Aragon -- Mrs. Encarnacion (Carrie) Aragon, 71, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 30, 2002.¯Mrs. Aragon is survived by husband, Luciano; three daughters, Jenny Haro, Bertha Reyes and husband Ralph and Mary Lou Baldonado; six sons, Gilbert Aragon and wife Irma, Richard Aragon and wife Judy, Stanley Aragon, George Aragon and girlfriend Gloria Griego, Frank Aragon and Rodney Aragon; one sister, Irene Jojola; 28 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Aragon was preceded in death by her son, Leroy Aragon and her mother Clotilde Silva.¯Mrs. Aragon was a member of the Catholic Church. Billups -- Reverend James F. Billups passed away November 28, 2002. He was born May 11, 1933 in Alabama. James was a Pastor and retired from the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband and father. James is survived by his wife, Floree; and five sons, Harold, Derrick, Jerome, Aundra, and Sebastian. The viewing and Funeral Services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW., just east of 4th ST. The viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2002, followed by the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jones and Rev. Washington will officiate the services. Brooks -- A Graveside Service will be held to honor the life of Marjorie Ellen Brooks who died on November 30, 2002, at the age of 87. She was the daughter of Joseph Thomas Overlin and Macie Francis Green Overlin Jenkins. Reared in Trinidad, Colorado, she and her husband, Clyde, who died in 1999, were longtime Albuquerque area residents. Marge's calling in life was that of a homemaker. Her love of children, domestic skills, patience, optimism, humor, gentility, and quiet strength served her well in this role. She is survived by her sons, Richard, Don, Dave, and Jim, who grew up basking in the sunshine of her love. Other survivors include daughters-in-law, Marilyn, Joan, Linda, and Karen; grandchildren, Tammy Brisco, Sean Brooks, Mark Brooks, Michael Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Matthew Brooks, and Brian Brooks; great-grandchildren, Ashley Loveless and Jaushua Brisco; and Marge's devoted niece and nephew Carol and David Jenkins. Burns -- Preston Edward Burns, 18, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, November 28, 2002.¯ Born in Albuquerque on October 18, 1984, he attended schools in Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and San Jose, CA. He recently received his GED, and he was currently enrolled at TVI where he intended to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts.¯His dream was to own a restaurant. Preston was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 13.¯Diabetes is a cruel master that took Preston not piece by piece but whole, as he stood on the threshold of adult promise.¯In 8th grade, he volunteered for Youth Development, Inc. His potential was recognized by YDI when his portrait was selected for their 1998 calendar; his picture (with bleached hair) appeared for the month of May. Preston is remembered for his sense of humor and diverse interests. He regularly experimented with his¯look particularly his hair. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends.¯ He liked cats, reptiles, alternative music, and reading.¯ He had a very sensitive nature. His younger cousins adored him.¯He had a great time on the family's recent cruise to Alaska. He assisted the cruise chefs in a cooking demonstration and documented his adventures on a digital camera.¯His family treasures this time spent together.¯Preston is survived by his loving and caring mother, Susan (Suzi) Burns; and his¯Auntie B,¯ Barbara Grothus, both of Albuquerque; uncles and aunts, Tom Grothus and Wendy Slotboom of Seattle, WA and Mike and Heidi Grothus and their children, Casey and Michelle (MEG) of Niwot, CO; Poppa and Grandma,¯Ed and Margaret Grothus of Los Alamos, NM; grandmother, Ruth Davis and family of Wilmington, NC; and many members of his extended family.¯ He was preceded in death by uncle, Ted Grothus. Duffee -- William M. (Bill) Duffee passed away November 25, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva; and infant son, Earl. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Pearl; beloved father of three children, William (Cheri) Duffee, Catherine (Bob) Millar, and Barry (Linda) Duffee; three step-children, Barry (Janet) Silbaugh, Steve (Becky) Silbaugh, and Barbara Pinzak; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Betty) Duffee. Bill was born October 16, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio and served courageously in the South Pacific during WWII on the USS Nicholas DD449. He moved his family to Albuquerque in 1957, and in 1958 founded ALTEC, where he was acting president until his retirement in 1989. He and his wife, Pearl have lived in Sun City, AZ for the past 11 years where he was active in many private organizations. They were blessed with many years of happiness, which included numerous trips to Germany and other countries. They came to know and love many people there. He was a wonderful husband and father, and a generous, fun loving man that will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial Services will be held in Albuquerque on December 5, 2002 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice.

Fleming -- Violet M. Fleming, a resident of Albuquerque for 44 years, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Her husband, John S. Fleming, preceded Violet in death. She was born March 12, 1914 in Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Kosel and husband, Edward, of Albuquerque; sons, John"Jack" and wife, Josephine of Santa Fe, Richard and wife, Patty of Albuquerque; sister, Lois Hawk of Blakeslee, PA. Mrs. Fleming was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and the Sonata Club. In addition to being an excellent cook, Mrs. Fleming was known for taking special care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Fleming's family appreciates all the care that Manor Care Sandia Hospice provided for her. Gallegos -- IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL WAYNE GALLEGOS Michael Wayne Gallegos, 50, died Wednesday in Portland, Oregon. Born on January 4, 1952, in Pueblo, Colorado, he had been a resident of Vancouver since 1986. Mr. Gallegos was a jeweler, goldsmith and 1979 graduate of The Paris School of Jewelry. He was the proprietor of Michael's Fine Jewelry in Vancouver. He studied Martial Arts and held a black belt in Kenpo, for which he was titled Yadansha. He was also schooled in Judo, Kajukkenbo, Wingchun Gungfu and was working on certification in Kosho. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his wife Maureen, at home in Vancouver and two children; Amanda Knox of Austin, Texas and Devan Gallegos of Seattle, Washington. He has two sisters in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Janie Wolf and Cristine King, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Arkansas. He will be loved and missed by all. A Mass in his remembrance will be said Sunday, 11:00 a.m. on December 8, 2002 at the St. Mary's Church in Ojo Caliente, N.M.¯ Followed by a memorial service at his Aunt Lupe Sena's home.

Garcia -- Jose Carlos Gaspar Garcia III, 51, went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2002. He was born on April 3, 1951 in Tome, NM, he was the second child of Gaspar Garcia Jr. and Luciana Romero Garcia. He was preceded in death by his father Gaspar Garcia Jr. Mr. Garcia is survived by his mother Luciana Garcia; son Richard Torres Garcia; daughter Bernadette Garcia De Rodriguez and husband Martin; brothers Vincent Garcia and wife Patsy, Rosario Garcia and Joshua Garcia; sisters Sadie Garcia-Marrufo, Lucia Garcia Cook and husband John, Martina Garcia Kirk and husband Ted, Crista Garcia and husband Louis, Israela Garcia, Joanetta Garcia Hanlon and husband Glen and Felissa Garcia Kelley and husband Patrick; grandchildren Luna Victoria, Miguel Angel and Marina Soledad Rodriguez-Garcia and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and countless friends. He was well known for his mastery in carpentry, wood carving, adobe designing and building as well as his amazing ideas, thoughts and perseverance in life's struggles. He delighted in writing down and reciting dichos, two of which were:"cada mente es un mundo" and"cada chango a su colupmio" which he believed. His impetuous and witty nature remained with him throughout his life and affected others in a positive and motivating way. Above all of this Gaspar's love of God and enduring hpe in family unity and his love for his family was most evident. We love you Gaspar in the name of Jesus. Mr. Garcia will be deeply missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Lucero -- Pat Lucero, Jr., age 95, born in New Mexico died November 30, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Lucero of Albuquerque; a daughter, Arlene Pao-aroon of Albuquerque; and sons, Edward Lucero and wife, Karen of Gallup, Gerald Lucero and wife, Linda of Kingman, Arizona, Tony Lucero and wife, Marie, Vincent Lucero and wife, Marie all of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren also survive Pat. His son, Frederick Lucero, preceded him in death. Pat was a Barber for 50 years and owned the Court Barber Shop at Lomas and Old Town. Lynn -- Ellen Lynn, resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at the age of 85. Her husband, Lloyd Lynn, preceded Ellen in death. She was born March 26, 1917, in Ohio. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Pierce and husband, Alan, of Albuquerque; son, Dennis of Peralta, sister, Althea Lynn of Springfield, OH, and brothers, Jack Styer of Deland, FL, and Kenneth Styer of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Lynn was a member of the Fellowship Christian Reform Church for more than 15 years. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2002, from 5-8pm at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, with a graveside service on Friday, December 6, 2002, at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Park. Machin -- Edwin Dale Machin, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 2, 2002. He died of complications due to his lung disease at the hospital. Ed was born on May 30, 1928 in Columbus, OH. He met his beloved wife, Rose Marie Machin of 53 years while he was in the service, stationed in St. Louis, MO. After going to school in Chicago, IL, the couple moved to Albuquerque. Ed was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 36 years. He worked as a member of the technical staff, a job he loved to do. During his retirement, Ed was actively involved in the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. He served as president for one year in the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation and two years with the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. Ed had a passion to preserve and protect our New Mexico Wildlife. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to the yearly trips to hunt with his son, grandson, son-in-law, and friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Patricia Perovich and husband, Joey Perovich; grandson, Damon Deveaux; granddaughters, Alicia Deveaux and Elena Perovich of Taos. His son, Glenn Machin and wife, Terri Machin; grandson, Jude Machin and wife, Amber of Lubbock, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Machin; grandson, Christopher Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Nancy Caldwell and husband, Kevin Caldwell; granddaughter, Kylee Caldwell and grandson, Casey Caldwell of Albuquerque. Ed was a loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed, but the lessons he taught his family will endure forever. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on December 7, 2002 at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. Martinez -- Toribio (Grandpa Rodie) Martinez, 73, a lifelong resident of Cuba, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Toribio was born January 23, 1929 in Cuba, New Mexico. He was a kind, gentle man. He had been a cattle rancher all his life, retiring after 65 years. Toribio enjoyed hunting, was an excellent marksman, loved the outdoors. He was a"true cowboy". Toribio was a Senior Companion for seven years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Martinez in 1984. Toribio is survived by his loving wife, Ramelia of the family home; four children, Patricia Martinez of Albuquerque, Emily Montoya and husband Leroy of Cuba, NM, Anthony Martinez of Cuba, NM, and Amy Martinez of Albuquerque; two sisters, Josephita Herrera and Liva Lucero; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002 from 5 PM to 7 PM with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM with Fr. John Boland as the celebrant. Noble -- Ferne D. Noble entered peacefully into rest at Washington Hospital in Fremont on November 6, 2002. A devoted homemaker and mother, she was born in Binghamton, NY, on September 18, 1913. She was a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years prior to moving to Hayward in 1999 to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont and the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque and the Daughters of the Nile. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn B. Noble, in 1997, she is survived by her son, David, J. Byron of Hayward; daughter, Sally Gervin of Tennessee; stepdaughter, Donna Lee of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed. There will be a Memorial Service for Mrs. Noble on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver Ave. SW, Albuquerque. O'brien -- Amy O¯Brien, 35, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. O'rourke -- Terrence Robert O'Rourke, 52, passed away at the VA Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2002, surrounded by his loving family members. Terry was born in Albuquerque, and he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a plumber/pipe fitter, and was a member of Union Local #412. Robison -- Edwin H. Robison, O.D., Major, USAR, Ret., 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. He is survived by his son, Edwin H. Robison, III, O.D. and wife, Suzanne; daughter, Mollianne Robison, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Stephanie D. Robison, Katherine G. Sanchez and Cassandra E. Sanchez; brothers Dr. Rodger F. Robison and wife, Tiiu, of Bloomington, IN and Page Eppele of IA; sisters, Margaret Younger of San Marcos, TX and Bunny Eliz Swanson, of Gainsville, FL; and nephew Rex Randell Robison and wife, Helen, of Berkeley, CA. Edwin was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary K. Robison on Monday, November 18, 2002."Doc" Robison was born in Chicago, January 1, 1920. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1938. He practiced optometry in Frankfort from 1948 to 1957. He grew up in both the Midwest and Florida. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Edwin was a longtime resident of NM who practiced optometry for 54 years and was a member of the American Optometric Association and New Mexico Optometric Association. He enjoyed archeology in the southwest and toured much of the West and Mexico on a Harley Davidson with his wife. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 6, 2002, 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Seashore -- Paul Seashore, 65, a resident of Albuquerque for 10 years, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002.¯ He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Ellen Murach of Manassas, VA, Kathryn Schmitt of Oak Hill, VA and Carl Seashore of Wilmington, NC.¯ Paul was preceded in death by his father, Junius Otto Seashore (1903-1966); mother, Ruth (Vemelle) Iain Seashore (1905-1967); brother, Theodore Iain Seashore (1934-1976); and twin sister, Carolyn Ruth Seashore.¯ Paul graduated from the University of Houston Central Campus with a Bachelor of Science Degree on June 2, 1962. Shover -- Captain Frank E. Shover, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice M. Shover of Albuquerque; son, Frank Edward Shover, Jr. and wife, Mirese of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter, Carolin Jane Pyzik and husband, Roger of Onsted, MI; son, William Reynolds Shover and wife, Betty of Denver, CO; daughter, Claudia Rae Daily and husband, Gary of Topeka, KS; son, Kerry Bradley Shover of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Shover served in the U.S. Army during both WWII and the Korean Conflict and was highly decorated. He was a member of the Ballut Abyad Shrine and Masonic Lodge #72. Mr. Shover was an active member of Sandia Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and music. Mr. Shover was also interested in photography. Sloman -- Alison Sloman, 40, of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 19, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Louise and her mother, Bente Busch Spann, both of Albuquerque; her father, Edwin Sloman; twin sister, Bettina Lynn and brother, Eric Sloman, all of Washington, D.C. area. Alison was a Real Estate agent with Coldwell Banker Legacy. She was also an avid equestrian; Alison rode eventing horses in France where she resided for 10 years before moving to Albuquerque A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at St. Peters the Apostle in Queenstown, Maryland. Valverde -- Abel T. Valverde, Jr., 36, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away November 30, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Valverde; parents, Abel, Sr. and Connie Valverde of Moriarty; brother, R. Abel was a member of Local Electrical Union 611, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and a very loving son, father and brother. Wolff -- Maurice Wolff was born in Brooklyn, NY, November 7, 1921, graduated from Brooklyn Tech, served in World War II in the U.S. Army in England, France, Belgium and Germany and worked as an architect in New York City in part of the design of the World Trade Center and other major city buildings. A member of the American Institute of Architects, he studied painting at the Art Students League in NYC and sculpture after moving to Albuquerque, NM, in 1993. He was active in the Duke City Bridge Club for the past nine years. He died on Monday, December 2, in the Hospice unit of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Bretta Weiss Wolff; daughters, Anita Orenzow and Joanne Wolff; grandsons, Jeffrey and Michael Orenzow, stepdaughters, Lee Weiss Maniolas, Sara Weiss, Emily Smith; and stepgranddaughter, Nikki Maniolas. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, at the First Unitarian Church, Carlisle and Comanche Avenues, in Albuquerque at 4:45 p.m.

Wright -- Essie Pearl Wright, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002.¯ She is survived by her husband, Dr. William F. Wright, Sr. of Albuquerque; her son, Dr. William F. Wright, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Hobbs, NM; her daughter, Teresa Clack and husband, Robert of Florissant, MO; and two grandchildren, John and Jenna Clack.¯ She was born on March 5, 1920 to Matthew and Martha Frost and was raised in St. Bernice, Indiana.¯Essie was the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1938 and Terre Haute Business College in 1939.¯In the fall, Essie went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, where she met Bill, her husband-to-be.¯ She earned two bachelor degrees, a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Business, while serving initially as the college presidents secretary and later as Business Manager¯ and Treasurer for the college.¯ She also taught classes at Olivet.¯ Essie earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught business classes at Monon High School in Indiana from 1949 to 1952. In August of 1952, Essie and Bill moved to Albuquerque to start careers with the Albuquerque Public School system.¯ Essie taught at Albuquerque High's Evening School and in the Business Department of the University of New Mexico.¯By 1960, Essie was committed to her role as a full-time mother and wife. After Bill Jr. and Teresa left for college, Essie devoted herself to the full-time service of others.¯She especially loved to care for the elderly who were confined to their homes. In 1972, Essie began volunteering at the Senior Meal Site at Harwood United Methodist Church.¯The site later moved to the Church of Christ located on North Fourth Street. This program was taken over by the North Valley Senior Citizens Center in 1980, where Essie continued to volunteer. In the fall of 2000, she was honored for a total of 28 years of service to the North Valley Community. For over 50 years, Essie has been a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene.¯She was also active in the WCTU.¯Essie was an avid reader and writer.¯The Bible and devotionals daily guided her life.¯Having always put God first in her life, Essie's family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served. Services will be held Saturday, December 7th, 11:00 a.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. William B. Zubia -- Edna Zubia, 64, passed away in Dallas, Texas, November 27, 2002. She lived in Albuquerque and worked at Zubia Construction Company. Edna will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her.
