Brock -- Stephen Lafayette Brock, 86, a longtime resident of Roy, New Mexico passed away on Friday, June 14, 2002. Steve was a former New Mexico State Senator and former President of the New Mexico Farm Bureau. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Brock of Alamogordo, Stephanie Brock and husband, David Lock and their children, Alicia and Zack of Wallace, Kansas; Bonnie Wood and husband, Charles and their children, Jessica and Laura of Huntsville, Alabama; and Georjean Brock and her daughter, Catherine Donnell of Albuquerque; his sisters, Edna Magee of Austin, Texas, Florence Welborn of Jerusalem, Israel, and Frances Swindle of Albuquerque; many loving nephews and nieces; and caregiver and neighbor, Lydia Smith of Roy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean; his sister, Mozelle Miller; and his brother, Jesse Oscar Brock. Steve was born on November 28, 1915 in Roby, Texas, to Lester and Hettie Brock. His family moved to a farm in Union, Texas by covered wagon when Steve was a child. His childhood adventures included being one of the first people to tour Carlsbad Caverns at a time when visitors were lowered into the cave by rope, carried kerosene lanterns for lighting, and were guided by the caverns' discoverer, a cowboy named Jim White. After graduating from high school, Steve enrolled at Texas Tech University. He worked in the school dairy for four years and roomed with George Tate, who served as the original"Red Raider" horseman at Tech football games. George remained a loyal and honorable lifelong friend to Steve. After graduating in 1937 with a degree in animal husbandry, Steve moved to Clayton, New Mexico to accept the position of assistant county agent for the Cooperative Extension Service (CES) in Union County. He later moved to Mosquero, New Mexico to accept a promotion as CES county agent for Harding County. These were years of hardship in the region due to the economic depression and Dust Bowl drought. Steve responded to these challenges by serving the people of the area with enthusiasm, good humor, and a vigorous work ethic that distinguished his entire life. Steve deeply admired the fortitude and strong character of the region's people. He established many friendships and especially appreciated pioneer settlers such as Hugh Mitchell, who was a good and supportive friend through the years. Although Steve was one of New Mexico's youngest county agents in one of the state's smallest counties, CES leaders recognized Steve's extraordinary dedication to excellence. In 1940, the CES appointed him State Livestock Specialist for the entire state, and he moved to Las Cruces. Immediately following America's entry in World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Steve graduated from officers' training school and was stationed in Britain. On June 6, 1944, he was in charge of four landing craft (LCT) that ferried troops to Normandy beaches during the D-Day invasion to liberate Europe. Over 40 years later, he visited the Normandy coast again with his nephew, Steve Magee, and clearly recalled the positions of the German guns that intensely fired at his LCTs during the assault. After D-Day, he was selected to enroll in the Naval War College at Princeton University to prepare for military government service in the Far East. He later served in Okinawa. Following the war, he returned to New Mexico where he entered into a ranching partnership with Luther Harland. Steve remained very grateful for Luther's assistance in helping him enter the ranching business. He loved livestock and land stewardship. His ranching experience later included nine years in Minneola, Kansas. Steve had many unique experiences during his life, including serving on the federal jury in Albuquerque, with Judge Carl O. Hatch presiding, that convicted high-ranking public officials of charges stemming from a famous murder investigation in Dona Ana County. Steve later served in the State Senate and as President of the New Mexico Farm Bureau, where he was a tireless advocate for his constituents. Throughout his life, Steve retained a keen interest in public affairs and learning. He especially enjoyed studying the lives of Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Robert E. Lee, all of whom he greatly admired. Steve was a Mason and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, serving three years as First Reader in the Dodge City, Kansas, church. Because Steve took a special interest in young people and recognized the importance of education in providing opportunities for happier lives, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory be made tot he Harding County 4-H, P.O. Casias -- Lawrence R. Casias, 36, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 16, 2002. Lawrence is the beloved son to Mrs. Rebecca (Timia) Gurule. He is also survived by one sister, Belinda Guevara and husband, Robert; two brothers, Gabriel Gurule and wife, Elena, Lewis Casias and wife, Tanya; his great-aunt, Mela Garcia; niece, Victoria Gurule; three nephews, Brian Gurule, Marcus Guevara and Lorenzo Guevara; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Richard Casias; and grandmother, Fidela Perea. Lawrence was a member of the Catholic Church. Dickerson -- Betty Jane Dickerson passed away on Friday, June 14, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Simpson Sr.; a brother, Alva Jr.; and two sisters, Barbara Simpson and Dorathy Howard. She was born in Faugache, CO, May 11, 1923. She graduated from Albuquerque High and attended UNM where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Betty Jane served in the Waves in World War II. She is survived by sisters, Mary Ruth Mayfield and Marjorie Dobyns; nephews, Rodger Howard, Brett Mayfield, Robby, Marty and Step Dobyns; and a niece, Elena Reeves. We wish to thank all the personnel at Santa Fe Care Center who were so wonderful to her and Holy Faith Church for giving her communion, bringing her flowers and children's posters, also the help from hospice. Foy -- Martha Jean Foy, 69, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM since 1972, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, June 15, 2002 after a long illness. She was born and raised in Brownton, WV and later graduated from Philippi High School in Philippi, WV. Martha completed her nurses training at Union Protestant Hospital in Clarksburg, WV and was a registered nurse for over 28 years. Martha practiced her profession in various US cities and overseas medical facilities, proudly accompanying her husband who served with the United States Air Force. In 1982, Martha decided to retire after ten years of faithful service in Albuquerque, NM, due to her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence W. and Mary Koziar Charlton. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Claude; two sons, Edward and his wife, Dara of Macon, GA, and Michael and his wife, Cheryl of Peralta, NM; her daughter, Pam Tenbroeck of Red River, NM; four grandsons, Michael Tenbroeck; Randall, Travis, and Hayden Foy; two granddaughters, Ashley and Simone Foy; two sisters, Beatrice Callison and Julia Ann Stewart; and three brothers, Bill, Carl, and Randal Charlton. Martha's dedication and compassion touched the lives of family, friends and patients across the world. She will be truly missed, never forgotten. Garcia -- Julian A. Garcia, 77, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 14, 2002. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Virginia in 1997. He is survived by his mother, Dulcinea Sanchez of Albuquerque; son, Rey Garcia, and wife Barbara of Lakewood, CA; daughter, Laura Gartling, and husband David, of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Michael-Rey, R. Harrison -- Cheryle Lynn Harrison, 40, loving mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2002. She was born in Orlando, FL and had lived in Albuquerque since 1969. She fought a hard battle, but our Lord called her home to fly with the angels. She was the devoted mother of three children whom she loved with all her heart. Cheryle was also the owner/director of Creative Kids Learning Center in Albuquerque for over ten years. She had a special gift for working with children and they adored her and she loved them. Cheryle shared with her family and all of her friends the love of ballooning and participated in chasing for many, many years. We will miss her dearly. Cheryle was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harrison. She is survived by her three children, Crystal, Stephen and Jeremy Harrison all of Albuquerque; she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Betty Harper both of Albuquerque; her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Joseph Lucero both of Albuquerque; her grandmother, Margaret Davis of Virginia; several aunts, uncles, cousins, one niece and four nephews. Linz -- Ann D. Linz, 82, an Albuquerque resident since 1979, was called home to the Lord, our Savior, on Friday, June 14, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Linz; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Henry Seckler. She is survived by her brother, Konrad Dettweiler and family of Heinrichsheim, Germany; and sister-in-law, Hannah Dettweiler and family of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Linz was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and an honorary lifetime member and past Treasurer of the Chaparral Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association. Mrs. Linz and her husband Adolph owned and operated Linz Autohaus Mercedes-Benz dealership in Ft. Wayne, IN, prior to their retirement and move to Albuquerque. Muriel -- Jeremias Juan Muriel, December 11, 1948 - June 12, 2002 went to be with his"Padrecito Lindo", early Father's Day morning after a long, gracious battle with cancer. He was a caring giving father, empathetic, generous, loving"little brother", devoted employee and caring friend to all who knew him. Juan is survived by his son, Juanito; daughter-in-law, Teresa; sister, Valentina and husband, David Cardona; brothers, Lorenzo and (Bobby) Paz Jr.; several nieces and nephews and their children. Juan was predeceased in death by his mother, Juanita; father, Paz Muriel; and brother, Joe Montoya. Blessings and thanks to all his friends who called him and visited him to let him know them cared during his illness. Juan returned to his hometown of San Antonio, NM. Juan reverenced his Lord and never gave up hope of being healed and we know he is now healed and resting with Him.

Ramirez -- Antonia P. Ramirez born in Leon GTO, Mexico on November 7, 1912 married Antonio Ramirez and was a loving mother of seven children. She immigrated to the United States in 1960. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to helping others, specifically caring for Arlene Arregoni, infant child of Al and Rena Arregoni, who subsequently passed away and Casa Angelica was established in her memory. Mrs. Ramirez was a member of the Sacred Heart League of San Jose Church. She was known for giving"La Bendicion" to all who knew her, friends and relatives would cherish her blessings. Mrs. Ramirez was very strong in her Catholic faith, her patron saint was San Martin De Porres. Every November for the last thirty five years Mrs. Ramirez hosted a celebration on his birthday, the yearly celebration grew from humble beginning's that started out as a Rosary with her family and continues as a celebration for the entire community. Her cooking was her pride and joy making sure no one left her house hungry. Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Ramirez, daughter Maria Ramirez, sons, Jose Luis Ramirez and Anthony"Tony" Ramirez, daughter-in-law, Estefannita H. Ramirez; and granddaughter, Monica Ramirez. Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her daughter of the home, Alicia and Javier Villegas; son, Vicente Ramirez; granddaughter, Martha and Gilbert Sanchez; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Paloma Blanca Nursing Home for the care and love shown to our beloved Mom and grandmother. A Rosay will be recited on Tuesday evening at San Jose Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning also at San Jose Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Scott -- Beverly J. Scott, 64, a resident of Placitas, New Mexico passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her life partner, Allan Samuels of Placitas, NM; daughters, Karen Scott of Friendswood, TX and Heather Scott of Houston, TX; sister, Patricia White of Puyallup, WA; mother, Velda Brown of Kent, WA; and by her beloved feline companions, Quincy and Rocky. Born in Pasco, Washington, Bev was a longtime resident of Seattle, Washington before moving to the Albuquerque area in 1995 to seek the sun. She received her psychology degree from the University of Washington in 1959, and taught mathematics for many years in the Seattle Public School District. Bev returned to school, earning a computer science degree from Seattle Pacific University in 1989. She went on to work as a systems analyst for several Seattle area companies including Boeing, Microsoft and Metro. After moving to Albuquerque, she held a position as software engineer at Honeywell. Bev carried her adventurous spirit with her with throughout her life. In the '60s and early '70s, she was often the only female race car driver competing in the Northwest Sport Car Club of America circuit. Defeat on the race track usually befell her male critics. At that time she also enjoyed downhill skiing before chair lifts were available (walking up the hill after each run), and mountaineering in the Pacific Northwest mountains before the invention of Gore-tex. She instilled the same determination and adventurous spirit in her daughters. Bev was an accomplished flutist and pianist, an active member of the Albuquerque Concert Band, and a former member of the Cornucopia Concert Band and the Everett Symphony Orchestra in the Seattle area. She particularly shined when playing the piccolo solo in Sousa's"Stars and Stripes Forever" march. An avid hiker and bird watcher, she was active with several organizations in the Albuquerque area including the New Mexico Mountain Club, Hawks Aloft, and the Central New Mexico Audubon Society. Despite the many challenges that life presented her, Bev's bright smile, rosy cheeks, youthful nature, and unending cheerfulness were irrepressible and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her friendly nature and willingness to listen drew many to her, and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Stright -- Leland Tab Stright, October 9, 1955 - June 14, 2002. Beloved son of Deacon Stright and Joan Dolk. Tab passed away late Friday from natural causes. He is survived by both of his parents; many brothers and sisters; their husbands and wives; many aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews all who will cherish his memory, his love and his life. Tab was a friend to all who met him. His generous spirit never judged another, his unconditional love, our greatest gift, the kind of love that comes without asking, wanting or needing. An unkind word was rarely spoken, soft temperament, patience abound. Tab laughed often and earned the appreciation of his friends and the affection from the children surrounding his life. His ever-present smile and sense of humor will be missed by us all. Stroud -- David A. Stroud, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 15, 2002. He is survived by his son, Asher Isaacs and fiancé, Jo of Abilene, TX; daughter, Claudine Mayhan and husband, Robert of Amarillo, TX; son, William Stroud of Albuquerque; daughter, Sandra Harpster and husband, Mike of Albuquerque; son, Sam Stroud and wife, Monica of Las Vegas, NM; daughter, Janet Harada and husband, Todd of Albuquerque; step son, Robert Teal of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Juanita, Chrissie and husband, Manuel, Matthew, Aaron, Tabitha, Chantel, Megan, Brittany, and Casie; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Stroud served in the Air Force during WWII as a Corporal. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Zaccaria -- Cosmo D. Zaccaria, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died on June 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Rose Zaccaria of the family home; daughter, Mary I. Iverson and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; son, Frank Michael Zaccaria Sr. and wife, Christine also of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Robert D. Iverson, Jr. of Albuquerque, Lori Jean Chavez of Las Vegas, Richard Dean Iverson and wife, Lurae of Albuquerque, Frank Aaron David Wilkerson and wife, Eden of Atlanta, GA, Steven Michael Wilkerson of Houston, TX, Debra Ann Ecton and husband, Brent of Albuquerque, Tony Francis Zaccaria and wife, Beth of San Diego, CA, Tina Marie Greenwood and husband, Michael of Albuquerque and Frank Michael Zaccaria, Jr. of Albuquerque; great grandchildren, Daphne Marie Iverson of Albuquerque, Michael Anthony Archuleta, Jennifer Marie Archuleta both of Las Vegas, NM, Matice Marie Iverson, Robert Dale Iverson III, Ryan Daniel Iverson all of Albuquerque, Frank Arrow Wilkerson of Moriarty, Paige Eden Wilkerson of Atlanta, GA, Joseph Jackson Wilkerson, Walter John Wilkerson and Elaine Marie Wilkerson all of Houston, TX, Jeremy Stephen St. Cyr, Valarie Ann St. Cyr, Patrick Dylan Ecton, Sarah Jean Ecton, Timothy Ross Ecton, Simon Murphy Ecton, Colby Michael Greenwood and Jacob Andrew Greenwood all of Albuquerque; great-great-grandchild, Jaime Misael Mendoza, Jr. of Albuquerque. Cosmo is also survived by his sister, Victoria Bertelli and sister, Michelina Minelli both of Pulsano, Italy. He is preceded in death by his, two brothers, Sylvester and Vittorio Zaccaria; and two sisters, Antoinetta Epifani and Adoloratta DiMaggio. Cosmo was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church for 40 years where he was also an usher. He migrated to the USA from Italy in 1929 at the age of 18 and in 1932 he married Rose Zaccaria. He opened a business in Rochester, NY �Acme Auto Repair.� Cosmo moved to Albuquerque in 1950. In 1953 he opened another business also named �Acme Auto Repair� and then retired in 1983. Mr. Zaccaria enjoyed classical, Italian and operatic music. He also enjoyed musical compositions done by his son, Frank Zaccaria Sr. and his grandson, Frank Zaccaria, Jr. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary � Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo del Norte) with Deacon Bob Lewis, reciting. Mass of Catholic Burial will take place on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE with Father Michael Cimino, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Pallbearers will be Frank Zaccaria Sr., Robert Iverson, Tony Zaccaria, Frank Zaccaria, Jr. Carl Alongi, and Wally Iverson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Cosmo's great-grandson, Michael Anthony Archuleta. French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW.
