Arka -- Leona A. Arka, beloved aunt, sister and friend to many, died after a valiant battle with time. She is survived by a sister, Norma Horst of Albuquerque; a niece, Merideth Barroso (Francisco) of Fairfax, VA, a niece, Linda Clawson (David) of Albuquerque, a niece, Kelle Sessions of Nampa, ID; a great-nephew, Chris Clawson (Tina) of Albuquerque, a great-nephew, Jason Clawson of Pasadena, CA; other family members in Chicago and many friends. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 25, 1914 and lived there until she moved to Albuquerque in 1979. She was a gentle soul with a heart of gold who saw the good in everyone. We will all miss her. Atencio -- Roman Atencio Jr., formerly of Tierra Amarilla, NM, born January 1, 1912, died February 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Josie V. Atencio; and three sons, Isaac Atencio and wife, Eulemia Atencio, Edwardo Atencio and Rita of Espanola, Alfonso Atencio and Nancy of Cuba, Betty and Carlos Atencio of Rio Rancho, Mary Ann and William Unthank of Cincinnati, OH; brothers, Gilbert Rose Atencio of Albuquerque, Roy Atencio of Dixon, NM, Eloy Atencio and wife, Ruby of Albuquerque; one sister, Dora and husband, Dan Ortiz of Albuquerque; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Alameda, NM.

Burns -- Thelma C. Burns, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1872, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Oma Fay Burns of Tijeras; grandsons, Robert Burns of Albuquerque and Brian Burns and wife, Saundra of Tijeras; granddaughters, Belinda Werner and husband, Pete of Rio Rancho, Debra Burns of Denton, TX, Barbara Foust of Edgewood and Diane Westfall and husband, Reece of Sandia Knolls; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Olson and husband, Robert of Anchorage, AK; and brothers, Harold Botkin of Chicago, IL and Robert Botkin of San Diego, CA. Mrs. Burns belonged to the Bear Canyon Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Memorial services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Deacon Al McLane officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Chamberlin -- Robert J. Chamberlin, 79, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2000 at his home in Magdalena, NM. He was born June 18, 1920 to Daniel and Hattie (Scott) Chamberlin in Magdalena. He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Blankinship) Chamberlin of their home; grandsons, Ronald, Richard and Roger Crosby, all of Albuquerque; cousins, Linda Stahl and Lou Dadyburjor, both of West Virginia; nephew, Scott Chamberlin of Albuquerque; nieces, Barbara Bandonagen of Albuquerque and Marian Smith of Arizona. Conley -- Pearl Conley, 62, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, in an Albuquerque hospital. She was born December 28, 1937 in Austin, Texas. She was a 35 year Albuquerque resident. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra of Albuquerque and Beverly of San Bernardino, CA; sons, Kenney and Brian of Albuquerque; sister, Hazel Johns-Chandler of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Wade, Andrew and Horace of Austin, TX; step-brother, Louis Johns of Austin, TX; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., February 5, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 315 53rd St. SW, Albuquerque, with Rev. Alonzo Twitty Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park.

Mckinney -- Laura Lee Perry McKinney was born on July 11, 1918 in Melisa, Texas and died February 2, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raish; her parents, John and Willie Mae Perry; one brother, Marshall Perry; and two grandchildren."Mama Laura" is survived by her daughter, Ethel Mae"Tincy" Johnson; five sisters, Nettie Williams, Mamie Sessions, Nina Owens, Mary Jane Jordan, Louise Skinner; five brothers, Johnnie Perry, Jesse Perry, Alexander Perry, Calvin Perry, Franklin Perry; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Montoya -- Donald D. Montoya, age 51, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2000, after a battle with heart disease. Donald's passions included fishing, camping, racquetball, working as an advocate for his clients, and most of all, taking care of others. His physical presence will be deeply missed in our community. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bennie L. (Butch) Montoya Jr. He is survived by his wife, Betty V. Montoya; his two daughters, Nina Montoya and Elicia Montoya; and son-in-law, Kurt Gilbert. He is also survived by his parents, Bennie and Soraida Montoya; brothers and sisters, Diana Jaramillo, Enrique Montoya and wife, Claudette, Therese Prada and husband, Mel, Monica Montoya and Marcus Montoya; and numerous nieces, nephew, other family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 5:00 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Sunday, February 6, 5:00 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 7, 11:00 a.m., at St. Francis Cathedral. Olloway -- John C. Olloway Sr., 84, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 2, 2000. Schaeffer -- Sadie Schaeffer, 69, a resident of Belen, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2000. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She and Jim never had children, but they considered their nieces and nephews as their grandchildren and held a very special place in their hearts for their Godson, Eric Villanueva. Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Delfina Serrano. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James of the family home in Belen; six sisters, Lilly Villanueva, Olivia Lopez and her husband, Felix, Carmen Salazar and her husband, Wilbert, Isabel Serrano, Dolores Maestas and her husband, Fidel, Susan Garcia and her husband, Andy; three brothers, Norberto Serrano and his wife, Suzie, Abelino Serrano and his wife, Connie, Carlos Serrano and his wife, Corie; one sister-in-law, Wanda Mangram and her husband, Virgil; her Godson, Eric Villanueva. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Seidel -- Bernard"Bernie" Seidel, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Anne Seidel of Albuquerque; a sister, Florence Schwaber of Baltimore, MD; a nephew, David Schwaber of Baltimore, MD; and a niece, Toba Schwaber of Philadelphia, PA. Bernard had a long career as a hat manufacturer and distributor in New York, before moving to New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, on Monday, February 7, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UNMH Hospital Foundation. Sena -- Alfonso T. Sena, 74, a lifelong Fort Sumner resident, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at his home in Fort Sumner following an illness. Mr. Sena was born March 9, 1925 in Fort Sumner to the home of Jose C. and Estefanita (Trujillo) Sena. He was reared and attended school at Fort Sumner. Alfonso served with Company G, 17th Infantry, U.S. Army from August 9, 1943 until his honorable discharge on January 9, 1946. His tour included Okinawa, Japan, where he was wounded in action on June 25, 1945. His citations included the Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Following his discharge he served with the U.S. Army National Guard, 502nd Service Battery at Fort Sumner. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard on September 20, 1957. Alfonso married Guadalupe"Lupe" Hernandez on July 29, 1946 in Fort Sumner. He began working with the New Mexico State Highway Department in 1947 until his retirement in 1987. He received numerous citations while working for the Highway Department. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Curry County Chapter 6, a member of the Purple Heart Association, and a lifelong member of St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Reymundo Sena, Olegario Sena, Solomon Sena; two sisters, Aurelia Lucero and Odelia Casaus. Survivors include his wife, Lupe Sena of the family home in Fort Sumner; four daughters, Vivian and husband, Allen Whipple of San Mateo, CA, Josephine and husband, Joe Moreno of Los Lunas, Susan and husband, Frederick Chavez of Albuquerque, Annie Lou and husband, Jesse Gonzales of Houston, TX; six sons, Anthony and wife, Helen Sena of Espanola, Earl and wife, Barbara Sena of Santa Rosa, Guadalupe"Sonny" and wife, Monica Sena of Las Cruces, Lennard and wife, Lucy Sena of Fort Sumner, Clifford Sena and Yvette of Albuquerque, and Michael Sena of Alexandria, VA. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carlos T. Sena, Anastacio T. Sena, Roman T. Sena; and a sister, Alberta Gonzales, all of Fort Sumner. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2000, from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 6, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 7, at St. Anthony Parish with Father Sotero A. Sena, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, with full Military Honors by the New Mexico National Guard. Pallbearers will be Lennard Sena, Michael Sena, Sonny Sena, Earl Sena, Anthony Sena, Clifford Sena, Andrea Sena, Melvin Moreno, Arturo Sena, and Frederick Chavez. Honorary bearers will be Carlos T. Sena, Anastacio T. Sena, Roman T. Van Delinder -- Pauline L. Van Delinder, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Thursday, February 3, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Van Delinder and wife, Marian of Albuquerque and John Van Delinder of San Francisco, CA; daughters, Deborah Doherty and husband, Richard of Delta, CO and Martha Bitts and husband, Robert of Littleton, CO; four grandchildren, Elin Griffith, Ruben Bitts, Sine Doherty and Nathan Van Delinder; and brother, Howard A. Johnson and wife, Regina of Houston, TX. Mrs. Van Delinder began working in 1954 at Sandia Corporation as a Computer Technician and continued until her retirement after 28 years of service. Zimmerly -- Cecelia Zimmerly, age 73, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2000 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She was born January 6, 1927 to Estevan and Adelfina (Torres) Zimmerly in Socorro. She was a homemaker and worked many years for Cecil's Candy Store, where she was well known. Mrs. Zimmerly was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Steve Zimmerly and a sister, Lupe Estrada. She is survived by a brother, Albert Zimmerly of Socorro; sisters, Pauline Baca of Socorro, Gertrude Archuleta and Ida Manning, both of Albuquerque and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be held Sunday, February 6, 7:00 p.m., at Steadman-Hall Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 7, 9:00 a.m., at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Bill Sanchez as Celebrant. Burial will be in San Miguel Cemetery.
