Alvarez -- Edward V. Alvarez, 88, died December 28, 1999 after a long illness. He was born August 4, 1911 to Edward and Rosa Alvarez in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He had a long professional career with the U.S. government serving as a procurement officer in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor, contract officer in Roswell, N.M. during the installation and update of the missile sights and during the installation of the Minute Man missile sight in Rapid City, South Dakota. His first wife Erma, brother Robert, Albert and sisters Ida and Judy and daughter Rose Marie Jackson and son Armando Garduno, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Carmen Alvarez, sons Edward Alvarez, Frank and Jesse Molinar. Daughters Jeanette Eads, Maria Elena Alvarez, Micah Alvarez and Jessica Eads. Grandchildren, Eddie, Tony and Gail Marie Alvarez, Magdalena and Carmen Sharpe, Tony, Christy and Stephanie Molinar, James and Jordan Eads, Ashley, Frank and Destiny Molinar. Services will be held at the Church of the Risen Savior at 1701 Wyoming NE, in Albuquerque. Rosary is Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. and funeral mass is Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Baca -- Mrs. Gregorita M. Baca went to be with the Lord Tuesday at the age of 59. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baca is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Baca; her parents; two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Lawrance Baca and fiancée, Andrea Maestas; sister, Josie M. Otero; loving grandchildren, Kristie Baca, Jackie Baca and Lawrance Maestas; and many nephews and nieces. Funeral Services for Mrs. Baca will be held on Friday at the St. Anne Catholic Church where the Mass willb e celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Fr. Tom. Burial will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alvin Sanchez, David Sanchez, Tony Otero, Frank Vigil, Mark Romero and Louie Gallegos. Honorary pallbearers will be John C. Baca, Mike C. Beattie -- James Winston Beattie, age 83, a three year resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. He is survived by daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) and husband, Thomas R. Mann of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Katherine E. Mann of Portland, Oregon; grandson, Michael J. Mann of Albuquerque; cousins in Canada and Great Britain, and treasured friends. He married Mary Lucille Asling on February 28, 1942. Mary predeceased James on September 7, 1991 after 49 years of marriage. James was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He served as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He established medical practices in Santa Rosa, NM, Las Vega, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, and Lake Geneva, WI. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons. After retirement his adventurous spirit took him to unusual, exotic, and sometimes dangerous places all over the world. He spent the last summer of his life learning to fly an ultralight plane. The family wishes to thank Dr. Vigil, Dr. Ortolano, and all the nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Pickard Convalescent Center, and Presbyterian Hospice. Cremation has taken place and Dr. Beattie requested that there be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vieques Humane Society, Vieques, Puerto Rico 00765. Boles -- Gayle Salley Boles, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. She is survived by her son, Thomas Lee Boles of Alamogordo; brother, Warren W. Salley and wife, Jeanne of Las Cruces; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Boles was preceded in death by her husband, Millard M. Boles in 1976; and daughter, Carol Ann Boles in 1979. She came to Albuquerque from Villa Park, IL in 1964 and worked at Rhodes Dept. Store. Mrs. Boles was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was Past Royal Matron of La Mesa Court #3, held offices in the Eastern Star, and was a member of the White Shrine. She was also a member of D.A.R. Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE, with Rev. Milton Propp officiating. Cremation will follow services. Brown -- Nellie (Nolia) Brown, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Candelaria Garcia Roybal. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Pereda and her husband, Jorge of Denver, CO; one sone, Dennis Quintana of Albuquerque; three brothers, Juan Roybal of Colonias, NM, Cornelio Roybal and his wife, Erlinda of Scottsdale, AZ, and Larry Roybal and his wife, Socorro of Pecos; three sisters, Maria Ruiz and her husband, Antonio of Colonias, NM, Tomasita Rodriguez and her husband, Estevan and Grace Gallegos all of Pecos; her grandchildren, Josephine Martinez and her husband, Frankie and Arlene Pereda all of Grants, NM, and Christina and Angelica Pereda of Denver, CO; a great-grandson, Ernesto Pereda; a special niece, Esther Quintana and her husband, Sixto of Pecos; 11 nieces, five nephews, and numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a member of the Cursillo Movement in Albuquerque. A visitation will be held Thursday afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m. from St. Anthony's Catholic church in Pecos. A Parish Rosary will be recited there at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, morning at 10:30 a.m. from the Santo Nino Church in Lower Colonias. Campbell -- Charles C. (Chet) Campbell, 86, died on December 24, 1999. He came to New Mexico in 1945 with the Manhattan Engineer District at Los Alamos. From 1943 until 1973, Mr. Campbell was involved in the atomic energy program in various administrative capacities. In 1958, for the Atomic Energy Commission (now DOE), he became Area Manager for Sandia and in 1962 for Los Alamos, overseeing the privatization of the town. He retired as Assistant Manager of AEC's Albuquerque Operations Office. After retirement, he served for two years as executive director for Com-Serv (Community Services for the Handicapped). Though a federal employee, Campbell was interested in improving state and local government processes. He served on the NM State Personnel Board, the Governor's Committee on Reorganizing State Government, and the NM Highway Department Task Force. Locally, Campbell also chaired the Committee on Environmental Concerns, was a member of the Environmental Planning Commission, vice chairman of the city-county Air Quality Board, and member of the city-county Manpower Board and the city advisory group on community development. He also served as state president of the Society for Public Administration. In civic affairs, Campbell had been active in organizations for health care and the handicapped, active in the Easter Seal Society for years, serving on its state and national boards of directors, as state president (1966-68) and national president (1977-78). He also served on the boards of directors for Share Your Care, Inc., Hospital Home Health Care, and Community Dental Services. Campbell was also active in NARFE (National Ass'n of Retired Federal Employees), serving on numerous local and state committees, as president of Chapter 80, and several terms as state federation treasurer. He was a member of Rotary club from 1956 and a life member of DAV. Awards included several from USAEC for achievements and the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award (1970). He was also a Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow. Campbell was an alumnus of the University of Colorado-Boulder with membership in Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi honorary societies and Kappa Sigma social fraternity. Chet's wife, Geraldine, preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Charles Patrick and wife Tamara of Albuquerque, half-brother Michael of Hastings, Neb., and honorary daughter Jane Gurulé of Bernalillo. Cremation has taken place with Sunrise Society in charge of arrangements. Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 10, 4PM, at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Pl. NE, Rev. Chuck Collins officiating. The family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to the New Mexico Easter Seal Society, 2819 Richmond Dr. NE or other charity.

Davenport -- William (Bill) Porter Davenport, 69, passed away suddenly December 18, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A private family graveside committal service was followed by a memorial Monday, December 20, 1999, at the First Baptist Church in Socorro, New Mexico. He was born in Danbury, Connecticut and raised in Tucson, Arizona. In 1955, he married Maryon Perry and attended the University of Arizona, graduating in 1960. He worked in industry, among which were Mountain Telephone and Telegraph in Arizona; Safeway stores in Oakland, CA, designing and building their first computer center; and Bank Americard (Visa) in San Francisco, designing and implementing their first national telecommunications system. Bill had an inherent, abiding love of teaching and spent the last twenty years of his professional career as an associate professor of Computer Science at Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Following retirement in 1994, he and his wife settled in New Mexico, first in Albuquerque and then, for the past year, in San Antonio, returning to teaching Computer Science at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro. Bill was a deeply committed Christian, devoted husband and father, and respected and loved by those who knew him for his integrity, forthrightness and joy of life. He is survived by his wife, Maryon of San Antonio, NM; two daughters, Leslie Fuentes and husband, Marty of Albuquerque, Brenda Schaeffer and husband Brian of Deming; a son, William (Bill) Davenport and wife, Joanne of Nova Scotia, Canada; two sisters, Anne Lovekin and husband, William of Albuquerque, Mary Jaksha and husband ,Larry of Socorro; a brother ,John (Jay) and his wife Betsy of Baldwin Park, CA, and nine grandchildren.

Garcia -- Mrs. Josephine B. Garcia, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away December 28, 1999. Survived by her loved ones Mrs. Garcia is the beloved wife of 26 years to Mr. Robert Garcia. She is also survived by one daughter, Renee Olivas and husband, Mark; and one son, Celso Garcia and girlfriend, Benetta; her mother, Della Maesteas; three sisters, Myrna D. Chavez, Ida Mae Abeyta and husband, Eugene and Mary Lou Salas; one brother, Daniel J. Maestas, all of Denver, CO; grandchildren, RaeAnn, Celso Jr. and Brianna; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin S.W., with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. at San Martin Church with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Dan Farris, Celebrant. Hoover -- Mr. Frank Hoover, 83, of Belen, died Monday, December 27, 1999. He was born April 29, 1916 in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Frank was on the Board of Directors of Horizon Country Club, a charter member of Belen Elks Club and a member of Rosary International. He was inducted into the Remote-Control Hall of Fame in 1996, because of his pioneer work in the field of electronics Surviving are his wife, Bobbi Hoover, of Belen; a son, C.G. Hoover of Albuquerque; two daughters, Carol Raymond and husband, Frank of Chicago, Illinois, Tobie Arnold and husband, Jim of Mocksville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Frank A. Hoover, Chrissy Cicuto, Carrie Merner, Cristy Arnold, Frank Raymond, Jr., Julie Raymond; and one great-grandson, Nikolas Hoover. A memorial service will be held at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Belen, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29th.

Jackson -- James"Jim" Jackson, age 47, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Sherrey Jackson of Albuquerque; daughter, Crystel Jackson; son, Jaramia Jackson of St. Louis; and mother, Mary Frizzell of Belen. James was an actor and had played a variety of parts in films such as Wyatt Earp, Buffalo Girls, and a newly released film called Lockdown. Cremation has taken place. Johnson -- Edith Mae Johnson died December 20, 1999 at 91 years of age. She was born May 12, 1908 in Evansville, Indiana and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1944. Surviving her are 2 sons, Mr. Ben B. Johnson of Albuquerque, Mr. Meredith G. (Bud) Johnson of Dallas, TX; and a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Reed of Wichita, KS; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park on December 22, 1999.

Maestas -- Herman L. Maestas,"The Apple," a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, December 27, 1999 at the young age of 63. A native New Mexican, born in Corrales and a proud member of the Teamsters Local 492 for 32 years. The Super Slab has come to an end,"Come In." Herman was born July 3, 1936 the son of Trancito and Delfina Pacheco Maestas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trancito and Delfina Maestas, his parents-in-law, Manuel and Felicita Sisneros, infant son Mark Maestas and infant granddaughter, Angelica Maestas. Herman is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Sisneros Maestas, two sons, Walter Maestas, Kenneth Maestas and his wife Patricia, four grandchildren, Fabian, Mariah, Marcus, and Alyssa Maestas, one great-grandchild, Izabella Maestas. He is also survived by his sisters, Antonia and husband Casimiro Apodaca and Gloria Maestas, brother, Edmundo Maestas, sister-in-law, Della Thornton and husband Wallace and many nieces and nephews, along with many other family and friends. Romero -- Mrs. Lucy L. Romero, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 28, 1999. Mrs. Romero is the beloved wife of 39 years to Carlos Romero. She is also survived by her children, Raymond Marquez, Elisa Clubb and Rosalie Garcia and husband, Abel Lloyd; step-children, Ernest Romero and wife, Stella, Margaret Chavez and husband, Fred, Irvin Romero and Lenard Romero and wife, Angela; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Arturo Lucero; a sister, Emilia Sandoval and husband, Flaviano. Mrs. Romero is preceded in death by her parents, Benino and Lupita Lucero; brothers, Manuel Chavez and Premitivo Lucero. Mrs. Romero was a member of the Catholic Church. Her favorite pastime was going to bingo with her husband, having family gatherings, trips to Laughlin with her family and going out to eat with her husband. Rush -- Myrtle Louise Rush born July 1, 1928 passed away on December 27, 1999, at her home after spending Christmas with her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister and friend who devoted her life to caring for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; and her daughter, Michelle. She is survived by her children, Alice and Archie Powder, Dianna and Ron Eaborn, Robert and Annette Rush, Teresa and George Griego; her grandchildren, Kim, Tina, Michelle, Kileen, Constance, Robert, Anthony, Andrew, Rodney, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Adam, Alexis, Zachary, Jonathon, Joshua, Ryan and soon to be born Angelica. Sanchez -- Maria Celina Abeyta Sanchez, a resident of Albuquerque, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, died Tuesday, December 28, 1999. She is survived by her children, Theresa of Dallas, TX, Michael, Patrick and Matthew Eric, all of Albuquerque, and their spouses, Robert Smith, Kristina and Patricia; grandchildren, Alexander, Bethany, Melissa and Matthew; siblings, Cordelia Archunde, Issac Abeyta, Loyola Chavez, Martha Abeyta, Joseph Abeyta and Alex Abeyta, and their spouses. Mrs. Sanchez served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Medical Clerk at Ft. Wingate. She was a catalogue librarian at the University of New Mexico Library, specializing in cataloging Catalan, Portuguese, Spanish and English. Mrs. Sanchez was a world traveler and diplomat's wife, in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Argentina. She was a teacher in the U.S. and abroad. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of Our Lady of Annuciation Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer at St. Bernadette's Library, The Museum of Natural History and Presbyterian Hospital. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, in Blanco, NM, with Cordelia Archunde reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Dan, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Blanco, NM, where she was raised and her parents are buried. Sarver -- James Russell Sarver, son of Gladys Emmerick Ostrum and Otto Sarver, was born on June 29, 1922 in Green Bay, WI. James spent 31 1/2 years in the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He then went to work at the Link division of the Singer Company in Bellevue, NE. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jeannette; daughters, Lynde and husband, Richard Brogan of Delaware, Karen and husband, Doug Wilder of Nebraska and Renee and husband, John Gallegos of New Mexico; six grandchildren, Cory, Nathan and Seth Wilder and Richard, Donna and Robin Brogan; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jackie Taylor of Mobile, AL and Darlene Jernigan of San Antonio, TX. Mrs. Smart was raised on the South Wells and Diamond A Ranches. She worked for many years at Mountain Bell, Utility Block Company and Digital Equipment. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Rev. Randall Stotts officiating. Cremation will follow services. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 1:00 p.m. to time of service.

Tanner -- Yvonne Carol Tanner, 64, a resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of California, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 1999. Yvonne was born June 13, 1935 the daughter of Benito and Anita Ortez Baca in Los Angeles, California. She was very loving and caring, loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing. Yvonne is survived by her husband, John Dave Tanner; four children; Diane Hodge and husband, Jimmie of Roswell, NM, Julie Seifert and husband, Richard of Rio Rancho, Barbara Reed and husband, Jay of Fowlerton, TX, James Leatherman of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Samantha, Yvonne, Sara, Jeffrey, Ashley, and Lauren; and four great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be this morning, Thursday, December 30, 1999 at 10:30 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with The Rev. Christopher Pieroni as the celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Seifert, Jay Reed, James Leatherman, and Phillip Smith. Trujillo -- Barbara Trujillo, 58, a resident of Bernalillo passed away Tuesday in Albuquerque. Her mom and dad precede her in death. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Cordova, of Llanito, NM; her loving husband, Amado Trujillo; four sons, Gerald Trujillo and wife, Renee, stationed in Guam, Tim Trujillo and wife, Yolanda of Algodones, NM, Danny Trujillo and wife, Tina of Rio Rancho, NM, Robert Trujillo and wife, Jennifer of Rio Rancho, NM; two daughters, Emily Vasquez and husband, LeRoy of Bernalillo NM, and Monica Trujillo of Bernalillo NM. Also surviving are four brothers, Randolph Mirbal and wife, Marie of Bernalillo NM, Rey Mirbal and wife, Sandy of Las Cruces, NM, Pete Martinez of Bernalillo, NM, Jerry Martinez and wife, Norma of Placitas, NM; nine sisters, Bonnie Garcia and husband, Alex of Albuquerque, NM, Romie Marquez of Llanito, NM, Ruth Goltia and husband, Charlie of Tuscon, AZ, Helen Miller of Albuquerque, NM, Patty Espinosa and Richard of Corrales, NM, Tillie Tenorio and husband, Rudy of Bernalillo, NM, Angelina Schwerkoske and husband, John of Albuquerque, NM, Jeanette Lopez and husband, Jim of Belen, NM, and Lucy Valencia of Bernalillo NM. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren. She has several special brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed collecting and creating doll houses and pottery. She helped and never forgot anyone. She loved her grandchildren and always had time for them. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church where the Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Paul Trujillo, Joseph Garcia, Gabe Archibeque, Christopher Marquez, Jeffrey Tenorio, and Rick Moreno.
