Almes -- Guy Cecil Almes, 77, died peacefully of cancer, on Monday, November 18, 2002. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Huber, and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys Stewart Almes, his brothers, Carrol T. Almes and John R. Almes; his daughter, Cecilia Louise Almes; his two sons Guy T. Almes and Clifford J. Almes (a.k.a. Brother Timothy); and by his four grandsons Joshua Huber, Caleb Huber, Jordan Almes, and Hardy Almes. A native of Baltimore, he flew 35 missions over Europe during WWII, and was privileged to serve with many outstanding people for an Air Force career totaling 31 years and rising eventually to the rank of Colonel. Retiring in 1974, he and Gladys moved to Albuquerque, partly to be near her family, many of whom live in Grants. Blessed by family, he was also blessed as a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities of lay leadership. He mentored many young people in their faith life, and was referred to as"Gum Guy" by the young children of Holy Cross. His retirement was also enriched by several years of graduate work in religious studies at UNM. An avid and adept golfer throughout his life, he scored in the 70s for many years, and shared his love and skill with his grandsons, who were the light of his life. While in Albuquerque, he was proud to volunteer for many years with The Storehouse, with St. Martin's Hospitality Center, and more recently as a tutor at E. G. Ross Elementary School and as a tax preparer for AARP. Services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made either to the Memorial Fund of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6901 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque 87109, or to The Storehouse, 106 Broadway Blvd. SE,Albuquerque 87102.

Beighley -- A Memorial Service for Mary H. Beighley, wife of Dr. Harold V. Beighley will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Hobbs, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs. Mrs. Beighley died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Mary Elizabeth Herbert Beighley was born on August 27, 1924 in Columbus, OH to Chester and Marie Herbert. She attended Ohio State University and graduated from Christ Hospital Nursing School in Cincinnati, OH. She married Dr. Harold Beighley on October 7, 1949 in Columbus, OH. They moved to Albuquerque in 1950 where they lived until 1969, then moved to Hobbs, NM. Mary was a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque Chapter Q of the PEO Sisterhood, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Hobbs Country Club Ladies Golf Association, Salvation Army Board of Directors, New Mexico Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild, and Hobbs Rose Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Elizabeth Beighley. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Cindy Gardner of Wray, CO; three sons, Tom of San Antonio, TX, Donn of Dexter, MO, and Sam of Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Virginia Gardner of Alpharetta, GA, and Anne Frank of Greensburg, KY; one brother, John Herbert of Phoenix, AZ; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, NM Boys Ranch, or the charity of your choice.

Burgarello -- Salvatora"Sally" Burgarello, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982, died Monday, November 18, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Vita Marchese and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; sons, Mario Burgarello and wife, Anna of Albuquerque and Sal Burgarello and wife, Maria of Queens, NY; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Josephine Baiamonte of Florida. Mrs. Burgarello was born in Kansas City, MO and moved to Sicilia, Italy at age six where she grew up. She later married Joseph Burgarello and they had three children while living there. At age 35 Mrs. Burgarello returned to New York and in 1982, she moved to Albuquerque. Mrs. Burgarello was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 21, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Cadena -- Joe Ray Cadena, age 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday November 17, 2002. His nephew, Gilbert Cadena and wife, Rose of Albuquerque; and many other numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, survive him. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army as a young man. He was also a boxer in this youth. A native of Albuquerque, Joe worked as a baker for Jill's Bakery for 25 years. He was also active in the Senior Community Center for Barelas. Cremation has taken place and a reception gathering will be held Friday November 22, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE (323-9000).

Chacon -- Mr. Henry Chacon died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 62. Mr. Chacon was born and raised in the Barelas neighborhood. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired CPA. Mr. Chacon is survived by his father, George Chacon; mother, Trinie Chacon; wife, Katherine Chacon; sons, Vincent Chacon and Victor Chacon; daughter, Valerie Chacon; brothers, Kelley Chacon and Wilfred Chacon; sister, Shirley Lovato; grandchildren, Darrien Chacon and Jacob Chacon; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Chacon will be held on Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Cortez, Freddie Griego, Wilfred Chacon, Kelley Chacon, Darrien Chacon and Jacob Chacon. Cruz -- Bennie Cruz, 84, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2002. He was born on August 3, 1918 in Tinaja, NM. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carolina Cruz. Mr. Cruz is survived by his wife, Beatrice Cruz; sons, Benjamin A. Cruz and wife, Gertrude and John Cruz and fiance, Anita; one daughter, Josephine Gilcrease and husband, William; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Bennie will be deeply missed by his loving family. Final viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m with Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Davis -- Sherrell S.R. Davis, 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, who spent his life in service for others, died Monday, November 18, 2002. He was known for his integrity and honesty in the local car sales market. His last years were spent doing what he dearly loved, working for the Quality Dealerships by DiLorenzo. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and customers. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Kay Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lorrie Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Murphy; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild, all of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Mildred Davis of Brownwood, TX and Haskell and Barbara Davis of Del City, OK; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was a lifetime member of the Albuquerque Breakfast Civitan Club. Dellario -- Angelo Dellario, formerly of Schenectady, New York, and a resident of Albuquerque, died on November 16, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital of pneumonia. He was 83. Born in Caltanisetta, Sicily in 1919, Mr. Dellario emigrated with his family a year later to Schenectady. There, he opened Lafayette Clothes, a high-fashion men's store, which he owned and operated for 45 years. In 1991, he and his wife Julia retired to Albuquerque where his son, Thomas Dellaira had made his home. A certified graphoanalyst, often called to testify in court cases, Mr. Dellario also worked in the men's department at Dillard's and helped to promote a series of Historical Albuquerque Calendars in conjunction with the Albuquerque Museum. He is survived by his wife, Julia, of Albuquerque; two sons, Michael Dellaira and his wife, Brenda Wineapple of New York City and Thomas Dellaira and his wife, Mary Carnes of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Ava and Laura Dellaira and many beloved nephews and nieces.

Denton -- Phoebe Lou Denton, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Sunday, November 17, 2002 in her home. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Denton of Vancouver, WA, Pam Gray of Chicago, IL and Paula Schaub and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Grady Carl and wife Lois of Bartlesville, OK; and three sisters, Claudine May and husband, Edwin of Silverton, TX, Betty Starnes and husband, Lou of Tulia, TX and Ann Mayfield and husband, Aubrey of Ropes, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Denton; son, Danny; daughter, Peggy; sister, Maurine; brother, Bill; and granddaughter, Lisa. Mrs. Denton was a loving mother and grandmother. Gabaldon -- Rumaldita Gabaldon, 82, a lifelong resident of Los Chavez, passed away on Tuesday November 12, 2002 surrounded by her loving family. Rumaldita was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Elias Gabaldon; and her parents, Saturnino and Loreta Chaves. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Salas; her grandchildren, Ted Salas and his wife, Lori, Annette Turley and her husband, Bronson, David Salas, Yvonne Salas and her fiance, Anthony Trujillo; and her great-grandson, Tristen Turley. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Barreras and her late husband, Jake, Paublita Benavides, Ermelina Ortega and her husband, Alex, Agapita Zamora; her brother, Saturnino Chavez, Jr. and his wife, Concha; and many nieces and nephews. The most important thing in Rumaldita's life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched the lives of many people who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the kindness and generosity offered to them by family and friends. Funeral services were celebrated on November 15, 2002 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Father David Gallegos officiating. Burial will followed at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Jimenez -- Consuelo (Connie) R. Jimenez passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 79. Connie was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was born in El Paso, Texas and lived there with her family for 72 years. The last seven years she lived with her two sons and their families. Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Joe V. Marvin -- Isaac Waldo"Zeke" Marvin, 94, a 52-year resident of Albuquerque and recently a resident of Roswell since 1995, died Monday, November 18, 2002. He is survived by his nieces, Mary Lu Manoles of Edwina, MN, Corinne Verhines of Roswell, NM; nephews, Bob Siebel of Indianapolis, IN and John Byal of Florida; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mr. Marvin was born in Findley, OH to Isaac and Ada Marvin. He came to Albuquerque in the early 40's and married Wilma L. House in March 1949. She preceded him in death February 25, 1992. Mr. Marvin was a body shop repairman for Galles Motor Co for 25 years, and later for Dan Ely Buick Co until his retirement. Services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2002, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow. Matusa -- Charles D. Matusa of Huntsville died Thursday. He was 86. Mr. Matusa was born and raised in Luzerne Pennsylvania. After serving in the Air Force during World War II he moved to New Mexico where he received a Masters Degree in Spanish from the University of New Mexico. He founded and ran for many years a small business, Trade Products Inc. He was an avid sportsman and loved to fish and hunt in Northern New Mexico. He recently moved to Huntsville to be near his son. He was preceded in death by his first wife Irma Matusa and his second wife Betty Matusa. Survivors include one son Michael Matusa of Madison and one daughter Paula Matusa of Rancho Palos Verdes California. The funeral service will be held on 23 November in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Oberbeck -- Marie Vi"Bo-Bo" Oberbeck, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2002 in Montgomery, AL. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dari Oberbeck of Prattville, AL; and son, Jeff Oberbeck of Albuquerque; parents, Harry and Corine"Cora" Garcia; birth father, Frank Fernandez; four brothers and five sisters, Marten, Felix, Mark, Donald and Kirk, Carol, Janice, Margaret, Frankie Ann and Charmaine; three grandchildren; four Godchildren; 19 nieces and nephews; and a very special aunt, La La Lopez. Vi was born July 1, 1945 in Albuquerque. She lost one kidney in 1986 and her remaining kidney failed in August 2000. Her son, Jeff donated one of his kidneys for the transplant. Jeff gave her two years and two months of life. He is our hero! Vi served on the Board of Directors of the Montgomery area Kidney Foundation in Montgomery, AL. She always made time for family and especially the young nieces. Vi's annual tea parties with the children would both entertain and educate them in proper manners. Vi was a loving person who always had time to listen to others. She will be missed but never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2002, 1:00 p.m. at San Jose De Armijo Cemetery.

Robison -- Mrs. Mary K. Robison, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since November 1958, died Monday, November 18, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edwin H. Robison, O.D. of Albuquerque; son, Edwin H. Robison III, O.D. and wife, Suzanne of Albuquerque; daughter, Mollianne Robison of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Stephanie D. Robison, Katherine G. Sanchez, and Cassandra E. Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth R. Ham in 1998. Mrs. Robison was born in Frankfort, IN and has resided in Albuquerque for 44 years. She traveled extensively in the Southwest and Mexico with her husband on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and side-car. Mrs. Robison loved southwest history and archaeology. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside Service will be held Friday, November 22, 2002, 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Zapata -- Filomena R. Zapata, age 95, a resident of Albuquerque, died November 18, 2002. Filomena was born and raised in Silver City, NM and moved to Albuquerque ten years ago. Survivors include her sister, Avelina Gallegos and husband, Bennie of Albuquerque; brother, Adolpho Zapata and wife, Bessie of Silver City, NM; brother in-law, Alfredo Lucero of Silver City, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregivers Elena Segura and Debbie Lambrose and Eucharistic Minister Eddie Andrade. Viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2002 in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2002 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 820 Broadway SE with Fr. Robert Stanion, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Herald Gallegos, Wilfred Gonzales, Bob Stone, Gregorio Ambriz, Pat Doniga and David Galaviz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Cardenas, H.B. Gallegos, Danny Sanchez and Armando Castelazu. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is handling her arrangements.
