Armenta -- Oliva Maria Armenta, 70, born in Dulce, NM on June 27, 1932, and a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Armenta Jr. of Albuquerque, whom she married at St. Mary¯s Church in Blanco, NM; three children, Harold Armenta and wife, Elizabeth of Westminster, CO, Roger Armenta and Gabriel Armenta, both of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Raynette Armenta-Garcia, Reina Conde, Matthew Armenta, Jessica Schrist, Melissa Armenta, and Jesus Armenta; eight great-grandchildren, Cruz Garcia, Camille Garcia, Jaylyn Rowton, David Schrist, Eve Schrist, Angelica Figueroa, Auriella Perea, and Ryanna Schrist; four sisters, Rosalia Hernandez, Sylvia Gomez, Molly Matlock and Dora Eaton; brother, Rubel Gomez; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Rose Gomez; and brothers, Fidel Gomez and Danny Gomez. Bason -- Lillian P. Bason, 89, much loved mother and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2003. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: son, Frank Bason and wife, Ingrid of Silkeborg, Denmark; daughter, Christine Becker and husband, Robert of Placitas, NM; and son, Roger Bason and wife, Ampi of Highland, NY. Lillian's grandchildren include, Christian Bason and wife, Malene and Peter Bason, all of Copenhagen, Denmark, Justin Becker of Albuquerque, and Charlie and Athena Bason of Highland, NY. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles. She will be missed and loved by all her family forever. Lillian was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, the La Vida Llena community and also an author of several children's books. She was secretary to the Chairman of the Board of the New York Stock Exchange during the 1930's. Beers -- Geraldine"Jerry" Beers, age 72, of Santa Fe, NM, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ida Ovind; brother, Kenneth Ovind; and sister, Doris Arnold. Jerry was born November 29, 1930 in North Dakota to Clarence and Ida Ovind. She married Don Beers on May 19, 1952 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mrs. Beers retired from the State Government in 1989. She was employed by various State agencies including the Tourist Department and Gov. Jack Campbell, Attorney General David Norvell and State Auditors Albert Romero and Haroll Adams. She also was employed by the House of Representatives for over 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Don Beers; daughter, Lori Beers-Ashoo and husband, Luay; step-son, Ronald Beers; grandchildren, Amanda, Kirsten and Ryan Ashoo and Bonnie, Nicole and Shayne Beers. Berkowitz -- Miriam R. Berkowitz, 80, died on February 5, 2003. She was born in Hartford, CT on March 18, 1922 to Catherine and Abraham Feingold. Miriam attended nursing school in Boston, MA and was employed as an RN in NYC and at Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bernard; her dog, Chico; niece, Lieba Bernstein and husband, Victor of Windsor, CT. Butler -- A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM on Saturday, February 15, 2003 for Donald R. Butler who passed away December 22, 2002 in Johnson City, TN. Mr. Butler had lived in Tijeras, NM for over 35 years before moving to Telford, TN in 2001. He was a Navy Veteran, private pilot, volunteer EMT/Firefighter for Edgewood VFD and volunteer for ACRA Emergency Net. Mr. Butler was a truck driver for ABF Freight Lines in Albuquerque where he retired in 1995 and was a member of Telford Baptist Church in Telford, TN. He was a son of the late Russell L. and Elsie Snyder Butler. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara A. Butler; one son, Timothy D. Butler, Telford, TN; two daughters, Susan K. Soto, Rio Rancho, NM and Terry Lee Garcia, Albuquerque; one brother, Robert L. Butler, Chacjoda, OK; one grandson, Nicholas Butler, Telford, TN; four granddaughters, Melissa Soto, Rio Rancho, NM, Nichole Butler, Telford, TN, Alicia Garcia and Victoria Garcia, Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews.

Chong Kee -- Irene"Cookie" Chong Kee of Wailuku, HI, 53, died November 25, 2002 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born August 12, 1949 in Ft. Sumner, NM. Mrs. Chong Kee was employed by Maui Family Support Services as a Social Worker. She taught parenting skills and child development. Her hobbies included exercising, weight training, traveling, and painting. She loved humor and most of all her children. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Dunn -- Mildred"Middy" Dunn, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Bill"BJ" Dunn of Albuquerque; daughter, Julia Dunn of California; son, Glenn Dunn and wife, Barbara of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Bobbie Dunn-Powers and husband, Matthew of Albuquerque; son, John Dunn and wife, Lisa of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Devon, Sara, Lindsey, Kelly and Jordan; brother, Jim Coffee and wife, Sharon of Truth or Consequences; niece, Billie Jean Coffee; and great-nephew, Cody Coffee of Albuquerque. Bill and Middy married on February 4, 1953. She created beautiful quilts and was a member of a team of needlepointers that stitched original altar cushions for Central United Methodist Church. Farina -- Jerry Farina, 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 10, 2003. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jerrod. Jerry served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of Evangel Christian Center. Flick -- Ruth V. Flick of Estes Park, CO, 85, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003. Ruth was born March 6, 1917 in Dundee, IL to Frieda (Wienke) Rakow and Charles Rakow. Mrs. Flick married Charles L. Flick on November 19, 1956 in Great Falls, Montana. He died in 1987. She was a 40-year resident of Albuquerque and moved to Estes Park, CO in 1997. She was a quality control inspector for Digital Equipment in Albuquerque for several years. She was also a member of the Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Tom Peter of Estes Park, CO. Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Charles Flick; parents; first husband, Arthur Peter; and brother, Richard Rakow. Huning -- Mary Etta Huning, 73, a resident of Los Lunas, died Monday, February 10, 2003. She is survived by her husband, John Huning of Los Lunas; son, Tyler Huning near Mountainair; daughters, Eilene Huning of Albuquerque and Nancy Schmierbach and husband, Don of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Dearing Bell Philbrick; and father, Will Bell. Mary Etta was born on July 9, 1929. She attended Albuquerque Public Schools and the University of New Mexico where she graduated with honors. Mary Etta was a class officer and was named outstanding student of UNM. She was president of Mortar Board, a scholastic honor society, and president of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Mary Etta married Jack Huning in 1951 after which she devoted herself to raising her family. In later years, she became a member of PEO and"The Happy Hookers" needlepoint group. Marquez -- Alex Marquez Jr. 79, a resident of Grants, NM, passed away on February 12, 2003. Alex was born in Mgaffey, NM on December 18, 1924 and resided in the Seboyeta and Grants area most of his life. He is a WWII veteran having fought in the European Theater and made his living as a uranium miner. Horses were his passion. He was legendary for his horses and covered wagon in which he made his yearly pilgrimage to the Santuario in Zuni. He participated in the State Fair parade, Grants 4th of July parade, and escorted the Queen of the Indian Ceremonial in Gallup. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alizandro and Barbarita Marquez; three brothers, Rosendo; Joe; and Tomas; and one sister, Adelaida Marquez. Alex is survived by his two children, Rudy of Albuquerque, NM; and Adella Garley and her husband, Donald of Belen, NM; his brother, Pablo and his wife, Flora; one sister, Eufelia Archunde and her husband, Cesario; sister-in-law, Margaret Marquez; three grandchildren, Nadine Gallegos; Ann Marie Marquez; and Tony M. Lucero; and one great- grandson, Rick Gallegos. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Martin -- Arthur R. Martin, age 88 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died on February 10, 2003. Mr. Martin was a bricklayer in Albuquerque since the mid-1950's. After retirement Mr. Martin was anxious to return to work so he began his second career at Rocky Mountain Stone Company from 1979-1995 where he made very dear friends and acquaintances and enjoyed taking care of the roses. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances Martin; children, Patty Collins and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque and Gary R. Martin and wife, Wendy of El Segundo, CA; grandchildren, Damien Martin and Debbie Kiefner and husband, Steven; and great-granddaughter, Haleigh Kiefner. Montano -- Mr. Desiderio (Boggie) Montano died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 75. Mr. Montano was a World War II Veteran. He worked in landscaping and loved to go to the casinos. Mr. Montano is preceded in death by his father, Miguel Montano and mother, Candelaria Montano. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Montano; children, Anthony Valdez and wife, Tina, Jerry Gutierrez, Mela Gonzales and husband, Raymond Armijo, and Isabel Varela and husband, Francisco; sisters, Cleo Craig and Eulia Chavez and husband, Joe; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Moore -- Dorothy Burdette Moore, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past three years, coming to New Mexico from Tempe, Arizona, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2003. Dorothy was born October 15, 1923 the daughter of Leo Wallace and Edith B. Ridgley Ward in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She had worked in the banking business, worked for over 30 years at the Valley National Bank in Arizona before retiring. Dorothy liked to sew and do needlepoint. She loved being with her grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Terrye in 1998. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, James (Jack) Moore of Rio Rancho; three sons, Jim and wife, LaNona of Corrales, Bill and wife, Sharol of Albuquerque, and Deke and wife, Linda of Corrales; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Quintana -- Romie Quintana, our dear mother, a lifelong resident of Pena Blanca, NM, went home to heaven to meet Jesus and reunite with her husband, Carlos Quintana, on Wednesday, February 12, 2003. Romie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include her children, Virginia and Steven Ortiz, Charles and Veronica Quintana, Kenny and DeeAnn Quintana of Pena Blanca, and Yvonne and Milton Vernon of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Judy and Greg Aragon, Miguel and Brandie Leyba, Mariela Leyba, Crystal Quintana, Juan Carlos Quintana, and Carlos Quintana; great-grandsons, Michael and Julian Leyba; sister, Lala Martinez of Porterville, CA; her loving caretaker, Francisca Delgado; and many nieces and nephews. She never gave up on life and worked hard at it. Her battle with Parkinson's disease lasted for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart League, St. Bonaventure Prayer Group, and the church choir for many years. The family thanks those who participated in her life. She was loved by many and will be missed by all of us. Visitation will be Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pena Blanca. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday, February 15, with the Rev. Wayne Gibbeaut officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. Richards -- Morris E. Richards, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, February 13, 2003. He is survived by his wife, June Richards of the family home; brother, Ivan L. Richards of Memphis, TN; nephew, Brian R. Richards, niece, Renee Cave. Mr. Richards was a retired Master Sgt. for the USAF. He was a veteran WWII. After his retirement he worked for the Department of Energy. Rue -- Andy Rue, born on August 15, 1937, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the age of 65, in Santa Fe, NM. Andy is survived by his wife, Marion Martindale of Albuquerque; mother, Mabel Lopez of Roswell; son, Anthony Rue of Vista, CA.; daughters, Elizabeth Rue of Albuquerque, Theresa Lopez and Husband Frankie of San Angelo, Texas, Connie Rue-Borunda and husband, Sammie of Albuquerque, Tammi Harz and husband, Kirk of Ruidoso, Charmaine Alvarado and husband, Michael of Albuquerque, and Shandal Rue of Albuquerque; seven brothers; one sister; seven grandsons, and four granddaughters. Sutherland -- Larry Lee Sutherland, 47, a former resident of Estancia, New Mexico, peacefully passed away at his home in Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, February 8, 2003. Larry served his country with the U.S. Army for seven years, and was a disabled Veteran. Larry was an avid outdoorsman but due to his illness he was limited in pursuing his love for hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Alta Sutherland; James and Doris Farmer. Larry is survived by his children, Ashley; Kathy; and Keigan Sutherland; his parents, Allen and Florence Sutherland of Los Lunas, NM; his brothers, Allen Sutherland and his wife, D'rese of Aztec, NM; and Weldon Sutherland and his wife, Delores of Los Lunas; his sister, Deborah Sutherland of Los Lunas; his nephew, Bobby and his wife, Heather; his nieces, Amanda; Renee; Krystal; and Kasey Sutherland. Larry is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and his special friends from Estancia, Bloomfield and Albuquerque, NM. Szpunar -- Barry Szpunar, age 51, a resident of Albuquerque for over 30 years, died Wednesday February 12, 2003. Wolff -- Juliette Duran Wolff, 67, a lifelong resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away on February 12, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Madrid and husband, Cosmes and their children, Gabriel and Victor Madrid all of Rio Rancho; son, David Wolff and his children, Jacob, Juliette and Kristen Wolff and companion, Angie Romero all of Albuquerque; son, Gerald Wolff and wife, Cathy, and his son, Gerald Wolff all of Albuquerque; brother, Peter G. Duran, Jr. of Albuquerque. She is also survived by many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Juliette was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Julia Duran; a sister, Renetta Casias; twin brother, Julian"Buzzy" Duran and baby granddaughter, Lauren Kimberly Wolff. She was a graduate of Loretto Academy in Santa Fe. Juliette retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1997 after 20 years of service.
