Baldonado -- Leonardo B. Baldonado, 77, a resident of Belen, passed away on Monday, December 27, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria Baldonado and Manuelita Barela Baldonado; his brothers, Emilio, Ramon, and Manfor Baldonado; sister, Barbara Candelaria; one grandchild, Jeffrey Baca. He is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia of the family home in Belen; his children, Eloy M. Baldonado, Mary Lou B. Olguin, Virginia B. Mares and Tony Tobar, Jane Badrid and her husband, Tobert, Leroy Baldonado, Eileen Lowe and her husband, Richard, Barbara J. Baldonado and Rick Leyba; grandchildren, Kevin Baca and his wife, Marlene, Keith Olguin and his wife, Shelly, R. Barber -- John Henry Barber, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 1999. He was born August 2, 1911 in Eatonton, GA and was a graduate of Mercer College in Macon, GA. Mr. Barber worked for the Federal Government for 43 years and also served with the Army Air Corps for three years during WWII. Survivors include Inez Barber, his wife of 57 years; two sons, John Henry Barber Jr. and wife, Loretta and James Rist Barber and wife, Kathy; and six grandchildren, William DeLucia, Amy Barber, John Henry Barber III, Joseph J. Barber, Jacob T. Barber and Jennifer Barber. Mr. and Mrs. Barber were longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the service will be Reverend Myron E. Beattie -- James Winston Beattie, age 83, a three year resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. He is survived by daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) and husband, Thomas R. Mann of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Katherine E. Mann of Portland, Oregon; grandson, Michael J. Mann of Albuquerque; cousins in Canada and Great Britain, and treasured friends. He married Mary Lucille Asling on February 28, 1942. Mary predeceased James on September 7, 1991 after 49 years of marriage. James was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He served as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He established medical practices in Santa Rosa, NM, Las Vega, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, and Lake Geneva, WI. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons. After retirement his adventurous spirit took him to unusual, exotic, and sometimes dangerous places all over the world. He spent the last summer of his life learning to fly an ultralight plane. The family wishes to thank Dr. Vigil, Dr. Ortolano, and all the nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Pickard Convalescent Center, and Presbyterian Hospice. Cremation has taken place and Dr. Beattie requested that there be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vieques Humane Society, Vieques, Puerto Rico 00765. Beebe -- Elicia White Beebe ,89, passed away Friday, December 24, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born March 17, 1910 in Dallas, Texas. The daughter of an industrial engineer, she grew up in Indiana and Pennsylvania. She held a bachelors degree in liberal arts from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and a master of arts from the University of Maryland in College Park. She was married to the late Dr. James M. Beebe, a microbiologist. Ms. Beebe lived many years in Frederick, MD, where she and her family moved in the early 1950's. There she worked at Hood College as an administrative librarian and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In 1991 she moved to Albuquerque, NM, and joined St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church. She is survived by two sons, James R. A. Beebe and Geoffrey A. Beebe of Albuquerque; and one daughter, Katharine E. Beebe of Tijeras. A memorial service will be held in Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church. St. Marks is located at 431 Richmond Place NE; phone: 262-2484. Her ashes will be interred in the memorial garden of All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick, MD. A second memorial service will be held there in mid-March. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity.

Boles -- Gayle Salley Boles, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. She is survived by her son, Thomas Lee Boles of Alamogordo; brother, Warren W. Salley and wife, Jeanne of Las Cruces; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Boles was preceded in death by her husband, Millard M. Boles in 1976; and daughter, Carol Ann Boles in 1979. She came to Albuquerque from Villa Park, IL in 1964 and worked at Rhodes Dept. Store. Mrs. Boles was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was Past Royal Matron of La Mesa Court #3, held offices in the Eastern Star, and was a member of the White Shrine. She was also a member of D.A.R. Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE, with Rev. Milton Propp officiating. Cremation will follow services. Brixel -- 1929-1999 Otto S. Brixel, 70, a resident of Bernalillo for the past 22 years, passed away on Monday December 27, 1999. He immigrated from Europe to Venezuela, and finally to the USA. He was a diesel mechanic for many years. Mr. Brixel is survived by his loving wife, Karla Brixel; his children, Rudy Vlk of La Mirada, California, Otto Brixel Jr. of Seattle, WA, and Carl Brixel of Rio Rancho; his sister, Margaret Spodova of Sovakia; his grandchildren, Connie Vlk-Pelton, Jonathan Vlk, Andre Vlk, Jennifer Vlk; and one great-grandson, Christopher Pelton Jr. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Burns -- Virginia Mary"Ginger" "Ginny"- a native and life-long resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, December 26, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Burns of Oshkosh, WI. They were married 33 years. Virginia is survived by son, Tom Burns, wife Karen; granddaughter, Kiri; step-grandson, James of Lafayette, CO; daughter, Karen Dawson, husband, Mark of Denver, CO; daughter, Donna Sloan; grandson, Nicholas, of Denver, CO; son, Terry Burns of Broomfield, CO; son, Tim Burns of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by a very large extended family. Virginia was born on February 19, 1935. She was very vigorous in community activities. She was active in the Sweet Adelines Show Chorus, competitive country-wester and ballroom dancing, two quilting groups, TOPS, and the Senior Citizens Centers. Virginia loved traveling, spending time in the mountains and fishing. She was beyond energetic and was full of life. She devoted herself endlessly to her family and her friends. Her generosity was her trademark. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. We will remember her as a loving mother and many will miss her delicious brownies. The Funeral Service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at 3:00 p.m. at the Saint Bernadette Catholic Church located at 11401 Indian School Road NE. 505-298-7557. Cantu -- Bill Alvin Cantu born February 24, 1951 passed away suddenly in Santa Fe on December 26, 1999. Bill leaves his devoted fiancee, Cyndi Rue of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his parents, Frances Gonzales of Roswell and Bill & Lene Cantu of Las Cruces. Loving brother, Don Cantu; sister, Cindy Ross and fiancee, Jim Liquori; and sister, Cathy Vicira and husband, Tony all of San Jose, CA. Living children are Daniel Larranaga, Jason Larranaga and Vanessa Cantu all of Santa Fe. Bill is survived by two nephews and four nieces of San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Espalin -- OUR LORD WELCOMED ARTURO HOME ON JESUS' BIRTHDAY. Arturo Espalin, 77, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, December 25, 1999. he is survived by his brothers, Joe Espalin and Robert Espalin and wife, Dolores; sisters, Helen Stevens, his guardian of Albuquerque, and Lila Quintana and husband, Alonso of Cerro; aunt, Gabriella Martinez, of Albuquerque; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mr. Espalin was honorably discharged after serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post #72. Mr. Espalin was a devoted member of Oasis Family Church. The Lord blessed Arturo with the talent of playing the guitar for us on earth, now he is playing it in heaven. Garcia -- Bernardita Garcia, 91, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 24, 1999. Mrs. Garcia was born in Sedillo, NM and was a resident of Tijeras, NM. She is survived by two loving daughters, Angelina G. Webster and Sinforosa Gonzales both of Tijeras; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mauricio Garcia of Albuquerque. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated this morning at 11:00 a.m. at San Antonito Catholic C, with Rev. John Carney as celebrant. Greene -- Crockett Greene, 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerque since 1943, died Saturday, December 25, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Joy Hayes and husband, Ken; son, Edward Greene, all of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Angela and husband, Michael of Amarillo, TX and Starla; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; and three sisters, Mozell Ankrom of Noble, OK, Gertie Thompson of Fairfield, CA and Gracie Kitrell of Carrollton, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Phil; and one sister, Margarite; his first wife, Lucille in 1984; and his second wife, Eunice in 1986. Mr. Greene was born on June 19, 1916 in Tishomingo, OK, the son of Phillip and Clady Greene. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Greene was retired from Civil Service at Kirtland Air Force Base. Gutierrez -- Albert"Ay Esta" Gutierrez, born in Albuquerque, NM, July 28, 1941 died December 25, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Rose Gutierrez, two sons, Jimmy Gutierrez and wife, Millie and Dominic Gutierrez; one brother, Greg Gutierrez and wife, Lina; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Gutierrez; three step-sons, Chris, Rick and Sam and two step-daughters, Yvette Gurule and husband, Lorenzo and Yvonne Geofrion and husband, Rick; nine step grandchildren and many friends. He was" a person who was always there for you." He enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion Post #13. Hoover -- Mr. Frank Hoover, 83, of Belen, died Monday, December 27, 1999. He was born April 29, 1916 in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Frank was on the Board of Directors of Horizon Country Club, a charter member of Belen Elks Club and a member of Rosary International. He was inducted into the Remote-Control Hall of Fame in 1996, because of his pioneer work in the field of electronics Surviving are his wife, Bobbi Hoover, of Belen; a son, C.G. Hoover of Albuquerque; two daughters, Carol Raymond and husband, Frank of Chicago, Illinois, Tobie Arnold and husband, Jim of Mocksville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Frank A. Hoover, Chrissy Cicuto, Carrie Merner, Cristy Arnold, Frank Raymond, Jr., Julie Raymond; and one great-grandson, Nikolas Hoover. Jackson -- James"Jim" Jackson, age 47, died Sunday, December 26, 2999. He is survived by his wife, Sherrey Jackson of Albuquerque; daughter, Crystel Jackson; son, Jaramia Jackson of St. Louis; and mother, Mary Frizzell of Belen. James was an actor and had played a variety of parts in films such as Wyatt Earp, Buffalo Girls, and a newly released film called Lockdown. Cremation has taken place. Julian -- Marvel Lewis Julian passed away at San Juan Living Center Montrose, Colorado on December 24, 1999 at the age of 105. She was born in Springfield, Missouri and moved to New Mexico in 1908 from Trinidad, Colorado. Marvel moved to Albuquerque in 1978 following the death of her husband, Edwin. In February of 1998 she moved to Erda, Utah, to live with her great niece Louise Maxfield and husband, Gary. In July of 1999 she was moved to Montrose, Colorado to the San Juan Living Center where her great, great niece, Amber Watson was employed. Lang -- Robert Milton Lang, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Thursday, December 16, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Crownover; sons, Joseph P. Lang, Robert M. Littrell -- Thomas Littrell, age 38, was born in Albuquerque, NM on June 23, 1961. He is preceded in death by his baby son, James Tito Littrell; and his maternal grandmother, Manuclita Lopez. He is survived by his parents, Perfecto and Melba Cordova of Albuquerque; his uncles, Manuel Lopez, and Gus Duran; his girlfriend, Desiree Martinez of Albuquerque; his brother, Ricky and wife, Sally Sanchez; sister, Sandra Littrell and partner, Lisa Fonseca; brother, Floyd Cordova and partner, David Trujillo; brother, Edwin and wife, Leslie Cordova; sister, Molly Cordova; brother, Desi Cordova; and sister, Patsy Lopez, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by several other aunts and uncles; 19 loving nephews and nieces; and two great nieces. Tommy was known for his willingness to help out family, friends and neighbors. He was also know for his love of his cars and his one-handed push up. He will be sadly missed, but will always be remembered and dear to our hearts. Funeral Services for Thomas will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Lovering -- Franklin Foster Lovering, 87, passed away December 22, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Golding Lovering; children, Franklin Peter Lovering, Bend OR, Janet R. Thompson, Albuquerque, NM, Kathy L. Newens, Longmont, CO; brothers, John Lovering, Framingham, MA, Ralph Lovering, Palm Coast, FL; sisters, Ruthe Hubbell, Conway, NH, Jane Greene, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kris and Tim Lovering, Talent, OR, Curt Kessler, Portland, OR, Craig Kessler, Austin, TX, and Jacque Kessler, Sherman Oaks, CA. Frank was born July 5, 1912 in Medford, MA. He attended Exeter Academy and graduated with honors from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1935. He married his childhood sweetheart Ruth Golding of Medford in 1937. He was an engineer with Phillips Petroleum CO for 42 years and resided In Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma during his long and distinguished career. He retired as Permian Basin Regional Manager in 1977 in Odessa, Texas. He had recently moved to Albuquerque, NM to be near his family. Maestas -- Herman L. Maestas,"The Apple," a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, December 27, 1999 at the young age of 63. A native New Mexican, born in Corrales and a proud member of the Teamsters Local 492 for 32 years. The Super Slab has come to an end,"Come In." Herman was born July 3, 1936 the son of Trancito and Delfina Pacheco Maestas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trancito and Delfina Maestas, his parents-in-law, Manuel and Felicita Sisneros, infant son, Mark Maestas and infant granddaughter, Angelica Maestas. Herman is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Sisneros Maestas, two sons, Walter Maestas, Kenneth Maestas and his wife Patricia, four grandchildren, Fabian, Mariah, Marcus, and Alyssa Maestas, one great-grandchild, Izabella Maestas. He is also survived by his sisters, Antonia and husband Casimiro Apodaca and Gloria Maestas, brother, Edmundo Maestas, sister-in-law, Della Thornton and husband Wallace and many nieces and nephews, along with many other family and friends. Mullen -- Shirley Ray Mullen, age 75, passed away on Friday, December 24, 1999. Shirley was originally from Chicago, IL and attended Stienmetz High School and Northwestern University. She was a partner with her late husband, Mike, running the Mullen Company. After retiring, she and her family lived in Ireland for 17 years. In 1991, she moved to Albuquerque to live near her daughter, Patricia and her family. She was a loving mother and had an immensely positive outlook on life. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her, including her childhood friends whom she kept in contact with and all of her family members for whom she did such a wonderful job of preparing for life. She is survived by her five children; Patricia, Peter, Rick, Steve and Tom; and her seven grandchildren, Mikey, Eric, Kilian, Conor, Derek, Marshall and Christiana. Sanchez -- Maria Celina Abeyta Sanchez, a resident of Albuquerque, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, died Tuesday, December 28, 1999. She is survived by her children, Theresa of Dallas, TX, Michael, Patrick and Matthew Eric, all of Albuquerque, and their spouses, Robert Smith, Kristina and Patricia; grandchildren, Alexander, Bethany, Melissa and Matthew; siblings, Cordelia Archunde, Issac Abeyta, Loyola Chavez, Martha Abeyta, Joseph Abeyta and Alex Abeyta, and their spouses. Mrs. Sanchez served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Medical Clerk at Ft. Wingate. She was a catalogue librarian at the University of New Mexico Library, specializing in cataloging Catalan, Portuguese, Spanish and English. Mrs. Sanchez was a world traveler and diplomat's wife, in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Argentina. She was a teacher in the U.S. and abroad. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of Our Lady of Annuciation Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer at St. Bernadette's Library, The Museum of Natural History and Presbyterian Hospital. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, in Blanco, NM, with Cordelia Archunde reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Dan, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Blanco, NM, where she was raised and her parents are buried. Stanley -- Catherine"Cathy" Stanley, 53, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 27 years, passed away on Friday, December 24, 1999. Cathy came to New Mexico from New York. She was born October 13, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of James John and Marie Cesario Hallinan. Cathy has been a Registered Nurse before her death. She is survived by her husband, David Stanley of Rio Rancho; two children, James Yodice of Santa Fe, and Jean Ransom and husband, Phil of Rio Rancho; one grandchild, Joshua David Ransom (I love you very much Granny). Cathy was the World's Greatest friend, Mother, Granny, Loving Wife, friend to everyone she met. Thomas -- Paul A. Thomas, 89, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at is home at Vista Del Rio in Albuquerque. Known to his friends ad Pat, he was a sociology professor at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, from 1946 until 1975. During his tenure at DePauw, Pat was actively involved in the civil rights movement and enjoyed playing the washboard with the Ducks of Dixieland, a small jazz combo. A 1932 graduate of Oberlin College, he was a Glen Gray scholar and quarterback of the college football team. Later, after serving in the Navy in World War II, he earned his Ph.D. at Indiana University. His wife, the former Margaret James Eaton, died in 1988. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and John Maret of Mohegan Lake, NY; son, Andy and daughter-in-law, Marit S. Tully of Albuquerque; son, Russell of Austin, TX; and two grandsons, John and Russell Maret. A private memorial service is planned, and Pat's name will be placed next to his wife's on a headstone in Marblehead, Ohio.
