Cathey -- Thelma L. Cathey, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, entered into the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on October 3, 2001. Her husband of 59 years, M.J. Cathey, her parents, John M. and Ethel L. Hutches and her brother, Hobart Hutches, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Cathey and Larry M. Cathey of Albuquerque; her brother, Hubert J. Hutches and his wife, Anita of Pasadena, CA; her sister-in-law, Nowata Jean Billon and her husband, Stephen of Las Vegas, NV; her brothers-in-law, J. Lee Cathey and his wife, Naomi of Carlsbad, NM, James Cathey of Perris, CA: her brother-in law, Winston's wife, Nora Cathey; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her"honorary" daughters and sons, Ruth and George Cooper, Anna and John Wright. Grandma Thelma is also survived by her"honorary" grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Sharon, and Simeon Cooper and Jonah, Aubrey, and John Z. Wright. She was born on June 27, 1923 in Vilas, Colorado. She lived in Springfield, CO and attended high school there. She met M.J. Cathey in Springfield, while he was stationed there in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Thelma and M.J. were married on December 7, 1940. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1941 and in 1949 they moved to Albuquerque. Thelma was a devoted servant of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, having brought her parents to the Truth, and spending countless hours in prayer for the salvation of relatives and friends. Thelma was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker for her family, and a blessing and a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Southeast, 1215 Hazeldine SE, on Monday, October 8, 3:30 p.m. She will be interred with her husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, on Tuesday, October 9, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian Academy, 1404 Lead SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Davis -- Claude E. Davis, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, died Friday, October 5, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn W. Davis, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his sons, Thomas E. Davis and wife, Glenda, Don T. Davis, Jim A. Davis and wife, Linda, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Bryan Davis and wife, Stephanie, John T. Davis and wife, Lorrie, Chad E. Davis and fiancÈ, Jennifer, and Cathy Davis West and husband, Clint; great grandchildren, Jessica, Hunter, Alyssa, and Josie Davis, all of Albuquerque; brother, Robert E. Davis and wife, Janie of Tulsa, OK. Mr. Davis served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Major in the Army Reserve. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Davis was a Chemist in Richland, WA at the Hanford Plant and a Health Physicist with the Atomic Energy Commission and D.O.E. in Albuquerque. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where he served on the board of elders. Mr. Davis was also a president of Toastmasters. Fellows -- Paul D. Fellows, Sr., Colonel, USAF (Ret.) of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, October 3, 2001. He is survived by his sons, Phillip N. Fellows, Glenn H. Fellows and wife, Patricia Hancock, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Lois A. Fellows of Richmond, VA; grandsons, Paul D. Fellows III and wife, Rhonda of Lampasas, TX, David M. Fellows and wife Surita of Troy, TX, Ryan Fellows and wife, Vicki of Albuquerque, Kevin Fellows and fiancée, Christine Burrell of Brooklyn, NY, and Edward Tsyitee, Jr. and wife, Mel, of Richmond, VA; granddaughter, Paige Jordan and husband, Jim of Fairborn, OH; great-grandsons, Paul D. Fellows, IV of Lampasas, TX and Nikolas Tsyitee of Richmond, VA; granddaughters, Katlynn Fellows of Troy, TX, Nikola Fellows and Adriana Fellows, both of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews and family in Maryland and Pennsylvania He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Wilma C. Fellows in September 1999 and his eldest son, Paul Jr., Captain USAF in 1961. Mr. Fellows was born June 15, 1909 in Washington D.C. He graduated McKinley Tech High School in D.C. and the University of Maryland Engineering College in 1932. Mr. Fellows was employee of Potomac Electric Power Co. for seven years. He was employee of Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York since 1961. Mr. Fellows was commissioned in USAQMC in 1938 and in USAF in 1947. He retired from USAF in 1961. Mr. Fellows was a member of Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Fraternities. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. NE, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col USAF (Ret.). Fishback -- Doris E. Fishback, age 65, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 5, 2001. Gonzales -- Felix Martinez Gonzales, 82, a resident of Rio Rancho, N.M., died October 5, 2001. He is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Esther; four children, Teri and husband Charlie Leon, Mary Gonzales, Michael Gonzales and Rose White, all of Rio Rancho; eight grandchildren, Chris and Greg Leon, Matthew and Mario Gonzales, Michael and Jennifer White, James and Joseph Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren; his brother Danny and wife Emily Gonzales; his sisters Mary Jane Baca, Catherine Chavez, Gloria and husband Lorenzo Castillo. He was preceded in death by his son Felix"Pinky" Gonzales; his parents Jose and Margaret Gonzales; sisters Teri and husband Albert Van Dame, Virginia Arellano and brother Joe Gonzales. Felix served his country in two military branches, the Army and Navy, during peacetime and World War II. Felix was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be remembered as a man of strong character and great integrity. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, 7 p.m., in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, 4310 Sara Rd. SE in Rio Rancho. Heineken -- Melvin L. Heineken, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, passed away under the care of Delta Hospice and Sandia Hospice. He was born April 9, 1906 in Valley Falls, KS to Edwin and Eva Harvey Heineken. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Cantwell Heineken; son, William M. Heineken; brother, Marvin L. Harvey Sr.; and sister, Esther M. Landon. He is survived by his wife, Lillian G. Heineken, of the family home; son Edwin of Detroit, MI; daughter, Elizabeth Robertson of Dallas, TX; grandson, Billie Mike Heineken, son of William M. and seven other grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-daughters, Patricia and Harvey Hudson, of Farmington, Gail and Michael Kaehr of Lewisville, TX and Linda Lewis of Placerville, CA; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Melvin was an engineer with Sandia Corp. Jet Propulsion Lab, Westinghouse, GE, Bendix, US Navy, US Air Force, and he was retired from RCA. He was also a radio installer for Howard Hughes, TWA, McDonald Douglas and Boeing. Melvin was a 32nd mason and a Shriner. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. Kellis -- Peter I. Kellis, 77, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, and a resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, died Thursday, October 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Angeliki Kellis; son, Ignatios"Jack" Kellis, both of Albuquerque; daughters, CA and Marianthe"Mary" Scanlan and husband, Kevin of San Diego, CA; sisters, Sophia Aleck of Santa Fe and Athena Patsalis of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Electra, Eleni, Eliana and Emalia Katelanis, Gavin and Katelin Scanlan. Peter was born and raised in Greece and immigrated to the U.S. He owned and operated The Palace Caf? on Central and Atrisco, and later operated The Western View Diner near Coors and Central. He was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Peter will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Lucero -- Thomas Lucero,84, passed away Saturday in a local hospital. Mr. Lucero is survived by his life partner Juanita Montoya, one son Richard Lucero, one sister Mary Perea, two nephews Dale Perea, Dr. Joseph Perea, two nieces Virginia Nickeson, Jean A. Zarecki. Munzer -- In memory of Paul Anthony Munzer. September 3 1912 - October 4, 2001 Born in Philadelphia, PA., Paul was married to Grayce Catherine Merideth on October 23, 1949. Paul had three sisters and four brothers and is survived by his wife, Grayce and daughter, Michelle Denise Munzer-Hooker. In Philadelphia, Paul was a contractor and later moved to Albuquerque where he owned his own paint store and later worked as a salesman for Wellborn Paint. He was known as"Mr. Paint". Newell -- Gaylord "Bill" Newell, 87, a resident of Albuquerque died Saturday, October 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Virginia Newell of Albuquerque. "Buck" Carlyle III and wife, Jean of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Keri Rostek and husband, Tom of Red Feather Lakes, CO, Dana Kaiser and husband, Gary of San Antonio, TX, Camille Gray and husband, Mike of Georgetown, TX, Clair Petelski and husband, Todd of Sherman, TX, Ryan Jones and Tori Jones, both of Albuquerque; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Virgina Winget and husband, Richard of Hereford, TX. Mr. Newell was in the retail grocery business for over 40 years in Hereford, TX. He was a resident of Hereford for 80 years, where he served as a volunteer fireman. Perry -- Johnnie B. Perry, 81, passed away October 6, 2001. He was born in Texas, served in the Army in WWII, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Deola Perry, and numerous other family and friends who dearly loved and will miss him. Visitation will be held at Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW Alb. Phillips -- Jack W. Phillips, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Friday, October 5, 2001, at home. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Phillips; children, Nedra A. Rathbun -- Madelyn Rathbun, daughter of a pioneer Colorado ranching family, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior and Partner in life, Jesus Christ, on October 5, 2001. She was born October 22, 1913 in Fowler, CO to Clarence and Lydia Strickland and was the oldest of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Rathbun; brothers, Roy, Clifford, Elmer, and Don Strickland. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jim Rathbun of Edgewood; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Margie Rathbun of Lake Jackson, TX; 12 grandchildren, Cherryl and Rich Greene, David and Betsy Greenwell, Randy and Wendy Travis, Cindy and Pat Joseph, Brett and Janet Travis, Rene and David Glass, Robbie and Terri Travis, Kari and Marcus Lynch, Kyndra Wand, Lonnie and Kelly Rathbun, Deanna and Andy Young, Troy Rathbun; and 33 great-grandchildren, Corri, Travis, Robin, Jennifer, Andrea, Valerie, Jessica, Sarah, P.J., Chasiti, Chariti, B.J., Dustin, Lane, Erica, Tim, April, Joy, Karleigh, Hannah, Melanie, Courtney, Timmy Kelsey, Chrissy, Justin, Jeremy, Jacob, Jacee, Jordan, Makenna, Arron and Joshua; sisters, Dorothy and Rich Richards, Dolores Peterson; brothers, Charles and Pat Strickland, Dale and Dorothy Strickland, and Bill and Betty Strickland. Madelyn and Floyd were ranchers in Colorado until 1951 when they moved to Albuquerque where Madelyn entered the Real Estate business. She had been a Realtor since 1952 and was the first woman to be an officer on the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. She was the second recipient to receive the CO Nelson Award of Excellence from the Albuquerque Board of Realtors and was one of the very first women in Real Estate. Madelyn's family would like to give a BIG THANKS to all of her caregivers for all of their support. A celebration of Madelyn' life and a viewing will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Jean Rathbun at 55 William's Ranch Rd., Edgewood, NM on October 8, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Moriarty on October 9, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brett Travis (grandson) officiating. Schroeder -- Charlotte Frances Schroeder, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico succumbed to cancer on October 3, 2001. Charlotte was born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois. After High School, she worked for the Royal Neighbors of America before joining and becoming an officer in the Salvation Army for 17 years. She was stationed in northern Illinois and southern Michigan. After retirement in 1972, she moved to Albuquerque, NM and worked at the University of Albuquerque and at the University of New Mexico. She never married; her loves were the Bible and music. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. Schroeder and Anna Pech Schroeder-Swain and two infant sisters. Charlotte is survived by her brother, Maurice B. Schroeder and wife, Kay of Truth or Consequences, NM; her sister, Alethea Schroeder Hill and husband, Bill of Albuquerque, NM; nieces, Maureen Hagele of Hot Springs, AR, Connie Cupples of Newton, IA, and Susan Hill of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Dwight Schroeder of Compton, CA, and David Hill and wife, Ginny of Bluewater, NM. She is also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. The Visitation for Charlotte will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with the Service on Monday, October 8, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Rev. Mark Conkling of the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church and Major Julie Beauchamp of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Stokes -- Betty Jean Stokes, 71, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on October 1, 2001. She was a native of San Jose, California; she retired to Medford, Oregon and had lived in Albuquerque, NM for the past three years. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Patten; one son, George Balcom and wife, Maria; grandchildren, Josh, Christy, Heather, and Nathan; great-grandson, Christian; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Strange -- Nancy Lee Strange, 62, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, October 5, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Strange and Rhonda Romero; sons, L.D. Strange and wife, Dolores and Mark Strange; mother, Juanita Speight all of Albuquerque; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and brother Daniel Speight and wife, Martha of Guam. She was preceded in death by her son in law, Bennie Romero. Nancy retired from Fiesta Bowl in 1997. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family and loved the outdoors and Sandia Mountains.
