Arellano -- Abedon Arellano, a resident of Albuquerque, and a former resident of Cuba, NM., passed away March 7, 2003, a day before his son, Tony's birthday. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Abedon, our loving father, always provided for his family. He was a person who loved the outdoors, and would take his children and grandchildren camping and hunting. On those camping trips, along with his wife, they would take nieces, nephews, children and friends of his children. Abedon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evangeline; two sons, Tony and David; two granddaughters, Christina and Amber; great-grandson, Nathan; mother, Faustina; and brother, Arsenio. He is survived by his two daughters, Dolores and husband, Erminio, and Annabelle; son, Ray and his wife, Wanda; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, other family and friends who loved and will miss him. A Rosary will be recited at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on 4th and Alameda NW in Albuquerque, on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM., on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., with burial following at Cuba Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul, Tony, and Michael Padilla, John and Chris Garcia, and Ray Arellano Jr.. Balderrama -- David Balderrama, 90, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2003. He was born January 8, 1913 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1980. He was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He loved his family and God dearly. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elvira; children, Gustavo, Eleazar and his wife, Rebecca, Nicolas, Jose and wife, Zulema, Raul and wife, Yolanda, Federico, Bertha Vigil and husband, George, Arcelia, Lourdes Gurule and husband, Joe and Rosa Balderrama; 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A Rosary for Mr. Balderrama will be held on Tuesday evening March 11, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. in the Salazar & Sons Mortuary Chapel. Chavez -- Patrick Chavez, 47, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 7, 2003. Pat was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt, camp and boat. He was an esteemed businessman with a zest for life and lived everyday to its fullest--he touched the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Chavez; and children, son, Patrick Chavez, Jr., daughters, Beverly Cruz and husband, Zenon Cruz, andJennifer Chavez and fiance, Timothy Lucero; his mother,Helen Chavez; brothers, Alex Chavez and wife, Annette, Delbert Chavez and wife, Rita, Damen Chavez and wife, Christine; numerous nieces and nephews. Doyle -- Josephine Messina (Sciarrotta) Doyle 73, passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2003 at home after a valiant battle against cancer. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle nature and loved by all whom knew her. An exceptionally devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful cook and her great Italian meals were something we all looked forward to. A long time resident of Albuquerque, she was born December 19, 1929 in Trenton, New Jersey to Carmelo and Carmella Messina. She attended Trenton High School and worked at Cordey China and Lee Overalls in Trenton. She attended Beauty Academy in Trenton and pursued a career in Cosmotology. Josie continued her career for many years in Albuquerque as both a teacher and hairdresser. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Peter James Sciarrotta, Sr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Dave L. Doyle, Sr; and her four sons, Philip P. Sciarrotta and wife, Kathy of Corrales, NM, Carm Sciarrotta of Albuquerque, NM, Peter J. Sciarrotta, Jr. and wife, Nina of Knoxville, TN, and David L. Doyle, Jr. and wife, Erin of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Messina and wife, Anna Mae of Trenton, NJ; her sisters, Marie Moceri and husband, John of West Palm Beach, FL and Frances Severino and husband, Carm of Trenton, NJ; sister-in-law, Chicky Cammiso of Yardley, PA; and her aunts, Helen Sizemore of Trenton, NJ and Alice Musterel of Pamona, NJ. She has nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Francisco Ampuero, his nurse Debbie, and his staff; Sylvia, her hospice nurse and the hospice staff; and the lab technicians at Laderia Medical Center for the special, gentle, loving care they provided to her. Emarine -- Mare (Mary) A. Emarine, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died March 8, 2003 at the family home, after an extraordinarily courageous five year battle against ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Emarine; sons, Jeffrey Emarine and wife, Laura of Carlsbad, NM, Michael Emarine and wife, Tracey of Silver City, NM; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Joshua, and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her mother, Adele Karolin and her grandmother, Pauline Krabu. Mare was born on May 9, 1939 in Tallin, Estonia. Mare, her mother and grandmother survived the German and Russian invasions and occupation of Estonia during WWII only to be deported to Germany. In Germany, they were placed in a concentration camp where Mare's mother was a forced Laborer in a Nazi Defense Factory. In 1945, the U.S. Army liberated the family. In 1949, they emigrated to the U.S. and settled in San Pedro, CA. The family arrived in the U.S. with two suitcases, a knapsack containing bedding and Mare's Teddy Bear. Mare resided in San Pedro until 1965 when she and Larry married. She attended San Pedro High School and Long Beach State University. Prior to being married, she worked at the Los Angeles County City Attorney's Office in San Pedro. Mare was a dedicated military wife from 1965 to 1988 while her husband was in the U.S. Navy. They were stationed in Long Beach, CA, Yokosuka, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Washington DC, and Albuquerque, NM. Mare was an Avon Sales representative for 15 years and loved the job primarily because many of her customers became good friends over the years. Some of her favorite activities were reading, music, plays, gourmet cooking, lunches with friends, and spending time with her sons and their families. Mare loved her many friends from her garden club, water aerobics class, and her neighborhood. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who raised two wonderful and successful sons. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and administrative personnel of the UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center, UNM Hospital, and University Hospice for their outstanding care, compassion and assistance during Mare's struggle with cancer. Services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col. USAF. (Ret). Humbert -- Walter Humbert, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2003, after a courageous battle with A.L.S. Walter was born in Mineral Point, WI on August 7, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mildred Humbert; a sister, Joan; a brother, Duane; and a son, Scott. He is survived by his wife, Alice; three sons, Jeff and his wife, Diane, and Charles, all of Albuquerque and Steve and his wife, Jackie of Pewaukee, WI; three grandsons, Eric and his wife, Addie, Marc and Kyrc, all of Pewaukee, WI; two granddaughters, Penny Mitchell and husband, Rob and Bobbie Rivers, all of Albuquerque; a great-grandson, Justin; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis. Walter loved his family and friends and was always happy to help others. He especially enjoyed remodeling and refurbishing homes. Kempka -- Joseph Walter Kempka, 15, died on March 6, 2003 in Dallas, TX. He was born in Waco, Texas. He is survived by his father, Timothy Kempka and wife, Marilyn of Eustace, TX; his mother, Kay Kempka and husband, Joe Schwendeman; maternal grandfather, Walter Yakich of Oak Crook, WI; maternal step-grandparents, Dr. Joseph R. and Grace Schwendeman of Richmond, KY; brothers, Timothy Kempka and partner, Jessica Sevy of Bedford, TX, Andy Kempka and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque; step-sister, Alycia Pace of Calcium, NY; and step-brothers, Michael Hollar of Irving, TX and Pfc. Lente -- Joe L."Buster" Lente, a native of Isleta Pueblo, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the age of 81, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillian Lente of Albuquerque; Son, Leonard Lente and wife Nancy of Isleta; Daughter, Joanne Lente of Los Lunas, New Mexico; Grandson, Kevin Lente and wife Susie of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Granddaughter, Kim Artman and husband Rick of Moriarity, New Mexico; Four Great-Grandchildren, Alex, Courtney and Brannan Artman of Moriarity, New Mexico and Daisy Lente of Rio Rancho; Brother, Alfred Lente and wife Wanda of Isleta; a Special and dedicated niece, Verna Fender and husband Jim of Albuquerque; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Buster was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Lente of Isleta Pueblo; sisters, Julia Culver, Eleanor Jojola, Carlota Jaramillo, Margaret Tabet, Erma Lujan and brother, John C. Lucero. Buster proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He enlisted on August 1, 1942 in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Co. E, the 180th Infantry and was a Tech 4. He was discharged honorably on July 3, 1946 from Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. Buster received the good conduct medal, victory ribbon, 1 service stripe campaign ribbon with 4 bronze stars, 1 bronze arrowhead, campaign ribbon, Army of Occupation ribbon and 6 overseas service bars. He served in Naples, Sicily and Rome. Buster was faithful and honest to his country. After his discharge he attended and completed accounting courses and Business Administration at Albuquerque Business College. He retired from Kirtland Air Force Base on December 1979. Buster traveled frequently to Italy with his wife. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, hunting, working with his computer and visiting with family and friends. Buster was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and in his earlier years, as a young man was, an alter boy at St. Augustine Church, Isleta Pueblo. He was a past member of the V.F.W. Post 401 and a member of the Italian Club and the Coronado Club, Kirtland Air Force Base. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and the many friends who loved him. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 11, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Padilla -- Mrs. Jennie S. Padilla, 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away Thursday. Mrs. Padilla is survived by her daughter Toni Garcia and husband, Edwardo of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren, Eddie Garcia, Eric Garcia and Jezelle and Denise Telles and husband, Jose; seven great-grandchildren, Cassandra Gurule, Anna Marie Garcia, Bonnie Garcia, Jasmine and Eric Garcia, Eva and Andrew Telles; one sister-in-law, Jennie Serrano and special friends. Mrs. Padilla was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she was past President of the American Legion Post 13 women's auxiliary; she was involved the with the DAV Chapter #3, Post 72 and also the VFW Women's Auxiliaries. Mrs. Padilla volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 15 years. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment of cremation will take place at Fairview Memorial Park. Patrick -- Jerry L. Patrick, 48, went to be with our Lord on Saturday March 8, 2003. He was a graduate of Sandia High School Class of 1973, and went on to Electronics School in Phoenix. He was in sales for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer P. Patrick; and a brother, Howard L. Patrick. Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane of Rio Rancho; his son, Jeremy Patrick of Edgewood, NM; his mother, Betty Patrick of Los Lunas; and his nephews, Sean Shipman of Albuquerque, and Tim Shipman of Fredricksburg, Texas. Jerry was a loving, sweet and sensitive person and will be sorely missed. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 12, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Belen with Pastor Calvin Partain officiating. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ray Rybacki of Albuquerque; daughters, Toni Rodrigues of Santa Rosa, California, Rhonda Howard and husband, Jeff of Sparks, Nevada and Renee Baker and husband, Kevin of Sun Valley, NV; son, Chris Rybacki and wife, Holly of Los Lunas, New Mexico; grandchildren, Marc Miller, Ben Furrow, Camille Rybacki, Madison Baker, Ryan Rybacki, Gabriel Howard, and soon-to-be-born, Gregory Howard; sisters, Jean Packard and Susan Jarzabski.Mrs. Rybacki was preceded in death by two sons-in-law; Jim Miller and Rick Rodrigues; her grandson, Kent Howard; and her sister, Karen Holl. She worked with her husband for ten years at the Red Wing Shoe Store on Menaul Blvd., and more recently, as a bookkeeper with New Mexico Software.Mrs. Rybacki attended Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque.She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and a world-class Memiere.A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2003, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Tafoya -- Mary Tafoya (Weda) passed away on March 6, 2003. She was born on April 3, 1943 in Albuquerque. She is survived by sons, Loyd and wife, Darlene, Ruben, Danny, and Ernest Tafoya; numerous grandchildren; three brothers, Selez and wife, Lena Martinez, Rufino Martinez, Raymond and wife, Mable Martinez; and aunt, Bennia Devine all of Albuquerque. Mary was a very loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be missed dearly. Services will be held on Wednesday, March, 12 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW. Burial will follow at San Carlos Cemetery in Alameda.
