Armijo -- Stephanie Marie Armijo, beloved mother, daughter and sister, went home to her Lord on March 9, 2002. Stephanie was born on September 4, 1956 in Long Beach, CA to Ramon and Eleanore Zuniga Armijo. She had worked as a department manager for Target Stores, was a member of the Catholic faith, and her family were very precious to her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Stephanie was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eleanore; and her sister, Rita Gandara. She is survived by her father, Ramon and wife, Sharon of Rio Rancho; grandmother, Sally Armijo of Rio Rancho; son, Leonard Armijo of Albuquerque; daughter, Selena Armijo of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Angelmarie and Esperanza Armijo, Briana Hernandez; brothers, Ramon, Tyrone, Guy, Mike and Joey Armijo, Steve Lawrence, Ron Lozano, Danny Lopez; sisters, Lori Zapian and Raelena Armijo; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Bahr -- Paul Frederick Bahr, 81, a former longtime Albuquerque resident, died Monday, March 11, 2002 in Scottsdale, AZ. He is survived by a son, Randall Bahr and wife, Rebecca; granddaughter, Naomi Pier, all of Scottsdale, AZ. His wife, Georgia Bahr, preceded him in death in 1987. Mr. Bahr lived in Albuquerque from 1953 until moving to Scottsdale four years ago. Mr. Bahr was retired from Sandia Labs in 1986 after 33 years service. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles officiating. Bedeaux -- Emma Joan Bedeaux, a 20 year resident of Rio Rancho, NM passed away March 11, 2002. She was born in Amsterdam, September 22, 1908 to Cornelis Bedeaux and Johanna W. Vanderhaak. She is survived by her sister, Cornelia Bedeaux Knapp (Carrie) of Rio Rancho; nephews, Jan Roeleveld and his wife, Joan, Cees Roeleveld and his wife, Irene; niece, Emma Bulterman from the Netherlands; and many cousins and friends. Joan spent the last two years at Sandia Springs Assisted Living Facility. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff for their care and for giving her the feeling of security while living there. Before coming to New Mexico, she lived in the New York City area and in New Jersey. She studied accounting at a local college and worked as an accountant/ bookkeeper for several steamship companies at Rotterdam Lloyd and Holland American Lines from which she retired after 25 years of employment. Ms. Bedeaux was an avid artist with pastels, sketches, oils and received many awards for her work. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul's United Church, 2701 The America Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has occurred and her cremated remains will be interred at Vista Verde Memorial Park in the Rose Garden. Bennett -- Priscilla "Pat" Bennett, 62, a 31-year resident of Albuquerque, died at home, Tuesday, March 12, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Arthur Bennett; son, Paul Bennett and wife, Taunya of Albuquerque; daughter, Casey Pendlay and husband, Albert of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Pendlay; brother, Thomas Baker and wife, Pat of Anaheim, CA; and sister, Loretta Lee of Hermiston, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sally Patino and one brother, Anthony Patino. Priscilla retired from APS after 21 years of service. Her strength grew in her later years as she found Christ and became a strong believer in Him. This was a faith that she shared with her family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Paul Scozvafava officiating. Blea -- Victor F. Blea, born August 9, 1941, in San Francisco, CA passed away on March 11, 2002 peacefully at home after a long, courageous and stoic battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Marty; two daughters, Shirley Ann Blea of Everett, Wendy F. Blea Davies and son-in-law, Thomas O. Davies of Everett. He also leaves his pride and joy, Florence Elizabeth Blea-Davies, granddaughter. Vic graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque and completed one year at the University of New Mexico, finally serving an apprenticeship at Local Union 412, Plumbers and Steamfitters. He became the number one apprentice in the state of New Mexico in 1964. In 1966, he moved his family to Washington becoming a member of Local Union #32 in Seattle. This was the first of many moves throughout the U.S. He loved his trade and was a true craftsman. His other love was baseball, having housed minor league players for Everett Giants and Aquasox. Many of his "boys" are in the majors today. He ensured each had a wonderful minor league experience, receiving photos of themselves that Vic took in a professional manner. Vic was preceded in death by his mother, Adele M. Blea; and son, Victor F. Blea II. He is also survived by other family including his father, Juan A. Blea; brother, Ricky Blea; sister, Patsy Garcia all of New Mexico. He will also be missed by Sherry and Jesse Rios, David C. DeBaca; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Fink, a true friend, Linda and Tito Baca for always being there. We will miss you. ASAP. Blevins -- Frances Blevins, 71, our beloved mother, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2002. She is survived by her children, Steve Blevins and wife, Kay, Lyle Blevins, John Kent Blevins; and daughter, Janet Reed and husband, Bobby; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Farries and husband, John of Hartley, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Blevins. Besides raising her children, she spent her adult life doing what she loved most, teaching people from the Bible about God's Kingdom and how it will be the solution to all of mankind's problems. [Psalms 37:10,11] She believed in the resurrection and the earthly hope it will offer in the future. So until that time, we have our wonderful memories of her that will help us get through this sad time. Cassel -- Virginia Cunningham Cassel, 88, of Wichita, KS, author of "Juniata Valley", died Saturday, February 23, 2002. Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the Fairmount United Church of Christ at 16th and Fairmount. Raised in Lansdale, PA, Ms. Cassel was an artist, a novelist, and a civil servant with the US Office of Education bilingual and Indian education programs in Washington, DC. In her 40s, she was a social worker in New York City, moving to DC to teach in the pilot Head Start Program. She attended Goucher and Beaver Colleges, graduated from Case Western Reserve, and earned her MA from the University of New Mexico. Widely traveled, her first experience was in 1939 living in Geneva, Switzerland. Single most of her life, and drawn to Japanese Buddhism while living in Washington, DC, in her 60's she studied Greek and began writing novels. She retired to Albuquerque living in Four Hills, painting and teaching creative writing into her mid-80's eventually moving from the Grand Court of Albuquerque to Wichita, KS in May of 2001. Survivors include her children, Dr. Gretchen Cassel Eick of Wichita, KS and Dr. David Cassel of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Alyson (Eick) Shaw of Northampton, MA; Kendra Eick of Wichita, KS, Kristen and Erin Cassel of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Kara Eick and Ivan Bocobo of Wichita. Eby -- Herbert Arthur Eby, age 94, died March 12, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born and grew up in Rochester, NY, where he graduated from the University of Rochester. He worked as a high school English teacher, where he met and married his wife, Eleanor Buskey. During the war he worked at Bell Aircraft and afterwards at Eastman Kodak. He retired from Kodak in 1973. He and Eleanor moved to NM in 1976. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and a kind and gentle man. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Eby of NM; sons, Phil Eby and wife, Mary of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Ron Eby and wife, Ronna-Rae Leonard of Courtenay, BC; sister, Marion Dean of NY; grandchildren, Andrea Billingsley of BC. Foster -- Verlyn Lloyd Foster, 57, a resident of Meadow Lake, NM, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Velma Foster; and two brothers, Mervin and Norman. He is survived by his three children, Verlyn W. and his wife, Garri of Meadow Lake, Tammy Foster of Monroe, Oregon, and Charles also of Oregon; his two grandchildren, Brandon and Ashlee of Los Lunas; his brothers, Ronnie and Larry of Nevada, Leroy of Arizona, Leland and Lauren; and his sister, Maxine also of Arizona. Goodner -- John Henry Goodner, Jr., 76, born June 19, 1925, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry, Sr.; mother, May; stepmother, Rose; and brother, Roy. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wanita M. (Bruce) Goodner; his sister, Mary Ellen Ham of Los Fresnos, TX; sister-in-law, Oneita Goodner of Stillwater, OK; sons, Steve of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark and his wife Melanie of Stillwater, OK, Michael and his wife Mari and Jeff and his wife Debbie, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Rebecca Sexton of The Dalles, OR, Elizabeth Goodner and Loretta Olson and her husband Joel, all of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict; the Oklahoma National Guard; and the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era. John received a Presidential Unit Citation for Combat Action on Saipan and Tinian Islands during WWII. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Blake and the staff of the V.A. and St. Joseph Hospitals for their compassion and care during this difficult time. Hembree -- Polly Hembree, 80, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Hodges of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Cathy Stevenson of Katie, TX; great nieces, Lisa A. Jones of Monticello, GA, and Lara M. Clark of Griffin, GA; great-great-nephews, Jerrod Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, and Colby Clark; and great-great niece, Jody Kaitlyn Clark. Ms. Hembree was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; and niece, Jody K. Helms. Polly was born in Durmright, OK to George Gresham and Mamie Burkett on April 22, 1921. Polly received a business degree from Tulsa Business College in Tulsa, OK. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in January 1942 and began a career with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, transferring to Albuquerque in November, 1942, and retiring in 1976. Kirkbride -- Christopher Kirkbride, 20, a resident of Moriarty, died Monday, March 11, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Carl and Susan Kirkbride of Moriarty; brothers, Carl "Arty" Kirkbride, Jason Kirkbride, and Shawn Kirkbride, all of Moriarty; sister, Angelica Kirkbride of Moriarty; and many relatives and friends. Christopher was born in Albuquerque and raised in Moriarty. He loved cooking and spent the past two years working as a chef. His church was a very important part of his life. He was a very devout Christian. Christopher was a very happy person who spread his cheer to everyone he came in contact with. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Larrazolo -- Eva Montes died peacefully at home on March 11, 2002 surrounded by family and loved ones. Mrs. Larrazolo was the wife of the late Honorable Paul F. Larrazolo. She is survived by her daughter, Francina Marie Larrazolo; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Larrazolo was born November 2, 1913 in El Paso, TX. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, a member of The University of New Mexico Board of Regents at the Socorro campus, and an ex-oficio member of the Pan-American Round Table Number One. The body of Mrs. Larrazolo will lie in state Thursday, March 14, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 15, 2002 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery with Ralph Sulpizio, Ron Sulpizio, Lyle Trusty, Robert Castillo, Gilbert Luna and Richard Rowe serving as Pallbearers. Mccarty -- Helen B. McCarty passed away quietly Friday morning, March 8, 2002 in her beloved home. Helen was born in Pratt, KS on November 16, 1902. She was a graduate of Swarthmore College and received her nurse's training at Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. Helen arrived in Albuquerque with her husband, Joseph C. McCarty, MD in the fall of 1952. Helen was an active member of the community and a longtime member of the League of Women voters. Helen was very concerned about our environment. She diligently practiced conservation in her own life and encouraged those around her to do the same. Moore -- Matthew "Matt" Moore, 15, a resident of Albuquerque, died, Saturday, March 9, 2002. Pergola -- 1961-2002. Kenneth D. Pergola, 41, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2002. Ken was a member of the Valencia Valley Church of the Nazarene. Ken had a passion for motorcycles, and was a motorcycle brother to many. Ken also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Romero -- Amado Romero, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ofelia; and his children, Mark, James and wife, Doris Romero, Maria, Leonard, Helen and husband, Michael Johnsen, David, Patrick, Leo, Ann Margaret and husband, Mark Bieri, John and wife, Abigail Romero; his grandchildren, Thomas and David Facey, Aaron, Megan and Steven Romero, David and Jonathan Johnsen, Noah, Joshua and Adam Romero, and Katie Bieri; his sister, Vivian Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Amado was a native of Albuquerque from the Old Town area. He was a highly-decorated WWII veteran, captured by the Japanese on Corregidor in 1941 and held captive until the end of the war. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by those of us that he left behind. Scott -- March 10, 2002. Frances W. Scott, our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend went to be with our Lord Jesus. Frances was born in Albuquerque on March 28, 1938 to Ernest and Babe Brown formally of Albuquerque now of Clovis, NM. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Brown. Frances leaves behind a husband, David Scott of Belen, NM; four sons, Daniel Denton and wife, Bobbie of Albuquerque, NM, James E Denton and AnnMarie Barry of Los Lunas NM, Dean D Denton and wife, Lisa of Owsso, Ok, David Lee (Boo) Scott and wife, Loretta of Belen, NM; and one daughter, Wanda Shiflett and husband, Bill of Stratford, OK. Frances leaves behind one sister, Darlene Howard and husband, Don of Clovis NM; and four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and friends whom will all miss her dearly. Frances loved the outdoors, her mule, Velvet, and she loved riding her 4-wheeler with her family and friends. She will be missed dearly and the comfort lies in that we will all see her again.
