Bowman -- Herbert Clifford Bowman, 90, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in Colorado Springs. He was born August 1st, 1911,in Topeka, Kansas, to Clifford and Ora Bowman, who are deceased. Also deceased are his sisters, Thelma Windscheffel and twin, Helen St. John. Herb is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Bowman. He is also survived by his son, Laird Bowman, Laird's wife, Mary Bowman; three grandchildren, Debbie Cuchiara, Mitzi Bowman, and Nick Bowman; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Leah Cuchiara. Herb graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas,in 1936. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity there. For 23 years, he was employed by the Federal Housing Administration. He and Louise lived in Albuquerque, from 1962 to 1994, when they moved to Colorado Springs. After retiring in 1973, they were active in the Wally-Byam Airstream Club and Herb was president of the New Mexico chapter. They traveled extensively within the United States, including Alaska, as well as to Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Eastern and Western Canada on Airstream Travel Club Caravans. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Bowman will be in-state on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gable Funeral Home, who is handling arrangements. Bullard -- We the family of Clarence Ray Bullard wish to express our deep gratitude to all who lovingly supported us as we coped with the loss of Ray, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Caffrey -- Philip Caffrey, an Albuquerque native, was taken from us suddenly on Monday, July 22, 2002 in a tragic automobile accident in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Mechelle; and his two devoted daughters, Curran and Ainsley; his mother, Ann Caffrey Reddy, of Rio Rancho; his two sisters, Ann Marie Cale and Cecilia Colucci, both of Albuquerque; by his eight brothers, John, Kevin, Christopher and Brian, all in Albuquerque, Michael and Richard, of Nampa, Idaho, Daniel, of Santa Fe, and Timothy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, his step-father; his parents-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Philip was born in Albuquerque on May 23, 1962. He graduated from St. Pius High School where he played basketball and started many lifelong friendships. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated from North Carolina State University. He was a chemical engineer and enjoyed his work for the chemical company Hoest Celanese. He had recently relocated to Corpus Christi from Bay City, Texas. He was active in the local Presbyterian Church and was well known for his wonderful work as a local girls' soccer coach. He also especially enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, both in church and around a New Mexico camp fire. Philip was cremated in Corpus Christi and a Memorial Service was held on Thursday, July 25, 2001. Philip was an unusually kind and generous man. He was an extraordinarily loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered fondly by all. Carabajal -- Mary Ann Carabajal, 62, went home with the Lord July 27, 2002. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mary Ann was born in Fairview, NM., and lived in Albuquerque. She is survived by her children, Lisa Ann Baca and husband, Michael, Loretta Marie Carabajal, and Christopher Patrick Carabajal; grandchildren, Shaun Carabajal, Amber Christine Carabajal, and Lisa Michelle Baca; loving sisters, Erlinda Wiggins and Erlinda Robbins; brothers, Aaron Sanchez Jr, and Gilbert Sanchez; cousin Pearl Schubert; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2002 with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Foster -- Marjorie Benson Foster, 67 passed away Friday, July 26, 2002. She was born August 11, 1934 in Geneva, IL. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Donald Foster; sons, Todd Foster, and Scott Foster and wife, Susan; grandson, Kyle Foster; sister, Betty Weideman; brother, Gordon Benson and wife, Corinne; brother-in-law, Daniel Jones. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Marjorie was proceeded in death by her father, Emil Benson and mother, Virginia Benson; brother, James Benson; sister, Jeanne Jones; brother-in-law, Robert Weideman. Marjorie graduated form Batavia High school, Batavia, IL and received BA Degree from DePauw University, Greencastle, IN. She arrived in Albuquerque with her husband and two sons in 1964. Marjorie is remembered by her sons and their friends for the active and loving roles she played in their lives. Marjorie was team mother in her sons' sports leagues; and she instituted a Jr. Great Books program in Corrales. She was active in PTA. She loved to organize special birthday parties and camping trips for her sons and their friends, and she made her home a center for neighborhood children where she would bake cakes and cookies; and later she enjoyed baking with her grandson, Kyle. She enjoyed casual luncheons and dinners and informal gatherings with family and friends. During the holidays Marjorie prepared traditional Swedish dishes for her family and guests. Her interest in cookery is reflected in a popular cookbook of Spanish tapes she co-authored with her husband. Music was a passion and joy for Marjorie. She was an accomplished musician who loved to play and listen to classical music and jazz. Before and after coming to Albuquerque, she was a church organist, played cello in various amateur groups, and played piano professionally in dance bands, often performing with her husband; she also played guitar. Marjorie was a music therapist for two years at Beatty Memorial Hospital in Indiana. She gave private lessons in Albuquerque and Corrales for many years, and was a substitute teacher in the Albuquerque Public Schools. Marjorie loved to travel. She took more than a dozen trips to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, which included a year camping in Europe in a VW camper bus with her husband and two sons; more recently, Marjorie and her husband took trips with their grandson though the western states, into Mexico and Canada, and to Portugal. Marjorie loved working in her garden and enjoyed the family pets, which included, over the years, many much loved dogs; and, while living in Corrales, cats, a goat, rooster and other pets. Marjorie will be remembered for her courageous 40-year struggle with diabetes and its debilitating side effects; and in the last years of her life, for her fight against cancer. Her strength and determination were and inspiration to all who knew her, She was a loving and caring person who, as her grandson said, put others before herself. She will be deeply missed by all family and friends. Family members wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Douglas Clark and the professional staff and volunteers of Presbyterian Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. Chapel NE, with Pastor Lemuel Boyles officiating. Garrison -- Violet Faye Garrison born on May 28, 1911, in Connell, Washington, died on Saturday, July 27, 2002 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Violet lived in Moscow, Idaho for 60 years, graduating from Moscow High School in 1929, where she enjoyed participating in sports during her childhood and high school years. While in Moscow, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary; and she worked as a doctor's receptionist, while raising two daughters. Upon retirement in 1975, she moved to Soquel, California to be near her daughter, Margaret. She served as a deacon at Trinity Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing golf and bridge. Violet moved to Albuquerque in 1995 to be near her daughter, Patsy and her family. She was a resident of the retirement community La Vida Llena for six years. She was an active resident and enjoyed the friendship of many people. Violet will be dearly missed by dear friends in Moscow, Soquel, Santa Cruz and Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy and husband, Richard Adams; granddaughter, Stefanie and husband, Robert Greiner, all of Albuquerque; and daughter, Margaret Garrison of Paris, France. Her life will be honored at a memorial service at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, on Tuesday, July 30th, at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will be arranged by French Mortuary and remains will be interred in the family plot in Moscow, Idaho. Gonzales -- Annie Gonzales, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Toby O. Gonzales, of the family home; daughters, Julia Gabaldon and husband, John; Irene N. Gonzales; Darlene Nevarez, all of Albuquerque, and Michelle Rendon of Santa Monica, CA; grandchildren, Anna Marie Garcia and husband, Vince; John Gabaldon, Jr., and wife, Dolly; and Candice Korte; great-grandchildren, Elena Marie Garcia and Giovanni Gabaldon; sister, Rebecca Sanchez; and sister-in-law, Edna Mascarenas, all of Albuquerque. Annie was born and raised in Dixon, NM, and graduated from Menaul High School. She worked at First National Bank until retirement. Grogan -- Jennifer Elizabeth Grogan, 37, of Albuquerque died Friday, July 26, 2002 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Eden, NC. Jennifer was a Captain in the US Air Force and she was a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC. She later received her Masters from Florida State University. Gutierrez -- Andrea V. Gutierrez, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bernadette"Berna" Torres in 1999. She is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Mores Gutierrez; her four daughters, Tarcy Quigley, Irene Reeder, Geraldine Gutierrez, and Margaret Kline; her son, Phillip Molina; her two step-sons, Mores Gutierrez Jr. and his wife, Geraldine and Norbert Gutierrez; her two step-daughters, Anna Mora and Ava Gutierrez; her many grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Trinnie Vigil and his wife, Annabelle of Barstow, CA. She is also survived by her loving and caring cousin, Maria Griego. All services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Henry -- Dorothy I. Henry, 43, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 28, 2002. Dorothy is the beloved daughter to Felicita Lucero; loving mother to four daughters, Desiree Earnest and husband, Nathan, Dolores Lucero, Valerie Lucero and CarlaDee Henry; three sons, Arthur Lucero, Jose Lucero and Jamil Henry; three sisters, Deborah Martinez, Emilia Benavidez and husband, James, Maxine Fajardo and fiance, Pete Vega; five grandchildren, Jason, Gen-bug, Jennifer, Justin and Laveen; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lovato -- Milo R. Lovato, loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend was taken from us unexpectedly on July 25, 2002. Milo was born on October 11, 1972 and has touched many lives in his short 29 years. He is loved by all who were blessed to know him. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Lovato (Atencio); mother, Cathy Lovato (Rimbert); father, Roderick Lovato; brothers, Donovan L. Lovato and wife, Roxanne, Josh G. Lovato; grandmother, Genevieve Roberts; numerous aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends. Montoya -- Lucia Madril Montoya, 92, a longtime Encino, NM resident died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Sandia Hospice in Albuquerque following an illness. Mrs. Montoya was born May 25, 1910 in Duran, NM where she was reared and attended school. She graduated from Encino High School. Lucia married Tomas Montoya at Duran, NM on November 30, 1928. They owned and operated Tom Montoya and Son General Merchandise Store at Encino for many years. They also ranched at Encino for over 50 years. Mrs. Montoya was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Encino. She spent her days praying and reading. Lucia was preceded in death by her husband, Tomas in 1974; an infant daughter, Mercedes Montoya in 1930; three brothers, Sabino Madril, Narciso Madril, and Boney Madril; and two sisters, Ursula Garcia, and Rosalia Roybal. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed by her family. Survivors include a son, Tom Montoya and wife, Caroline of Encino, NM; two daughters, Fanny Montoya of Encino, NM, Mercedes Pena and husband, Andy of Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Annette Montoya of Albuquerque and Elaine Prickett of Las Cruces; three grandsons, Philip Montoya of Encino, Chris Pena and Bobby Pena both of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Joseph Harrison and Renee Pena all of Albuquerque; one brother, Susano Madril; and one sister-in-law, Adelina Montoya both of Albuquerque. Also surviving are a numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Rosary Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2002 from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Encino. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 with Father John Jasinski, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow in the Encino Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Pena, Bobby Pena, Johnny Chris Madril, Frank Davila, Charlie Anaya, and Raymond Gallegos. Honorary Pallbearer will be Philip Montoya. Mosher -- Norna Theoline Skaug Mosher born in Aberdeen, SD, November 13, 1913 passed away from complications of Parkinson's on July 16, 2002 at the age of 88 in Bellevue, WA. She graduated from Mobridge High in 1931 and married Arthur A. Mosher May 30, 1931 in Sturgis, SD. She completed one year while they attended South Dakota School of Mines. They later lived in Browning Montana, Pueblo, CO, and since 1950 in Albuquerque. After 62 years together and Art's death, Norna moved in 1995 to Bellevue with her duaghter, Kay and son-in-law, Bob. She is survived by them; three granddaughters; and six adored great-grandchildren. While residing at Albuquerque Meadows Mobil Home Community, she served one years as president of the member's association. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Her interests include traveling, photography, gardening, entertaining, and teaching crafts and ceramics. During her years in Belleuve, she totally enjoyed her family gatherings with the extended family. Norna was wise, gentle and a quiet person who will be missed by all her family and friends. Norsworthy -- Geogre w. Norsworthy of Seminole, TX passed away at the age of 93 on July 29, 2002 at Hobbs Health Care Center. George was born on February 25, 1909 in Seale, LA. Mr. Norsworthy was a member of the Mounted Patrol of New mexico with the assigned #14. Also a member of Turtle's. He was an avid rock hound. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Norsworthy of Seminole, TX; sons, Bill Norsworthy of Costilla, NM, Linn Norsworthy of Seminole, TX; daughters, Denise Locklear of Myrtle Beach, NC, Gen Marquez of Las Begas, NM; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Patterson -- Robert M. Patterson, 86, passed away suddenly July 25, 2002. He had resided in Albuquerque since 1967. He was born on December 27, 1915 in Madison, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism in 1941. He worked for the Cape Cod Standard Times prior to his enlistment in the US Army in 1941 where he served until 1946. After his discharge, he went to work for the Department of the Army and in 1951, advanced to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He retired as the Indian Affairs Data Center Executive Officer in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois; his sons, Robert Jr. of Albuquerque and Michael and wife, Wanda of Oklahoma; his daughter, Linda Stephens and husband, J. Michael of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Ferrell Patterson and wife, Stacy, Beauchamp Patterson, Amber Tiger and husband, David, Morgan Bagley and husband, Clint all of Oklahoma, Chrisi Reid and husband, Mark of Huddersfield W Yorkshire England, Matthew Waite of Albuquerque, and Robert and David Stephens of Oregon; and five great-grandchildren, Thomas Lenaway, John Nichols, Justice Nichols, Garion Patterson and Molly Patterson; sisters, Florence (Patsy) De Master and husband, John of Sarasota, FL and their daughters, Jean and Barbara and sons, Doug and David, Mary Jean Hale and husband, Jim of Madison, WI; sister-in-law, Margie Manning of Tucson, AZ and her son, William and daughter, Karen. Poynor -- Edward Quitman Poyner, 79, a native of Clarksville, AR died Friday, July 26, 2002 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. The body was cremated. Mr. Poynor was a retired pharmacist. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Clarksville Country Club. He was a US Army Veteran, serving during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He attended the College of the Ozarks and graduated from the Southwestern College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, OK. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ann Bassett and her husband, Herbert H. Bassett of Albuquerque; a sister, Louise Spanke of Wheaton, IL; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; and a sister, Susie Maude Pittman. A Graveside Service and Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2002 at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville with the Reverend Lance Jones officiating. Richards -- Esther Clark Richards, died in Albuquerque on Sunday, July 28, 2002. Esther was born 96 years ago in Rangoon, Burma, the second child of missionary teacher parents Ambrose and Ora Newell Rice. Married Lloyd Richards in 1929, widowed in 1998 after 59 years of marriage. Survived by two siblings of six, William Rice of Northampton, MA and Ruth Nichols of Amarillo TX; three loving children, Lloyd W. of Ft Washington, MD, Kenneth L. of Albuquerque, and Elisabeth A. Newcomer of Overland Park, KS; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Esther unselfishly devoted her life to nurture those she loved. She was musical, intellectually daring, tolerant, and universally loved and respected. Spriggs -- James F. Spriggs, Jr., a resident of Albuquerque since 1996, passed away on July 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Haroldie Spriggs of Albuquerque; son, Kevin Spriggs of Silver Spring, MD; aunt, Elizabeth Giles of Knoxville, MD and cousin, Elaine Bonner of Washington, DC. Service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 515 Ash Street SE, with Pastor Dennis Dunn, II officiating. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Frederick, MD. Stevens -- Nan M. Yeager Stevens, 94, was honored on Sunday, July 28, 2002, when her Lord and Savior whispered her name to rejoice in Heaven as she rejoiced on earth. Nan was born Nannamae Yager in Weatherford, TX, February 10, 1908, to Alvis and Edna Cox Yager. (The spelling was changed to Yeager in the late 1920s.) Nan graduated from Bonham High School, Bonham, TX, in 1927, and continued her education through enrollment at the College of Industrial Arts, Denton, TX, later known as Texas State College for Women, and now Texas Woman's University. She graduated in 1931 with a major in Library Science, which led to her first job as a librarian at Borger High School, Borger, TX. Her monthly salary compensation was in the form of merchant vouchers as a result of the depression. Nan met James Dillard Stevens (Sr.) in Borger, and they were married in 1933. She taught Spanish, Latin, Geography, and Arithmetic at various Texas schools as she traveled where Jim's jobs took them. Jim's employment with the Army Corps of Engineers took them to the Panama Canal Zone during WWII. Nan Found employment with the Canal Zone motor vehicle office as an interpreter of Spanish/English and with the Canal Zone school system as a substitute teacher of Spanish. The Stevens family returned to the US in 1950, locating in Albuquerque. Nan was employed by the Department of Air Force as a Scientific and Technical Librarian assigned to the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, until her retirement in 1973. Nan was a member of the Adah Chapter No. 5, Order of The Eastern Star, and Daughters of Nile, Yucca Temple #74. Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 1996; sons, Larry in 1989 and James D. Jr. (Jimmie) in 2001. Nan is survived by one brother, Alvis Leeman (AL) Yeager, and wife, Esther of Paris, TX; two sons, Leeman Stevens and wife, Patti Manassas of VA; Stephen E. Stevens and wife, Patty of Albuquerque; two daughters, Charlotte N. Ferguson and husband, Brad of Clovis, CA, Karen K. Kerby and husband, Dale of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Loraine M. Hertel and husband, Wayne; and her caregiver grand puppy, Dahli; brothers-in-law and spouses, Bill and Inita Stevens of Borger, TX. Garland and Wanda Stevens of Norman, OK; sister-in-law, Sarah Margaret Stevens of Borger, TX. She has 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Nan's many friends who gave her unconditional love and support; Wanda McCollom, Anita Gillespie, Blanche Barney, Dave and Norma Barney, Charles and Mary Perkins, Jeanette Civerolo, Mary King, Sissy King, Mike and Carol Covino. The family thanks the Lovelace medical staff who cared for Nan so tenderly during her final weeks. A special appreciation to Dr. Charles Benton, Lovelace Health Services for many years of exceptional care. Nan was small in stature, a gentle and quiet woman, a woman of inner beauty, a woman with a big heart full of love and compassion. Integrity and selflessness were tenets by which she lived; she harbored no prejudices and prayed for peace and harmony. We will miss her inspiration, wisdom, strength and humor. Viewing and personal reflection times for this beloved woman will be Wednesday, July 31, 2002. From 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Av. SE. A celebration of Nan's life will be held for family and friends at the Tanoan Country Club, 10801 Academy Rd. Thigpen -- William Thigpen, 81, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Services were held at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Ballard and the Rev. Gene Hawkins. Burial was held at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. He was born June 19, 1921 in Bluewater, NM. He married Moselle Austin on September 9, 1947, in Albuquerque after graduating from Grants High School in Grants, NM. He moved to California and enrolled in the Anderson Trade School. After graduation, he worked as a Rockwell machine Inspector and Precision Parts Inspector for Douglas Aircraft. He later worked for Consolidated Steel as a shipfitter. He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He trained at the Sacramento Air Base and was shipped overseas to the 8th Air Force in England. He was transferred to the 1st Allied Airborne Command and served in the French and British West Indies. He was employed by the Pillsbury Company as a district manager in West Texas and New Mexico for 28 years. He was the owner and operator of a real estate business for 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1960 involved in the Sunday Morning Encouragers, Primetime Choir and the FAITH Team. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth of San Marcos; a daughter, Donna Thigpen Keyton of Palm Desert, CA; two brothers, Wilbur of Grants and Andy of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family suggest memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX,"Commit to Conquer Fund."

Yancey -- Lee Roy, 67, passed away July 27, 2002 at home after a short illness. Lee Roy was born June 24, 1935 in Bryson, Texas, son of Andrew Yancey and Martha Rhodes Yancey. He moved to New Mexico at age one. He is survived by two sisters, Cleo of Kentucky, Bertha of Washington; two brothers, James of Bloomfield, NM Dalton of Logan, NM; sons Roy of Albuquerque, Wade of Albuquerque; stepsons, Mark of Albuquerque, Monte of Albuquerque; step-daughter Rita of Colorado. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Blake Road Baptist Church, at 7:00 p.m. The church is located at 1704 Blake Road SW.
