Alarid -- Carmen (Granny) Alarid, 94, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 12, 2002. She is survived by her son, Pete Alarid of Santa Fe; granddaughters, Nancy Jo Alarid and Pamela J. Alarid, both of Santa Fe, Judy Rizek and husband, Tim of Albuquerque, Eleanor Olsen and husband Chris of Sidney, NE and Roberta Oritz of Albuquerque; grandsons, Richard S. Alarid of Santa Fe, John J. Ortiz of Dayton, OH and Jerry T. Ortiz and wife, Patty of Albuquerque; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Tom Jones reciting. Avritt -- Tamara"Tammy" Kay Wright Avritt, 54, a resident of Shingle Springs, CA, passed away in Cameron Park, CA on December 9, 2002. Tammy was born in East Chicago, Indiana the daughter of June and Larry Wright. Tammy had great love for children. She was a caregiver at the Blue Oak Elementary School Extended Day Program, for the before and after school care program. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She collected Christmas ornaments, dolls, and American Indian pottery. She made and collected Teddy bears. Tammy will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Wright. Tammy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill Avritt; mother, June Boyd of Rio Rancho; brother, Roger Wright of Corrales; sisters, Barbara Lueras of Albuquerque, Kathy Lovell of White Rock, NM and Lotus Williams of Austin, TX. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Black -- Willea Black, born September 1, 1913 in Canadian, Texas and moved with her parents, William and Mary Nuckles to Hot Springs, New Mexico, now Truth or Consequences, New Mexico when she was a youngster. She finished high school there and attended the University of New Mexico and returned to T or C where she began working in the Postal Service. When her husband Frank returned from the military service, they moved to Albuquerque in 1953 when she then transferred to the Postal Service. She retired as Secretary to the Postmaster after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and their daughter, Jo Ann Thompson; and sister, Velma Estes, who lived in Oregon. She is survived by her granddaughter, Margaret and her husband, William Henderson and their two daughters, Katelynn and Samantha; another granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson; and her son-in-law George Thompson and his wife, Judy. Services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. Santa Fe National Cemetery. Boutz -- Col. William Ray Boutz died Monday, December 9, 2002 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geraldine Boutz; sons, Gary and wife, Geri of Reno, NV, Allen and wife, Betty of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Gary Jr. and Graham and wife, DiAnne, Kimmer Franz, Brian and Lauren; sister, Corabelle McKinnon of Tyler, TX; and sister-in-law, Emma Lee Boutz of Albuquerque; and many loving nieces and nephews. Ray Boutz was born in a small sod farmhouse near Harris, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 2, 1910 to John William and Pinckney Ford Boutz. He returned to the US in 1919 with the family and later attended Deming High School. While attending New Mexico A&M, from which he graduated in 1932 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he joined the New Mexico National Guard in a horse cavalry unit. Deciding that flying was his true calling, he trained at Randolph Field in Texas in the Army Air Corps and earned his Pilot's wings in 1934. It was in Texas that he met his future bride. Married to Geraldine that same year, they began a long military career together that spanned the next 25 years. First stationed at Luke Field in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the quiet pre-war years, they then returned to Texas where, as an instructor pilot, he trained many future generals in proper flight techniques. During World War II he flew combat missions in B-24's from Italy over Europe. After the war he served in numerous posts in Ohio, New York, Greenland, Alabama, and Japan, finally retiring in Albuquerque in 1959. After his Air Force career he worked for the New Mexico State Welfare Department as a Social Case Worker. Retiring a second time in 1973 he enjoyed family, friends and fishing in New Mexico during the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by his son, John Frederick; brothers, Monroe and Paul Lawrence; and sister, Juanita. Ray was a wonderful father and uncle, loving husband and faithful friend, and will be deeply missed. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2002 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Cattanach -- Howard W. Cattanach, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 64 years, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Victor Cattanach of Grishman, OR and Dana R. Cattanach of Albuquerque; stepsons, Russell Elliott of Albuquerque and Randell Elliott of Lakewood, CA; and grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Jim, Rob, Preston, Brandon, and Dana. Mr. Cattanach was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie E. Cattanach; and son, Bill Cattanach. He served in WWII with the rank of Master Sergeant and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Cattanach was a member of the Church of Christ and a faithful servant of the Lord and others. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Bosque Farms, 1635 Bosque Farms Blvd with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Chavez -- Celia Arellano Chavez, age 98, was born August 28, 1904, in Chacon, New Mexico, passed away December 13, 2002, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Celia was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Chavez; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors include daughters, Connie Dinnsen and husband, Fred, of Prescott, AZ, Ernestine Gutierrez of Albuquerque; sons, Robert Chavez and wife, Elizabeth, of Las Cruces, NM, Joe Chavez, of Tucson, AZ, Louie Chavez and wife, Ruth Ann of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren, Bobby and Danette Chavez, Nita Gallegos, Richard, Thomas, Carmela, David, Lara, Joe and Timothy Chavez, Monica Brown, Jessica Duckett, Lisa England, Kim and Debbie Gutierrez, and Dana Lynn Ingram; numerous nephews and nieces. Celia was a very special person, and a wonderful mother. Her family was always her priority. Celia always had a kind word for everyone, never judged anyone and will be remembered as a wonderful cook whose door was always open to family and friends. Celia will be greatly missed by all including a very special sister-in-law, Carmon Martinez; her caring son-in-law, Servando Gutierrez; and very special friend, Louie Telles. Celia will be especially missed by her granddaughter, Deborah Gutierrez who loved her grandmother very much. Fieder -- Doris Fieder, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 19 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2002. Doris was born December 14, 1923 the daughter of Gabriel Gerard and Sarah Smith Currie Laureyns in Newark, New Jersey. She came to New Mexico from Rutherford, New Jersey. Doris was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She hosted a Bible study in her home; volunteered with the Rio Rancho Public library; was a Docent at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History; she was also a member of the"Rockhounds". Doris is remembered as a cheerful, quick-witted lady and a devoted wife. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Edward, of the family home; one brother, Jerry Laureyns and wife, Sara of Larkspur, CA; one brother-in-law, Frederick William Fieder of Montgomery, AL; several nieces and nephews including Fred Fieder and wife, Susan, Shawn Laureyns, and Ryan Laureyns, Ed Fieder and his wife, Jan and Pris Dailey and her husband, Bob; also great-nieces and great-nephews, including Freddie, Laura, Eddie, Robby, Cole, Meg, Amanda, and Edward Allen. Visitation for Doris will be held today, Friday, December 13, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 2701 The American Road, SE, Rio Rancho, with Rev. Jeannine E. Lamb officiating. Flores -- Merejildo Flores (Rocky), born on March 5, 1951 died on December 9, 2002 in Colorado Springs, CO. He is survived by his son, Eddie Jinzo of Albuquerque; two sisters, Lucy and Theresa Lopez of Albuquerque; and two brothers, Tommy and Frankie Flores of Gallup, NM. Merejildo Flores was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, he grew up in Gallup, NM he also resided in Albuquerque and Colorado Springs, CO where he will be missed by many friends and family members. He will be cremated by the Cappadona's Funeral Home in Colorado Springs and his ashes will be brought to the Santa Fe National Cemetery where a Graveside Service will be held on December 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.

Moser -- Thomas Francis Moser our beloved grandpa, father, husband, son, brother, and friend passed away on December 11, 2002, with many loved ones by his side. Moe was a hard worker throughout his life. He was a special angel sent to touch many lives. Moe was a retired volunteer firefighter, whom never gave up the calling. Born in Ossining, New York, he became a Corrales Resident in the late 60's. He is survived by his nine grandchildren, Alixx, Adrianna, Tyler, Kishandra, Katie, Kwentin, Martina, Khalen, and Courtney; his four children, Cheryl Ann and Don Howard, Thomas J. Moser, Florence and Reuben Gallegos, Michael E. and Michelle Moser; his wife, Jean; mother, Ann; sister, Ann (Tootie); brothers, Billy and Eddy; nine nieces and nephews; and friends who number in the thousands. He proudly served in the Army in 1960, worked for Singer, Green Acres, Sun Valley Bark, and Yellow Freight where he Retired in 1999. Our Heavenly Father called to dad after a battle with leukemia which he fought until the very end. He filled our heart with love and happiness. Moe was and still is loved very much by so many of us. We will always have him by our side. He will be standing with the finest in Heaven today! All the angels are singing to have him with them! A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2002, in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd., in Rio Rancho at 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 16, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vista Care Hospice or the United Blood Services. Mossman -- Doreen G. Mossman, 89, passed away in Albuquerque on December 2, 2002. Born in England, Doreen came to New Mexico in 1947 to marry her late husband, George Mossman. A survivor of the German blitz, she met and fell in love with George while he was with the U. S. Army Air Corps in Britain during WWII. Doreen quickly adopted Albuquerque as her hometown, and she and George were active in the local business community and social scene. Many will remember Doreen's strong British ways, including a penchant for letting others know when they were not behaving"properly." An impeccable dresser, she worked for years at Kistler-Collister where stylish Albuquerque ladies sought her advice on fashion and grooming. Doreen is survived by cousin, Walter Hines and wife, Bettie of Albuquerque; nephew, Dr. Philip Isaac and wife, Jane of Oklahoma City; niece, Patricia Fowler and husband, Colin of Mallorca; and many local friends, including Peggy Piper and Jo Paige. A private memorial is pending. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Hospice.

Munsey -- Elizabeth S. Munsey, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002. She is survived by her sons, James C. Munsey and wife, Pamela of Seattle, WA and Thomas E. Munsey and wife, Christine of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica, Connor and Hunter; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Munsey was preceded in death by her husband, Cone Munsey; three sisters, Ann Smith, Virginia Peterman and Martha McDowell; and one brother, William Spellman. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Munsey received her bachelorťs degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Kansas, Wyoming and New Mexico. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 215 Locust NE, with Rev. Myron White officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 215 Locust NE, 87102. Olivares -- Ismael A."Smiley" born in San Antonio, TX and later a 60-year resident of Albuquerque, died December 11, 2002. He is survived by his four children, Annie Chavez, Reyna Olivares, Fred Olivares, and Agedo Olivares; his six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eliza Sauceda; and sister-in-law, Mary Baca. His memory and spirit are also carried on through his many friends and other family members. Mr. Olivares was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of Post #13. He owned and operated a local business, San Pedro Shoe Repair for 27 years. Viewing and visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2002 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2002 at St. Francis Xavier Church 820 Broadway Blvd SE with Fr. Nick Nirschel, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Valdez -- Francis P. Valdez, 90, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on December 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ida E. Valdez of Cuba, NM; daughter, Betty Foster and husband, George of Las Vegas, NM; son, Robert F. Valdez and wife, Lucille of Cuba, NM; grandsons, Robert Valdez and Al Foster and wife, Erica all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Carol Montoya and husband, Jody of Cuba, NM, Sandra Foster of Las Vegas, NM and Isabel Valdez of Farmington, NM. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Francis was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was involved with the F.H.A.; he also served on the school board in Cuba, NM. Service will take place on Monday, December 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks N. of Paseo del Norte) with Reverend Jaime Quinones and Reverend Wilfred Sawyier, officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
