Atencio -- Fred Atencio Jr. Died Monday, June 10, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 91. He was a World War II Veteran. He was also a member of the Albuquerque Philharmonic for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Fanny Atencio; five grandchildren, Rose Mary Maguire and husband, Brian, James Armijo, Teresa Vedral, Greg Armijo, Fernando Armijo; brother, Phillip Atencio and wife, Justine; sisters, Teresa Atencio, Grace Silva all from Albuquerque. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip E. Atencia Jr., James E. Armijo, Steve Vedral, Grag M. Armijo, Fernando M. Armijo, and Rudy P. Chavez. Blanchette -- Roger Blanchette passed away on June 5, 2002 in Hemet, CA, he was 67. Roger lived in Albuquerque from 1951-1982. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1956. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Angelina; three daughters, Dolores Vieane, Lucille Blanchette and Loretta Blanchette; one son, Mark; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Andrew and Paul. Funeral Services will be held in Riverside, CA at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, June 14, 2002 at 10:15 a.m. Cremation has taken place.

Burkett -- Dennis L. Burkett, 76, was called home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brownie; his son, Brent and wife, Pamela of Albuquerque; his grandson, Dennis and wife, Kendri of Olathe, KS; and granddaughter, Mary Beth and husband, Jarrod Cline of Albuquerque; brothers, Grover Burkett of Murray, KY and Robert Burkett of Fulgham, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Luceil Burkett; and sisters, Cassie Puckett and JoAnn Hutson. He graduated from Fulgham High School and was immediately conscripted in the US Army where he served with the 104th Infantry Timberwolves¯ in the European Theater during WWII. Dennis was in the Battle of the Bulge and received a purple heart for war injuries. On return to civilian life he was employed by Union Carbide at the Paducah Kentucky Gaseous Diffusion Plant and actively attended and served in the Salem Methodist Church before retiring to Florida and then moving to Albuquerque to be near his only child. He was a loyal employee of Sam's Club for over ten years. He will be remembered for his friendliness and loving-kindness. Dennis was a devoted husband and father instilling qualities of honesty, integrity and concern for his fellow man. His stature in Heaven is certain but he will be sorely missed by his friends and loved ones on earth. Friends may visit French Mortuary ¯ Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. Chavez -- Jose B. Chavez, age 75, and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque died June 10, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Gregoria Chavez of NM; daughters, Elvira Cadena of TX, Linda S. Montano and husband, Joseph of NM; son, Dickie Chavez and wife, Evelyn of NM; sister, Stella Smith and husband, Marvin of WY; grandchildren, Robert Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Christopher Chavez, Gabriel Cadena, Anthony Chavez, Joseph Montano IV and Gabrielle Montano; three great-grandchildren. Jose was a proud WWII Veteran devoted to his family and a Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed western songs and anything related to the west, Jose was a great storyteller. He retired from the VA hospital after 35 years of service and served as Presiding Judge for elections in the Bel-Air District for 20 years. Jose was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Guerrero -- John Guerrero, Sr. (Jack) was born February 7, 1919 and passed away Monday, June 10, 2002. Jack resided in Los Alamos and Jemez Springs for 30 plus years and spent his last years in Albuquerque. He never met a stranger. Jack was preceded in death by two sons, Sammy and Stephen Guerrero. Jack leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Edith (Becky) Guerrero; son, John Guerrero, Jr. and family of Ft. Henderson -- Robert W. Henderson, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Monday, June 10, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Berchie Henderson; sons, Robert T. Henderson and wife, Cindy and Dr. William G. Henderson and wife, Carol; grandsons, Randy Henderson and wife, Tawni, Scott Henderson and wife, Angel; granddaughters, Heather Briggs and husband, Chris, all of Albuquerque, Carolyn Constantine and husband, Paul of San Francisco, CA and Stephanie Henderson; grandson, Brian Henderson, both of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Henderson was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He retired from Sandia National Labs as a vice-president. Mr. Henderson was one of the pioneers in nuclear weapons development starting in Los Alamos in 1944. Jones -- Isabel Garland Jones, 84, born to Thomas and Louise Creighton on November 15, 1917 in South Charleston, West Virginia, went to be with her Lord on June 11, 2002. Isabel is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilbert A. Jones. She was a Godly, Christian woman and loving mother of four children, Jimmy Jones and his wife, Laurann, Carolyn Purkiss and her beloved husband, Guy, already with the Lord, Perry Jones and his wife, Sherrie, and Pat Fishburn and her husband, Bill. She has seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Isabel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona where she belonged to the Lady's Club, taught vacation Bible school, and worked at the local church camp. She and Wilbert moved to Albuquerque in 1961 and were members of Monzano Baptist Church. They have lived in the Edgewood area for over 23 years. Wilbert and Isabel are members of the First Baptist Church of Edgewood where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday June 14, 2002.

Kniffin -- Nathan J. Kniffin, 67, a resident of Los Lunas passed away on June 8, 2002. Mr. Kniffin is the beloved husband of 27 years to Mrs. Rosarito Kniffin. Mr. Kniffin is also survived by four children, Lori Kilbourne and husband, Michael, Vincent Kniffin, Claudia Leverenz and husband, Robert and Carla Kniffin; one sister, Jane Heinecke-Hammerstrom and husband, Roland; and one grandson, Devin Leverenz. Mr. Kniffin was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. A Rosary was recited Wednesday evening at the Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 2150 Raymac SW at 7:00 p.m. by Jaime and Anna Villegas. Lopez -- Martina C. Lopez, a resident of Albuquerque went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2002. Martina was born in Veguita, NM on April 11, 1939. She had worked as a housekeeper for the VA Hospital for over 30 years. Martina was known for her incredible cooking and she enjoyed pleasing her family with her creations. She loved gardening, was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church and will be fondly remembered for her kindness towards others. Markham -- William"Bill" Dean Markham was born in Osage, IA to Glenn and Shirley Markham on Monday, December 18, 1939. He schooled and farmed until he joined the US Air Force at age 18 where he was a communications specialist for 8 years. During his enlistment he met and married his wife of 40 years, Elaine"Dolly", whom he will watch over until they are together again. Sons, Chris and Craig, were born while Bill was in the Air Force. Following an honorable discharge from the USAF, Bill worked for ROHR industries in Riverside, CA as a Metallurgical Inspector. Daughter, Keri, was born in the California sun. He joined the US State Department in 1976 as a Foreign Service Career Communications Specialist and took his family on the adventure of a lifetime. The family was posted to Nairobi, Kenya; Brussels, Belgium; Cairo, Egypt and the Washington D.C. metro area. Bill retired from the State Department with 22 years of Federal Government service. After retirement, he took a position with JAYCOR in Albuquerque, NM in 1990. Nobody outside his job knew what the hell he did-but he sure loved it and the people he worked with. Bill loved boating and fishing with the kids...or not; cruises and dancing, anytime, anywhere with Dolly; playing Poker with great friends from work; trips to Iowa and Minnesota to visit with family; big bazungas; good laughs, good fun and good company. He enjoyed playing Hearts with work buddies during the noon hour until the IT people took it off all the computers. Not to be outdone, they played the old-fashioned way with decks of cards. Most of all he loved teasing Dolly just to hear her special laugh, and the words she could butcher with her Massachusetts accent. Norris -- E. Lee Norris, 70, of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 8, 2002. O'malley -- Patricia M. Seitzer O'Malley, age 59, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at her home in Albuquerque. Funeral Services are Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, MN with the Reverend Harry Behan officiating. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter, MN. Patty was born March 2, 1943 in St. Peter to James and Marie (Pollack) Seitzer. She attended John Ireland School and St. Peter High School, graduating in 1961. Patty was united in marriage to John T."Marty" O'Malley on May 2, 1964 in St. Peter, MN. During their years of marriage, the O'Malleys lived in Milwaukee, WI, Rochester, MN, Eau Claire, WI, Minneapolis, MN, and Chippewa Falls, WI before finally settling in Albuquerque with their family. During this time, Patty established herself as an entrepreneurial Realtor in the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls area and busy mother and wife to her children and husband. Recently, Patty had undertaken the responsibilities of being Prudential's Relocation Director for the states of Arizona and New Mexico where she quadrupled the sales with half of the normal staff. Throughout her life, Patty found great pleasure in the character exhibited by her children and their families and spent all of her free time enjoying their company. Patty is survived by her husband, John; son, Jay of Albuquerque, Christopher and his wife, Stacey and granddaughter, Claire Erin of Albuquerque, son, Jeffrey and his wife, Jennifer and grandson, Harrison and granddaughter, Haley of Albuquerque; her parents, James and Marie Seitzer of St. Peter, MN; brothers, Robert Seitzer of Overland Park, KS, Dennis Seitzer of Highland Village, TX, James Seitzer of Burnsville, MN, Donald Seitzer of Silverthorn, CO; sisters, Kathleen Seitzer Bloom of Lake Washington, Mary Susan Seitzer Simota of Montgomery, MN and Julianne Seitzer McNeil of Burnsville, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. Rice -- Louis Rice, 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away June 6, 2002. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, was a navigator in World War II, and following his military service, had a career in accounting, with his brother, running Rice & Rice Accounting, for 30 years. He spent the last 12 years at Los Volcanes Senior Center, active in the Advisory Council and also served as Vice President. He is survived by four children, Thom, Luanne, Carol and Arlene; many grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. Sanchez -- Joshua A. Sanchez (Dietrich), born September 11, 1982, died on June 9, 2002. Sanders -- Dorothy Sanders, 77, loving wife and mother, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002. Born in Oklahoma on July 28, 1924, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bessie Fisher; and husband, B. Gene Sanders. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Grigg and husband, Ed Schultz of Cedar Crest; nieces, Kathy Coffee and husband, Jimmy and their daughter, Karri Babb and Vickie Lewis and her sons, Sean, Dean and Aaron; brother, Joe Sanders; numerous other family members; and friends. Dorothy was a blessing to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Singletary -- Charles Singletary, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Viola Singletary of Albuquerque; children, Walter Singletary and wife, Carol of Ruidoso, NM, Linda Baca and husband, Jim of Albuquerque, and Charles Stanford and wife, Deanna of Oregon; grandchildren, Michael, Bonnie, Kevin, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Logan. Mr. Singletary was a member of Masonic Lodge, Temple 6, and was past president of the Shrine Chanters. He was also past president of the Civilian Conservation Corps-New Mexico. Weaver -- Kenneth P. Weaver, MSW, passed away Monday, June 10, 2002, in Albuquerque, of complications of polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Mr. Weaver loved his family deeply and fiercely. He believed in the essential worth of all human beings and spent nearly 50 years as a social worker and clinical therapist. He was instrumental in developing innovative human services programs in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area in the 60's and 70's. In the 80's, he opened a clinical therapy practice in Wheaton, IL, and continued practicing after moving to Albuquerque in 1994. Last year, he helped his wife and daughters launch a joint business venture, Dynamic Growth Strategies, Inc., and was their biggest supporter. Born in Liberty, OH, Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, JoAnne (Gowdy) Weaver; daughters, Deborah Weaver Parker and Denise Weaver Ross; grandchildren, Claire M. Parker Harston, Sarah N.K. Parker, C. Alexander Ross II, and Nicholas K. Ross; son-in-law, Thomas M. Parker; and siblings, Paul Weaver, Esther Rose, Bert and Dot Weaver, Bernice Neuman, Betty Jane Zechar, Harrison and Tomme Ann Weaver, Florence Lowrey, Ralph and Hannah Weaver, and Sue (Goldie) and Bob Hallencamp. He is mourned as well by Mrs. Weaver's siblings, Kenneth and Shirley Gowdy, Judy and Orland Abel, John and Shirley Gowdy and Kathe and Donovan Kramer; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie and Elsa (Paul) Weaver; and son-in-law, Colin Alexander Ross I. Cremation has taken place and a committal service will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the Rose Garden, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Wedemeyer -- Myrtle Irene Wedemeyer, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2002. She is survived by her son, Eugene Wedemeyer; daughter, Imogene Minish, both of Albuquerque; sister, Reatha Snapp of Stover, MO; four grandchildren, Connie Crouse, Brenda Pentecost, William L. Wedemeyer and Pamela McConnell, of Hackett, AK; six great-grandchildren, William M. Wedemeyer, Kim Hill, Audra Wedemeyer, Aaron Wedemeyer, Nathan Crouse, and Stacey Crouse; one great-great-grandchild, Erin Hill; and many nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, William Wedemeyer in 1967; and by six of her brothers and sisters. She was born in Batesville, Arkansas in 1907. Before her health failed, she was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years, participated in the Noon Day Ministry and made quilts for the homeless. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Fred Gurule officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be William Louis Wedemeyer, Dave Crouse, Nathan Crouse, Aaron Wedemeyer, William Michael Wedemeyer and Dan Hill.
