He was a beloved husband, loving father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Anderson -- Virginia Anderson, 75, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 15, 2003. She was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church, Alter Society, PTA of Los Lunas, and the Valencia County Extension Club. She worked at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School as a secretary for many years. Virginia enjoyed her many friendships made while participating in the activities at the Los Lunas Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, James"Jim" in 2000; her son, Philip Eamon in 1958; parents, Ralph and Tillie Bocell; and her two brothers, Stanley and Gilbert Bocell. She is survived by her eight children, Catherine Anderson of Albuquerque; Stephen Anderson and his wife, Linda of Woodland Park, CO; Helen Anderson of Anton Chico, NM; Maurine Davis and her husband, Michael of Rio Rancho; Loraine Sanchez and her husband, Donald of Los Lunas; Paul S. Anderson and his wife, Wanda of Albuquerque, Mary Anderson of Albuquerque; and Dolores Yarosz and her husband, Ted of Troy, TX; 13 loving grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews."Sister" is also survived by her brother, Robert Bocell of TX. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 5:30pm followed by a Rosary at 6:00pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the San Clemente Catholic Church at 10:00am with interment following at the Los Lentes Catholic Cemetery. Baker -- Harold Knight Baker was born in Temple, OK August 12, 1929. During his last days here, he was surrounded by his family. He left this world peacefully to be with Jesus March 15, 2003. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Zeb and Bertha Baker. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanette; brother, Ron and wife, Celina of Albuquerque; daughters, Judy and husband, Lynn of Aztec, NM, Kathi and husband, Ron of Idaho, Eileen and husband, Bob of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; niece, Debbie; and precious cat, Belay. Harold moved to New Mexico at the age of 16 and has resided in Albuquerque since 1948. He worked for Sandia Auto Electric for 53 years. His quick-wit and sense of humor always brought smiles and laughter to his family. Harold's greatest joy was his family. He will be missed tremendously. Bechdol -- Grace Marie Bechdol, age 76, a resident of New Mexico for 32 years died March 16, 2003. Survivors included her daughter, Teresa Ann Harness; sons, Mike Bechdol, Tim Bechdol, Jeff Bechdol, Marshall Bechdol; brother, Marshall Smith; 15 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in the Christian Faith Fellowship Church, Gallina, NM. Chavez -- Roy Raymond Chavez, 50, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday March 15, 2003. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose A. Chavez., He is survived by his father, Gabriel P. Chavez and wife,¯ Agnes of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his companion, Dywane Gentilini of Albuquerque; daughter, Felicia Martinez and husband, Rod; sister, Jeannette Chavez and Robert Clapp of Grants; sister, Dolores Sisneros and husband, Ben; brother, Danny Chavez of California; sister, Dianne Slater of California, Sarah Angie Gutierrez of Albuquerque. His only grandson, Romeo Martinez; and 16 nephews and nieces. Special thanks to Dr. Fachyi Lee at UNM Hospital. At the end of his life he was under the care of University Hospice. Clayton -- Willis"Bill" Clayton, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Sunday, March 16, 2003. He is survived by his two sisters, Martha Tucker of Santa Fe and Charlotte Brice of Oklahoma City, OK; sons, Ronald Clayton and wife, Susan of Grand Canyon, AZ and Rick Clayton and wife, Betty of Albuquerque; daughter, Sharon Zeman and husband, Phillip of Chaparral, NM; six grandchildren, Victoria Zeman, Warren Zeman, Katie Clayton, Jenifer Clayton, Coy Clayton and Will Clayton. Ellison -- Michael (Vernon) Lee Ellison, 1934-2003. Mike Ellison, a resident of Bosque Farms, was born on May 15, 1934 and he died on March 17, 2003 at 4:00 a.m. He was raised by his mother and father, Pat and Al Ellison, in California. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy to fight for our country. In the year 1965, he married the love of his life, Donna Sue Eastman and together they raised seven children; six daughters and one son, Ronda, Brenda, Michelle, Wendy, Mike, Dana, and Tina. They have 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, and an amazing golfer. His sense of humor and quick wit always brought laughter and joy to his family and anyone who met him. He will be deeply missed. Mr. Ellison will be cremated at Direct Funeral Services. Memorial Services will be held in his honor at the Ellison home on March 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m.,"The pains of death surrounded me, and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord: 'O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!" Psalm 116:3 and 4.

Fitzpatrick -- Blanche Amberg Fitzpatrick, lifelong human rights activist and peace advocate, died in her home Sunday. Blanche was raised in Detroit where her father was a surgeon and her mothers family owned a corset factory and department store. She first came to New Mexico to see her father's birthplace, his fathers trading post on the Santa Fe Plaza. Blanche moved to Albuquerque in 1952 with her second husband, the late William G. Fitzpatrick, who became locally prominent as dynamic leader of the advocacy-based Legal Aid Society in the late 1960s. Blanche received B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1936, a Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University in 1945, and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law 1953, where she was one of the first female graduates. Blanche worked as a Social Worker the Detroit Children' s Court. In Albuquerque she co-founded the Center For Peace and Justice, and received it's Peace Award in 1986. She was a national ACLU Board Member for many years, and received the ACLU Outstanding Civil Libertarian Award in 1990. Blanche lobbied hard for the New Mexico Children's Code. After becoming visually impaired, she volunteered¯ doing laundry at St. Martins Shelter . Blanche loved nature and cherished memories of animals and wilderness, hiking, riding horseback, and kayaking. She is survived by her son, Tom; daughter-in-law, Anne; grandchildren, Max and Laura; nieces, nephews, and many, many dear friends. In 1972 Blanche moved to La Luz to play tennis. A memorial will be on the lawn under the cottonwood, next to the tennis courts at La Luz, on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 12:00 noon. Glocker -- Margaret Allen Glocker, 89, a resident of La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque since 1994, died Saturday, March 15, 2003. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Glocker of Albuquerque; numerous cousins; nieces; and nephews, all living in the Midwest. Margaret was born in Victoria, British Columbia and moved to the United States as a young toddler. She lived in the Dayton, Ohio area for around 60 years. Margaret served for many years as a federal employee with Civil Service. She was working in the Procurement Department at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base upon her retirement. Margaret was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church, always enjoying singing in the choir. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., in Carter Hall at La Vida Llena Life Care Retirement Community, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, with Rev. Hawkins -- Raymond R. Hawkins, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, March 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Charlta A. Hawkins of the family home; son, R. Richard Hawkins II of Santa Clara, CA; daughters, Valerie Peavey and husband, Fred of Richmond, TX and Denise West of Bloomington, IN; stepson, W.R. Bill Humphries and wife, Carol of Lindrith, NM; five grandchildren, Michael Peavey, Brandon Peavey, Christopher Hawkins, Heidi Humphries and Cheryl Knight; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hawkins attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy and received his Marine Engineer Degree. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and later retired from the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, J.G. Mr. Hawkins was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. John¯s since 1984 where he served on the Vestry. He retired from the railroad having served as President and General Manager of Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad Company and Director of Labor Relations, Southern Railway Company, Washington, D.C. He later became an independent Arbitrator and was a member of the National Association of Arbitrators. Mr. Hawkins was also a member of the Albuquerque Rotary Club. He graduated from the University of Louisville, KY, School of Law, J.D. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th Street at Silver SW. His remains will be interred in Louisville, KY. Johnson -- Joe Brown Johnson, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Good Samaritan Village in Socorro, NM. He was born November 2, 1907 in Acworth, GA to Minera Cicero and Lou Ella Johnson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia Ione Johnson; daughter, Bona June Gray; and granddaughter, Michele Umphenour. He is survived by his son, Joseph J. Lovato -- Mrs. Emma Lovato passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 92. Mrs. Lovato is preceded in death by Frank Lovato Sr. (Pancho). She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Frank Lovato and wife, Erlinda, Arthur Lovato and wife, Judi and Herman Lovato; brothers, Tony Padilla, Edward Padilla and Eustacio Padilla; sisters, Isabel Kozlowski, Flora Castillo and Cecilia Armijo; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Lujan -- Christina Lujan-Bonds, 60, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on March 15 after an eight-year battle with leukemia. She worked for thirty years with the Department of Energy's and was a Program Analyst with the Transportation Safeguards Division when she retired in 1996. For many years she attended and served as a volunteer with Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church and was a secertary with the Parish. Born in Torreon she moved to Albuquerque after graduating from high school in the early 1960's. Her husband, Chuck Bonds; and son, Charles; her sisters, Andrea Lujan, Berlinda Lujan, Mary Chavez and brother, Raymond Lujan; and his wife, Flora form Albuquerque; and sister, Jenny Valdez form Santa Fe survive her. Mellenbrook -- Norman A."Doc" Mellenbrook, 97, of io Rancho, NM, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Albuquerque. Cremation arrangements were handled by Sunrise Funeral Options. No services are planned. Dr. Mellenbrook was born April 7, 1905 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only son of John and Elsie Mellenbrook. He graduated from Hiram College and received his optometric degree from Northern Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Mellenbrook was first associated with Kalal Optical Co. of Cleveland. He later had his own optometric practice in Ashland, Ohio, for many years. He and his wife retired to New Mexico in 1967."Doc" Mellenbrook lived briefly in Tombstone, AZ, then returned to Rio Rancho, NM around 1990. He was an active member of the Meadowlark Senior Center in Rio Rancho until he gave up driving in April 2002. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge. Dr. Mellenbrook is survived by his daughter, Kay Watts of San Diego, CA; his son-in-law, Gene; his grandson, Sgt. Eugene Watts, Jr.; his granddaughter, Donna, and two nieces. Morales -- Maria Luisa Candelaria Morales"Luisa", was born September 24, 1916 in Albuquerque, and passed away March 16, 2003 with her loving family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Israel Morales Sr; her father, Quirino Candelaria; brother, Lazaro Candelaria; son, Blas Morales; and great-grandson, Evan Martinez. Luisa is survived by her four children, Arlene Morales and Archie Salazar, Manuel and Di Ann Morales, Israel Jr. and Ernestine Morales, Selfa and Ed Martinez; one brother, Richard Candelaria; niece Virginia ¯Gina¯ and Ernest Griego; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Salvo -- John B. Salvo, 71, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann B. Salvo; five children, Anne Marie Salvo-Lujan and her husband, Clyde of Taylorsville KY, William A. Salvo and his wife, Mary Louise of Albuquerque, Robert B. Salvo and his wife, Judy of Horse Springs, NM, Rebecca J. Salvo-Jaramillo and her husband, Sam of Albuquerque and Susan D. Salvo-Wendt and her husband, Mark of Moriarty, NM; 14 grandchildren, Rebecca M. Vallejos and her husband, Juan, Julia M. Salvo, Robert Rubio, Michael Rubio, Christopher Rubio, Matthew Rubio and Bryan Rubio, Dominic R. Salvo, Dylan Salvo and his wife, Jessica, Johnny B. Salvo II, Benjamin J. Melendrez, Jeremy M. John was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Maddalena Salvo; brother, Dominic (Babe) Salvo; sister, Lin Rieger; mother-in-law, Bee Badgett; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Salvo. John was born May 9, 1931 in Dawson, Colfax Co, NM where he achieved Eagle Scout in the BSA, excelled at athletics and music, and graduated from Dawson High School in 1949. He joined the Navy earning meritorious citation and was honorably discharged in 1950. Returning to New Mexico, John quarterbacked for and lettered with the Highland University Cowboys. Met and on August 17, 1952, married his sweetheart, Ann Badgett. After earning his Bachelor's Degree in education and student teaching at West Las Vegas, he taught and coached at Santa Rosa and Bloomfield leading numerous basketball and football teams to state finals and achieving two state titles. He was twice elected to coach in the annual North/South match up. He returned to Highlands University to earn his Masters Degree in education and Education Specialist in Administration followed by serving in administration at Tularosa and as Superintendent of Schools for 12 years at Moriarty. John served as Mayor of the city of Moriarty; served on the board of Central NM Electric Co-op and Rural Co-ops of NM; and was appointed Secretary of Commerce and Industry by Governor Bruce King. He owned and operated several business ventures during his lifetime. The Church Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, 2528 Utah Ave., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. A"Celebration of Life" Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the John B. Salvo High School Gym, Moriarty, NM.

Smith -- Christopher Glenn Smith, 31, and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on March 16, 2003 in Albuquerque. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School in 1991. Templeton -- Frank Templeton, 98, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2003. He was born on June 5, 1904 to Frank and Amanda Banks Templeton in Range County, TX. As a young boy, he moved with his parents by covered wagon to New Mexico where his parents and 12 siblings homesteaded in the Taos-Carson area. Frank joined the Marines at 18 and was assigned to the USS Maryland in the Cuba-Panama area. He always participated with the Marine Corps Rifle Team and was honored to win the"Navy E" for his shooting ability. Later he worked with the Calvary and thus started a lifelong love of horses and animals. Frank was active in his church and was nicknamed"the Candy Man" by all of the children. He loved to serve in the temple each week and did so up until his death. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Renae; and grandson, Rodney. Survivors include his daughter, Mary; granddaughters, Kathy Bishop and husband, Myron and Cheri Johnson and husband, Jeff; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church at 12701 Indian School Road NE with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
