Balding -- Frankie Julia Balding, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2001. She is survived by daughter Patricia Enns and husband, Gerald"Jerry" of Albuquerque; Grandsons, Kyle Enns of Seattle, and Gary Enns and wife, Melody stationed in Aviano, Italy serving in the Air Force; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frankie was a member of the Albuquerque Stroke Club. Services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2001, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Bell -- Capt. Gordon Colman Bell, USN, Ret., a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. He was born on September 21, 1918 in Tullahoma, Tennessee and passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Albuquerque, NM. Gordon is survived by his wife, Elinor; daughter, Joy Bell Tauber, both of Albuquerque; brother, William, and wife, Ann of Carriere, MS; sister, Anita Banks, and husband, Arthur of Bristol, TN; brother-in-law, Frank Horan of Collinsville, IL; nephews, Allen Bell, Michael Bell, Jeff Glover, and Mike Horan; and nieces, Ruth Ann Fuqua, Marty Acedevo, Kathy Finney, and Mary Ann Getz. He was preceded in death by his son, John Gordon; father, Estil; mother, Annie; sister, Louise Horan; and mother-in-law, Helen Powers. Gordon was a career officer in the Medical Service Corps of the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. During World War II he was a gunnery officer aboard the battleship, USS Texas. He was on the board the Texas at the Invasion of Normandy off Omaha Beach. He later served as Radiological Safety Officer during the building and commissioning of the first nuclear aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise. After retiring Gordon served on the Air Force Inspector General's Team at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was a longtime member of the Heights Christian Church, Albuquerque, NM, where he sang in the choir and served as an Elder. He also served as a trustee of El Paso Christian College, El Paso, Texas. He was active in the Christian Men's Association. Gordon was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. A memorial service will be held at the Heights Christian Church, corner of Comanche and Louisiana, 10:00a.m., Monday, July 2, 2001. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given in Gordonťs name to the Heights Christian Church.

Dahl -- Orval J. Dahl passed away Tuesday June 26th in Texas. He was born in Hay Springs, Nebraska on April 9, 1927. He is survived by hiis wife Dotty; three children, Diane Nunn and husband Gary of Belen N.M., Bruce and wife Lyn of Farmington, N.M., Doris Maysick and husband and Randy of Churchville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and friends. Orval seved in the Navy as a cook on an LST during World War Two. He retired from new Mexico Peterbuilt in 1989. Private interment will take place Tuesday morning, July 3, 2001 and celibration of Orvals life will be held Tuesday morning, July 3, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in the Messiah Lutheran Church at 11515 Lomas N.E. Paster Milton Jensen will officiate. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Hardy -- William J. Hardy, Jr. passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2001. William served his country during World War II in the US Army as a Lieutenant. He was Past Commander of the American Legion Post #250 in Hinsdale, Illinois. Bill was also a plastering contractor for many years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce L. Hardy; children, Kay Delfosse of Eastlake, OH, William J. Hardy III of Downers Grove, IL and Mary Jo Westerhorstmann and husband, Marc, of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Troy, Tanya, Katie, Eric, Steve, Lora and Kristin; and sisters, Carol, Phyllis, Jean, and Joan. William was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary, and daughter in law, Alice. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Heaton -- Emma Heaton, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Heaton; sister, Selma Holbrook; brother, Tom Maloof, all of Albuquerque; several nieces and nephews; and relatives and friends. Hogge -- Donald L. Hogge, 72, an Albuquerque resident since 1946, died Thursday, June 28, 2001. He is survived by a son, William"Bill" M. Ward and wife, Tamara of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Cheyenne L. Depies of Albuquerque; devoted sister, Wilma Hein and husband, Morris; devoted niece, Bonnie Bond and husband Ronnie and family of Arizona; devoted nephew, Edward Kittrell and wife Jean and family of Nevada; step son, Jack Jorgenson of Albuquerque; step daughter, Donna McRae of Superior, AZ; several step grandchildren. Mr. Hogge was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union. A special thanks to his friends and caretakers at Manor Care - Camino Vista for the loving care given to Don for the past few years. Montoya -- Susan J Montoya, age 46, passed away June 29, 2001 at a local hospital. She was born January 8, 1955. She is survived by her parents Anselmo J. Montoya and Margaret C. Montoya of Albuquerque; one brother, Arthur P. Montoya of Flagstaff; several aunts and uncles; and many loving cousins and friends. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She worked for many years at UNM Hospital as a nurses's assistant. She enjoyed helping those with disabilities and later worked for Res-Care in Albuquerque from which she retired in 1996. Rosary will be recited Monday, July 12, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle NE. The Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Purcella -- Johnny D. Purcella passed away suddenly at his Mountainair ranch where he loved to be,June 30th at the age of 55 He was a Viet Nam Veteran earning the purple heart and discharged with honorable mentions.. He was preceded in death by his daughter Bernice Purcella and sister Lenora Chavez. He was survived by his wife Rose Purcella, son Joe Juan Purcella, Grandchildren Chantel and Joe Juan Jr. four sisters Josie Mills and husband Richard, Melva Garcia and husband Fred Lucille Sanchez and husband Tom and Stella Benavidez and husband Rudy. A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 at the church of the Ascension. Burial will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Rivera -- Rosary services for John A. Rivera, 64, of Amarillo will be at 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 2, 2001 in Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 3, 2001 in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Reverend David R. Cruz. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Rivera died on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at his residence in Amarillo. He was born on January 21, 1937 in Trinidad, Colorado and moved to Lubbock in 1938, he moved to Amarillo in 1997. He married Sarah J. Garcia on September 11, 1959 in Lubbock. He attended Lubbock High School, El Paso Community College, South Plains College, and Draughn's Business School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as an Altar Boy there. He became a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, and served as parish counsel. He became a member of the Knight's of Columbus in Lubbock and Houston. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society. He Owned S & J catering where he sold Burritos, he was known as the"Burrito Man." Survivors include; his wife Sarah of Amarillo; three sons, Jerry Rivera of Hobbs, New Mexico, Richard Rivera of San Angelo, and Alex Rivera of Deer Park, texas; two daughters. Annette Tah of Glendale, Arizona, and Felisha DeLaCruz of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, Joe A. Rivera of Amarillo; two sisters, Felipa Cantu of Lubbock, and Mary Leos of Lubbock; eight grandsons and two granddaughters. Pallbearers will be Freddie Torres, Michael Rivera, Gabriel Rivera, Jody Leos, Tony Rivera, and Albert Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Manuel Davila, Marcos Hernandez, Bill Avilez, Jesus Valdez, Sonny Rivera, and Richard Lopez. The family suggests memorials be made to the Angels of Mercy.

Taylor -- Elden V. Taylor, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 28, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Rita Barteck and husband, Joseph of Hixson, TN and Adelle Kobs and husband, James of Edgewood, NM; eight grandchildren, Curtis Barteck, Stacey Barteck, Katrina Lum and husband, Russ, William Barteck, Marie Barteck, Donna Bushey, Jarrett Kobs and wife, Brenda, and Daniel Kobs and wife, Nicole; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Taylor and wife Donnavieve and Don Taylor and wife, Phyllis; and sister, Betty Somerville and husband, Larry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Beulah, in 1997. Elden and Beulah moved from their home in Lansing, MI to Albuquerque in 1947 with their two daughters. Elden was very active in the real estate business in the Albuquerque area and was a past president of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. He was also a past president of the Heights Lions Club as well as a member of the Elks Club and the Ballut Abyad Shrine. Elden enjoyed traveling around the country with Beulah in their motor home. He was also fond of performing for friends on one of his electronic keyboards. A memorial service will be held for Elden Monday, July 2, 2001, 4:00 p.m., at Mountain Christian Church, 12242 Hwy North 14 in Cedar Crest. Friends are encouraged to attend and share their memories of Elden and Beulah with each other.

Watts -- Virginia M. Watts, 79, of Mountainair, New Mexico passed away on Friday, June 29, 2001 at her home in Mountainair. Virginia was born on June 6, 1922 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Alpha Omega and Lenna (Lilley) Corliss. Virginia married O.T."Bud" Watts on September 23, 1939. Bud preceded her in death in 1992. Virginia lived in Mountainair over 73 years. Virginia was very active in the Assembly of God Church in Mountainair, she was President of the Women's Ministries of Assembly of God for many years, and a Sunday School Teacher, and was very active in the Mountainair Senior Citizens, she was involved with the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Study Fellowship. She is survived by three sons, Marvin C. Watts and his wife Peggy of Yoder, WY., Orvel G. Watts and his wife Doreen of Mountainair, Gary L. Watts and his wife Diane of Mountainair; one brother, Jimmy Corliss and his wife Dorothy of Mountainair; and one uncle, Charles Corliss of Springfield, OR; ten Grandchildren; sixteen Great Grandchildren; numerous Nieces and Nephews. Services are scheduled for Visitation on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and on Monday, July 2, 2001 at 10:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., at The Assembly of God Church in Mountainair. Burial will follow the service at Mountainair Cemetery. Weldon -- Babette "Betty" Weldon, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 26, 2001. Babette was born in Muhldorf Am Inn River, Germany, on December 25, 1922. She lived in Albuquerque since October 1954. She is survived by her husband, Charles Weldon; three sons, Harald, Michael, Phillip; and one daughter, Patricia Schroder; one brother Hans Wiess; two sisters Ria Hutter and Ruth Newman, all of Germany; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Westfahl -- Everett L. Westfahl, 69, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:35 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2001 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital Hospice Unit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a five-year battle with prostate cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Ruby Westfahl and his older brother Paul Westfahl all of Haven, KS; and his third and fourth wives, Sandra Stepleton and Chris McCrea Westfahl of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his oldest brother Fred Westfahl and his wife, Ronnie of Kinsley, KS, their children Kathy Rishel, Randy Westfahl, Rock Westfahl and their spouses and children; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Westfahl of Haven, KS and her children Kenny Westfahl, Peggy Thompson, Arlene Bontrager, and Diane Goldberg and their spouses and children; his first and second wives, Marilyn J. Peirce of Hutchinson, KS and Nancy H. Thoman of Seminole, FL; his daughter Ann Kroll and her husband Paul of Albuquerque, NM; and his step children, Pam Gross and her husband Steve and their children Nesbit, MS, Chuck McCrea, his children and his wife, Shelley, Mark McCrea and his wife Alice and their children; and Marc Salter and his wife Shanna, all of Albuquerque, NM. Everett Westfahl was born in Hutchinson, KS on January 28, 1932 and he grew up on the Westfahl family farm near Haven, Kansas. He graduated from Haven High School in 1950. He attended Hutchinson Junior College and Kansas State University, graduating from Kansas State University in 1955 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He accepted a position on the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories in 1955. He left Sandia National Laboratories in 1973 and became an Electronic Sales Representative with Barnhill and Associates in 1973, before joining Aztec Enterprises in 1974. He later formed his owned electronic sales organization, Westfahl and Associates in 1985. He retired from full time sales at Westfahl and Associates in 1995. He enjoyed many years of serving his numerous customers throughout the states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. He also enjoyed serving four years as president of the ISE, which conducted annual electronic trade shows in Albuquerque. A memorial service for Everett Westfahl will be held on Monday, July 2, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. N.E., with Pastor Dale Bauer, Dr. Ralph Friedenberg, and Dave Smoker, officiating. Private interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd N.E. Guests will be received at the home of Chuck and Shelley McCrea after the memorial service. We would like to thank the numerous doctors and nurses who provided Everett with dedicated and quality care, including Doctors Ralph Friedenberg, Neil Kaminsky, Richard Giudice, Amanda Story, Clifford Evans, Jonathan Lackner, William Thompson, Jr., and Paul Anthony. We would also like to thank his Prostate Cancer Support Group at Bear Canyon Senior Center, especially Lyle Ware. Everett would like to say a special thank you to his friends Bob and Betty Rader, Bob Rader, Jr., Noel Gantick, Dorothy and Paul Johnson of Seattle, WA, and his former Sandia co-workers, Ed and Shirley Jacobs, and Bill and Leora Riggan for their support and encouragement.
