Walker -- Dorothy Temple Corbin Summers Walker was born in Essex County, Virginia on November 27,1920 and God called her home to be with Him on January 19, 2003. Dorothy asked Jesus Christ to come into her life and be Lord of her life at a young age at Pinn Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She remained faithful in her membership for over 70 years. At the age of 81, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to live with her daughter, Elder (Rev.) Mary Frances and her son-in -law, Elder (Rev.) Rodney C. Jaynes. She joined New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church and became an active member of the Wisdom Chorus and the Usher Board. Dorothy was a joy to her parents and relatives and everyone whose life she ever touched. She was so full of life and she lived it to the fullest; always reaching out to others and giving of herself to serve others by visiting the sick and shut in, helping at Trinity Christian Academy in their reading program. Everyone who met Dorothy wanted to adopt her as their mother. That's the kind of heart she had; caring, loving, and giving in such a happy and joyful way. Dorothy leaves to miss her beyond measure, her daughter, Mary and son-in-law, Rodney; eight grandchildren: Sherri Summers Smith, Robin Jaynes Packer, Craig Summers, Rodney C. Jaynes II, Kevin Summers, Marcia Jaynes, Mark Corbin Jaynes, and Kadeejia Summers; fourteen great-grandchildren: Tara, Tonya, Matthew, Marcus, Paris, Amber, Kaliyah, Jonah, Marlon, Mariah, Michael, Kirby, Craig Jr., and Sheri. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; two sisters-in-law who were like sisters, Caroline Summers Floyd and Alice Wooden Corbin. There are so many friends, old and new, that we cannot count or name, who will miss her dearly. A homegoing celebration will be held at New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1901 Pennsylvania NE., on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW.
