Byrne -- John P. Byrne, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Sunday, October 31, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Guri Byrne; daughters, Patricia Ann Leischner of Denver, CO, Guri K. Glass and husband, Wayne of Alexandria, VA, Bridget S. Turman and husband, Jerry of Chadron, NE; sons, James H. Byrne of Anchorage, AK, John W. Byrne of Albuquerque, and Timothy P. Byrne and wife, Geri of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Drew, Reeve, Barbara Jean, Matthew, Michael, Sage, Sarah, and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin; and his sister, Jean Ann. Mr. Byrne served in the US Army for 27 years and was involved in WWII, as well as the Korean Conflict. Guenther -- Florence Blakey Guenther, 79, a resident of Moriarty, passed away Sunday, October 31, 1999, in Oklahoma City, OK. Florence was born July 28, 1920 to Gilbert and Sarah Ann (Wormald) Blakey in Philadelphia, PA. She married Louis T. Guenther Sr. on July 12, 1941 in Hollywood, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death February 5, 1997. Florence had been a resident of Moriarty for the past 42 years. She is survived by two sons, Louis T. Guenther Jr. and his wife, Georgia of Moriarty, Larry E. Guenther and wife, Annabelle of Portland, ME; daughters, Christine Riboni and husband, Mac of Albuquerque, and Carolyn Guenther; also surviving are two grandchildren, Louis T. Guenther III of Moriarty and Betty Lou VanDemark and husband, Brian of Phoenix, AZ; one great-granddaughter, RaeAnn Lynn VanDemark of Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Elmer Blakey and wife, Emma of Denver, CO; her sister, Gloria Fretz and husband, Jack; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ms. Guenther will lie in state at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Moriarty, Wednesday, November 3, 1999, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Moriarty, Thursday, November 4, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Ken Long officiating. Burial will be at the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood. Pallbearers will be Guy Blakey, Ellan Anderson, Bob Hensley, Bob Shepherd, Jim Ford, Dave Johnson, Jessie Rogers Lester Stauffacher. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Blakey, Bill Rogers, Brian VanDemark, Mac Riboni, Choppo McComb, and Cyril Tate. Funeral services were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty.

Hanna -- Milton Edmond Frank"Bud" Hanna, an Albuquerque resident and native, passed away at home, October 27, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hanna; and his sister, Vera Moor. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Parnall and husband, Bill, Patty Hanna, Weecie Hanna, Laura Allred and husband, Mike; and best-friend, Louise Stambaugh; granddaughter, Taylor Parnall; and grandsons, Brandon and Marshall Allred. Bud was born in Albuquerque, December 5, 1920. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1937. Attended the University of New Mexico and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, being honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Albuquerque to run his parents photograph business, Hanna & Hanna, established in 1914 by his parents, Milton Edmond and Ottila Hanna. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 4, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard Blvd. NE, with Reverend Tom Salmon officiating. Kraus -- Mrs. Sarah G. Kraus, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 53 years, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 1999. Mrs. Kraus is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert (James) Kraus of Albuquerque; her son, Robert Kraus and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; her sister, Catherine Roberts of Washington, DC; her brother, Charles Garton and wife, Opal of Weston, WV; two sisters-in-law, Pat Garton and Jean Garton; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kraus was preceded in death by her two brothers, Thomas and Joseph Garton. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a member of St. Edwins Church. Visitation will be Wednesday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., in the St. Edwins Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. by Deacon J.O. Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the Rosary on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. by Father Jose Hernandez. Private disposition will take place. Martinez -- Fred G. Martinez, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Saturday, October 30, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Rael Martinez of Albuquerque; daughters, Virginia M. Woodward and husband, Grant of Dana Point, CA and Julianne M. Leighty and husband, Michael of Ft. Worth, TX; sons, Ronald F. Martinez and wife, Suzy of Phoenix, AZ and Eugene G. Martinez and wife, Anita of Minneaopolis, MN; grandsons, Brett Woodward and Ryan Woodward, both of Dana Point, CA; and grandparents, Tamara Leighty and Megan Leighty, both of Ft. Worth, TX; sisters, Rufina M. Gonden and husband, Frank of Concord, CA and Sylvia M. Fator and husband, Tom of Arcadia, CA; aunt, Lena McElory and husband, Tom of Las Vegas,NM; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Navy for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 100 and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Martinez was also a member of Queen of Heaven Church. He taught History at Valley High School. Peek -- Ross A. Peek passed away on October 31, 1999, in Albuquerque. He was born in Cincinnati, OH to Tommy and Rebecca Russell Peek. He was retired from the US Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Galindo of Albuquerque; his father, Tommy Peek of Cincinnati, Oh; his daughter, Alexandra Peek of Albuquerque; his sister, Patricia Peek of San Diego, CA; and his aunt, Mildred Doddy of Cincinnati, OH. Powell -- James I. Powell, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 82 years, passed away quietly Monday, November 1, 1999. Jim served in the US Navy during WWII as a Chief Electricians Mate. He owned J.I. Powell Company, Electrical Contractor, for over 30 years before retiring in 1979. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He dearly loved and missed his late wife,"Bert". Jim and Bertha were happily married for 42 years before she passed away in 1992. His survivors include three daughters, Susan Bobbitt and husband, Bill of Irving, TX, Deb Stark and husband, Larry of Albuquerque, and Barbara West and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; four grandsons, James Bobbitt of Irving, TX, Chris Lovato of Los Angeles, CA, Daniel Castellano and wife, Maria and David Castellano and wife, Adonica, all of Albuquerque; one step-grandson, Joseph West of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Castellano, Breeana Castellano and Joel Castellano, all of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Lee Neighbors and son, Matt; sister-in-law, Lillian Klineline; dear friends, Al and Fran Jobe; lifelong friend, Charlie Hobson; and numerous friends from La Familiar Cafe. Watson -- Nona Watson (Winona Joy Corley), 67, a retired educator and counselor, died October 29, 1999, in Escondido, California. Nona worked for more than 20 years with the Bloomfield School District in Bloomfield, New Mexico. She was born November 19, 1931, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Survivors include her husband, Cliff; ex-husband, Lee, sons; Danny, Joe, and Tim; daughter, Cricket (Ann); and six grandchildren, Toby, Samantha, Jessie, Kimiyo, Joey, and Jeremiah. A tribute will be held Saturday, November 6, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Belen, New Mexico.

Zidan -- Helen S. Zidan passed away Saturday, October 30, 1999. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1994. Helen was born in Carson, NM on July 6, 1917. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orin F. Zidan; and her sister, Evelyn Templeton. She is survived by her sisters, Louise Wadley and husband, Richard and Ethel Jean Wilson and husband, Robert; and her brother-in-law, Frank Templeton. Although she had no children of her own, she mothered many nieces and nephews. Helen was beloved by her family for the many kindnesses she bestowed upon them. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., this afternoon at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. Ne. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 1999, at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care with interment following at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
