Arias -- Arnie Arias, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, May 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Annabel Arias; children, Donna-Marie Pechner and husband, Stuart of Maryland, Robert A. Arias and wife, Minnie of San Diego, Susan-Marie Arias of Albuquerque, Scott A. Arias and wife, Marne of Michigan and Arnie A. Arias, Jr. of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Bailey and Blair Pechner, Travis, Kassidy, Christian, Allison, Cole and Erin Arias; brothers, Jose and wife, Betty Arias and Nick Alarid and wife, Elaine; sisters, Marita Arias and Vivian Cuadra and husband, Pedro; aunt, Loline Arias; mom and dad, Jack and Theresa Alarid. Arnie was the Vice President of the Rio Grande Corvette Club and a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church and Hispano Chamber of Commerce. He owned and operated Arnie's Maintenance. Atler -- Janet Madeline Sandoval Atler went to God on Thursday. May 17, 2001 from a local hospital. She was the beloved wife of Albert M, Atler Jr. and the mother of two daughters, Christina Renee and Cynthia Marie. She is also survived by her parents Peter and Joanna Sandoval and her brothers; Joe and wife Kellei and children Joey and Amanda of Belen, Jeff of San Francisco, CA, James and wife Barbara and daughter Lilly of Peralta. Rosary services are scheduled for Monday May 21 at the Catholic Church in Casa Colarada at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be held Friday May 25,2001 at Immaculate Conception Church in Tome. Byron -- Cathy Geisen Byron, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for about 20 years, died on Friday, May 18, 2001. Cathy is survived by her sons, Steven M. Schroeder of Albuquerque, Paul R. Schroeder of Chicago, IL, Anthony J. Schroeder of Albuquerque and James W. Schroeder of Carson City, NV; daughters, Monica M. Voorhees of Green Valley, AZ, Donna M. Randall of Albuquerque, Nanette L. Koepnick of Brookfield, WI and Carol R. McClatchey of Campbell, CA and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Teresa and Lisa. Chavez -- Alice P. Chavez, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, passed away Friday, may 18, 2001, at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seledon N. Chavez; parents, Nicolas and Rumaldita Pacheco; and brothers, Florenio and Juan Pacheco. She is survived by her daughter, Louisa and husband, Rev. Jesus G. Bermudez of Albuquerque; sisters, Beatrice and husband, Florentino Lopez of Bosque, NM, Libby Pacheco of Albuquerque, Lily and husband, Jerry Jaramillo of Lancaster, CA and Betty Barela of Belen; brother, Gilly B. Pacheco of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church and an active member of United Methodist Women. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite NW, with Rev. Jesus Bermudez officiating. Clow -- Leonore Virginia (Rome) Clow, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2001 in the company of her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Clow was born on August 8, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI. She is survived by her husband, James Martin Clow of Albuquerque; daughters, Diane Leonore Weber and husband, Tom of Pullman, WA and Kathleen Clow of Sandia Park, NM; sons, James Anthony Clow of Las Cruces, NM and Michael Raymond Clow and wife, Donna of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Michael Andrew Clow, Christianna Leigh Clow and Ashley Danielle Clow, all of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Viona Dunn of Milwaukee, WI; numerous nieces and nephews in Milwaukee. Her parents, Johanna Walcher and Joseph Rome, a brother, Edgar and a sister Dorothy Schultz preceded her in death. Leonore trained as a transcriptionist and worked with the telephone company in Milwaukee, WI during WWII. She was married to James Martin Clow, whom she had known since the second grade, on March 21, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX after James' return from the war where he served as a 1st LT and pilot of a B-26 bomber in the Mediterranean Theater. In 1947, James and Leonore moved to Los Alamos, NM where they lived until 1984. She enjoyed hiking and snowshoeing in the Jemez Mountains with a local hiking group. Mrs. Clow was very involved with her children's activities, serving as Brownie Troup and Girl Scout Troup Leader, den mother for the Cub Scouts and an avid volunteer at sporting events. After retirement in Albuquerque she enjoyed attending local arts and craft exhibits and antique buying trips with her daughter. Leonore enjoyed baking and for many years made dozens of cookies at Christmas, many of them from her mother's recipes. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2001 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee, NE with Father Luis Jaramillo, celebrant. Cooper -- Mary Cooper, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2001. She was born August 4, 1912 in Pryor, Oklahoma and as a young child made the journey with her late parents, Oscar and Clara Mae Bassett, to homestead in Venus, NM, now known as Edgewood. Mary will be remembered as a loving, kind, and caring lady, more concerned for everyone else's well being than her own. The eldest of six children, she took on many family responsibilities, including caring for their widowed mother for many years. Throughout her life as long as she was able, she continued the role of caregiver. If she couldn't offer her home or her time, she used the telephone to check on loved ones that concerned her, including her two dear close brothers, Elmer and George Bassett, who both preceded her in death. Surviving are sisters; Linnie Malott of San Dimas, California, Eunice King of Amarillo, Texas; brother Carl Bassett of Edgewood; sisters-in-law, Loyce Fullingim of Albuquerque and Iona Patton of Morgan Hill, California. Buster, her beloved husband of 66 years, preceded her in death three years prior, but in the same month and day, May 16, 1998. Their son, Ray preceded her in death on May 27, 2000. Surviving are daughters; Vivian and husband, Ron Ohnleiter of Albuquerque, Beverly and husband, Doug Davis of Ft. Worth, TX; and daughter-in-law, Janie Cooper of Albuquerque. She was a loving and devoted Grandmother to; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Mary was also Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She captured many hearts and was loved by everyone involved in her care. Many new wonderful people came into her life during her illness, and her daughters wish to express their gratitude for the loving care given Mary, and for the compassion and support shown to them during this difficult time. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2001, 1:30p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd N.E. with, Pastor George Morris, officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul N.E.

Opperman -- Rev. Arthur Carl Opperman, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, May 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fern Wolcott-Opperman of the family home; children Donna Hoffman of Springfield, MO, Lawrence Opperman of Littleton, CO and Billie Nelson of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Terri Hoffman, Shelly Hoffman-Rosenthal, Gina Opperman-Liszweski, Nick Opperman, Eric Nelson and Jennifer Nelson; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond Opperman of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Hugh who was five years old. Rev. Arthur was born December 6, 1913, the third of six children. He served as pastor to four churches and was a homebuilder. Padilla -- Mr. Gilbert R. Padilla, 62, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Santa Rosa was born on April 13, 1939 and went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2001. Mr. Padilla is survived by his beloved wife of forty-two years, Cecilia; his adoring son, Rick Padilla and wife, Patty; three daughters, Vicky Serrano and husband, Orlando, Angel Sandoval and boyfriend, Lawrence Garcia and Linda Lopez and husband, Richard; his parents, Alfonso and Nora Padilla; his ten brothers and sisters, Floyd Padilla and wife, Helen, Orlando Padillla, Victor Padilla and wife, Margaret, Larry Padilla and wife, Barbara; Rayne Padilla and wife, Linda, Flora Garcia and husband, Raul, Agneda Casaus and husband, Gilbert, Vera Estrada and husband, David, Marie Villanueva and husband, Joe and Judy Myklack and husband, Bob; his ten grandchildren, Paige Fisher Padilla, Mario and Jessica, Angelo, Janice and Cecilia Serrano, Estevan and Alexa Sandoval, Tiana, Ricardo and Andre Lopez; two great-grandchildren, Chantel and Victoria Serrano; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Enrique Padillla. Mr. Padilla was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and he left this earth peacefully with his loving family all around him, as he had wished. Mr. Padilla was a member of the Catholic Church and participated in several prayer groups. He was the prayer group leader, Eucharist Minister and created the"Feeding the Poor" program at Holy Family Catholic Church. He sharded his love of the Lord through music, and serving others. Gilbert was an outstanding athlete. During his years at Santa Rosa High School (1954-1958), he earned the titles of New Mexico State track star, state champion football and basketball player and state champion golden gloves boxer. In later years he loved to golf with his son, nephews, brothers, brothers-in-law and many friends. Gilbert was the owner of Valle Del Sol Construction. Through his kind demeanor and undying dedication to his family he will long be remembered and greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Visitation will be Monday evening in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Santos Abeyta. Final visitation will be Tuesday afternoon in the Church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. by Father Manuel Viera. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Pallbearers will be George Chavez Jr., Richard Lopez, Orlando Serrano, Rayne Padilla, Larry Padilla and Lawrence Garcia. Rinaldi -- Mary Lou Rinaldi, age 78, a former long time resident of Albuquerque, died May 19, 2001 in Omaha, NE. Her husband, Philip P. Rinaldi preceded her in death. Senior -- Winfred Bullard Senior (Lt. Col., Ph.D.) A Funeral Service for Winfred B. Senior will be held at the National Cemetary in Santa Fe Friday, May 25, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Winfred B. Senior was preceded in death by his wife, Adela Advincula Senior; his sons, Eguardo and James; and his daughter, Victoria Ortiz. He is survived by his three sons, John, Winfred Jr., Philip; and one daughter, Christina Licauco. The family asks that anyone attending the funeral not wear black. Serna -- Evangeline G. Serna, more familiar as Vangie, was born October 27, 1917 and left this life on May 18, 2001. Evangeline chose to spend the last several months with her immediate family, Beverlee S. and David M. Gard, Julie S. and William S. Steplowski and very special companion, Salsa. She enjoyed the company of very special loved ones, Joseph and Loredana Iannuzzo and Jude Baca. These special times with her loved ones were happy, warm and loving days, which were cut short by illness which occurred recently. Evangeline was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, a member of the Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. For the remainder of life's journey, she follows her husband, Julian A. Serna. She is also survived by her brother and 3 sisters, Richard and Margaret Garcia, Virginia (Virgie) and Edward Moya, Elizabeth (Bessie) and Billy Moya, and Margaret Mares. Those preceding her were her parents, Raymond M. and Laura Garcia, and siblings, Vincent, Estella, Edward, Delia and O'Delia, Raymond, Claude, Viola and Isaac Mares and her beloved Ernest. Her career: Evangeline chose to devote her attention to her family and is best famed as Mother. Rosary will be recited by Deacon Bob Lewis, Monday at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd., NW, 3 Blocks N. of Paseo Del Norte.
