Baca -- Victoria (Vicki) Bargas Baca, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on August 5, 1999 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Imelda Martinez and husband, Vivian of Denver, CO; son, Leonard Baca and wife, Eleanor of Louisville, CO; and daughter, Mary Lou Jaramillo and husband, Placido of Dallas, TX; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her only surviving sister, Jennie Bargas Garcia of Albuquerque. Mr. Baca joins her husband, Marcus, who recently passed away, and with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Adele; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Baca was born in Albuquerque to Martin and Victoriana Bargas. Vicki was a faithful Catholic and was actively involved in church activities throughout her life. she loved sewing, painting, and dancing the polka. Vicki opened her home to all and nurtured them with warmth, humor, and her delicious meals. She devoted her final years to caring for her husband at home during his long illness. Vicki seasoned our lives with love and brought brightness to the world, which will live on in the hearts of her large extended family and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 1999, at Church of the Risen Savior with her brother-in-law, Father Paul Baca officiating. Friends may visit Mrs. Baca at the church before Mass. Interment will take place 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 1999, at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Blackwell -- Lena Lee Blackwell, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 5, at her home. She is survived by her husband, James Blackwell of Albuquerque; son, James Lee Blackwell and wife, Patricia of Alamogordo; daughter, Leslie Galen and husband, Geoff of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Alison Annette Galen, also of Albuquerque. Lena was a member of the Beta Sigma Fi Sorority for over 40 years and was a very involved member. Cremation has taken place. Caudill -- Reese Caudill, 87, passed away at his home on Thursday evening, August 5, 1999. He was born November 16, 1911 in Clayton, NM. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Le Geia, he is survived by his daughters, Joy Dale and husband, Jack and Tomi Jo Delaney and husband, Jim; his sons, J.R. Caudill and Hilda and Mac Caudill and wife, Janice; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Davis -- Zean Davis, 61, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Friday, August 6, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine M. Denmark -- Lillian M. Denmark, age 85, died peacefully August 5, 1999 at a local nursing home. She was born in Ithaca, New York on June 10, 1914 and moved to Albuquerque following the death of her husband, Floyd in February, 1977. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Joan Denmark Tullar, son-in-law, Richard V. Tullar; grandchildren, Steven Tullar and wife, Staci of Albuquerque, Lynda Innis and husband, James of Albuquerque, Richard Tullar Jr. and wife, Jolene of Dover, OH. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Ethan and Samantha Innis of Albuquerque, as well as Richele and Ashten Tullar of Dover. When she was healthy she was active at, and did volunteer work for the Palo Duro senior center. Prior to her short stay at the nursing home she enjoyed her last two years at the Good Shepherd Manor in Alameda. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be taken to Ithaca for interment in the family plot. Dunne -- Arthur Joseph Dunne, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 5, 1999, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Dunne; mother, Margaret Katherine Dunne; children, Gail Tuthill and husband, Jon, Alan Dunne and wife, Martha, Janet Ferreyros and husband, Ricardo, and Linda Jones and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Jonathan, Megan, and Caitlin Tuthill, Michael and Nicole Ferreyros, and Robert and Matthew Jones. Mr. Dunne was born in Detroit, MI. He was a graduate of All Saints High School and the University of Detroit, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. His career led him to Kentucky and later to Iraq and Peru. Art spend 27 years working in the plastics industry. With a foot overseas and a foot in New Mexico, he pursued his passions of worldwide travel, computer technology, golf, ice cream, and his grandchildren. Duran -- Robert L. Duran, 45, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, August 6, 1999 in a local hospital. Robert was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He is survived by his parents, Louis and Natalie Duran; six brothers, Joe Duran and wife, Liz, Daniel Duran, Michael Duran, Manuel Duran, Henry Duran and Tony Duran and wife, Judy; four sisters, Elsie Muller and husband, Frankie, Diana Pacheco and husband, Arturo, Angela Duran and Loretta Garcia and husband, Gregario of Hernandez, N.M. Also surviving are his Godchildren, Louis Duran Jr., Inez Duran and Lorenzo Duran. Visitations will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Hogan -- Frances Adams Hogan went to glory Monday, August 2, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James H. Hogan; son, J. Michael Hogan; brother, James Earl Adams of Denver; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hogan was born in Montague Hollow, Soldier, KY, September 9, 1918. She attended school in KY and went on to the Moorhead State University in MN, where she was on the gymnastics and basketball teams. She taught high school in Soldier, KY during WWII. A Southern Baptist, she taught Sunday School beginners (4's and 5's) for years. She loved to read and passed the love of reading to her son. She was loved by little children and was the happiest when she had a gang of them around her. She will be missed by all. Her cremated remains were buried Friday, August 6, 1999, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were made by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico. 891-8200.

Jagunich -- Mary Jane Jagunich, 59, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, passed away, Friday, August 6, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Joe Jagunich of the family home; sons, Paul Jagunich of Baltimore, MD and Michael Jagunich of Albuquerque; daughter, Sharon O'Neill and husband, Mike of Albuquerque; and her three precious grandchildren, Gunnar, Zachary and Christopher. They were her greatest joy. Mary Jane is also survived by her brothers, Steve and wife, Doris of Whitinsville, MA, Nick and wife, Ione, Jack and wife, Anna, all of Eveleth, MN, Joe and wife, Rozanne of St. Cloud, MN and Jim and wife, Donna of Eveleth, MN; and sister, Cathleen and husband, Bob of Coon Rapids, MN. Mary Jane was born July 16, 1940 in Eveleth, MN to Steve and Catherine (Zalac) Pollack, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Matilda of Illinois; and brother, Thomas of Minnesota. Mary Jane was employed by the Albuquerque Public Schools for 19 years. She was a loving wife, and caring mother and grandmother. Mary Jane was surrounded by many true and wonderful friends. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her and those whose lives she touched. Lohr -- Robert Lohr, 61, a native of Joplin, MO and a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 5, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Camille C. Lohr; daughters, Sabina Lohr of Manchester, CT and Stacey Lohr of Albuquerque; son, Dr. David T. Lohr and his wife, Dr. Alissa Lohr of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter, Sydney Renee Lohr; mother, Jean Lohr; sisters, Rosalie Houk and Carol Marvin; aunt, Doris Glover; and many other family and friends. Mr. Lohr was a loving, hard working father and best friend to his wife. He enjoyed travel through the great outdoors and he was a big fan of baseball. Lovato -- Henry A. Lovato, age 83, born July 12, 1916, died peacefully at home Thursday morning, August 5, 1999. A life long resident of Albuquerque, he is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Doris Lovato; son, Henry Anthony Lovato II and wife, Carla; his other daughter, Susan Sanders and her husband, GE; by three loving grandchildren, Karen Lovato and Brandon and Colt Sanders; a brother, Fred Lovato and wife, Frances; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances in 1978. A survivor of the Bataan Death March, he was a prisoner of war for 42 months during World War II. He was a member of the 111th Calvary, 200th Coast Artillery; American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor; American Ex-POW's, VFW and DAV. He was awarded numerous medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Honorary Pallbearers are Karen Lovato, GE, Brandon and Colt Sanders, Ralph Rodriguez, Leo Padilla and Agapito Silva. Mcilroy -- Carol McIlroy, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years, died Tuesday, August 3, 1999. She is survived by her son, David McIlroy and wife, Karen of Eagle River, AK; daughters, Jennifer Ricker and husband, Fred of Westchester, CA and Cathy Gamblin and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Chris and Scott McIlroy and Kelsey and Collin Ricker; and sister-in-law, Valeria Farmer of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer C. McIlroy in 1992. Mrs. McIlroy was a member of Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ. Neel -- Mark C. Neel, 41, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 2, 1999 in San Diego, CA. He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Sally Neel of Albuquerque; daughters, Alyssa Neel and Kelsey Neel of Phoenix, AZ; grandmother, Mrs. W.A. Neel of Albuquerque; grandfather, Jose H. Nevarez of T or C, NM; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Karl N. Neel. Mark was very close to his family, especially his cousins. He was a very spiritual person, and loved music. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School and attended St. Mary's of the Plains in Dodge City, KS. He was senior at the University of New Mexico, majoring in journalism and film. Mark was a very artistic person, his interests in music included being a composer and performer. He was active in the theater where he performed in many plays. Mark was a member of the CWA Union and the American Photographers Association. He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Peterson -- Richard"Doc" L. Peterson, D.V.M., 67, a resident of Santa Fe since 1969, died Saturday, July 31, 1999. He was born in Webster, South Dakota, on January 28, 1932, the son of Elta Laughlin and Theodore Peterson. He married Karen Lou Howard on February 15, 1958. His sister, Jeanne Peterson preceded him in death, in February 1963. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1955 in the Mule Corps and as a Medical Technician. He graduated from Colorado State University at Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1963 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He established the Solana Veterinary Clinic in 1969, followed by the St. Francis Animal Clinic. He was an active member of the Veterinary community, acting as a lobbyist in the state legislature. He was awarded the Veterinarian of the Year in 1989 for his efforts. He was an avid fly fisherman and would recommend you use a bead-head nymph #14 at Stone Lake. He is survived by his three children, Rebecca L. Peterson of San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mexico, Geoffrey A. Peterson (Shannon Marshall) currently of El Paso, TX, and Strom H. Ray -- Joy L. Ray, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Saturday, August 7, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bobby J. Ray; sons, Michael T. Ray and wife, Lynn and Mark S. Sinks -- Mitchell S."Mitch" Sinks passed away on Thursday, August 5, 1999, at the age of 55, after a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 17 1/2 years, Judi; stepson, Steven J. Westman, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Paula Fox; granddaughter, Alex Ward; two brothers, Eugene"Bo" Sinks and wife, Jenny and Howard"H.K." Sinks and wife, Carla, all of Oregon; sister, Maxine Pepperdine of California; his beloved Aunt Judy and husband, Ray Murphy of Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Marj Miller of Texas. Mitch leaves behind many friends and neighbors who meant the world to him; and his"babies" Heather and Hannah, his faithful Scotties, who he loved dearly. He owned and operated Mitch's Power Wash for a number of years. There will be a gathering Sunday, August 29, 1999, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mitch and Judi's home, to celebrate Mitch's life. Sumpter -- Robert E. Sumpter, 36, died May 6, 1999, in Mesa, AZ. He is survived by his mother, Betty of Albuquerque; sisters, Carol Sumpter of Albuquerque and Nancy Moore and husband, Lloyd of Huntington, CT; brother, Thomas Sumpter and wife, Mary of Honolulu, HI. Robert graduated from Eldorado High School and attended the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Tech. He was a widely-read student of military history who, in life, found his greatest joy in books. In death, he provided the gift of sight to two persons in need. His was a generous and a loving heart. Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service is planned. If friends desire, a donation to the Albuquerque or Mesa Public Library would be a most fitting memorial. Swallow -- James G. Swallow Sr., 80, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 14 years, and a longtime resident of Albuquerque before that, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 1999 after a long battle with cancer. Raised in Middle Village, New York, attended St. Margarets Elementary, and Bishop McGloughlin High School. He served in the US Military during WWII. He played trombone in Fort Custer Army Band. After an honorable discharge, he returned to play with the big bands of the 40's, where he met and married his wife, Edna. He worked with Les Egart, Tony Pastor, Art Mooney, Mitchell Aires and Skitch Henderson to name a few. After raising four children in Hicksville, New York, moved to New Mexico in 1971, bought Lucky's Cafe and Donut Shop. Retired in Rio Rancho in 1985. James was active at the Meadowlark Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Elmer Swallow; and granddaughter, Lisa ann Swallow. James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna; sons, James Jr. and wife, Anne of Alameda, CA, Judson of Alameda, CA; daughters, Judith Wilhelm and husband, Robert of E. Northport, NY, Joy Swallow of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Renee Moore of Alameda, CA, Jeanette Tivis of Erie, PA, Brian, Matthew and Kenneth Wilhelm of E. Northport, NY, Alyssa Ann and Amber Rose of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Justin Tivis and Shelby Moore. The service for James will be held on Monday, August 9, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Interment will be at the National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. in Santa Fe, NM. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.

Tabor -- Marilynn Wilch Tabor died July 21, 1999 in Vancouver, WA after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born February 1, 1933 in Denver, where she graduated from East High School. Marilynn was a longtime resident of Mercer Island, WA, where she raised her three children and was active in local education, youth sports, Girl Scouts, and Jobs Daughters. She later lived in Northern California, where she worked in the administrative offices of Merced and Chico Public Schools. She eventually moved back to Denver, where she was an executive administrative assistant with Rocky Mountain Blue Cross. She retired and moved to Albuquerque in 1996 to be near her mother and sister. Marilynn had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister, and caring friend. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cooking, and took great pride in her home and garden. She loved animals, especially her beloved cats and dogs. Her family and friends loved her and will miss her dearly and ask that you set aside some time to appreciate the precious moments in life. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Laurel and Bob Powell of Corrales; her aunt and uncle, Elaine and Howard Wheeler of Westlake Village, CA; her three children, daughter, Karen Axell and husband, Paul Neigel of Vancouver, WA; son, Kris Axell and wife, Cheryl of Bellevue, WA; daughter, Karla Axell and husband, Chuck Blumenfeld of Seattle; her three grandsons, Jonathan Axell, Jeffrey Axell and Matthew Winter; and her cat, Miss Kitty. It is her family's desire that those who wish to remember her do so by having annual mammograms ad by encouraging friends and loved one to do the same. Remembrances may also be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 97100, Dallas, TX 75397. There will be private memorial services in Seattle and Rio Rancho.

Willett -- John Russell Willett passed away quietly August 1, 1999 at his home in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bertha Grotta Willett. He is also survived by nieces, Ann Haworth, Ridgeland, MS, Carol Jean Morel, New Orleans, LA, Sandra Bookout, Eckert, CO; nephews, Tom Wayne Willett, Unionville, IN, Leonard Grotta, Palm Springs, CA and Myron Grotta, Lawrence, KS; Godson, Allan Max of Albuquerque; and his sister, Andrea Max-Hopkins, Atlanta, GA. Mr. Willett served in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII, much of the time in China. A geologist, who graduated from the University of NM, worked with Geophysical Exploration Company in Venezuela and with the US Geological survey in NM, followed by self-employment until his retirement. He was born in Tulia, TX to Rev. Thomas Calvin Willett and Mary Wyche Davis. He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Albuquerque. No formal services are planned. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were made by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 891-8200. .DMP
