Baca -- Ernest T. Baca, born on November 18, 1912 to the late Luciano and Vitilia Baca, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at his home in Pueblitos. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Ernest retired from Sandia Base in 1972 after 28 years of outstanding service. Also, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force during W.W.II. He is preceded in death by parents; his three sisters, Jennie and Vicky Baca and Lucille Luts; four brothers, Tony, Frank, and two infant brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy of the family home; his two sons, Jimmy Hoover and dear friend, Nona Anderson, Ernest Baca and his wife, Anna of Jarales; one daughter, Ann Mascarenas and husband, Ray of Pueblitos; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lou Weatherspoon of Pueblitos, Pauline Carrillo and husband, Joe of Apple Valley, CA, Mary Ann Sanchez and husband, Horacio"Shina", and Sophie Torres and husband, Florentino, both of Albuquerque; and his two brothers, Arthur and wife, Cleara of Albuquerque and Joe of Belen. Ernest is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A Viewing will be held on Monday, 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m.. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Father David officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bergquist -- John W. Bergquist, 84, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jayne Bergquist; daughters, Lesley Schultz and husband, Andrew, Deborah Hudgins and Jonelle Phelps and husband, Clifford; five grandchildren, Ashley Schultz, Devon and Chad Hudgins, and Alexandra and Jordan Phelps; and brother, Irving Bergquist, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Bergquist was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, the University of New Mexico and attended Harvard University. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and later worked for the Veterans Administration. Mr. Bergquist was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, also Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion Post 49. John loved the great outdoors, including fishing, hunting and gardening. One of his passions was to take trips and explore the world. He will be missed greatly by family and friends. John will be in our hearts forever. Private Services will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception and celebration of John's life will be held Monday, at 2:30 p.m., at the Schultz residence. Cox -- Eugene Wesley"Gene" Cox, 83 years of age, passed peacefully October 24, 2001 his family members present. Gene married Mary Anna Downey of Des Moines, Iowa in Albuquerque, '44. Both love Albuquerque, and became permanent residents in l951, returning from Weisbaden, Germany. Gene, predeceased by son, Vietnam Veteran, Douglas Eugene, leaves in addition to Mary, their daughter, Anne Carol Hayes; and son, Eugene W. Cox II; their two grandsons, Douglas Eugene Hayes and David Lee Hayes; his brother, Bert and wife, Carolyn Cox. Joining the Army Air Corps in l940, Gene earned his pilot wings. He loved to fly. After the war, he made Captain with Delta Airlines, the 99th hire. Returning to the Air Force, Gene became current in the B-52, was Squadron Commander of the 4925th Atomic Test Squadron KAFB, and later took command of Eniwetok,55-56. Direct from the factory, Gene piloted the B-52 displayed at the KAFB Atomic Museum, Tail #13, always specifically pointed out to 8th grade students on WWII field trips from his daughter's class. Phase 2 of Gene's career was entered with equal talent and energy as a farmer, home builder, cattleman, and horseman. A pivotal family member, Gene/Dad/Grandpa, will remain in the hearts and minds of those who love him and friends who knew him. He was the"sparkplug" of any gathering, unique and fun. He told Mary long ago,"Whenever I kick the bucket, tell our friends to go home and toast my memory," . . . like his favorite song,"Show Me the Way to go Home." We love you Dad and your life. Freer -- Matthew Clyde Freer, died October 3, 2001. He is preceded in death by his former spouse, Barbara Jelinek; brother, Frankie DeZula July 20, 1968; dad, Gene Freer in 1958; mother, Wanda Freer in 1988; and grandmother, Margaret DeZula in 1995. He is survived by his grandparents, Mildred and Clyde Freer, Wewoka, OK; four children, Martha Kosmeh and husband, John, Las Vegas, NV, Nichole Belville, Summerville, SC, Tiffany McQueary, and Kera McQueary both of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by four sisters, LynAnn DeHaan, Apache Junction, AZ, Geraldine Freer, Albuquerque, Margaret Loveday and husband, Terry, Las Vegas, NV and Angel Duran and husband, Charles, Las Vegas, NV; two uncles, Alex Bacalski and wife, Frances, San Jose, CA and Jerry Freer, Wewoka, OK; and one aunt, Helen Brown and husband, Walter, San Francisco, CA; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Matthew was a people person and a great musician who loved guitar music and played in several bands. He was also an outdoors man who loved fishing. He had a special talent for fixing things. Gallegos -- Mr. Herman H. Gallegos Sr., 52, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 26, 2001. Mr. Gallegos is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Alvarez and husband, Juan and Emily Gallegos; two sons, Joe Thomas Gallegos and wife, Evelyn and Herman Patrick Gallegos Jr.; three granddaughters, Ashley Brown, Monique and Nadine Gallegos; six sisters, Josefita Montoya and Blase Benavidez, Ruth Maldonado and husband, Mickey, Lilly Dimas, Irene Olivas and husband, Robert, Crucita Gallegos and Lawrence Otero, Patty Jimenez and husband, Martine; sister-in-law, Laura Gallegos; six brothers, Delo Gallegos and wife, Polly, Rey Gallegos and wife, Demecia, Epi Gallegos and wife, Rita, Arthur Gallegos and wife, Mary, Joe Gallegos, Mike Gallegos and wife, Connie; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; very special friend, Chava Guzman. George -- Ms. Corky George passed peacefully in the arms of her family on Oct. 26, 2001. She was a resident of albuquerque for more than 45 years. We knew little that morning that God would call your name. In life, we loved you dearly. In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. But you did not go alone. For part of us went with you. The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonita and Saul Lujan; brothers, Saul Lujan Jr., Philomeno Lujan and Jerry Lujan; sisters, Sally Sprunk and Tillie Lujan. Harris -- Earl Roland Harris, 82, entered eternal life on October 25, 2001. Born in Celeste, TX to Earl R. Harris and Lula L. Harris, he lived in various locations in Texas and New Mexico in his younger years. Earl graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1936, then moved to Taos, NM, where he worked with his mother and stepfather at the family's bakery. Earl joined the National Guard on April 3, 1940 and went into active duty on January 6, 1941. He was assigned to the 200th Coast Artillery Corps, and was sent to Bataan, in the Philippine Islands, in September 1941. The Japanese bombed Bataan on December 7, 1941, just hours after the Pearl Harbor attack. The 200th Coast Artillery Corps was surrendered to the Japanese on April 9, 1942. Earl and the other survivors were forced to march to prison camps in what is now known as the"Bataan Death March." After 3 1/ 2 years in four different Japanese prison camps, Earl was liberated and was honorably discharger from the Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and numerous other medals on July 2, 1946. Upon his return to the United States, Earl moved to Lamar, CO, where he and his father built the Motor Way hotel. In 1948, Earl married Tommie Colleen Leach from Clovis, NM. They had two sons in Colorado, Dale and David. In 1953, the family moved to the Albuquerque North valley and started Harris Poultry Farm. The next two children, Diane and Dean were born there. The family moved to Anthony, NM in 1971, where Earl started Rio Farms Incorporated, as well as run the family farm. In 1998 after retiring, Earl and Tommie moved back to the Albuquerque area. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl R. Harris; his mother, Lula L. Cox, and stepfather, Clyde W. Cox. Earl is survived by his wife, Tommie; children, Dale Harris and Rae Hamilton of Durango, CO, David and Mary Harris of Las Cruces, NM, Diane and Tom Di Rito of Denver, CO, and Dean and Cheryl Harris of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Tammy Harris, Christopher Di Rito, Lisa Di Rito, & Laura Di Rito; also his step-mother Opal Harris of Lubbock, TX. Memorial Services will be at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2001. Earl will be buried at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Private burial services will be held.

Jones -- Eula Pauline Jones, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1951, died on Friday, October 26, 2001 while in the loving and compassionate care of Sandia Hospice. She was 91 years young and was recently preceded in death on October 12, 2001, by her husband, George W. Jones. Eula was born on December 15, 1909 in Hebron, Nebraska, the daughter of Ernest R. and Flora Kish Adamson. She grew up in Alliance, Nebraska and Edgemont, South Dakota. As a teenager, she was the pianist at the local movie theater, where she added much drama and emotion for the silent movies. In 1931, she married her childhood sweetheart, Delbert C. Cole and moved to West Des Moines, Iowa. She worked at Valley Junction National Bank and became a loving mother as well as a loving wife. In 1945, she joined P.E.O., an international philanthropic educational organization. She devoted her energies for the rest of her life to the objects and aims of P.E.O. In 1951, the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Delbert established Cole Drug Stores. Delbert died in 1968 in Albuquerque. She then married George Wesley Jones in 1973. They spent many happy years living in Four Hills, where they both enjoyed golf at Four Hills Country Club. They lived for the past three years in comfort at The Village at Alameda, an assisted living home. She is survived by her children, Jack and Barbara Cole of Farmington, NM, Carole and Bill Nickell of Sandia Park, NM, Jim and Barbara Cole of Rose Hill, Kansas, and Jackie and Dan March of Annandale, Virginia. Her many grandchildren include Jacque Moss, Sharon and Ray Aragon, Jenny Davis, Kari Cole, Mitchell Cole, Neel and Katya Duncan, Lynn and Justin Cooper, Todd Arnold, Connie Arnold, Cindy and Tom Miller, Richard Nickell, Lesley Cole, Warren Cole, Matthew Cole, David and Stacey March, and Steve and Tracy March. Her great-grandchildren are Zachary Moss, Alyssa and Dave Martinez, Candice Aragon, Jill and Jay Davis, Dillan Cole, Dasha and Elizabeth Duncan, Hannah and Grant Cooper, Chelsea Arnold, Loren Nickell, and Julia Miller. Kubina -- Mr. Gregory A. Kubina, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on October 25, 2001. Mr. Kubina is the beloved father of four children, Gregory Kubina and wife, Stephanie, Thomas Kubina, Karl Kubina and Tammara Ferguson and husband, Robert; sister, Mrs. Ludmilla and Herrick. He is also survived by a dear friend, Louisa Gallegos. Mr. Kubina was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II. Montoya -- Beatriz"Betty" Montoya, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 61 years, died Friday, October 26, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Cristobal Montoya of the family home; son, Anthony C. Montoya and wife, Lorraine of Albuquerque; daughter, Michelle A. Martin and husband, Robert of Sandia Park, NM; grandchildren, Anthony C. Montoya, Jr., Lisa Marie Montoya, Matthew Montoya, and Christopher Martin; parents, Ralph and Lydia Gurule; and brothers, Richard and Gilbert Gurule. Mrs. Montoya was an active member of the American Cancer Society Reach for Recovery and St. Vincent's de Paul Society. She retired as a secretary from Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education in 1996. She was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Reeves -- Rose Keator Reeves, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2001. She was the widow of D.W. Reeves, with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage. Rose is survived by one daughter, Jan Reeves Keleher; her son-in-law, William B. Keleher; five grandchildren, Mary Keleher Castle and husband, Bruce; Joann Keleher Wylie and husband, Phil; William R. Keleher and wife, Nora Kelly; Mark A. Keleher; and Julia Keleher and husband, Christopher Dineen; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marian Keator; two nieces; and one nephew. Born and reared in Bermuda, LA, a few miles south of Natchitoches, LA, she had fond memories of her childhood and a deep love for Louisiana. She held a teaching certificate from Louisiana State Normal School and taught grade school in Lake Charles, LA until her marriage. Before making her final home in Albuquerque, she resided in both Texas and Oklahoma. For many years she was an active supporter and volunteer in civic and church activities, including the Newman Center at UNM, Casa Angelica Home and Barrett House. Teasdale -- Mary Eleanor Teasdale, age 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday from a brief illness. Her husband, Robert D. Teasdale preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters, Carol Lloyd and spouse, Larry of Wooster, OH, Lynn Pavelchak and spouse, Joseph of Robbinsville, NJ, Julie Jamison and spouse, Carl of Albuquerque, NM; son, James Teasdale and spouse, Chris of Germany; grandchildren, Robert Pavelchak, Kristine Pavelchak, Michelle Adams, Theresa Snow; great-grandchildren, Steffanee Adams, Natalee Adams, Emilee Adams, Trent Clark, Douglas Snow. Mrs. Teasdale had been active in Ladies Golf, enjoyed being a seamstress, and participated in arts and crafts shows in the area. Zehna -- Byron (Buddy) L. Zehna, 61, born 4-27-40 in Trinidad, CO., passed away on October 24, 2001, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce; son and daughter-in-law, Frank & Stephanie Zehna; three grandchildren, Sallie, Joseph, & Nicolas, of Athens, Georgia; daughter, Pamela Perrine, of Manhattan Beach, CA; mother, Virginia Cordova Zehna and sister, Anita Thompson, of Denver, CO; numerous sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Zehna, and sister, Joan Barton. Buddy worked in the automobile business for years in the Albuquerque area. He served as Sergeant in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He loved to play golf and fish. He regularly attended Calvary of Albuquerque where he was active in the cancer ministry.
