Chavez -- Daniel C. Chavez died Saturday in Albuquerque at the age of 42. Daniel is survived by his father, Melesendro Chavez; mother, Margie Chavez; wife, Norine Chavez; son, Angelo Chavez; daughters, Renee Chavez, JoAnne Chavez and Theresa Chavez; brother, Michael Chavez and wife, Dannette; and grandchildren, Brianna, Marissa and Johanna Chavez. Funeral Services for Mr. Chavez will be held on Wednesday at Ascension Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randel Barboa, Phillip Paiz, Paul Chavez, Waylon Chavez, George Paiz and Michael Gutierrez. Clausen -- Kenneth ¯Ken¯ H. Clausen, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died on Friday, October 13, 2000. Ken is survived by his wife of 42 years, Herminia ¯Minnie¯ Clausen; son, Jimmie Ray Clausen; daughters, Sylvia Ann Clausen and Sandra Lynn LaPierre and husband, Paul all of Albuquerque; grandson, Maurice Clint Clausen and brother, Harvey Clausen and wife, Arlene of Bettendorf, IA. He was a member of the Siglo de Oro RV Club and the XYZ Senior Club. Ken retired after 24 years of service in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Bernalillo County Mental Health Center. Ken was the best father and grandfather and very loving husband. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. with Pastor Lem Boyles, officiating. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Dewsbury -- Percy Edward Dewsbury, 69, and a resident of Truth or Consequences, NM, died on October 14, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to Percy and Esther Secco Dewsbury in Churchill, MD and married Martha Gutierrez in 1992 in Truth or Consequences, NM. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Vanessa Sandoval and husband, Robert of Los Lunas, NM and Daniela Gutierrez of Truth or Consequences; and a sister Jennie Palmantori. Freidline -- Everett L. Freidline, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died on Saturday, October 14, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Freidline; sons, Roger Freidline and wife, Alice of Midland, TX and Glenn Freidline and wife, Marsha of Aztec, NM; grandsons, Greg and Eric Freidline of Midland and Dean and Scott Freiaturday, October 14, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center, Olathe. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, at the First Lutheran Church, Paola. Burial will follow the services in the Paola Cemetery, Paola, Kansas. Bertha was born June 10, 1916 in Gay Hill, Texas to Henry and Melinda Meyer. When she was eight years the family moved to a farm outside of Granite, Oklahoma where she grew up and attended high school. Bertha was united in marriage to Berthold Graumann on August 14, 1936 in Granite, Oklahoma and together they became the proud parents of one daughter, Joan. In 1945, they moved to Albuquerque where they made their home for several years before moving to Olathe, Kansas in 1998. While in Albuquerque, Bertha attended Nursing School where she received her LPN license. She worked for ten years as a Private Duty Nurse before retiring. Bertha enjoyed crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Meyer; one grandson, Joel Kluhsman and one granddaughter-in-law, Katherine Kluhsman. Survivors include her beloved husband, Berthold Graumann of Paola; her daughter, Joan Kluhsman and her husband, Merrill of Paola; sister, Erna Paul and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Paula Le Doux and her husband, mark of Espanola, NM, Nathan Kluhsman of San Diego, CA, and Mark Kluhsman of Reed Springs, MO; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Nicholas Le Doux of Espanola, NM.

Kornegay -- Viola Harris Kornegay, early pioneer of Lea County, died at age 88 on October 15, 2000 at her home in Santa Fe, where she lived the past six years. Viola was born on April 28, 1912 on the family homestead on the H-V Ranch, Lea County, New Mexico. She attended elementary school in nearby Highway School and high school in Tatum. Viola married Raymond Coffey Kornegay on December 20, 1930 at the H-V Ranch. Their first home was a small tent on the nearby Kornegay farm. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico Junior College in 1938 with an Associate of Arts degree and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1952. Viola began her teaching career at Harroun Farm School in Eddy County in 1943. She later taught in Carlsbad, Tatum, and retired in Roswell, New Mexico in 1974. Viola was preceded in death by her father, Harve Harris in 1965; her mother, Naomi Hagar Harris in 1988; her son, Alvin Duane in 1932; her husband, R.C. Kornegay in 1964; and her daughter, Cheryl Diane in 1966. She is survived by her son, Clinton Durwood Kornegay and wife, Rosalind of Providence, RI; daughter, Yuvonnia Ilene Kornegay Owen and husband, Aubrey Owen of Abiquiu, NM; granddaughter, Reins Owen DeMartino and husband, Thomas DeMartino of Albuquerque; grandson, Dan Kornegay Owen of Salta Lake City, UT; grandson, Paul Rainey Owen and wife, Shirley of Santa Fe; grandson, Derek Kornegay of Providence, RI; and great-grandchildren, Guiseppe and Lucia DeMartino, Morgan Owen and Erin and Rachel Owen. Margo -- Gus"Kostas" Margo died October 16, 2000 at the age of 71. He was born on September 14, 1929 in Kalamata, Greece, where he served as an officer in the Greek Army. He became a U.S. citizen shortly after arriving here in 1964 and has since lived in Albuquerque. He managed several restaurants in Albuquerque before developing his own real estate and appraisal firm. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Vena Margo and Lena Eddings; son-in-law, Scott Eddings; grandchildren, Ariana Jo and Jak Eddings; his sister, Katherine Argyres; as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends. He is remembered as a husband, father, and Papou whose love and spirit goes deeper than anything we have ever known. He made a difference to everyone who knew him. A Trisagion service will be performed on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High Street SE. Perlmutter -- Lorraine J. Perlmutter, 55, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ed Perlmutter of Albuquerque; sister, Arlene Bordone and husband, Wayne of Morganville, NJ; nieces, Courtney, indsey, and Kara, and her beloved dogs, Bonnie, Clyde, Amy, Abby and Honey. She was a clinical pediatric psychologist, a staunch advocate for children, and recognized for her honesty, directness and caring. She was known for her contagious laugh and irrepressible sense of humor. Lorraine will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. A celebration of life to share Lorraine stories will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Rasmussen -- Harold Arnold Rasmussen, 74, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 30 years, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2000. Harold was born on July 3, 1926, the son of Carl S. and Aurora Nielson in Delafield, Wisconsin. He had been a Sales Manager for the W.W. Steel Co. and a General Manager for Wilbanks Steel for 20 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Rasmussen, Jr. Harold is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Rio Rancho; four children, Sandy Back of Rio Rancho, Rita Heindel and Allan of Hurst, TX, David Rasmussen and Sandy of Rio Rancho, Debbie Housey of Rio Rancho and Rick of Bernalillo; two sisters, Margaret Mehling of Waukesha, WI, Jane Ruenger and Gene of Whitewater, WI; one brother, Carl Rasmussen and Marie of Waukesha, WI; five grandchildren, Krys Lewis, Erik Rasmussen, Jerod Rasmussen, Keri Heindel, and Scott Housey; two great-grandchildren, Haegan and Delaney Lewis. Sanchez -- Ophelia Sisneros Sanchez, 86 1/2, a lifelong resident of the State of New Mexico, and a loving mother and grandmother, died in Albuquerque on Tuesday, October 3, following a long illness. She was born in Alcalde, NM on March 25, 1914. Preceding her in death were her husband, Augustine J. Sanchez; her parents; her brothers and sisters. For four months she was a widow. She's the last of her immediate family! While in Alcalde they were very close to the United Brethren in Christ Church and Mission School. There she learned to be a and become church pianist and also served as Church Sunday and Vacation Bible School teacher. They grew to love and serve the church! So much so that when they moved from Alcalde they enrolled and left their oldest son at the Mission School to room and board and attend school with teachers, Misses Langdon and Shaefer! Big influences on their lives were the late missionary, Lula M. Clippinger, dear friend, Ethel G. Davis and the Reverend Doctor Nichols who married them in the Vallecitos Evangelical United Brethren Mission Church where Lula was then serving. She became very much a helpmate to her beloved husband to whom she was married for over 70 years. Early on she worked in the Alcalde Ranch and then as substitute for the Rio Arriba County Schools. And not only did she raise five children and adopt two, but she also worked, along with him, in a dude ranch, a dairy and drive-in. Then not only did they come to supply and serve in several Northern New Mexico Mission Churches, but she served as pianist and leader of the Spanish Services group associated with Santa Cruz Evangelical United Brethren Church now Santa Cruz United Methodist Church. Along with her husband, she was also appointed to serve as Home Missionary by the then National Division of the Board of Missions of the Evangelical United Brethren Church to McCurdy Mission School. She is survived by three sons, The Reverend Harold and spouse Audelia of Albuquerque, Frankie and spouse, Carolina of Espanola, Carlos and spouse, Pat of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Florencia Howe of NYC, NY, Edith O'Farrell and spouse, Dale of Tijeras; two adopted sons, Delano Santa Fe, and Loel and spouse, Debra of Los Angeles, CA; and some 25 grandchildren, the same number of great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Services were held in the Espanola Valley at 6:0 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, with Funeral on Friday, October 6. Interment was that day at Loma Vista United Methodist Cemetery in Alcalde in the cross section reserved for home missionaries. In death too, like her spouse, she returned to be buried next to the mission location of the then known Alcalde United Brethren in Christ Mission Church where she was a member and served for many years!

Sciumbato -- Anne M. Sciumbato, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend, went to see the Lord on October 16, 2000. Mrs. Sciumbato had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1951. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and will be laid to rest next to her husband of 35 years, Nick Sciumbato, Sr. She is loved and will be missed by her brothers, Toni Costa and Dominic Costa; and her children and grandchildren, Gabriel Sciumbato and wife, Pat and their son, Anthony, his wife, Allyson and his daughter, Peyton; Nick Scuimbato, Jr. and wife, Clyda and their daughter, Averill; Mary Sciumbato and her son, Nicholas; Joanna Lewis and husband, Jay and their children, Brandon, Heather and John; Theresa Crystal Sciumbato; and Carmela Richardson and husband, Terry and her children, Jimmy and Joseph Eastman. Mrs Scuimbato was preceded in death by her brothers, Alex, Johnny and Joe; and her sisters, Josephine, Frances and Mame. Mrs Scuimbato was a active member of the Highland Senior Center where she did volunteer work. She also enjoyed flowers and especially loved working in her rose garden. Shull -- James W. Shull, Sr., 62, a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years, died Saturday, October 14, 2000. He is survived by his son, James W. Shull, Jr. and wife, Christen; daughter, Kathryn A. Shull; three grandchildren, Olivia, Lauren and Austin; mother of his children, Louise Bland and husband, Raymond, all of Albuquerque; half-sister, Norma Moberly of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Beginning at age 25, Jim designed and built many beautiful adobe homes in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Jim Sr. loved to river raft and ski with his children in France. Torres -- Luis "Shorty" Torres, 68, passed away October 14, 2000. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, he was a service station attendant and auto mechanic. He loved his family and music. Vallejos -- Alejandro (Alex) Vallejos, 78, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 14, 2000. Mr. Vallejos was born in Punta de Agua, NM to the late Francisco and Maria Inez Vallejos; he was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served his county during World War II; and enjoyed spending time with his loving family. Mr. Vallejos was preceded in death by a son, Frank Vallejos. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Esther Vallejos of the family home; his loving children, Alfredo Vallejos and wife, Rachel of Socorro, NM, Miquela Vallejos, Mary Alice Baca, Berna Garcia, Merlinda Mirabal and husband, Eddie, Yvonne Toledo and husband, Gilbert, Gracious Romero and husband, Jimmy, Alex Vallejos Jr., Peter Vallejos, Debbie Vallejos and Caroline Vallejos; 61 precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Maria V. Chacon; nieces; and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Williams -- Harlan A. Williams, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Patty Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ; sons, Pete Williams and wife, Laurie, and Joe Williams all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Geoff Eaton and wife, Shelly, of Fountain Hills, AZ, Greg Williams, Matt Williams, and Shawn Williams, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Jessica Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ and Sarah Williams of Albuquerque; and great grandson, Jett Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ. Harlan was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Williams. Our dad grew up on a farm in Daysville, Illinois. As a student he enjoyed basketball, football, sailing and fishing. In July of 1941, he enlisted in the Navy. During his 10 years of military service he served in many capacities ranging from boatswain¯s mate to gunnery mate. During World War II he served on many of the great ships including the USS Brooklyn, the USS New Jersey and finally the USS Braine. While still in service he married the former Rose M. Maniscalco of Boston, MA his loving wife of 40 years. The life of operating heavy equipment and creating new roads and bridges in the southwest was the opportunity he was looking for and so he moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1957. In 1964, he became part owner and operator of Crane Service of New Mexico where he established himself as one of the finest Crane Operators in the Southwest. Upon his retirement in 1984, he took an active interest in the VFW 401 and the American Legion Post 99 where again he enjoyed the camaraderie of his Veteran brothers. He lived the last 6 years of his life at the Encino House-Midtown where he made many good friends who will miss his sense of humor and willingness to always help another. Our dad loved to laugh, loved good conversation, loved his Louis LaMour novels and his bourbon and water. He loved his family, his friends and his country and he will be missed by all of us who had the opportunity to know and love him. Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at 12:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd, NE, with Rick Donaho, Officiating. Pallbearers will be: Shawn Williams, Matt Williams, Pete Williams, Greg Williams, Joe Williams and Geoff Eaton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Larry Young and Bob Brown.
