He is survived by his wife, Vickie Baker of Albuquerque; sons, Danny Baker, Vernon Baker, Sidney Baker, Jr.; daughter, Dianne Molina; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother, all of Ohio. Mr. Baker was a US Army Veteran. he worked as a bodyman at various body shops in the Albuquerque area for the past 30 years. Benn -- Gayle Louise Kellogg Benn, 40, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 28 years, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2000 following a brief illness. Gayle was a generous and giving person who always put others before herself and she touched the lives of many in small and large ways. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Harriet E. Casaus -- Alfredo A. Casaus, born December 15, 1923, an Armed Services veteran, retired from the City of Albuquerque, and Past Commander of American Legion, Post 100, passed away on September 27, 2000. He is survived by his loving wife, Angie Casaus; four sons, Alfredo Casaus, Jr; Michael and his wife, Isabel, Steve and his wife, Johanna, David and his wife, Sandra; four daughters, Anna Marie, Lucille and her husband, Robert West, Angela and her husband, Kenneth Osborne, Juliette and her husband, Christopher Chavez and Jan Dispennette and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters and one brother. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2000 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Cummings -- Don J. Cummings passed away September 25, 2000 in Grand Junction, Colorado after a short illness. He was born in Ames, Oklahoma on May 6, 1920. He was married in 1943 to Neva M. Paine in Oklahoma. He worked in the World War II effort in Hartford, Washington. From there he worked in the construction of Los Alamos Laboratories. Then in 1955, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque to open a business, supplying building materials to contractors. His corporation, Don J. Cummings Co., was subsequently sold to his son, Bob, who renamed it Commercial Door and Hardware. Don, with his wife, Neva, retired to Colorado in 1977. Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife, Neva Cummings of Gunnison, CO; his son, Bob Cummings of Phoenix, AZ; and his daughter, Judy Smith and husband, Warren of Sacramento, CA. He is also survived by two brothers, Millard Cummings of Enid, OK, Verlin Cummings of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bernice Cummings; one brother, Alfred Cummings; and one sister, Neva Neal. There will be a memorial service at Gunnison Community Church in Gunnison, Colorado on Thursday, September 28, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. There will be a final memorial service, October 21, 2000 in Enid, Oklahoma. Cremation was done by Callahan-Edfast Mortuary of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Dickinson -- Carol A. Dickinson, 63, of Albuquerque, died peacefully among family on September 25, 2000, after nearly twenty years of courageous struggle against chronic illness. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, George; her sister, Mary; her son Bill and his wife, Kim, son David, and son Jim; her stepdaughter, Debbie and her husband, Robert, stepdaughter, Laurie, stepdaughter, Joanie, and stepdaughter, Katie; her niece, Cathy and her husband, Rob, niece, Lynn, and her husband, Mike, and niece, Alma; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a warm community of beloved friends. Carol taught first grade at Adobe Acres Elementary School for many years before poor health forced her early retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister; a strong, wise, and generous friend; a gifted and energetic educator, artist, and musician who warmed and lit the many lives she touched; and a person of deep faith, humility, courage, and unfailing humor. Carol's wish that her remains be cremated has been honored. Memorial will take place at the Heights Club, 8520 Marble NE, on Sunday, October 1, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider making gifts to the Heights Club, Inc., or to the Presbyterian Hospital Hospice program. Carol, we thank God for the gifts of your love and wisdom throughout our lives, and we are grateful that your suffering is over. Somewhere you are laughing and dancing again, and your joy in life will always be part of each of us who have loved you.

Engelbrith -- MARGARITA"SIS" ENGELBRITH Born: August 15, 1934 Died: September 24, 2000During the early morning hours of Sunday,"Margie" Engelbrith, a widow, sister, mother, and most importantly, a grandmother, died in her daughter's home; a deeply loved woman. She will no longer be afraid. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Engelbrith. Erickson -- Viola R. Erickson, age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died at her home, Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in June of 1996; son, Roy, in December of 1994; great-grandson, Scott, in May of 2000; great-grandson, Adam, in February of 1992; daughter-in-law, Donna, in January of 2000; and brother, Walter Jacobson, in July of 2000 Mrs. Erickson is survived by five sons, Donald Erickson and wife, Anita, David Erickson and wife, Carol, Harold Erickson and wife, Joyce, Raymond Erickson, Byron Erickson, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Erickson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Franzmeier -- Howard W. Franzmeier, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence L. Franzmeier of Albuquerque and William E. Franzmeier and wife, Rose of Seattle, WA; daughter, Gail A. Hamblet and husband, Albert, III of Tijeras; granddaughter, Terra Lynn Goldberg and husband, Jeffrey of Los Lunas; four grandsons, Eric Jackson and wife, Carol of New Orleans, LA, Cory Franzmeier of Seattle, WA, Albert Hamblet, IV of Albuquerque and Adam Hamblet of Tijeras and one great-granddaughter. Mr. Franzmeier was a member of the Elks Lodge and Sombra del Monte Christian Church. Both he and his late wife, Elberta were long time volunteers at the Veterans Hospital. Gonzalez -- Louis W. ¯Lou¯ Gonzalez, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, September 24, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Catalina Gonzalez of Albuquerque; sons, Louis Gonzalez, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Mario Gonzalez and wife, Sylvia of Albuquerque and Juan Gonzalez of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Sarah and Amanda; sister, Josephine Combs of Lake Elizabeth, CA, sister-in-law, Michelle Maytorena of Albuquerque and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Louis was born May 4th 1921 in Chihuahua Mexico and in 1923 moved to Los Angeles California. Lou attended Elementary and High Schools in California and studied Law at U.S.C. He was inducted into the army in 1942 and in February 1943, while in the service, he became an American citizen. Lou served overseas in the Pacific arena and in 1946, holding the rank of Sergeant, he was honorably discharged from the US Army. After a successful career in insurance and sales, he joined the United States Veterans Administration. He worked for Uncle Sam in Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, and from there was transferred to New Mexico. He served as veteran's benefits specialist and rose to Chief of the Veterans Service Division and retired in May of 1985. After this, Lou volunteered at the V.A. hospital as a part-time employee with the V.F.W., then coming out of retirement, became a full-time employee from 1995- 1997. Becoming a Mason in 1977, he served as Worshipful Master of Temple Lodge #6, past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of NM, most illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal & Select Masters of N.M., Grand King of the Royal Arch Masons of NM, Past Sovereign of the Red Cross of Constantine, past Master, Lodge of Research, Grand Governor of Sovereign College of North America, Scottish Rites, Shriners. In the Scottish Rite, he was coroneted with the 33rd degree. Louis was instrumental in securing funding to those in need of medical services from the Eye Foundation. The focus of his life after retirement was in community service with the following organizations: President of American Red Cross, Olsten Health Services, La Zarzuela de Alburquerque; Vice-President of the Lions Club; Board Member of Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Private Industry Council, March of Dimes; and member of AMVETS Post #7, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2951, and American Legion Post #99. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, 7:00p.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, 10:00a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior. Interment of cremains will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30p.m. Friends may view beginning today at 6:30p.m. at Church of the Risen Savior. Kingston -- Mettie C. Kingston, 95, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2000 in Bowie, MD at her grandson's home where she had been living the past three years. Ms. Kingston, a native of Fulton, KY, came to Albuquerque in 1924 with her husband, David H. Kingston, and had been a resident since that time. In addition to her grandson, Bill Kingston of Bowie, MD, her immediate family members include Sharon Watkins of Rockport, TX; three great-grandchildren, Michelle Brandt, Anthony Watkins and Christopher Watkins; and two great-great-grandchildren, Michael Brandt and Reiney Brandt. She is also survived by her brother, former U.S. Rep. E.S. (Johnny) Walker of Albuquerque. Mrs. Kingston was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lew Wallace Chapter; Daughters of the Nile; Eastern Star; and PEO, Chapter V. She was also a member of the Central United Methodist Church and assisted in founding its Friendly Bible Class. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2000. Pallbearers are Richard Steele, William Marten, Clemens Charlatan, Ernest Lopez, and Milton Godwin. John Marshall is an Honorary Pallbearer. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Lucero -- John G. Lucero, 83, beloved father and grandfather was called home Monday, September 25, 2000. Mr. Lucero was born in Las Vegas, NM to the late John G. Sr. and Ella Lucero; he was a resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; a member of the St. Vicente de Paul Society and of the Meat Cutters Union. He is survived by his loving daughter, Anna Padilla Morgan of Albuquerque; his precious grandchildren, Lawrence Padilla, Rita Raley, Marie Padilla, Cecilia Padilla, Lorretta Padilla, Yvonne Ulibarri, and Brandy Lucero; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Raley, Antonio, John Paul and Simon Ulibarri, Jason, Justin and Rachel Padilla. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Matthews -- Nichole Matthews, 26, a resident of Rio Rancho. Mclynch -- Constance "Connie" McLynch, resident of New Mexico since 1977, died September 26, 2000 in St. Joseph's Hospital. Negus -- Raymond L. ¯Red¯ Negus, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Thelma Foster of Albuquerque and Mary Lou Bierman and husband, Dick of Muscatine, IA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Negus was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie L. Negus; and daughter, Betty Jean Musgraves. He retired after 25 years with Sandia National Laboratories. Ortiz -- Carolina (Carrie) G. Ortiz, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away at the age of 84, on Monday September 25, 2000. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Causus; three sons, Herman, Eddie, and George Ortiz; and a brother, Max Gonzales of Placitas, NM. Mrs. Ortiz is survived by her loving husband, Arthur M. Ortiz Sr., four sons, Arthur P. Ortiz Jr. and wife, Rose, Ernest Ortiz and wife, Jessie, Albert Ortiz and wife, Sadie, and John Ortiz all of Albuquerque, two daughters, Mary L. Bonillo and husband, Vincent of Belen, and Alice Vigil and husband, Elmer of Helper, Utah. Also surviving are two sisters, Cecilia Gonzales of Placitas, and Lucaria Moya of Albuquerque; a brother, Juan Gonzales and wife, Lala of Albuquerque; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ortiz taught grade school in Placitas, NM, she loved cooking, raising her children, and helping others, she was a member of The Christian Apostolic Church in Placitas, and Albuquerque. She will be truly missed by all. A Funeral Service will be held this morning at 10:00am at The Christian Apostolic Center at 122 Broadway SE, in Albuquerque. Interment will follow at Las Huertas land grant Cemetery in Placitas. Pallbearers will be Anthony Ortiz, Louis Ortiz, John Ortiz Jr., Chris Ortiz, Raymond Moya, and Pat Moya. Plunkett -- G. John Plunkett, left this life September 26, 2000. He was born in Barton, VT in 1924. A longtime San Francisco resident before moving to Albuquerque 5 years ago to be near his sister, Olive P. Moses and the extended family including his nieces, Joanne Moses Bagley and Alice Moses Waskow who preceded him in death. Proud to be an alum of Hamilton College and received the Bronze Star as an Army Messenger during WWII. Arrangements are being made through Sunrise Society of NM. Rivera -- Louis U. Rivera, 80 and a resident of Silverdale, WA, died on September 24, 2000 in Bremerton, WA. He was born in Tularosa, NM to Ramon and Mary Rivera and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1993 and a son Robert Rivera. He is survived by a son, Louis Rivera, Jr. of Los Alamos, NM; daughters, Joan Clark of Buchanan, MI and Yvonne Rivera of Silverdale, WA; a brother, Raymond Rivera of Los Lunas, NM; a sister, Nellie Young of Las Vegas, NV; and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 5:00 to 7:00 PM followed by Rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque. Ross -- Leland A. Ross, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Monday, September 25, 2000. Mr. Ross is survived by his daughter, Cheryl A. Garcia of Albuquerque; sisters, Lois Kramer of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Helen Fritz of Chula Vista, CA; former son-in-law, Premetivo A. Garcia of Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marie Ross. Mr. Ross is a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Columbus Junction, Iowa. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment of cremains will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Shoger -- Margaret Elizabeth Shoger, age 89, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at Village Manor Care Center. She was born January 8, 1911 at Waverly, KS, the daughter of James Price and Blanche Leone (Palmer) Waring. She grew up in Ottawa and attended Ottawa schools, graduating from Ottawa High School in 1929. She then completed Nurses' Training at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. On July 26, 1931, she was united in marriage to Milton"Dale" Shoger in Kansas City, Missouri. They shared over 54 years of married life together before the death of Mr. Shoger on September 13, 1985. She resided with her husband in the Kansas City, Kansas area and worked as a nurse for various physicians in the Kansas City area before her husband was transferred to Albuquerque in 1949. She worked as a nurse in the obstetric's department at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque for many years until her retirement. She moved back to the Ottawa area from Albuquerque in 1987. She was a current member of the First Christian Church in Ottawa and a former member of the First Christian Church in Albuquerque, where she had been a youth leader for many years. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; the General Edward Hand Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Happy Homemakers Club; the Ottawa Oasis Club; and the Just Friends Club. Surviving family include a brother-in-law, Herb Johnson of Ottawa; one nephew, Tom Johnson of Blue Springs, MO; cousins, Dick Shoger of Lyons, KS, Martha Pennington of Kansas City, MO, Dorothy and Ford Waring of Great Falls, MT and Cloyce Palmer of Fairfield, IA. Mrs. Shoger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sisters, Mary K. Johnson on December 28, 1995; and an infant brother, Robert Leonard Waring. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2000, at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Fred Schaeffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Princeton Cemetery. Mrs. Shoger will lie in state after 9:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., Friday until the service hour. Tabet -- Chris A. Tabet, 37, a resident of El Cerro Loop, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome and a charter member of the Elk Lodge of Belen. Chris was an avid supporter of the Los Lunas Young Athletics League, always being there for our youth. He was well known as an area businessman, owning and operating Tabet Trucking Co. and Los Lunas Sand & Gravel. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Laura Hadaway; paternal grandfather, Joe Tabet and his brother-in-law, Dennis Torres, both in 1999; and one niece, Trinity Sloan. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Cindy A., of the family home; three precious children who were the love of his life, Clinton Anthony, Craig Addison, and Cayla Ashley; his parents, Herman and Betty Tabet of Belen; three brothers, Jim Sloan of Belen, Larry Tabet and his wife, Kelly, of Los Lunas; and Jay Tabet and his wife, Brenda, of Belen; one sister, Debbie Tabet of Las Cruces; paternal grandmother, Lily Tabet of Belen; sister-in-laws, Sylvia Torres, Theresa Landavazo and husband, Fred; Lisa Bustamante and husband, Rodney, Tina Baca and husband, Chris; brother-in-laws, Raymond Aragon and wife, Yolanda, Christopher and Dallas Hawks; mother-in-law, Dolores Hawks; father-in-law, Leroy Bustamante and his wife, Sydney; and his godchildren, Tera Landavazo and Keith Hershfield. Chris is also survived by his many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Viewing will take place on Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen with Interment following in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marcos Torres, Carrie Chavez, Tony Chavez, Larry Feight, Robert Tabet, Matthew Otero, Frederico Landavazo IV, and Robert Vigil. Tavenner -- Cynthia "Cindy" Lynn Walters Tavenner, 36, Beloved wife of Michael A. Tavernner, was taken too early from a family that loved her dearly. She passed away at her home Sunday, September 24, 2000. She was born to Richard and Barbara"Bobbi" (Heron) Walters July 14, 1969 in Encino CA. A resident of Moriarty, NM, Cindy was Co-Owner of Tavenners Towing & Recovery of Moriarty. Cindy had a love for animals, especially cats, music and laughter. She always went out of her way to offer food and shelter to people in need. She leaves behind her beloved 4 year old daughter Ashley Marie of the home.
