Adams -- Aura J. Adams, age 70, died Monday, October 16, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Cindi Chouinard of Nevada, and Pat Racicot and husband, John Stephan of Tijeras; brother, Michael Adams of Nevada; grandchildren, Michellee Racicot of Washington, Daniellee Racicot of Albuquerque, Robert, Bryan, and Beverly Chouinard, all of Nevada; sister, Jane Wilsford of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Thelma Mills of Texas; and numerous other relatives. Aura was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Adams; and brother, Homer"Buster" Mills. Throughout her life, Aura traveled extensively, seeing many things and touching many lives. She was truly loved by all and became a friend and mother figure to not only her own children and grandchildren, but all of their friends as well. Aura was always proud of her family. She had a rich life with lots and love and family around her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 19, 4:00 p.m., at Aspen Funeral Alternatives Chapel, 1935 Juan Tabo NE, (323-9000).

Aragon -- Cresencio (Victor) Aragon, 76, an Albuquerque resident, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:20 p.m. on Octobter 16, 2000 surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by Priscilla, his wife of 52 years; son, Ruben Aragon and his wife, Jo Elda; daughter, Debbie and her husband, Jesse Delgado; nephew, Chris Leyba and his wife, Bessie; and sister, Rosalie and her husband, Bennie Gallegos. Victor was dearly loved by his three grandchildren, Susan, Lucas and Angelica; by his nephews, Louis and Jeremiah; and nieces, Tabitha and Nicole. Visitations will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2000, at St. Anne's Church, with William Aragon, Dennis Baca, Anthony Gallegos, Chris Leyba, Lucas Martinez, and Eloy Zamora serving as casket bearers. John Barela, Manuel Caire, Orlando Chavez, Louis Leyba and Tom Otero will serve as honorary casket bearers. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Victor was born on April 17, 1924 in the community of Barelas, where he grew up selling newspapers, helping his family in any way he could. Victor proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II and continued his service through his career by"doing his part and a little bit more." His leadership as a manager for over 50 years lead to numerous team championships in both baseball and softball. Victor continued to contribute to the Barelas community throughout his life, whether it was by coaching the local ball club or helping the community center with their weekly bingo games, he never stopped giving. Victor dedicated his life to bringing happiness to everyone that touched his life. He was the kind of man who would bring out the good in everyone. From the ball players that he spent so much of his life coaching to his family members whom he always showed his full support, he was the man who made us feel special. Carpenter -- David E. Carpenter, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Friday, October 13, 2000. He is survived by his brother, Paul Carpenter of Bernalillo; sister, Patricia Felmlee and husband, Theron of Fort Collins, CO; sister-in-law, Josephine Carpenter of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Carpenter. He received a degree in Agronomy from Colorado State University. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Mr. Carpenter had worked for the City of Albuquerque for 26 years as a Health Inspector. Clarke -- Veronica T. Clarke, 68, a two-year resident of Rio Rancho, died Wednesday, October 18, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Michael Clarke and Kenneth Clarke; daughter, Althea Clarke; mother, Christina; sisters, Theresa Matthews, Cynthia, and Pearl Neptune; brothers, Don, Kelvin, Alden, and Linton Neptune; and special friend, Audrey Rowe. Her hobbies included gardening, shopping, sewing, and crafts. She was a member of Friends of Many Cultures of Rio Rancho, Trinidad and Tobago Nurses Association and Knickerbocker's Professional Women's Club. She was also active in AARP and NEA. She was a devoted daughter, loving mother, and as a teacher, was committed to her students. Services will take place at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Fords, NJ, with interment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Collier -- Richard Collier, 69, passed away October 15, 2000 at the Veteran's Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was born on March 31, 1931 to the late William and Lula (Stokes) Collier in Memphis, TN. Mr. Collier served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force from 1948 to 1964, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Rose Collier; two daughters, Linda Daye of Bellmont Shore, CA and Suzette Collier-Martinez of Albuquerque; four sons, Louis G. Chavez of Kirksville, MO, Juan L. Chavez of Poway, CA, Esequiel Ricardo Chavez and Richard Collier Jr., both of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2000, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in Fern Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. with Martha Herrera officiating. Flores -- Nellie B. Flores, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Monday, October 16, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Esensee of Denver, CO, Mary Blau of Cedar Crest, NM, Meridith McDonald of Florida, Catherine Flores Rynerson, San Diego, CA; sons, Walter Flores, William Flores, and Stephen Flores, all of Albuquerque and John David Barela of Broken Arrow, OK; brothers, Joe Barela of Florida, Robert Barela of Albuquerque, and Edward Barela of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Rosemarie Calvillo of El Paso, TX; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Guevara -- Guadalupe Guevara Jr. passed away October 18, 2000. A native New Mexican he served in the US Army and was owner of Affordable Furniture Store. He is survived by his mother, Maria Guevara; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Hildebrandt -- On October 13, 2000 Kenneth Rutheford Hildebrandt, born in Northfield, Minnesota, went to be with the Lord. At this time he was residing in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to relocating to the southwest, Ken was a Regional Sales Manager for the Chrysler Corporation, based in Spokane, Washington. When relocating to Albuquerque, NM, Ken became the Business Administrator of First Presbyterian Church from 1960 to 1969. In semi-retirement he worked for B&H Wholesale as General Manager. Kenneth was active in church work throughout his life and managed rental properties during his retirement years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel B. Hildebrandt; a son, Wayne K. Hildebrandt of Albuquerque; and a daughter, Joan Martinez of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Virginia Hildebrandt; a son-in-law, Richard Martinez; and five grandchildren, Gary Hildebrandt of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy Hildebrandt of Albuquerque, Ann Gonzalez of Glendale, AZ, Robert Martinez of Phoenix, AZ, and Rick Martinez of Corona, CA; and six great-grandchildren. Humble -- Ava Thelma Humble, 89, died Monday, October 16, 2000 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque. Mrs. Humble lived in both Albuquerque and Durango, Colorado for the past 70 years. A Funeral service will be Friday, October 20, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Father Mike McCleary will be officiating and burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. Mrs. Humble was born in a blinding snowstorm on January 11, 1911 in Sawyer, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Spain. Her ancestors, all farmers and preachers first came to the U.S. from the 1780's-1820's. Her grandfather and grandmother were deaf-mutes and Mrs. Humble learned sign language well, even demonstrating the sign language alphabet in her 89th year. Mrs. Humble's uncle was a Civil War veteran and was a survivor of the Andersonville, Georgia prison camp. Mrs. Humble was the captain of the Sawyer High School Basketball team in 1928 where she played forward and she served as president of her student council. She was also Maid of Honor in the Kansas Wheat Queen Contest in 1928. Mrs. Humble survived the Kansas dust bowl in the 1930's and the Great Depression in New Mexico in the 30's. In high school she saw her first radio and still remembers the first broadcast into Kansas. Mrs. Humble was a writer and had written a novel, a how-to book, and numerous short stories. She played piano and sax at one time and she had made her own soap and butter and canned her own food. She was a notable 4-H leader in the community and led that organization to several Drama State Champion titles, as well as the Nation Chessecake Contest Winners. Mrs. Humble won national honors for her role in the 4-H. Mrs. Humble had numerous other accomplishments such as passing both real estate and securities exams on her first try. She is survived by two sons, Arthur Burl Humble of Phoenix, AZ and Rod Humble of Durango, CO; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Humble; a son, Sidney Humble; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Gonzales. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Senior Fund, La Plata County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2164, Durango, CO 81302. This fund assists in the care of pets belonging to senior citizens in La Plata County.

Lopez -- The beautiful "Kat'" Kathleen J. Lopez, age 31, of Santa Fe passed away. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jose E. Lujan; father, Robert E. Lopez; grandmother, Piedad Lopez; and grandfather, Patrick Lopez. Kat had a career in culinary arts and worked in several restaurants in Santa Fe. She also worked as a cashier at Albertsons and the City of Gold Casino. Her"Mommy" was her life and she cared for her with all her heart. Kat was very much loved by her mother, sisters and brothers and always reached out to help them when needed. She was genuinely caring, loving and trusting to all her many friends. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews with gifts and love. Her beautiful smile brought happiness to those around her and she loved to make everyone laugh with her distinct laughter. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Lopez; sisters, Liz Z. Montoya, Trish Lopez and Roberta Lopez; brothers, Tim J. Margo -- Gus "Kostas" Margo died October 16, 2000 at the age of 71. He was born on September 14, 1929 in Kalamata, Greece, where he served as an officer in the Greek Army. He became a U.S. citizen shortly after arriving here in 1964 and has since lived in Albuquerque. He managed several restaurants in Albuquerque before developing his own real estate and appraisal firm. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Vena Margo and Lena Eddings; son-in-law, Scott Eddings; grandchildren, Ariana Jo and Jak Eddings; his sister, Katherine Argyres; as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends. He is remembered as a husband, father, and Papou whose love and spirit goes deeper than anything we have ever known. He made a difference to everyone who knew him. A Trisagion service will be performed on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Murphy -- Anthony E. Murphy, age 87, born in Buffalo, New York, a resident here 64 years, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; son, Ralph; granddaughter, Dena Gorman; great-grandchildren, Jackson and McKenna Gorman; and special friend, Gail Murphy; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Murphy was the owner of Typewriter Service Co. from January 2, 1940 until his retirement, October 6, 1976. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday. Neel -- Myrtle E. Neel, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Wednesday, October 18, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Weldon F. Neel and wife, Tassie of Arlington, TX, Ralph G. Neel and wife, Sally of Albuquerque; daughter, Doreen S. Parker and husband, Andrew of Belen; and son, Keith D. Neel and wife, Chris of Tijeras; sister, Ivy Mitchell of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren, Sharon Dunkin, Kye Chisman, Aaron Farris, Tanya Lawrence, Leah Jewell, Brian Neel, Julie Wiens and Kenneth H. Bair III; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Neel was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Weldon A. Neel Sr. in 1994; two grandsons, Mark and Karl Neel; and brother, Lawrence Lemmel. Newton -- LELA M. NEWTON Fondly referred to as the oldest living Lobo fan, passed away in her sleep early Tuesday morning. Born in 1895, she moved to Albuquerque in 1949, where she was employed by the IRS until her retirement from federal services. She then worked for the County Treasurer until she retired at the age of 83. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lobo basketball team (past and present) for your kindness and time in decorating her room with Lobo memorabilia and the many exciting nights of Lobo games. Also thanks to the many fans for singing happy birthday to her in the Pit. This was one of her most fondest memories. I would like to also express my gratitude to the staff of Sunbridge Mission Manor for your tireless patience and gentle care, and to all of her friends who made her life brighter. Certainly not last, thank you Phyllis, you were a God send. She was loved by many and will be missed by ALL. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Strong-Throne and interment will be at a later date in Windsor, MO.

Nogales -- Damacio E. Nogales, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away into the Lord's Hands on October 14, 2000. His son, Frederick, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carmen. He is also survived by five daughters, Yvonne Muirhead and husband, John, Carmelita Nogales, Sandra Henry and husband, Mark, Mary Margaret Davey and husband, Blake, Barbara Nogales and friend, Kay Day; along with his son, Francisco Rocky and wife, Eileen. He has four grandsons, Forrest Henry, Jackson Henry, Adrian Nogales and Damacio Nogales. Damacio"Dino" was born in High Rolls, New Mexico on December 18, 1924. He grew up in Alamogordo before he was drafted into combat service for his country with the Army Air Corps (Eighth Air Force) during World War II as a B-24 Aerial Gunner. A native New Mexican, far away from home, he served proudly in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. He was awarded three Air Medals, the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal (barely!) and three Victory Medals for his efforts. Damacio returned home after the war and obtained a BS in Business Administration from the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (New Mexico State). He remained in New Mexico working for Phillip Morris and eventually settled in El Paso, Texas, where he began 25 years of civil service, first at Holloman Air Force Base and then at White Sands Missile Range and NASA during the Apollo Lunar Missions He retired as the Chief Budget Analyst at WSMR and recently moved to Rio Rancho, realizing his dream to return to his home state of New Mexico. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Rio Rancho Funeral Home Chapel at 2400 Southern Blvd., from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which time a Rosary will be recited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church in Corrales with the Rev. Father Clarence Galli as Celebrant, with interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park at the corner of Meadow Lark and Sara Rd., in Rio Rancho. Pallbearers will be Damacio and Adrian Nogales, Modesto Sanchez, Mark Henry, Blake Davey and John Muirhead. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Flores Sr., Louie Nogales Sr. and Alonso Vallado. Pond -- Lucille Olson Pond born 5/26/12 in Starbuck, Minnesota to Axel H. and Ragnhild Olson, residents of Glenwood, Minnesota. The seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, and the last of nine children, Lucille died peacefully in her home Tuesday 10/17/00. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ashley Pond III, 3/17/86. Survivors include children, Joan Pond¯Taos, Karen Krone (James)¯Albuquerque, Gretchen Lofgren (Norman)¯Tucson, and Ashley D. Pond (Katherine)¯Taos; grandchildren, Kersti Tyson, Briget Tyson, Jono Tyson, Dawn Boulware, Elizabeth Wynia, Patty May, Teresa Lane, Hal Lofgren, Ashley Evan Pond, & Adrienne Pond; plus many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. Lucille received her education at St. Olaf's College in Northfield, Minnesota and at the Yale School of Nursing. She married Ashley Pond III in 1935 and in 1936 the couple came to Taos, bringing modern medicine to the community. They were instrumental in establishing Taos' first hospital in a building donated by Mabel Dodge Lujan. The couple also introduced skiing to Taos, trekking to the US Hill and Tres Ritos area in the late 1930's. Lucille was well known for her extensive community service, including the cub scouts, girl scouts, the Taos Town Council from 1968 to 1972, the Taos Planning and Zoning Commission, an original member of the National Ski Patrol, Taos Schools PTA, the Holy Cross Hospital Taos Health Systems Board, and many others. Perhaps her most avid service was to the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary of which she was a charter member in 1937 along with Winnie Berninghaus and Helen Emily Brandenburg. She was honored in 1990 as the NM Hospital Association's outstanding Auxilian and received certificates of appreciation this year for over 60 years of service to the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary. In 1991, she was honored as one of the Fifth Annual Taos Living Treasures. In 1966, she was named Mother of the Year by the tri-culture Women's Division of the Taos County Chamber of Commerce. In 1985, she was honored as"Mrs. PTA" and"Mrs. GOP". A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Taos, she served her church in many capacities during her lifetime. While she was loved and admired by many people, her pride was her family and she engendered a tremendous mutual devotion with her grandchildren. Lucille requested cremation. A memorial service will be held at a future date at the First Presbyterian Church of Taos. The family asks that no flowers be sent, but instead donations be made to the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary (P.O. Box DD, Taos) or to the First Presbyterian Church of Taos (215 Paseo del Pueblo Norte), or to Mountain Home Healthcare (Box 2566, Taos) if people so choose.

Ruff -- Walter J. Ruff, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Monday, October 16, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Suzanne Ruff of Albuquerque; daughters, Cheri Ruff of Denver, CO, and Jeanne Robinson and husband, James of Albuquerque; son, Ricardo Ruff of Albuquerque; and grandsons, Shane and Cody. Mr. Ruff served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and retired after serving his country for 20 years. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, NCOA, and the American Legion. Mr. Ruff was the man who could make everybody laugh. Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 20, 2000, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Phoenix & Vermont, with Father Ronald Bruckner, Celebrant. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 8:00 a.m. until time of mass. Schmidt -- Patricia Mae Schmidt, 66, of Regina, NM, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at the family home. She was born January 23, 1934 and was the daughter of Pete & Lola Johanson of Ely, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton John Schmidt, Sr.; daughter, Becky Lynn Aragon; son, Clayton John Schmidt, Jr.; daughter, Millie Kay Schmidt; and gradson, Clayton Paul Schmidt. She is survived by her daughter, Lola & husband, Richard Duran of La Jara, NM; son, James"Pete" & wife, Audrey Schmidt of Llaves; daughter, Mattie & husband, Chip Suskey of Llaves; son-in-law, Richarde & wife, Diane Aragon of Turpin, OK; daughter-in-law, Terry Schmidt Crawford of Llaves; son, Delbert Montana; and daughters, Ronda Drew & Rosemary McIntosh of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by 18 grandchlidren, the Honorable Jim Eaton, Delia, Patricia, Lynn, Sonja, Derrick, Lola, Rick, Peter, Ricki Lynn, Chip, Milessia, Caylyn, Heather, Marthana, Shannon, Wayne & Dean; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harold Schmidt of Llavea; sister-in-law, Norma & husband, Mark Johnston; sister-in-law, Margaret Schmidt, both of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. She also leaves behind her white cat, Skity-O-Frity. Pat loved to ranch, to garden and her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, but most of all, she loved family gatherings. Rosary will be held this evening, October 19, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady fo Guadalupe in Gallina, New Mexico. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, October 20, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina with Father Michael Jennrich and Father Mark Granito officiating. Burial will be at the Schmidt Family Cemetery with the Honorable Jim Eaton, Chip Suskey, Jr., Peter Schmidt, Jr., Rick Duran, Derrick Shipley, Rickie Aragon, Eddie Pacheco and Antonio Gutierres as pallbearers. The honorable pallbearers are Pete Schmidt, Delbert Lodedy, Chip Suskey, Richard Duran, Richarde Aragon, Paul"Opi" Bechdal, Fran Martinez, Fay Davis, Helen Casados and Mark Johnston."Mom, Grandma; you will be greatly missed and we love you very much." Sherman -- Patsy Sherman died peacefully in her Albuquerque home on Friday, October 14, 2000. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anita Sherman of Weaverville, NC; her brother, John Winton of Moriarty, NM; her sister, Marion Bue of New Castle, WA; her God-daughter, Anne Whiteside; her oldest friend in Albuquerque, Mary Margaret Kuehne; and 12 nieces and nephews with whom she maintained a close relationship. During her long residence in Albuquerque, she made many loving and supportive friends who were a source of strength to her. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 19, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark's Church, 432 Richmond Place NE, Albuquerque, NM. Sierra -- Therese L. Sierra, 51, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and granddaughter was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 17, 2000. Ms. Sierra was a resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for the past two years. Therese was a loving and giving person who enjoyed working with children who had special needs for the past ten years; she was employed with the Rio Rancho Public Schools as an Educational Assistant. She is survived by her loving children, Marcus Sierra, Sera Sierra both of Albuquerque, and Dina Hardaway and husband, Matt of Monte Vista, CO; one granddaughter, Victoria Lynn. Also surviving are her parents, Eustacio and Marcella Padilla; one brother, Victor Padilla of Longmont, CO; two sisters, Louise Kline and Margarite Padilla both of Albuquerque; grandmother, Guadalupe Benavides; four nieces and four nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and those who loved and knew her. Visitations will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Casket bearers will be Jason Sierra, Lee Santillanas, Steven Santillanas, David Kline, Jose Leyva and Andre King. Honorary casket bearers will be Nathan Sanchez, Dan Maestas, Justin Schorr, Darryl Lithgow, Andrew Chavez and Daniel Gallegos. Simballa -- Amalia "Molly" Simballa, of Tijeras, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2000. She was born in Italy on October 13, 1908 to the late Valente and Isola Giannini. She and her parents immigrated to the United States in 1911. In 1938, Molly opened a saloon in the South Valley to provide money to care for her ailing husband, Romeo DiLallo and her new son, Romeo Jr. Romeo DiLallo died in 1946, and in 1947, Molly married Tonny Simballa. In 1948, Albert Simballa Jr. was born, and in 1951, they moved to Tijeras, where they first opened a grocery store, then opened"Molly's Bar", a famous landmark in Tijeras. She was also known as"The Marrying Judge", performing wedding ceremonies for over 2,000 couples. She is survived by her sons, Romeo DiLallo and his wife, Dianne, and Al Simballa and his wife, Jackie; five grandchildren, Richard and Ronald DiLallo, Romea Huggins, and Tony and Chris Simballa; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Melchor. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE and at Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 20, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Child followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque. Sucharda -- Rudolph Sucharda, 86, died on September 30 in Pocatello, Idaho, following an extended illness. Mr. Sucharda was born June 12, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois, University of Chicago, and University of New Mexico, eventually earning two Masters degrees in music with his principal instrument, the violin. He met Mary Ruth Waters at the University of Illinois and married her on December 31, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. Rudy Sucharda was active in many areas of music education from grade school through high school such as band, choir, and particularly orchestra, where his greatest talents were evident. This music career took him from Illinois to New Mexico, California, and Wyoming. He was instrumental in developing the Youth Symphony in Albuquerque. Following his retirement in Laramie, Wyoming, he spent many hours teaching private lessons at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sucharda and Anna Bosek Sucharda; and his wife, Mary Ruth Sucharda. Survivors include his sister, Bertha Rubino of Chicago, IL; his daughter, Sharon Ann Self and her husband, Norman Self of Pocatello, ID; his son, Charles Joseph Sucharda and his wife, Thalia Blaylock Sucharda of Billings, MT; three grandchildren, Danika Self Salmans of Laramie, WY, Derek Edvard Sucharda of Billings, MT and Tania Self Nowell of Longmont, CO; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Farley Salmans and Abigail LouAnn Salmans, both of Laramie. Following cremation in Idaho, Mr. Sucharda's ashes will be returned to earth at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyoming on October 21, 2000. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in the name of Rudolph Sucharda be made to the Symphony Association, c/o University of Wyoming Music Department, Laramie, Wyoming 82070 or any music group or organization that you may choose.
