Armijo -- Mrs. Celia (Maria) G. Armijo, 96, a resident of Albuquerque born May 15, 1905 in Santa Rosa, N.M. (Los Tanos), passed away peacefully in her home in the arms of her loving family on April 29, 2002. Mrs. Armijo is preceded in death by her son, Marshall Armijo. Mrs. Armijo is the beloved wife of 78 years to Joe A. Armijo. She is also survived by her son, Joe O. Armijo and wife, MaryLou of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren, Darlene and husband, John Stapleton, Dorothy and husband, Butch McCoy, Diane and Daniel Willis, J.D. and wife, Eleanor Armijo, Martin and wife, Renee Armijo, Roberta Carroll and husband, Dennis, Laura Juarez and husband, Richard, Susan Bostic and husband, Gene, Anita Garcia and husband, Ralph, Victoria Cordova and husband Bill, RoseAnne Gallegos and husband, David, Christy Porter, John Marshall Armijo, Mike Armijo and wife, Cindy; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Armijo began teaching school at the age of 18 in a one room school house in Anton Chico, N.M. Mrs. Armijo graduated from St. Joseph College (Univ. of Albuquerque) She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Altar Society since 1953. Mrs. Armijo and her husband Joe, moved to Albuquerque in 1937 where she continued teaching for A.P.S. for 38 years. During World War II, she moved her family to Long Beach, Ca. where she worked at Douglas Aircraft Plant. They returned to Albuquerque after the war ended. A visitation for Mrs. Armijo will be Wednesday evening after 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. N.W. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., by Darlene Stapleton and Susan Bostic. A final viewing will be Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Gene Gries. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, John Stapleton, Butch McCoy, Daniel Willis, J.D. Baca -- Bennie Baca, 83, a resident of Estancia, NM went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2002. He was born on March 21, 1919 in Santa Fe, NM. He is survived by his lovely wife, Marie P. Baca of 60 years; his daughter, Diane Cota and husband, Eloy Cota of Albuquerque; his sons, Don Baca and wife, Cecilia A. Baca of Estancia, Dennis Baca and wife, Elaine Baca of Valley Springs, CA; his grandchildren, Martin and Danae Cota, Garrentt, Erin, Kolt Baca, and Buck Baca and Jamie Baca-Behm; great-grandchildren, Justin Baca and Dacey Behm; sister, Sally Ortiz of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Rita Baca of Pacifica, CA; brother-in-law, Joey Ortiz of Edgewood, NM; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Baca y Zamora; brothers, Freddie, Tony, Jose Baca; sisters, Querina Baca and Tesse Ortiz. Bennie was a member of the Estancia Catholic Church, a member of the Scared Heart League. He was a Golden Glove Champion in the 1930's, a member of the National Guard in the 1930's. Papa enjoyed horseback riding, farming, raising vegetables for sale up until 2000. He was the founder of"El Cid Stucco" finally putting his plastering tools to rest when he was in his 70's. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. His generosity, his ornery wit, and the way he wore his hat or caps at a slant on his head, his unconditional love for life and his family will remain in our hearts forever. Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 29, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Saint Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Estancia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Cota, Garrentt Baca, Kolt Baca, Steven Ortiz, Johnny Gomez, Eloy Cota. Balch -- Lewis Balch, 88, a 38 year resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 28, 2002 with his family at his bedside. He was born in Wenatchee, Washington of a pioneering farming family. After working as a teacher and a rancher, he became a machinist and remained in that occupation for over 40 years. He married Juliet Whitaker in 1938, a marriage of 60 years that shall last into eternity. Juliet preceded Lewis in death in 1998. He is survived by his sons, John Balch and wife, Beth; William Balch and wife, Kathleen; Thomas Balch and wife, Julie;Russell Balch; and Richard Balch; daughters, Mary Louise Smith and husband, Alan and Ann Balch; nine grandchildren; and other family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW on Wednesday, May 1,2002 at 10:00 a.m. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. Broyles -- Ruby Juanita Broyles, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, died Saturday, April 27, 2002. She is survived by her brother, William S. McElvaney; nieces, Carol Skaggs and Susan Davis, all of Albuquerque; brother, James Allen McElvaney and wife, Billie of Hobbs; nieces, Naomi Jordan of Hobbs and Ann Smith of Odessa, TX; nephews, Bob McElvaney of Hobbs and Frank McElvaney of Odessa, TX; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Anderson McElvaney and Cordelia Texas Hunt McElvaney; her brother, Malcolm W. McElvaney; her 1st husband, Herbert L. Gunter; her 2nd husband, J. Curtis Broyles; and her nephew, James McElvaney. Cordova -- Manuel Cordova, 52, a resident of Albuquerque and a former resident of Logan, NM, devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; daughter, Andrea; son, Armando; parents, Emma and Alfredo Cordova; brothers, Arturo and wife, Sandra of Seattle; Jose and wife, Ida of Albuquerque; Theodore and wife, Evelyn of Loving; Ernest and wife, Valerie of Portales; John and wife, Dora of Las Cruces; and sisters, Angie and Wayne Jackson of Porter and Christina Whitfield of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Natividad Cordova. Cummings -- Mary K. Williams-Cummings, 66, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband of nine months, Verlin D. Cummings of Albuquerque; daughters, Terry Sue Torrison and husband, William of Las Cruces and Kaye Willliams-Knapp and husband, John of Albuquerque; sons, Ronald Williams and wife, Jane and Robert Williams and wife, Rebecca, all of Richmond, VA; stepson, Verlin D. Cummings, Jr., of Albuquerque; brother, Rev. Ralph Dale and wife, Ellen of Gastonia, NC; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many relatives and special friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years, Richard A. Williams; and brother, Lloyd A. Dale. Darnell -- Maggie Darnell, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1996, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Patty Kroeker of Albuquerque and Billie Mills and husband, Leon of Wichita, KS; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Carvalho of Hemit, CA and Faye Urbanek and husband, Jessie of Fresno, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Evanoff -- Muriel Evanoff, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. She is survived by her sons, Capt. John D. Evanoff II, USN, his wife, Carolyn; and Mark Evanoff; daughter, Mary C. Pease; nine grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Cmdr. John D. Evanoff, USN. Muriel was born January 2, 1923 in New York and married John D. Evanoff on March 15, 1944. She was a member of the Golden Agers, Anchors, and longtime member of Gold Star Wives-Zia Chapter, and Kirtland Widows-Irma Chapter. Muriel was an avid bridge player, active in many tournaments and clubs. A recent resident of the Woodmark at Uptown, Muriel touched the lives of many in the brief time she lived there. Our mom was petite in stature; a giant in heart and spirit; an eternal optimist who gave unselfishly to others in need. Fernandez -- Roger J. Fernandez, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Julia Fernandez. Trujillo -- Arthur C. Trujillo, loving husband and father, passed away on April 24, 2002. He is survived by Trina Trujillo, his wife of 51 years; his daughters, Kathryn D. Trujillo, Deborah E. Flores and her husband, John L. Flores; his son, Anthony A. Trujillo; brothers, Lambert C."Bindy" Trujillo and wife, Josie of Las Cruces, NM, Phillip C."Pito" Trujillo and wife, Frances of Valinda, CA; his sister, Estella Jean Chavez and her husband, George of Whittier, CA; his granddaughter, Bree Rauck; and great-grandchildren, Dominick and Rhyan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamberto P and Margarita C Trujillo and brother, Alfredo C. Trujillo. He was born November 23, 1925 in Las Cruces. He served his country overseas in the US Army in the Company B 97th Single Battalion and the 188th Fighter Squadron Air National Guard. He earned medals for European Middle Eastern Occupation Europe, Good Conduct and Victory. He graduated from the Los Angeles City College with a BA in Business. After living in California a number of years, he and Trina returned to Albuquerque where he lived with and near his family for the remainder of his life. He was involved in many community affairs such as the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the Association of Savings and Loans (ASLA). His kindness and gentleness will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. and a Mass on Monday, April 29, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church. Wilkerson -- RONALD DEAN WILKERSON, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, April 28, 2002. He was born in Roswell, NM on November 13, 1928. Ron graduated from Roswell High where he met his future wife, Goldie Lee Burchett. He attended Abilene Christian University majoring in Greek and Theology. He also attended the University in Tucson Arizona and Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. Ron was a full time minister for the Church Of Christ for twenty five years. After retiring from the ministry, Ron worked in construction, estimating and managing his own company Award Builders. He continued preaching on a part-time basis wherever there was a need. In his latter years he worked at CSI as a printer computer operator. For twenty five years, Ron was a member of Western band, the"Rockin W Wranglers". He played the bass, the harmonica, and sang. Music was always an integral part of his life from his early childhood. Ron was also a member of the Optimist Club for many years. Ron is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Goldie Lee, who was his high school sweetheart; son, Don Wilkerson and wife, Laurel of Bosque Farms and Mark Wilkerson and wife, Vicki of Rio Rancho; daughter, Sherry Allen and husband, Rob of Albuquerque; grandsons, Shane Wilkerson, Clint Wilkerson and wife, Klyrisa of Eglin AFB, Florida, Jason and Jeremi NIchols, Daniel and Hugh Wilkerson; granddaughters, Dixie Lee Thomas and husband, Grant, Stacy Wilkerson, Jessica and Jennifer Nichols and two great-granddaughters, Delaney Thomas and Haley Wilkerson; brothers, Jack Wilkerson and wife, Sioux of Roswell, Bob Wilkerson of Honduras, Burl Wilkerson and wife, Jo of Houston, TX. and twin brother, Don of California; sister-in-law, Clara Wilkerson of Roswell and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Ernest Wilkerson and Maartha Elkins Wilkerson; brother, Ernest Wilkerson; and sisters, Helen Coble, Ernell Herring and Martha Belle Lemmons. Funeral services will be held at The Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Wednesday, May 1st, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Minister John Phillis of Northeast Church Of Christ officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park immediately following. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aprill 30, 2002 at Sandia Funeral Care from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be: Shane and Clint Wilkerson, Jason and Jeremy Nichols, Daniel and Hugh Wilkerson and Howard Burchett. Honorary pallbearers are: Nolan Craig, Ennis Walker, Wayne Hatley and Vicente Saucedo.
