grandchildren, Deana Brown, Rodney Williams and Janet Williams. She worked for 44 years with the Santa Fe Railroad in Albuquerque and retired in 1990. Mrs. Davis will be deeply missed by her family and her dear friends she had made during her life. Services will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Dixon -- Santino Salvador de Cruz-Dixon (Rufus), age 25. Born: November 19, 1977 Died: March 23, 2003Santino had a smile that lit up the night. Santino's engaging smile made you pause from your worries to feel a warm glow. Santino's open smile made quick friends out of strangers anxious to know this happy spirit. Santino's loving smile reached a place inside you where words don't go. Everyone who received his smile has its imprint stamped in their hearts. Santino loved to fish, cycle and repair old cars. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. He loved to help others. Mostly, he loved to look you in the eye and smile. Santino attended Sandia Prep School and graduated from Cushing Academy. He is survived by his mother, Valentina de Cruz-Dixon. His father, William S. Dixon, passed away four days after Santino. Elmendorf -- Harry H. Jr. (Hank), age 54, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 after a long bout with cancer. He was born in Waco, Texas and traveled with his Air Force family until college called. He graduated from Highland High School, Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a graduate of New Mexico State University, earning both Bachelors and Masters degrees. Hank in survived by his wife, Jean and stepson, Tyler; his parents, Col. Harry and Rosemary Elmendorf of Albuquerque; a sister, Susan Elmendorf Griffin of Reserve, New Mexico; Susan's children, Kay Griffin of Denver, Colorado, Ty Griffin and wife, Nichole and their son, Luke of Lubbock, Texas, Couy Griffin of Paris, France, and Ryan Griffin of Reserve, New Mexico; his auns, Zela Lorenz of Boerne, Texas and Durelle Sargent and husband, Alan, of Vancouver, Washington; Hank's special cousin, Robin Tonkin, and wife, Stephanie, of Albuquerque; and many other cousins. Hank was an avid racing fan, having particpated from age 12 until the present. He and Jean have been business associates in sports bars in Albuquerque, which included Duffy's, Stetson's and presently, Marrlarky's at Hotel Circle. He and Jean's loyal employees and patrons have expressed their great sorrow in his passing. He will be missed! Garcia -- Jose Jubencio Garcia born on January 25, 1920 to Luz and Cristobal Garcia in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico. He moved to Albuquerque in 1955 where he lived until his death on Friday, March 28, 2003 after an extended illness. Mr. Garcia is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Garcia; sons, Jose J. (Sonny) Garcia Jr. and wife, Shirley of Albuquerque, Christobal Garcia and wife, Patsy of Giblert, AZ; daughter, Dolores Good and husband, Bob Burkhalter of Albuquerque; step-sons, Arthur Johnson Jr. and Wesley Johnson both of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Margaret Ruth Selmier of Indiana; sister, Renugia Atencio and family of Albuquerque, the family of his deceased sister, Lola Martinez. he was known as"Papa" to his five grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. Glenn -- Ella (Pope) Glenn died in Tombstone, AZ on March 21, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Bill; two sisters, Julia Greene and Tressa Giffin; one brother, Bob Greene; one son, Earl Pope and wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Jane Carlton and husband, Johnny. Long-Archuleta -- Long- Tamara"Tammy" Long-Archuleta, Captain Select USAF, was born on May 12, 1979 to Richard and Cindy Long of Belen, NM. She grew up at their family home in Adelino, NM along with her brother, Michael. She attended Belen Public Schools through 6th grade and was home schooled until attending college at UNM-VC. She graduated Valedictorian with her associate's degree and entered the R.O.T.C. program at UNM main campus. She married Jovan Archuleta and had a child, Donaciano Prudencio Archuleta. Tammy graduated from college with her bachelor's degree in Political Science in July of 1999. She received her commission in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lt. and was the first woman to receive her wings through UNM's ROTC program. After a short time in Alamogordo, she began flight training in Del Rio, Texas on small jets. From there, Tammy was assigned to helicopter school in Enterprise, Alabama. Tammy had been divorced from her husband and was raising her son while she completed training. She finished helicopter training on the Pave Hawk HH-60G Search and Rescue copter at Kirtland Air Force Base in September 2002 before being assigned to the 41st Expeditionary Rescue Squadron at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia. While completing water and mountain survival training and her P.O.W. training, she met and became engaged to a wonderful man, 1st Lt. Richard Casey Moores, a C-130 Airplane pilot for the Air Force. Tammy and Casey were planning a June wedding at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, where he had graduated. At 23, Tammy was at one of the happiest points in her life while raising her son, piloting her combat rescue helicopter, and anticipating her marriage to Casey. All of this came to an end on Sunday, March 23, 2003 when her helicopter crashed into a mountain in Afghanistan. She was on a mission to evacuate wounded Afghan children. All six on board lost their lives. It is an indescribable tragedy for the Long and Moores family, as well as her close friends. Growing up in Belen, Tammy was an accomplished student, winning the Optimist Oratorical District contest for six years. She was an accomplished Girl Scout and swimmer. Other accomplishments include Karate Championships at the State, National, and World level as a third degree black belt and instructor at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School. Tammy was also a wonderful artist, sculptor, and author. In every activity and endeavor in her life she excelled, representing her self, family, community, and country in a manor that made anyone who knew her feel proud. She died the same way she lived. She is survived by her beloved son, Donaciano Prudencio Archuleta; her parents, Cindy and Richard Long; her brother, Michael Long; and grandmother, Rebecca Long; her fiance, 1st Lt. Richard Casey Moores; uncle, Michael Long, Retired Air Force; aunt, Debbie Long; and cousins, Lauren, Andy, and Mark; Jovan Archuleta; and her many dear friends. A University of NM Valencia Campus Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in Tammy's name, at any First State Bank, acct. #2009323; also, a college scholarship fund has been set up in Tammy's son's name, Donaciano Archuleta with the 45 Bancorp/Piper-Jaffray, 1050 17th 5th 2100, Denver, CO 80265, acct. #1187-8261. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Belen Goju Ryu Karate School (101 Becker Avenue). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley (located on Hwy. 85 in Belen) beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a Funeral Service following at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jay Armstrong officiating. Lopez -- Juan Carlos Lopez. Born on April 11, 1931 in Truchas, NM went into the arms of the Lord on March 29, 2003. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 49 years, Esther; one daughter, Anita and her husband, Ruben Chavez; two grandchildren, Elisa and Andrea; and one great-grandchild, Amberley. He is also survived by his brother, Silas Lopez of Las Vegas, NM; sisters-in-law, Ernestina Lopez and Theresa Lopez; and many relatives and friends. Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Domitila Lopez; and siblings, Eli, Aaron and Alicia. Juan attended the Allison James and Menaul Presbyterian schools and was a graduate of New Mexico Highlands and received a Masters Degree from Denver University School of Social Work. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he received three bronze stars and a United Nations Service medal. Juan had been assigned to the Colombian Army as an interpreter. He retired from NM State Government in 1987. During his career he was city manger of Espanola and director of Public Works for the City of Santa Fe. He loved fishing and his beautiful Truchas Mountains. A Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Located at 208 Grand Street. Nielson -- Ruth Nadine Nielsen was born December 29, 1917 in a farm house near Blue Springs, Nebraska to Waldo Emerson and Hildred Hull Mowry. She was the third of eight children. She died in the arms of her Savior Jesus March 29, 2003 at the Presbyterian Hospice, Anna Kaseman Hospital, Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 85 years and 3 months. She graduated from the Holmesville Nebraska High School. During World War II she helped build the Beechcraft AT-10 training aircraft near Wichita, KA, and as an inspector for Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines near Kansas City. She worked as an inspector for eight years with the Elgin Watch Company, Lincoln, NE. During later years, she enjoyed serving as a Nanny for many Albuquerque families. On May 29,1956 she was united in marriage to Martin Nielsen of Western, NE at Faith Lutheran Church, Lincoln, NE. Their first home was in Fort Worth, TX. She was a faithful US Air Force wife following her husband to assignments at San Bernardino, CA, Puntzi Mountain Air Force Station, British Columbia, Canada, Moses Lake, WA, Lincoln, NE, Los Angeles, CA, Washington, DC, Tempe, AZ, and finally Kirtland AFB, NM. While living in Canada, she was an avid trout fisherman. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Albuquerque. She served as a leader in Boy and Girl Scouting and was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Ladies Guild. She liked to travel and had visited Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. She enjoyed traveling around the United States in their light plane with her husband and the children. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Iva Maxine Crawford; brothers, Merlin, Charles, Waldo Elton, and an infant brother, Robert; brothers-in-law Robert Crawford and Jamie Porter. Survivors include her husband, Martin Nielsen; daughter, Lori Cords and husband, John of Edgewood, NM, son, Gary Nielsen of Albuquerque; grandson, Shaun Thompson of Edgewood, NM; sisters, Edna Mae Porter of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Lorene Ellison and husband, Don of Humbolt, KA. Also mourning her passing is a very special family of Doctors Margaret and T.Y. Chu of Alexandria, VA and Albuquerque, NM and their children, Arthur and wife, Jariya of New York City, Mae Mae at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NYC, and Sha Sha at Stanford University, CA. Patrick -- John"Jack" Patrick, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979 passed away March 29, 2003. Born in Illinois, John moved with his family to Merrill, WI at the age of 14, attended High School there and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Drafted into the Army in 1941, John fought in the South Pacific with the 33rd Infantry Div., received the Bronze Star with clusters and served in the Army of Occupation in Japan; After leaving the Army, he made his home in Normal, Illinois. Recalled to Service at the outbreak of the Korean War, John was wounded and rescued from behind enemy lines by a helicopter pilot who subsequently was awarded with the Medal of Honor for his efforts. John was awarded the Purple Heart. John was a life member of VFW Post 1639, Merrill, WI. After the war, John returned to Normal, IL. He retired from Eureka-Williams Co. before moving to Albuquerque. Survivors include: Sisters: Marcia Garihee and Laurie Garihee both of Albuquerque; Niece: Sandra (Robl) Pitts and husband, Frank, Albion, NY; Nephews: James Robl and wife Peggy of Merrill, WI, Jeffrey Robl and wife Loretta of Schofield, WI and their families. Payne -- Rubinelle Polk Payne, 89, died on March 28, 2003 in Albuquerque. She was born in Rotan, TX to Zade and Mame Gardner Polk. In 1985 she moved to Albuquerque from Roswell. While in Roswell, she was a member of the Methodist Church and longtime member of Roswell Country Club. She loved watching her grandson's sporting events. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Payne in 2002; and a sister, Sterlyn Hubbard. Richardson -- Dorothy Palmer Richardson, 76, died peacefully March 26, 2003 in Austin, TX, surrounded by her family. She was born in Hitchcock, Oklahoma February 23, 1927, and moved to Albuquerque in 1960. She was an administrator in the Department of Neurology at the University of New Mexico for 31 years, from its inception in the summer of 1964 until her retirement in 1995. In 1999, Dorothy moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Harrison Palmer in 1962; and later by her second husband, John William Richardson in 2002. She is survived by her son, Scott Palmer; daughter, Melanie Palmer and husband, George Murphy; and her granddaughter, Savannah Murphy. She leaves behind many beloved friends and colleagues in Albuquerque. A graveside ceremony will be held at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Watonga, Oklahoma on April 5, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Roberts -- Joan Roberts was born on October 29, 1944 to Nona Mae and Norman G. Roberts of Albuquerque, NM. She was a 1963 graduate of Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ, and a former resident of Tampa, FL before relocating to Albuquerque, NM in 2001 to be near her dad. Joanie always had the burning desire to own and operate her own mail order business and lived that dream until her untimely demise on March 29, 2003. She had a very strong belief in God and found a church family with the New Hope Baptist Church of Albuquerque. Joanie was preceded in death by her mother, Nona Mae Roberts. She is survived by her dad and stepmother, Norman and Vilma Roberts of Albuquerque; her sister, Pat of Bronx, NY; her aunt, Pauline Scott of North Carolina; her special cousin, Edith Oliver; her godson, Andrew; her stepsister, Geri Seigler; stepbrothers, Matthew and Lloyd; cousins, Bruce, Robert and Reginald Reavis, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews from New Jersey and New Mexico. Salazar -- Donald M. Salazar of Santa Fe died peacefully on March 28, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Bergit and children, Auben and Paul; mother, Carmelita Salazar; brothers, Michael Salazar and Frank Salazar; sister, Barbara Jaynes and husband, Ron, all of Albuquerque; brother, Richard"Rico" Salazar and wife, Eva Behrens of Taos; and brother, David Salazar of Austin, Texas. Don was born on March 23, 1947 in Albuquerque to Carmelita and Paul Salazar. He grew up in Albuquerque where his family owned Salazar & Sons Mortuary. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Literature at the University of Arizona, Don received his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley where he was a Reginald Heber Smith Scholar. While in law school, Don met his wife to be, Bergit. They have been happily married for over thirty years. In 1993, Don joined the Rubin, Katz, Salazar, Alley, Rouse & Herdman law firm in Santa Fe where he remained for the rest of his career. He previously practiced with the Santa Fe and Albuquerque law firm of Sutin, Thayer and Browne. Don will be remembered for his significant community involvement and leadership. At the time of his death, Don served as a Regent of the University of New Mexico and on the board of directors of Rancho de las Golondrinas Museum, the Santa Fe Fiesta Foundation, the First National Bank of Santa Fe, and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Over the years he was also a director of the United Way of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Santa Fe Economic Development, Inc., Santa Fe Country Club, and the Santa Fe Festival of the Arts. A Funeral Service for Mr. Salazar will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 10:30 a.m., St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe. The interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. Trujillo -- Rebecca Trujillo, age 82, beloved mother, sister and aunt was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Sunday, March 30, 2003. Rebecca was born on May 13, 1920 in Cuba, NM to the late Liberato and Manuelita Romero. She was preceded in death by her husband Heracilo Trujillo in 1980; sisters, Lisiada, Placida; brothers, Ernest, Trinidad and Frank. She is survived by her daughter Sara Mitchell; one grandson, Jason; two brothers, Tranilliano Romero and wife Agnes, Eliseo Romero; one sister Beatrice Duran and husband Louie; special friends, Rebecca, Sally and Laura; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Rebecca will be greatly missed by her loving family and those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be held Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary, where a rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
