Astorino -- Thomas Blasius Astorino, 71, a resident of Sandia Park since 1981, died Friday, September 8, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Astorino; daughters, Lynette Adams of Cottonwood, AZ and Gina Glantz and husband, David T. of Danville, CA, Cheryl Briones and husband, Louie of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Steven, Katie, Janet, and Matthew; sisters, Mary Rose McCuin, Edith Rost, Genevieve Jones, and Florence Ruskey; brothers, Frank Audia, and John Astorino, Jr.; and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Astorino was born in Utah on February 4, 1929, and joined the United States Navy at the age of 14. He worked in mining for several years and raised his family in the San Francisco Bay area. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, working on home projects and swing dancing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of Holy Child Catholic Church. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rosary will be recited at Holy Child Catholic Church on Monday, September 11, 2000, 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Jose Escandon officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at Holy Child Catholic Church, with Father John Carney, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Bachicha -- Roman"Raymond" Bachicha died Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Maria"Tina" Martinez; three sons, Reymundo Anthony Bachicha, and wife, Charlene of Albuquerque, Walter Tomas Bachicha of Alameda, California, and Isaiah Ortiz of Albuquerque; five daughters, Margaret H. Bachicha, Mona Bachicha, Marlene Placencio and husband, Ruben, Dolores Sandoval and Lori Montoya all of Albuquerque; two brothers, Tomas Bachicha and wife, Cecilia of Santa Fe, and Fred Bachicha of Albuquerque; three sisters, Elizabeth Holiday of San Francisco, California, Sally Chavez and Helen Caire and Buddy of Albuquerque; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St SW, a Rosary will be recited tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons.

Batchelor -- Frank Batchelor, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away on September 7, 2000. He was born March 28, 1915 in Duluth, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Helen (Hornbeck) Batchelor. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Curran of Albuquerque Mr. Batchelor was a warehouseman, retiring first from Sandia National Labs in 1973, then from the Defense Nuclear Agency in 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE. Carter -- Eugene F. Carter, 77, died on Saturday, September 9, 2000 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Carter Brinkley; step-son, Eric Redick and wife, Wendy; his wife, Audrey Yoos Carter, and her son, Mark Yoos and wife, Marsha and their children; her son, Craig and wife, Cheryl, and their children of New Hampshire; brother, Tilmon J. Carter and wife, Nancy; nephews, Dr. J. Dan Carter and wife, Barbara, W. Don Carter and wife, Jaime, all of Lufkin, TX; niece, Carolyn Bell and husband, Mike of Bellaire, TX; five great-nephews; five great-nieces and one great-great-niece and many dear cousins. Eugene was born in Prescott, AZ on July 2, 1923. He moved with his family to Houston, TX in 1928. Following his graduation from Reagan High School in 1941, he attended electronics school and then worked for KTRH radio for 5 years and then moved to Albuquerque and joined KOB radio. After an FBI clearance, he began a 38 year career as a staff associate in the engineering section as Sandia Labs. Gene was a multi-talented person who not only had great expertise in electronics, but also was a master craftsman who built his own beautiful home. He was a HAM radio operator who talked and made friends with people all over the world. Gene was an active member of the University Church of Christ in Albuquerque, and his honesty, compassion, gentleness, kindness and soft-spoken manner exemplified the fine Christian man that he was. He was predeceased by his parents, J.D. and Stella Starnes Carter; his first wife, Lyndall Baker Carter and his second wife, Karoline Redick Carter. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE with Reverend Mike Manley, officiating. Interment will take place in Bluff City, AR. Carvajal -- Anita L. Carvajal, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 8, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Carvajal and wife, Diane, Craig Carvajal, David Carvajal, Eliot Carvajal and wife, Yvonne and Dan Harris; grandchildren, Daniel and Catherine Carvajal; brother, Donald Rojas and wife, Cheryl. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Carvajal in 1991. She began her career as a nurse anesthethist working at various hospitals in Albuquerque. Later, Anita joined her husband's law practice as a paralegal. She also helped as a substitute teacher for disabled students in the Albuquerque Public School system. Anita loved gardening, skiing, traveling, and cooking. She will be remembered as a vibrant person who was full of life. Frazee -- Lena M. Frazee, age 76 and a life long resident of Belen, died on Saturday, September 9, 2000 following an illness. Mrs. Frazee is survived by two sisters, Barbara Ortiz of Belen, Rose Aragon and her husband, John, also of Belen; four brothers, Henry Jaramillo Jr. and his wife, Elsie of Belen, Gillie Jaramillo and his wife, Maryann of Los Lunas, Alfonso Jaramillo and his wife, Theresa of Belen, and Jerry Jaramillo and his wife, Nury of Los Lunas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mrs. Frazee was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Belen where she was very very active. Murtagh -- Margaret Mary (Peggy) Murtagh, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Friday, September 8, 2000. Peggy was born October 17, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York and was the wife to the late John Joseph Murtagh, Jr. since September 7, 1952. She's the mother of five children, Patti and husband, Mel Rains, Anne Murtagh, Robert Murtagh all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael Murtagh and Peggy, John Murtagh and Kelli, of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She retired after 35 years of civil service to Federal Government in 1997. At Kirtland A.F.B. Peggy was a Resource Manager for AFOTEC and received numerous awards for outstanding contributions and meritorious service. Peggy also worked at Nellis AFB, Nevada for 15 years as a budget analyst. She is a lifetime member of the Association of Women Comptrollers. She was known for her dedication to her country throughout the military and civil service communities. Peggy devoted her life to God, her husband, and her family. As a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also performed numerous hours of public service as a member of the Citizens Review Board for the City of Albuquerque and the Women's Auxillary of Disabled American Veterans. Peggy's lifetime adventures began as a flight attendant in the early days for American Airlines, 2nd runner up as Miss New York 1951, and traveling during her husbands of 30 years of service with the Air Force. Before her passing, Peggy expressed her love and appreciation for all her friends, both new and old, her joy and gratefulness of a wonderful and fulfilling life. After a battle with cancer, Peggy passed peacefully at home with family, friends and pets around her. Peggy and her family wish to thank Dr. Victor Vigil and staff, the nurses at St. Josephs Hospital 10th Floor, neighbors, friends, and co-workers for their prayers, thoughtfulness and kindness during this difficult time. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, September 12th, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd NW. Padilla -- Mr. Lorenzo J. Padilla Sr., 42, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 9, 2000 with his loved ones at his side. Lorenzo is survived by the mother of his children, Helen Angel; three daughters, Jeanette Angel, Christina Angel and Joyce Angel and fiance, Gerald Cavalier; three sons, Johnathan Angel and wife, Yvonne, Phillip Angel and Lorenzo Angel-Padilla Jr.; his parents, Jose and Mary Padilla; eight sisters, Mary Wang, Juanita Avent, Connie Padilla, Maria Lambert and husband, Jeff, Sofia Padilla and Ben Marquez, Debbie Padilla, Andrea Padilla and Bill Walker and Antoinette Sanchez and Billy Sanchez; six brothers, John Padilla and wife, Anna, Jose Padilla and Sandy, Manuel Padilla and Shirley, Jude Padilla and Becky, Thomas Padilla and Jennifer and Daniel Padilla and fiance, Roxanne; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Prentiss -- Deacon Richard Craig Prentiss, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2000. Dick Prentiss was born in Illinois on December 31, 1932, and raised in the Panama Canal Zone. In 1954 he graduated from Amherst College, Massachusetts, and entered the United States Air Force. As a career officer, he received notable recognition for distinguished service. He served in Vietnam. After 28 years he retired a Lt. Colonel. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe on June 6, 1986. Deacon Dick served as assistant to the chaplain at KAFB and was involved in numerous local and national community organizations. In 1999, he earned his Master of Arts in Theology from St. John's University, Minnesota. At the time of his death he was coordinating the Diaconate Foundation Program for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Mr. Prentiss is survived by his children, Claire M. Croft and husband, James of Virginia, Susan P. Prentiss-Kurosu of New Mexico, Jennifer F. Prentiss and husband, Robert Rivera of New Mexico, Stephen C. Prentiss and wife, Robin of Washington, Elizabeth J. Robbins and husband, Marvin of Arizona, Kathleen A. Arman and husband, John of Colorado, Lucy B. Prentiss of New Mexico; and their mother, Mary P. Prentiss; 19 grandchildren; sister Sally P. Sargent. Mr. Prentiss was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Kathleen Prentiss. Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 11, 10:00 a.m., preceding the mass. Roos -- Lois Tilley Roos, a resident of Bernalillo since 1973, died at her home in Bernalillo on Thursday, September 7, 2000. She is survived by Homer, her husband of 55 years; her son, Joe and his wife, Sheryl of Rio Rancho; and various other family members. Interment is at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, in Rio Rancho (Sara Road at Meadowlark Lane). Skeean -- Lenora E. Skeean, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2000. She was born in Worcester, MA and had lived in Albuquerque the last 40 years. She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. She was born on her grandma's birthday; beautiful baby girl. Gerald Paul is 20 months old and our Dennis the Menace, he doesn't talk much, but sure gets his message across; his cousins call him"Dentist", I guess that is what they think we call him. Tatiana is our chatter box like her Auntie Trinnie, she takes dance classes and loves them. Tomas started kindergarten this year at St. Charles and loves school, they say he has a harem - as the girls like him. Fernando went to Phoenix with us all and he said he had a good time. Your son Nep is following in your footsteps, driving for Yellow and Gerald; is at his dream job at ABF. Tom and Charlotte were just married seven years and bought a new house. Lucretia is living, working, and teaching in Flagstaff.
