Amparan -- Francisco J."Quico" Amparan, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Monday, July 22, 2002 at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife, Adelfa Amparan; daughters, Erlinda Sedillo and husband, Solomon, Victoria Muller and husband, Avelino, Diana Slopek and husband, Jeff, Eunice Ortega and husband, Albert, and Rosa Amparan; sons, Edmundo and wife, Kimberly, Victor and wife, Sylvia, Raul and wife, Linda, and David Amparan; 30 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Javier Francisco. Francisco was born in Camargo Chihuahua, Mexico on December 2, 1921. He married Adelfa Tercero on January 27, 1951. They started their family in Carlsbad, NM where five of their children were born then moved to Albuquerque in 1957 where their other five children were born. Francisco worked very hard as a cement finisher for over 30 years. Before retirement, he worked for the NM Contractors Association while running his own business with his sons, Amparan and Sons. He was very proud of his sons wanting to be just like him. He was very talented and enjoyed getting together with all of his family and friends, to sing and play his guitar. Music was his passion. When he showed up to a party, everyone always wanted the honor of enjoying his beautiful voice and wonderful talent of playing the guitar. He was very proud of all of his children and always wanted to have them play in an orchestra. Our brother, Edmundo, is carrying on his love of music. He played with various Mariachi groups, and sang with a Trio. He started his own group Frank and Sus Latinos and also played with Los Troubadores Trio. He was director of the Spanish Choir for many years. On Sundays, he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar for the Spanish Mass at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church. This past Sunday, the Lord allowed him to play his guitar one last time for him and his parish family. He lived a very fulfilling life surrounded by his loving wife, Adelfa"Fita" who cared for him with so much love everyday. They were always together enjoying each other and all of his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. The house was always full of children running around and his girls always gave him a smile from ear to ear. He always encouraged all of his children and grandchildren to speak the beautiful Spanish language. He was a very kind, humble, loving, and respected man who will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, July 24, 2002, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 25, 2002, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Blackwell -- Stanley A. Blackwell, age 39, and a resident of Las Cruces, passed away July 20, 2002. He is survived by hie wife, Michelle Blackwell; son, Christopher of Virginia; daughters, Ashley, Elizabeth and Devin; parents, Stanley and Lola Blackwell of Albuquerque; brother, Marcus of Las Cruces; sister, Staley Seidler of Albuquerque. Bullard -- Clarence Ray Bullard, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2002. He was born September 10, 1930 in George West, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Bullard; five children; daughter, Cynthia Kincheloe and husband Benny; daughter, Charlene Thompson and husband Bob; daughter Raylene Crabb and husband Rick; son, Michael Bullard and wife Ivy; and daughter,Patricia Bullard. Ray is also survived by eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly; two brothers, Fred and Truman Bullard; three sisters, Wanda Fails, Marie Buchannan, and Rita King and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents J.D. and Nina Bullard, and three brothers; George, Bub, and Norman Bullard. Ray started his road construction career forty-seven years ago. He worked for many companies in Texas, and New Mexico. As a finish blade operator, he helped build roads throughout Texas, New Mexico, and on Indian Reservations in Arizona. He loved his work and his family. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he had a strong realistic hope in a future resurrection. He also loved attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and visiting with his spiritual brothers and sisters. His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, 2:00 pm, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 109 Waterfall Dr. NE. Chavez -- Jacob Chavez, 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday July 20, 2002. He was born in 1912 to Melquides and Katalina Chavez in Belen, NM and moved to Gallup, NM in 1937 where he resided for eleven years. In 1948 he moved with his wife and children to San Bernadina, CA. He retired in 1974 after thirty-three years of dedication to the Santa Fe Rail Road. He then moved to Los Lunas where he resided for the past twenty-seven years until his passing. Jacob was an extremely hard worker and provided for his family excellently. The family never lacked anything, even during the Depression years. He also taught his family many worthwhile values. His family learned that honesty and truthfulness were two of the most valuable qualities that they would ever need in life. He was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, and also the Eagles Lodge for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vicente in 1989, Elias in 1998; and one sister, Elena Rodriguez in 1996; one granddaughter, Debra Lynn Tracy in 1957; and one grandson, Reynold Baca in 1976. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rose of their home in Los Lunas; two loving daughters, Cecilia Tracy and her husband Jack and Elsie Baca and her husband Rey, both of Los Lunas; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two and a half great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Hill of Gallup, NM. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephew's, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Romero Funeral Home at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. There will be another viewing held at San Clemente Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Los Lentes Cemetery. Culp -- Jean A. Culp, born April 4, 1926, in Bearden, Arkansas, passed away July 19, 2002. She is survived by; her five children, Dr. Charles H. Culp, III, and wife, Bonnie of College Station, TX; Marcia Haney and husband, Thomas Clifford W. Culp and wife, Gabriela, Robert E. Culp and wife, Laura, all of Albuquerque, and Melissa J. Burns of Houston, TX; 14 grandchildren, Michelle Bratton, Charles Culp IV, Patrick Haney, Megan Haney, Michaela Haney, Meredith Haney, Olivia Culp, Chris Culp, Nicholaus Culp, Sara Culp, Justin Culp, Michael Culp, Richard Burns, and Benjamin Burns; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Emily Nelle Mirise. She was an incredible mother and grandmother. She raised five children on her own and was one of the first women to attain the position of Chief of Mortgage Credit at HUD/FHA. She always lived her life full of love, kindness, and generosity. She was an avid gardener and was famous for her wonderful peaches, tomatoes, and mimosa trees. Her best times were spent out in her yard. She was a truly beautiful person. She will be missed greatly by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary on Coal, Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at 4:00 p.m.

Davenport -- Delbert E. 67, went to be with our Lord July 17, 2002. He was born October 5, 1934 in Reserve NM. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War 1950-1957. He was preceded in death by his wife Lena Davenport, daughter Tina Waldrep, grandchildren; Johnny Giroux, Tami Twyefort, brothers Jimmy and Richard. He is survived by Loretta Giroux and husband Jerry, Jerry Romero and wife Sylvia Daniel Romero, Lucia Davenport, Patricia Davenport, Janine Davenport, Lisa Davenport, Dede Davenport, Delbert Davenport Jr. and wife Mona Lisa , Dora Davenport; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Delphine Serna, Mary Lou Guttman, Linda Voight; brother Lonnie Davenport; numerous other nephews, nieces, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Edwards -- Doris Grissam, Doris Edwards, 77, passed away on July 17, 2002 in San Diego, California, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Edwards was a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years. Mrs. Edwards was born in Albuquerque on November 12, 1924 to M.L. (Mike) and Faye Grissam. She was a 1942 graduate of Albuquerque High School and was very active in several social organizations as a girl. She was a member of Job's Daughters and served as Grand Worthy Advisor of Rainbow for Girls in 1943. In 1944, she married Elmer E. Edwards and they settled in Albuquerque. For 25 years, Mrs. Edwards was a partner, with her husband and father, in Strongs Stationery and Office Supply in Albuquerque. After both her husband and father's deaths, Mrs. Edwards sold the store in 1969. In the ensuing years, while still in Albuquerque, she worked first for James-Thomas Construction and then Van Atta Laboratories. In 1980, Mrs. Edwards moved to California and then Colorado to be near her son. In 1988, Mrs. Edwards retired and moved to San Diego where she resided until her death. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband; father; mother; and brother, E. Essley Grissam. She is survived by her son, Mikel Edwards, San Diego; her daughter, Kathy Bute, Ponca City, OK; three granddaughters, Kristin, Tiffany and Amber; and one great-granddaughter, Trinity, all of Ponca City. Graveside Services for Mrs. Edwards will be held Tuesday, July 23, 11:00 a.m. at Sandia Memory Gardens. Mrs. Edwards will be interred next to her husband. Farquhar -- Cecil M. Farquhar, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Sunday, July 21, 2002. Gallegos -- Mrs. Dora Gallegos age 81 died Sunday. She is proceeded in death by her first grandchild, James Nieto; she is survived by her husband Alfredo M. Gallegos; daughters, Barbara Gutierrez of Abq., Charlette Michelback of Abq., Mona Gonzalez of Las Vegas, NV., and Dona Paniagua of Abq.; brothers, Juan Martinez, and Moises Chavez, both of Abq.; sisters, Annie Tafoya, and Lupe Trijillo both of Abq.; grandchildren, Rosalyn Torres, Richard Nieto, Patricia Gutierrez, Richard Michelback, Denise Medina, Rodney Armijo, Lawrence Michelback, and Pedro Paniagua all of Abq.; 18 great grandchildren all of Abq.; and 2 great great grandchildren both of Abq.; several nieces and nephews all of Abq. Hill -- Dr. Hamlin L. Hill, died in Los Alamos, New Mexico, on July 16, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Arlette; siblings, June and J.D. Roberts, and William J. Hill; children, Cynthia and Craig Pence, Scott and Robin Hill, Sondra Hill, Guillermo Lacona, William C. and Wendy Hill; and grandchildren, Joshua Hill, Jeremy Hill, Erik Altherr, Charles Pence, Kyle Altherr, Russell Hill, Daniel Altherr, and Lindsay Hill. Dr. Hill was born in Houston, Texas on November 7, 1931. He received a BA from the University of Houston, an MA from the University of Texas, and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His academic career spanned thirty-three years at the University of New Mexico, the University of Wyoming, the University of Chicago, and Texas A & M University. He chaired the University of New Mexico English Department from 1978 to 1986 and headed the Department of English at Texas A& M University from 1986 to 1989. At retirement, he held the Ralph R. Thomas Professorship of English, and a distinguished professorship of Liberal Arts at Texas A & M. His publications include: America's Humor from Poor Richard to Doonesbury, Mark Twain: God's Fool and numerous other books and scholarly articles. He lectured and taught all over the world. A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on July 27, 2002, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station, Texas. Hood -- James R. Hood, age 50, was born February 24, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio and died July 18,2002 in Denver, CO. He served in the Army from 1969 through 1975. He was highly decorated with the Bronze Star and other medals. Mr. Hood was preceded in death by; his father, Raymond W. Hood; maternal grandparents; and two uncles. James is survived by; his wife, margaret of La Junta, CO; daughter, Karen of LaJunta, CO; four step-children, Crystal, Omar, Jedd and Bubba of LaJunta; mother, Sarah Rautio and husband, Leonard of Socorro, NM; three sisters, mary Ryan of Denver, Susan hood of Albuquerque, and Barbara Fox and husband, Ray of Arlington, TX; one brother, George Hood and wife, Smantha of Bosque Farms, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Private memorial services will be at a later date.

Hopkins -- Kenneth R. (Kenn) Hopkins, 23, a resident of New Mexico passed away on Saturday July 20, 2002 as a result of a car accident and is now in heaven with God. Kenn is the beloved son to Dennis and Lita Hopkins. Kenn is also survived by two sisters, Terese Abeyta and husband Anthony and Michelle Hopkins; two brothers, Louis Hopkins, Dewayne Hopkins and wife Christy; nieces and nephews, Louis Raymond Trujillo, Louis Mark Romero, Joshua Abeyta, Naomi Abeyta, Christina Hopkins and Nicolas Hopkins; two aunts, Evelyn Olguin and husband Reggie, Annabelle Ruben and husband Michael; two uncles, Arthur Quintana and wife Margaret, Ronald Hopkins and wife Linda; his grandmother, Genevieve Olguin (Grama-Gen), many cousins and friends. Kenn is preceded in death by his sister, Laureen J. (Laurie) Hopkins; grandparents, Carl and Florence Hopkins, Catarino and Theresa Quintana. Kenn was a member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Lansdowne -- Mabel R. Lansdowne, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 21, 2002. She is survived by her son, John Lansdowne and his wife, Betty of Albuquerque; her grandson, DeAndre Lansdowne; her brother, Howard Hess of Denver, CO; her sister-in-law, Ethel Lansdowne of Tamarac, FL; her brother-in-law, Frank Lansdowne of Grand Prairie, TX; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald S. Lansdowne, in December 2000. Mabel was born in Union City, NJ on June 16, 1913 to Ruth and William Hess. For many years she worked in New York City and in New Jersey as a bookkeeper. While working for Sun Insurance Company in New York City, she met her husband, Reginald, and they married in 1939. While their early years together were interrupted by the war, they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. They moved to Albuquerque in 1993. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her. Malmquist -- Alice H. Malmquist, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on July 21, 2002. She was born on August 2, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to Sverre and Helga Nilsen. Alice was a very special woman, devoting most of her lifetime to volunteering for many organizations, particularly the Girl Scouts. She loved gardening and enjoyed taking care of her roses, was active in the ceramics club at Meadowlark Senior Center, and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho. Alice will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Al of Rio Rancho; daughter, Carol and husband Dan Grant of Rio Rancho; son, Roger Malmquist and his wife Rita of Butte, MT; sisters, Thelma Anderson of Westwood, NJ, Ruth and husband Rev. Nelson -- Kae Nelson, of Albuquerque, passed away on July 20, 2002. She was nearing her 71st birthday, having been born on July 28, 1931 in Duluth, MN. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold. They were married in Minneapolis, MN on June 23, 1951. She is also survived by four children: daughters Susan Nustad and her husband Rob of Owatonna, MN; Salli Nelson and her husband Bruce Donaldson of Chandler, AZ; Sandy Ilii and her husband Vince of Bloomington, MN; and by her son Jim Nelson and his wife Jo of Zhangjiakou, China. Kae is also survived by five grandchildren: Beth, Tim, Monica, Sammi Jo, and Nick. Kae and Harold were residents of Bloomington, MN for 32 years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1986, to Dallas in 1990, and back to Albuquerque in 2000. Kae had attended the University of Minnesota. She had worked as an office manager and bookkeeper. She was a devoted Christian with a strong Lutheran background. In Albuquerque, she and Harold were members of First United Methodist Church and its Two Som Sunday School class. Pecha -- Diana Estella Britton Pecha, 87, of Albuquerque, died July 20, 2002. She was born in Big Rapids, Michigan, May 30th, 1915. Diana had seven brothers. She was the only daughter of Ethel and John Q. Britton. Diana and her husband, Clifford Pecha, and children, Connie and James moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Diana was a professional artist. Her works won many awards and are in collections throughout the United States. She was a life member of the National League of Pen Women, Yucca Branch, and served as their chaplain. She studied art at the University of New Mexico. Her southwestern landscapes, portraits and still-life paintings are treasured by many. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Welty and husband, Rod of Rogers, Arkansas; son, James Pecha and wife, Sharon of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Rebekah Diane Welty-Ford of Garfield, Arkansas; four brothers, Donald Britton of Marquette, Michigan, Ronald Britton of Limestone, Michigan, Rev. Everett Britton of Bear, Delaware, and Clifford Stanley Britton of Marquette, Michigan. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Deacon Wayne Welty officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum. Ringeisen -- Fannie Lou Ringeisen (nanny), 94, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, born in Murrayville, GA. October 16,1907 passed away July 20, 2002. Resident of Albuquerque since 1943. She is preceded in death by husband Dale of 49 years. She is survived by her son, Jack Ringeisen and wife Carol of Radium Springs, NM; daughter Polly Cox and husband Leon of Tome, NM. She had 8 grandchildren, Dale Cox, Carrie Storms and husband Mike, Jerry Norris and wife Vivian, Robby Norris, Tammy Brandt and husband Chris, Brenda Ringeisen, Julie Carpenter and husband Kurt, Jack Dean Ringeisen and wife Melissa; and 18 great grandchildren. She was an accomplished musician in country and gospel music. She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball and fishing. She always had a smile on her face especially with her family. Robledo -- Robert Joseph"Robbie" Robledo, 18, passed peacefully in his sleep Monday, July 22, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Lola Neudecker and Frank Harding; stepbrother, Ryan Harding; grandparents, Lupe and Joseph Neudecker and Frank and Teresa Harding. He is also survived by his father, Robert O. Robledo, and the Robledo family of El Paso, Texas. He was loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends who cherish his memory and will miss him greatly. A 2002 Graduate of Albuquerque High School, Robbie enjoyed his family, his school, work and his co-workers, and his friends. He loved going to the movies and listening to music, he liked to swim, to ski, and his favorite Peanuts character was Snoopy. He had fun over the years at Camp Enchantment, the American Cancer Society's annual camp for children with cancer, and the family would like to thank their staff. Robbie participated in life, filling his with many happy experiences in the time he had. Salo -- Diane Levy, age 50, passed away peacefully of heart failure on July 18, 2002 at her home in Placitas with her loving husband, Mike Salo and her precious cockers, Sugar and Teddy, by her side. Diane was the program director of Sundance Technologies, LLC in Albuquerque at the time of her passing. She dedicated her professional life to helping those who struggled with special needs. Ms. Salo assisted those with multiple handicaps, which were home bound to use the latest computer technology to facilitate their daily lives. Diane, a devoted wife and loving daughter, used her gifted mind to assist those less fortunate than herself. Her loving spirit, keen wit, and joyous laughter touched those who were lucky enough to have know her. Diane graduated from Del Norte High School, Albuquerque, and Class of 1969. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972 from the University of New Mexico and completed her Masters Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1977. She was a special education teacher in New Mexico, Colorado, Los Angeles, and was the department chair at Orange Glen High School in Escondido, California for many years before relocating to Albuquerque in 1990. She worked briefly as a teacher for APS in Northeast Region Office and Manzano High School before founding a company, Sundance Technologies, with her dear friends Ronda and Phil Lepak. Their company was one of the firsts in the United States in delivering assistive technology to the home bound. Diane was proceeded in death by her mother, Deborah Jaslow Levy; her only sibling, Sheri Levy; and her mother, Clara Levy. Diane will be missed by her loving husband, Mike Salo; her devoted father, Dr. Jerome Levy; Rhonda and Phil Lepak; and her godson, Ryan Lepak. Diane leaves behind a bereaved circle of devoted friends, including her Kiva sisters. Diane gave us the greatest gift of all. She taught us how to love better. Fare thee well dear Diane, you who are at peace and in the light. we live with you spirit knowing that love never dies. Sheldon -- David Caleb Sheldon, was born on February 2, 1928 in Hancock, MI and died on Friday, July 19, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a devoted and loving father and friend who will be deeply missed. He is survived by, Grace Sheldon, his wife of 54 years, their sons David Churchill Sheldon and wife Cathy of Sandy, UT; Daniel Stuart Sheldon and wife Linda of Johnstown, CO; John Christopher Sheldon and wife Kathleen of Las Vegas, NV; and daughter Josephine Ann Jackson and husband Eric of Corona, CA. David was blessed with eleven grandchildren. Brittney, Brienne, Cameron, Amy, Matthew, Adam, Jessica, Zane, Luke, Nakeisha, and Danica. He is also survived by his sister Alice Sheldon of Albuquerque and his brother Tom and his wife Diane of Cedar Crest, NM. Also, by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Churchill G. and Josephine Coughlin Sheldon, his brother, Stephen Sheldon and his sisters, Eleanor Sheldon, Elizabeth Sheldon Maloney, Mary Sheldon Bentley, and Julianne Sheldon Sheehan. David moved with his family to Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 7. He served in the military during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Marketing. He retired from General Electric Corporation, Major Appliance Division, in 1988 after 33 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish since 1973 and was their Business Manager for 14 years. He was Intermountain Director for the National Ski Patrol; Ski Patrol Leader at Alta Ski Resort in Alta, UT; and Past President of Toastmasters International, in Pocatello, Idaho. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Blvd. Chapel. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Valencia -- Joseph Kevin Valencia, 51, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Thursday, July 18, 2002. He is survived by his sisters, Maureen Martinez and husband, Donald of Albuquerque and Sheila Montano and husband, Joe of Rio Rancho; brother, Michael Valencia and best friend, Donna White, both of Albuquerque; nephews and nieces, Mike and Monica Martinez, Maureen, Joseph and Brian Montano, and Thomas and Michael Valencia; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Margaret Valencia; and brother, Brian. Joseph graduated from Del Norte High School in 1969. He attended the University of New Mexico, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1974 and completed the masters program in Spanish. Joseph worked with Career Services for the Handicapped from 1982 to 1989 and with the Social Security Administration from 1989 until his retirement in 1997. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved all music, especially Jazz. Joseph also enjoyed playing chess, fishing and working on his computer, and was a student of history and politics. One of his favorite pastimes was strolling through the rose garden at Manzano del Sol, reveling in God's beauty and wonder. He defied the odds throughout his life, and never faced a challenge he couldn't overcome. His courage, strength and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him. He fought the good fight. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his family, friends and acquaintances. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Lovelace Medical Center and Manzano del Sol. Weaver -- Berdel W. Weaver, known to most all of his family and friends as"Weave", was born April 5, 1940 in Palmerton, PA, to the home of Marion L. Miller and Wayne C. Weaver. He died on Friday, July 19, 2002 in Lubbock, TX at the age of 62 years. Mr. Weaver grew up in Andreas, PA and graduated from Lehighton High School in Lehighton, PA in 1958. He went on to attend Penn State University and Muhlenburg College. Mr. Weaver married Reta Neal in Lehighton on November 11, 1967. He joined the Air Force in 1962 and began his military career as an electronics technician. By the time he retired in 1990, while serving in Berlin, Germany, he had reached the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, and was the Communications Electronics Superintendent in Berlin. During the 28 years that he served in the military, his duty stations included Viet Nam, the Aleutian Islands, a number of locations in the U.S. and several places in Germany, and most significantly Berlin. His time in Berlin was particularly significant, as he was stationed there during much of the actual construction of the early phases of the Berlin Wall, and was again present when the Wall was actually taken down. Mr. Weaver graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in 1981. He later attended the University of Alaska and earned a Master's Degree in 1988 from Troy State University in Alabama by attending classes while he was stationed in Europe. Senior Master Sergeant Weaver was assigned to Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis in 1980. He considered Portales his home for the remainder of his life. After his retirement in 1990, and his return to Portales, he went back to school and completed a second Bachelor's Degree in 1993 at Eastern New Mexico University. In addition to his studies, he busied himself by working with projects in Portales and the surrounding area sponsored by the Youth Conservation Commission. Throughout his life, he was a woodworker and had become very accomplished. He was a member of the General Roll of the United Methodist Church. Weave is survived by Reta Neal Weaver, his wife of many years of Portales; two sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Martha Weaver of Rio Rancho, and Scott and Sarah Weaver of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Maddison, Nicholaus and Joshua Weaver, and Ven and Matt Housten; one brother, Donald Weaver of Hatboro, PA; two sisters, Cindy Nothstein of Andreas, PA and Doris Sherman of Montoursville, PA. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, with the Reverend Gerry Lightwine, pastor officiating. Services will also be held at a later time in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
