Adkins -- Betty Louise Adkins, age 74, resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away suddenly at home on July 9, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Whitney; mother, Macel Whitney; and sister, Mary Jane Cottrell. Betty married her high school sweetheart, George L. Adkins Jr. on July 12, 1945 in Seth, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, George of the family home; sister, Georgia Kelly of Hurricane, WV; and brother, Cecil Eugene Whitney of North Augusta, SC; one son, Lawrence Adkins and wife, Pam; two daughters, Barbara Stetz and husband, Bob and Deborah Kollander; five grandchildren, James D. Baca, Michael Kollander and wife, April, Nathan Kollander, Amber M. Adkins, Danielle L. Adkins; and one great-granddaughter, Meryssa Lynn Kollander. Betty was a full-time homemaker who devoted her life to her home, family and friends. She was"Gramma" to all, and never failed to quietly listen and unconditionally love. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 15, 1:00 p.m., at University Village mobile home park clubhouse to celebrate Betty's life.

Burge -- David Burge, 45, a resident of Albuquerque for most of his life, died Friday, July 7, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jada Mae Langloss; children, Jacob, John, Bonnie, Rochelle and Joshua Burge, Crystal Calhoun and Sagesse Graham; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Leon Burge; parents, Donald and Norma Burge; brother, Stephen Burge and wife, Jean; sister, Pamela Gutierres and husband, Tony; grandmother, Bessie Laney; nieces and nephews, Kay and Daniel Burge and Angela and Michael Gutierres; and uncle, Michael Laney and wife, Melody. David had a love for the mountains, especially the Manzanos. He also enjoyed woodworking. Dickson -- Thomas"Tom" Alan Dickson, 39, longtime resident of Las Cruces, departed this life to be with his heavenly Father, Monday, July 10, 2000. Born April 4, 1961 in El Paso, Texas to John C. and Ophelia Dominguez Dickson. Tom was a member of La Corporacion de Los Indigenes de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe. At the time of his passing, Tom was a student at New Mexico State University where he was pursuing a degree in Business and worked as an aide in the computer lab. Survivors include his parents, John C. and Ophelia Dominguez Dickson of the family home; one brother, John Michael Dickson and his wife, Pandra and their children, Brandon and Remington, all of Wendell, NC; one sister, Patricia Ann Dickson of Albuquerque. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Emet Dickson; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Narvaez. Visitation for Tom will be Friday, July 14, 2000, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the West Chapel of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, July 15, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas with the Reverend Manuel Ibarra, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Brandon Dickson, Sal Rosales Jr., Lee Michael Buckman, Frank Narvaez, Miguel Parra and Patrick Narvaez. Eagan -- Kenneth B. Eagan, 44, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2000, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. His educational and occupational background during his life included surveying, special education, mental health, computer, and electronic technology. Most recently, he was involved in parenting and volunteerism. A private family memorial service will be held. He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Eagan. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Eagan; son, Kevin Eagan; mother, Dena Eagan; brother, Steve Eagan and wife, Deborah; brother, John Eagan; sister-in-law, Cheryl Eagan, all of Albuquerque. Sister, Patrice O'Brien and husband, Patrick of Mount Vernon, WA also survive him. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Tom Gibb of Denver, CO; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Pat Gibb of Scottsdale, AZ; uncle, James Eagan of Eureka, CA, aunt, Julie Eagan of Carmichael, CA, uncle and aunt, Lowell and Orena Postma of Amarillo, TX; five nieces and nephews; and multiple cousins. Eytcheson -- Nathan W. Eytcheson, 88, a resident of Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area for the past 46 years, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2000. Nathan was born May 16, 1912 the son of Nathan C. and Abbie Lenbom Eytcheson in Duluth, Minnesota. He had been a pattern maker for the Sandia National Laboratories before retiring. He was a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge in Duluth, Minnesota, the Rio Rancho Elks Lodge #2500, and the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. Nathan is survived by his wife Ann of Rio Rancho; two children, Mimi Neamen and her husband, Don of Tijeras, NM, and Bryan Eytcheson and his wife, Therese of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, David, Bryan, Janan, Matthew, and Michael Talmadge, Ann, Thomas, Mark, and Andrew Eytcheson. Geist -- Laura M. Geist, a resident of Sunbridge Health Care Center, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000. She is survived by her son, Daniel Geist and wife, Jane; granddaughter, Margot Geist, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Benjamin Geist; and great-grandson, Aaron Geist, both of Frisco, TX. Mrs. Geist was preceded in death by her brother, Evan Boswell; and sister, Miriam Paulson. She was a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. Mrs. Geist was a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln and Washington schools for over 30 years in Marion, IN. She was a member of Temple Congregational Church in Marion, IN. Hake -- In Loving Memory of Lewis William Hake II. Lewis William Hake II, born on January 8, 1918 in Fork Atkinson, WI, died Sunday, July 9, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis William Hake and Anna Marie Peters. A loving husband for 54 years to Shirley Ann Hake; a cherished father to Lew Hake and wife, Coe, Peggy McLane, Sherwood Hake and wife, Buffy, and Shaney Marie Hake; adored grandfather and endearing great-grandfather. A resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, who retired from Sandia Laboratories after 30 years. A United States Marine Veteran of WWII, survivor of Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal. He will be forever remembered as an avid fisherman, a tremendous golfer, and a lover of the outdoors. There are many friends who will dearly miss this loving and humble man, who has just gone fishing. Johnson -- Craig Johnson, 59, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandra Johnson of the family home; sons, Geoffrey C. Johnson of Key Largo, FL, Tige C. Johnson and wife, Yvonne C. of Chicago, IL, and Reuel C. Johnson of Albuquerque; sisters, Sherrill Creer and husband, Ronald and Jill Rodriguez, all of Albuquerque; brother, Kent Johnson and wife, Carol of Snohomish, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 49. Mr. Johnson was involved in numerous organizations and community activities during his years here in Albuquerque. His love of travel was just one of his many interests. He was loved and will be missed by all. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 17, 2000, 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Pastor Russell Lee officiating. Lyle -- Thelma Frances Rabb Lyle, of Albuquerque, passed away July 8, 2000, of natural causes. She was born March 14, 1921 in Mena, Arkansas to Harry F. Rabb and Mina Sexton Rabb. Frances was married to James W. Lyle of Mena, AR in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Lyle in 1998; her son, Patrick Lyle in 1980; and by her brothers, Harry (Buck) Rabb and John Robert Rabb. Survivors include her son, James W. Lyle, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Gerri of Albuquerque, son, Paul A. Lyle and daughter-in-law, Kim of San Diego; granddaughters, Katerina Calderone of Salt Lake City, and Jeannette Lyle of Albuquerque; brothers, William (T) Robb of Russellville, AR, Charles Rabb of Rogers, AR and Richard Rabb of Arlington, TX; and also her sister, Mary Ann Plunkett of Vallejo, CA. During her marriage, Frances lived in such exotic locations as occupied Japan, and the then territories of Hawaii and Alaska. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1961. Frances was an accomplished gardener with a great knowledge of horticulture. Her many activities in gardening, including chairing many state flower shows, classifications for state flower shows, Past Presidency of La Manana Garden Club, as well as other offices. She loved her vegetable garden, peonies, iris, and roses. Services will be held at the Gate of Heaven Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2000. The family welcomes flowers or donations to Hospice, the Albuquerque Garden Center, or the Albuquerque Public Library. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mrs. Lyle, (891-8200).

Martinez -- Rosenaldo Martinez went home to the Lord, July 12, 2000. He was born August 15, 1919. He was a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years. Mr. Martinez was born in Rincon Blanco, NM. He was the son of Pedro and Cleofas Martinez who preceded him in death. Mr. Martinez is survived by his sisters, Molly, Beatrice, and Tina; former wife, and dear friend, Margaret; daughters, Connie and husband, Jerry, Stella and husband, Lee, and Bertha and husband, Dale; and son, Ross Jr.; grandchildren, Monica Link, Daniel and Shelli Vigil, Tina and Tanya Martinez; step-grandchildren, Danny and Suzanne, Eric and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Josette, David Jr., Dominique, Danessa, and Ezykiel; and other nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also preceded in death by his son, Edmund, daughter, Ella, brothers, Leo, Ted, Leandro, Pete and sister, Jessie. Ross was a veteran of WWII. He was a POW and survivor of Bataan Death March. He was a lifetime member of VFW. Mr. Martinez was a shop instructor at El Rito College. He owned Cebolla Bar in Cebolla, NM. Mr. Martinez moved to Albuquerque in 1962. He was owner of Ross Appliances on 4th street in Albuquerque until his retirement. Morrow -- Ella Reed Morrow, 98, was born December 2, 1901, and passed away on July 10, 2000, at home. She was preceded in death by her son, Wilburne B. Bill Morrow, her sister and two brothers, Lorena, Homer, and Gray Reed. An Albuquerque resident since 1944, Ella is survived by her daughter, May Anne and husband, Marvin Hill; sister, Ruth Reed Austin; Marvin's son and wife and their daughter, Ron, Renee, and Sedona Hill, all of Albuquerque; a niece and nephew, Jean Vandecar, Albuquerque, and Dr. Williams Reed, Wisconsin, and their families. Ortiz -- George L. Ortiz died peacefully July 11, 2000. Born on September 18, 1927 in El Pueblo, NM, he moved to Albuquerque in 1953, and became an active member of San Jose Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Louisa; and brother, Gene. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Ortiz; and three sons, Charlie and wife, Jeanette, Junior and wife, Chela, Glen and wife, Vicky; and six grandchildren, Neil, Jennifer, Christopher, George, Nicholas and Jonathan; two great-grandchildren, Dominique and Noah; four brothers, Eluterio, Frank, Chano and Ray Ortiz; three sisters, Emma Ortiz, Ramona Lopez and Mary Chavez. Services will be held at San Jose Parish with a Rosary to be recited on Friday, July 14, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 15, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will be held. Ortiz -- Manuel S. Ortiz, born in Raton, NM on August 5, 1915, ended his earthly existence on July 12, 2000 and joined his heavenly father in the greater realm. He is survived by his two children, Helene Ortiz-Satterfield and Robert James Ortiz; five grandchildren, Louise, Victoria, C.J., Jewel T. and Emmanuel; great-grandchildren, Eddie, Monique and Romeo; one sister, Mary Fresquez; and one brother, Leo Ortiz and wife, Lorianne, all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ortiz in 1997. In High School he went to work for the Popjoy family. When the C.C. Camps opened he went to the C.C. Center in Clayton. He married Louise Gallegos. Mr. Ortiz went to work in the mines in Raton for 23 years. For health reason of his family in 1953, they moved to Southern California, he ran a potato farm near Loma Linda. He retired from the N.M. State Fair, then went to work in the plumbing shop of A.P.S., where he retired. Rosary was recited, Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church, 4th & Mildred NW, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 1:30 p.m., at St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church with Father John Plans, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louise Marquez, Victoria Magana, Priscilla Gonzales, Corrine Perea, Shannon Griffo and Michelle Satterfield. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Fresquez and C.J. Satterfield. Riva -- James Riva, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2000, after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marcella Taylor Riva; his son, Douglas Riva and daughter-in-law, Karen Riley of New York City, NY; and two sisters, Gloria Eilers of New Douglas, IL and Rose Lovejoy of Staunton, IL. Mr. Riva was a graduate of Illinois College. He served his country in WWII and the Korean War in the US Army. He was an engineer with a long and varied career in the aerospace industry in New Mexico. A past Master of the Sandoval Masonic Lodge No. 76, Mr. Riva remained active in Masonic affairs throughout his life. He was an accomplished trumpet player, and participated enthusiastically in the Shrine Band. In his youth, he led a dance band. Mr. Riva's other great passion was soaring, and he built his own high-performance sail plane in the 1960s. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at the Sandoval Lodge No. 76, 1420 Barbara Loop, Rio Rancho, NM (892-1975) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2000. Ross -- Marie A. Ross, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956 died, Tuesday, July 11, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leland A. Ross of Albuquerque; daughter, Cheryl A. Garcia of Albuquerque; and former son-in-law, Premetivo Garcia of Albuquerque. She was a member of St. Johnťs United Methodist Church where she was very active in United Methodist Women. Mrs. Ross was also a member of the Eastern Star and worked as a baker for the Albuquerque Public Schools. Memorial services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Rev. Charles E. Price officiating. Sandoval -- John Sandoval Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2000, in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Sandoval. Schwebach -- Eugene James Schwebach, age 92, passed on to the promises of our Lord, Wednesday, July 12, 2000. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara in 1992. Eugene was born February 12, 1908 in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, eldest of six children of Susan Wagoner and James Schwebach. After the death of his father when Eugene was 11, the family moved to western Kansas to farm. In Kansas, Eugene began the learning and practice of his life work in agriculture. He married Clara Weigel, December 28, 1936. The family moved to Moriarty, New Mexico in 1960, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He continued to farm in New Mexico with his sons. Eugene's farming experience began with horse drawn implements and continued across the century to today's powerful, efficient mechanized equipment. He was fascinated by machines and gifted with an instinctive understanding of mechanical things. This heritage he passed on to his sons who continue to farm in the Estancia Valley. He was owner and operator of Schwebach Apartments in Moriarty, a business he managed until just a few months before his death. After retirement from farming, Eugene and Clara enjoyed several years of extensive travel in their motorhome. Eugene was an active and committed member of the Catholic Church and was proud to have attained the status of Fourth Degree Knight of the Order of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are three sons, Don and wife, Martha of Moriarty, Jim and wife, Peggy of McIntosh, NM, Michael and wife, Diane of McIntosh, NM; three daughters, Rita Lamb and husband, Charles of Las Cruces, Catherine Gilmore and husband, Jerry of South Jordan, UT, JoAnn Gabel and husband, Greg of Fairfax, CA; ten grandsons; five granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Roman Schwebach and sister, Amelia Ostmeyer of Oakley, KS and sister, Loretta Holthaus of Denver, CO. Rosary will be said Friday, 7:00 p.m., with the Mass of the Resurrection to be offered Saturday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m., Father Tony Martinez presiding. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Doug Schwebach, Daryl Schwebach, Dean Schwebach, Wayne Lamb, Jerry Richard Gilmore, Reid Schwebach, Ryan Schwebach, Jesse Schwebach, Ian Schwebach, and Matthew Gabel. All services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Moriarty, New Mexico. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Eugene's name to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Building Fund. Arrangements are being made by Harris-Hanlon Mortuary of Moriarty.

Stubbs -- Ervin W. Stubbs, 54, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada, was called home on Wednesday, July 12, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Lewis Stubbs, Robert Stubbs and his wife, Eva; grandsons, Jacob, Aaron, and Robert Jr. and former wife, Sandra Stubbs of Las Vegas, NV; his wife, Karen St. John-Stubbs; step-sons, Robert Edmondson Jr., Chris Edmondson, and Mark St. John of Albuquerque. Arrangements are by New Mexico Mortuary Services. Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, July 13, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastors David Waterman and Jerome Bell officiating.

Witte -- Norma Jean Witte, 66, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000. She was born November 10, 1933 to Marcus and Vista Burton Witte in Rencona, NM. She is survived by her brothers, Jay Witte of Peralta, NM, Jerry and his wife, Fita of Rowe Masa, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. Norma will lie in state Saturday, July 15, 2000, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place Saturday, July 15, 2000, 3:00 p.m., at the Estancia Cemetery with Pastor James Thompson officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM.
