Albertson -- J.W."Dub" Albertson, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950 died Friday, August 23, 2002. Dub is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ella Albertson of Albuquerque; daughter, Cheryl Gushard and husband, Ron Hoyt of Albuquerque; sons Jeff Albertson and wife, Shawn of Albuquerque, John Albertson of Santa Fe; sister, Billie Jean Steele and husband, Kelly Kearney of Odessa, TX; grandchildren, Mike Gushard, Heather Cano, Shanda Albertson, Kerri Albertson, Maggie Albertson, Mariah Albertson, Koty Deats; and five great-grandchildren. He served his country in the U.S. Marines in WWII. He was a member of VFW Post #401. Dub was owner operator of Dub's Watch Repair from 1962-1984. He was known as the Watch Maker's Watchmaker. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at French Morturary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cementary. Casey -- Ambrose John Casey, age 86, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2002 at home after a long illness. He was born April 18, 1916 in Vivian, South Dakota to the late Joseph Franklin and Annie Elizabeth (SerVoss) Casey. He was married to Geraldine Agnes Molumby, in Cheyenne, WY and she passed away in July 1983. He is survived by his wife, Melba Shelby-Casey of Albuquerque; two daughters, Susan Agnes Casey-Sanchez of Los Lunas, Sheila Marie Casey-Kelly and her husband, Brian; two sons, Dennis Jerome Casey of Tucson, AZ, John Jerome Casey and his wife, Paula of Albuquerque; three sisters, Lois Miller, Kathleen Costello and Josephine Houska; ten grandchildren; one step-daughter, Ellen Doyle and one step-son, Luke Shelby. He was preceded in death by two sons, Colin John Casey in 1991 and David John Casey in 1981; one sister, Phyllis Myers; three brothers, Meryl, Delos and Mark; and one step-son, Matthew Shelby. He spent his childhood days in Chamberlain, South Dakota. He was a registered pharmacist for 41 years and practiced pharmacy in Wyoming and New Mexico. He was the owner and operator of Casey's Your Drug Store, west of Washington on Lomas. Ambrose was an entrepreneur in Wyoming, South Dakota, California and New Mexico. He loved music and enjoyed singing and playing many musical instruments. The Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening, August 28, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle N.E. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.

Donnelly -- Lieutenant General Harold C."Sam" Donnelly, US Air Force (retired), age 92, passed away on August 24, 2002. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, and spent his early years in Auburn, New York. In 1927 he enlisted in the 108th infantry, New York National Guard, as a private. He took competitive examinations for an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, first from New York State and then from the country at large. He won an appointment to be a cadet at West Point and entered the Military Academy on July 1, 1929. He graduated in 1933 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Coast Artillery. During his first assignment at Fortress Monroe, Virginia, while at a party aboard a British battle cruiser, he met and later married Dorothy"Dottie" Bishop, daughter of then Colonel and Mrs. Percy Poe Bishop. While on his subsequent assignment to Panama, Sam and Dottie had two daughters, Peggy and Judy. In 1936 the Donnelly's were assigned to the Philippines where Sam served as aide-de-camp to now Major General P.P. Bishop. They spent a year on Corregidor and another in Manila with the Philippine Infantry Division. In 1941 he attended the Army Command & General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and in 1943 went to the Army Navy Staff College in Washington, D.C. He was assigned in 1944 to the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater where he served under General"Vinegar Joe" Stillwell in New Delhi, India, and in Chungking, China; and later was assigned to the staff of Admiral Louis MountBatten, Supreme Commander, Southeast Asia Command. In 1946 he was designated as Chief of Staff and in the capacity he had staff responsibility for the deactivation and closeout of the China-Burman-India Theater. Upon his return from India he was assigned to the Pentagon in the Plans Directorate of the Army General Staff. In 1947 Sam, then a colonel transferred to the Air Force and became the executive officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force. Following his graduation from the Air War College in 1948 he was assigned to the Office of the Assistant for Atomic Energy, HQ, U.S. Air Force, and later was named as the military executive to the Under Secretary of the Air Force. In 1951 he became the Chief of Staff for the Armed Forces Special Weapons Program. In 1953 Sam was promoted to Brigadier general and joined the Supreme Allied Headquarters (SHAPE) in Paris, France, as the Chief, Plans and Policy Branch, SHAPE. He returned to the United States in 1957 and was assigned as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Programs, Headquarters, U. S. Air Force. After his promotion to major general in 1960 he came to Albuquerque as the Commander, Field Command, Defense Atomic Support Agency, at Sandia Base (now Kirtland AFB East) with the responsibility for atomic testing and the maintenance of the national nuclear weapons stockpile sites. Sam departed Field Command in 1963 and returned to Washington, D.C., where he was assigned as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Research and Development, HQ, U.S. Air Force. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in January 1964 and became the Director, Defense Atomic Support Agency, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. After 35 years of distinguished military service he retired from the Air Force in July, 1968; his decorations include two Distinguished Service medals, three Legions of Merit, two Commendation Medals, Philippine Government Defense Medal, Defense Atomic Support agency Distinguished Service Medal, Order of the British Empire (Officer Class), and the French Legion of Honor. Sam and Dottie returned to Albuquerque to establish their home and he became the Manager of the Albuquerque Operations Office, Atomic Energy Commission, where he supervised 1,200 AEC employees and 27,800 civilian contractor personnel in the nuclear weapons development and production complexes. In 1973 he received a Presidential Commendation for his distinguished contributions to the development, production, and quality assurance to the nation's nuclear weapons. Also that year he was given the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award for his vigorous encouragement of better communications and understanding among government agencies and for his community activities. And in 1974 he received the AEC's Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding contributions to the nation's atomic energy programs, the highest award the AEC can bestow on its employees. Sam retired from the Atomic Energy Commission in May 1975, and continued his civilian career by becoming a consultant in nuclear science, organization, and management with the Science and Engineering Associates in Albuquerque. His contributions to the Albuquerque community are legion: President of the United Way for two terms and served on its board for several years, first President of the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation and continued for a number of terms on the hospital's board; was a member of the board of the Albuquerque National Bank and through several subsequent changes in the Bank's name; was a longtime active member of the Great Southwest Council, Boy Scouts of America, and was the leader in many of its fund drive-campaigns. Sam was one of the early members of the board of the Albuquerque Academy and was active for 15 years during the phenomenal growth of the school, and remained as an honorary trustee, member of the Board of Directors, new Mexico Symphony Orchestra; member on the New Mexico Council on Crime and Delinquency, membership and designated a Living Legend of the Albuquerque Rotary Club, and a member of the Albuquerque Country Club. Sam and Dottie enjoyed international traveling and had the opportunity to visit many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and islands in the Pacific and Caribbean. In 1998 he attended the 65th Reunion of his 1933 Class at the United States Military Academy and was looking forward to the 70th. He is survived by his wife, Dottie, Albuquerque; two daughters, Peggy, wife of Colonel Peter J. Hino, Albuquerque, and Judy, wife of Colonel Warren A. Samuel Samouce, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Dr. Peter D. Hino, Dallas, Texas, Michael Samouce and Kimberly Mineo, Austin, Texas, Robert Samouce, Naples, Florida; and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special heartfelt thanks to Pauline Acoya who was an exceptional longtime friend and helper for over 30 years, and to the care givers, Yvonne Acoya, Carla Hazle, Marilyn McIlroy, and Caroline Fahy, who all provided the utmost tender care, and also the staffs of New Heart and Vista Care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in his name to the Association of Graduates, U.S. Military Academy, 698 Mills Road, West Point, N.Y. 10996-1607, or to a charity of choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Kirtland Chapel, Kirtland Air Force Base, enter Wyoming Gate; tell guards you are going to Gen Donnelly Memorial Services at Kirtland Chapel. He will be taken back to Arlington National Cemetery for final burial and Funeral Mass in Ft. Meyer Chapel, Thursday, September 5, 2002. Flora -- Brian Flora, known also as"Professor Flora" the magician, died at his home on Saturday, August 24, 2002. Brian was well-known to children and families in Albuquerque, performing at restaurants, outdoor events, and parties. Memorial Services to commemorate his life and work will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle Blvd. SE. Greene -- Amo Greene, 67, A longtime resident of Albuquerque currently residing in Chama passed away at her home on Monday, August 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Greene of the family home; her children, David Greene and wife, Lesa of Oldsmar, Florida, Andrée Ortega and husband, Alex of New Hope, Minnesota, Rick Greene of Albuquerque, NM and Michael Greene and wife, Stephanie of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Knipfing -- Richard T."Dick" Knipfing, Sr., 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Sunday, August 25, 2002. A native of Westbury, New York, he is survived by his wife, Marion Knipfing who shared his life and love for nearly 62 years. He is also survived by his son, Dick Knipfing, Jr. and wife, Charlene; daughter, Joyce Skasik and husband, Fred; and daughter, Beth Royer and husband, Paul, all of Albuquerque. In addition he is survived by his sister, Sr. M. Antoine-Daniel, SSND of Wilton, Connecticut; his much loved grandchildren,Tina Johnson and husband, Paul, Trey Knipfing and wife, Annette, Bridget Goldfarb and husband, John, Suzanne Skasik, Chris Royer, Allyson Royer and Katie Royer. Other survivors are his seven great-grandchildren who always brought a happy sparkle to his eyes, Tyler, Sarah and Ashley Johnson, Lauren and Kyle Goldfarb, Jake Todd and Michael Royer. Dick Knipfing, Sr., was born into a large, tight-knit family. His parents, Michael and Anna Knipfing preceded him in death as did 12 of his sisters and brothers; Catherine, Florence, Charley, Marie, Joe, Thomas, Skid, Bill, Robbie, George, Agnes, and Albie. Dick was a veteran of World War II, a proud member of the Navy's fighting"Seabees." He had deferment from the draft, but joined up voluntarily because, as was the case with so many of the"greatest generation," he loved his family and his country and was willing to sacrifice himself to protect them. Most of all he loved his God and his Catholic faith. A Rosary will be recited on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with the Marianites reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, with Father Ronald L. Bruckner, Celebrant. Lucero -- Mr. Patrick K. Lucero, 81, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 25, 2002, peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family. Mr. Lucero is the beloved husband of 49 years to Mrs. Margaret Lucero. Mr. Lucero is also survived by his five daughters, Liz Thorn and husband, Jerry, Helen, Patricia, Loretta, Gloria Baca and Kelly Ann; seven sons, Kelly, Patrick, Carl and Anthony Lucero, Leroy, Jimmy and Steve Padilla; three brothers, Bill Lucero, Leo Lucero and wife, Frances and Art Lucero; 28 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Lucero was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Mott -- Pauline Amelia Mott passed away peacefully on July 5, 2002. A resident of Albuquerque for 54 years, she was an avid collector of antiques and curiosities. She owned and operated Mott's Antiques and Used Furniture store for 14 years. We remember her fondly as a lifelong animal lover, devoting her time and energy to helping homeless animals. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Mott (still missed); and survived by three children, Steve Mott, Sandra Thomas, Maryanne Rear; two granddaughters, Aleisha Rear, and Kathryn Thomas; and her sister, Geniva Shelton of Atlanta, GA. May she rest in peace.

Otero -- Magdaleno Otero, 76, a native of New Mexico, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Sunday, August 25, 2002. Magdaleno has gone to our lord, after fighting a long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by the entire family. His parents, Miguel and Rebecca Otero preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Juanita Otero; children, Virgil Otero and wife, Dina of Los Lunas, Erma Greene and husband, Steve of Pullman, WA, Martin Otero and Dolores Maestas of Albuquerque, Elmer Otero and wife, Cathy of Los Lunas; nine grandchildren, Consuelo Otero of Albuquerque, Elmer D. Otero of Los Lunas, Adrian Otero stationed in Washington, DC, Luis Otero of Albuquerque, Mario Otero of Los Lunas, Catrina Otero of Albuquerque, Rebecca Otero of Albuquerque, and Jared and Kaitlin Greene of Pullman, WA; an older sister, Luz Otero; younger sisters and brothers, Josie Maldonado, Carmen Mora, Rachel Chavez and husband, Gilbert of Albuquerque, Cecilia Romero of Tome, Senaida Gurule and husband, Abel, Joe Otero and Amadeo and wife, Patsy Otero of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His younger brothers, Victor and Mike Otero of Albuquerque, preceded him in death. Magdaleno was born on February 1, 1926 in Tajique, NM. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving at the end of World War II. He was employed by ACF and retired from General Electric after 33 years, retiring in 1989. Those who knew him especially for his knowledge and character will dearly miss Magdaleno. Thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him and Hospice of Vista Care. Pallbearers will be Elmer D. Otero, Adrian Otero, Luis Otero, Mario Otero and nephews, Ronald Chavez and Tony Otero. Honorary pallbearers will be Consuelo, Catrina, Rebecca Otero and Kaitlin Greene and godson, Ivan Chavez. Partee -- Dorothy Diver Partee died August 8, 2002 in Vancouver, WA. She was born February 5, 1909 in Dawson, NM a former Phelps Dodge mining community in northern NM. Her father, Frank C. Diver was the physician and Chief Surgeon at Dawson Hospital. A 1930 graduate of the University of New Mexico, she was a Chi Omega and former board member of the Pi Gamma chapter. Married to Alton Davis Partee for 46 years before his death in 1980, she lived in Albuquerque where she was financial secretary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church and a secretary with the Albuquerque Public Schools. She also lived in Tempe, AZ and recently moved to Oregon with her daughter. Dorothy was a devoted wife, a"true lady" in every way, an avid traveler, love of life and adventure, a sincere friend to all who knew her and a loving mother. She is survived by two daughters, Dixee Partee of Scappoose, OR, and Polly Holbrook, Of Portland, OR; a son-in-in-law, Chuck Polityka; sister, Mrs. Nedra Goff and family of Albuquerque and cousins. Rogers -- Roy A. Rogers, Jr. 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, and coming to New Mexico from Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2002. Roy was born June 24, 1922 the son of Roy A. and Cornelia Jane Glover Rogers, Sr. in Canyon, Texas. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School in 1940. Roy was a member of the Mason's, A.F. and A. M., Hirim Lodge #13 since 1951, and a member of the Machinist Union (Steward). Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cornelia Rogers, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Rogers; three children, Allen R. Rogers and wife, Judith, Jerry L. Rogers and wife, Faye, and Janie S. Hern and husband, Billy; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Rebekah, Allen Roy, Jon, Stephanie, Michael, Renee, Richard, and Aimee; six great grandchildren, James, Rachel, Mary, Joseph, William, and Courtney. Schultz -- Karen E. Schultz, 58, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died August 24, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Robert"Bob" Schultz; her daughter Bridgette Greenleaf and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; son, Christopher Schultz of Albuquerque; granddaughter Leah; father, Ora Horton; brothers, Robert DeLoach, Travis Horton, Larry DeLoach, Jerry DeLoach and Wayne DeLoach. She was a co-worker with her husband of"Strictly Southwestern" on Eubank. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who know her. Segura -- Edwina M. Segura, 45, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2002. She was born on July 22, 1957 in Las Vegas, NM. Smythe -- Samuel S. Smythe, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died on Saturday, August 24, 2002. He is survived by; his sister-in-law, Ruby Wochner of Canyon, TX; brother-in-law, Raymond Bradshaw of Waterflow, NM; two nieces; five nephews; several other grand-nieces and nephews; and special friend, Roger Rasley of Albuquerque. Vargas -- Louisa Bachicha Gilb Vargas died at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carlota Bachicha. She is survived by her devoted husband, Petronilo Wake Vargas, Sr.; two sons, William"Billy" Gilbert, and Isaac Vargas; five daughters, Gloria Vargas and husband Pepe, Jr., Della Jaramillo and husband, Michael, Charlene Sepulvida and husband, John, Jeanette Gilbert and Christina Gonzales and husband, Gilbert, all of Albuquerque; one brother, Joe Bachicha; two sisters, Nina Gomez and Margaret Vargas; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Our beloved mother, grandmother and wife went to Jesus while at home with all her family and friends caring for her during this special time. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services for Mrs. Vargas will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Final viewing will be held on Wednesday morning at Salazar & Sons Mortuary at 7:45 a.m. with the procession leaving at 9:00 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at the San Juan Neponuceno Catholic Church in Chililli, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Chililli Cemetery.
