Allison -- John P. Allison, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for five years, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margie Allison of the family home; sons, John T. Allison of Lake Tahoe, NV, and Michael Allison of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Judith Allison of Concord, CA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, William Allison of Maryland and Richard Allison of Maryland; and sister, Gertrude Atwell of California. Mr. Allison retired from the US Army, served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a loving and loved husband, father, grandfather and brother and was a good church member. Cremation has taken place and private memorial services will be held at a later date. Beene -- Geneva H. Beene, 87, a resident of Belen since 1950, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 1999. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Los Chavez, Jasmine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and a long time member of the Masonic Widows Club. Geneva retired from the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School in 1971. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Beene in 1962. She is survived by her three children, Wayne and his wife, Mary of Winnemucca, Nevada; her daugher, Donna Sue Nicholas and her husband, Robert of Los Chavez; Roy and his wife, Janice of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother, George Hamilton and his wife, Kathryn of Dunlap, TN. Geneva is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Monday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Los Chavez. Cremation will take place immediately following services. Interment will be held at a later date. Chavez -- Vickie T. Chavez, 70, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, July 23, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Isidro Chavez of the family home; daughters, Barbara Calderon and husband, Stanley, Doris Sedillo and husband, Gilbert of Albuquerque; son, Charlie Chavez and wife, Sue of Culver City, CA; daughters, Patricia Quintana and husband, George, Katherine Martinez and husband, Herman, Sr., and Arlene Portillo, all of Albuquerque; son, Isidro Chavez, Jr., of Albuquerque; daughter, Arlene Jaramillo of Albuquerque; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Trujillo and wife, Ramona of Albuquerque; and sister, Helen Flores of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Chavez; and granddaughter, Victoria Quintana. She was a member of San Jose Parish. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway, SE. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Parish with Father Jose Farias, S.D.B., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos Calderon, Michael Sedillo, Joseph Quintana, Herman Martinez, Jr., Curtis Chavez and Valerie Portillo. Gabaldon -- Mr. Albert"Big Al of the Bird of Paradise" Gabaldon 78, and a life long Albuquerque resident, business owner and World War II veteran passed away on Saturday, July 24, 1999, surrounded by his family and friends after a heroic battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carmen Gabaldon. Mr. Gabaldon is survived by two sisters, Lala King and Loretta Aragon. He is also survived by one daughter Bea Ann Garcia and husband, Lawrence; three sons, Albert Jr., and wife, Pam, Eddie and wife, Berlinda, and youngest child, Rick and Wife, Lori. Albert has nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson. He will be loved and missed by numerous other relatives and friends throughout the United States. Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle, NE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Catholic Church also on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Vigil celebrant. His grandchildren, Michael, Charles, Todd, Brian and Keith Gabaldon and Mark Martinez will service as casket bearers. Gilbert -- Ernest Sanchez Gilbert, 85, a resident of Belen, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 1999. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 64 years, serving as a 4th Degree Knight. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and an honorary member of the Servite Community. Ernest was also a Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, taking communion to people who were unable to attend church. Ernest retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after 30 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosemary in 1941; one grandson, Patrick Henry in 1983. Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Delfina of the family home in Pueblitos; five children, Maxine Diemer of Belen, Eileen McBride and her husband, Tom of Houston, TX, Joyce Hahn of Pueblitos, Ernest P. Gilbert and his fiancee, Stella of Tome, Phillip L. Gilbert and his wife, Ann of Pueblitos; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Pat Sanchez and his wife, Margaret of Hemet, CA; two sisters, Carmen Norris of Albuquerque and Josephine Kwaikoswki of Northern California. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Hoyt -- Claudine Hoyt, age 83, passed away July 22 in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gwynn Hoyt; and son, Adrian Stungo of London, England. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Joseph and wife, Colleen; a sister, Viviane Furst of Edinburgh, Scotland; son, David Stungo and daughter, Christine and wife, Ruth of Geneva, Switzerland; a granddaughter, Naomi Stungo of London, England; her mother, Ruth Stungo; a grandson, Ben Stungo of Leeds, England; nephews, Paul Joseph and family, Pat Joseph and family; nieces, Marilyn Posner and family of Dix Hills; nephew, Stephen Furst and family; nieces, Susan Strahan of Edinburgh, Scotland, Joan and Gary Heymann, and cousins of Albuquerque. Claudine Hoyt was active in many areas, Hospice, Pres. Volunteer. Claudine and her husband, Gwynn owned and operated the Hoyts Dinnerbell Restaurant for many years, she leaves behind many friends and family. She will be missed. Memorial services will be held at B'nai Israel at Indian School and Washington NE, Monday, July 26, 1999, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may send a contribution to Hospice in her memory.

Lackey -- Willie Raymond Lackey, 94, passed away Thursday, July 22, 1999 in a Belen Nursing Home. He was a long-time resident of New Mexico having come here with his family in 1916 at age twelve. He was born in Paint Rock, Concho County, Texas on October 14, 1904, to Will and Ethel (Owens) Lackey. They lived in several Texas towns before moving to Cedarvale, NM between Willard and Corona. He was a pinto bean farmer, carpenter and rancher. After he retired from ranching, he moved to Belen where he resided until his demise. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ethel and his brother, Paul. He is survived by one brother, Fred Lackey of Lordsburg, NM; three daughters, and sons-in-law, Ruby and Ralph Carter of Albuquerque, NM, Ruth and Jackie Davidson of Corona, NM, and Wanda and Bill Wood of Belen, NM; one son, Raymond Lackey Jr., of Portales, NM; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lackey will lie in state Tuesday, July 27, 1999, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair. A grave side funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at the Cedarvale Cemetery in Cedarvale, NM with Norman and Wilfred officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Cain, Benny Shupe, Jack James, Les Gladwell, Eddie Gladwell and Thomas Husband. Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Goetsch, Roland Lackey and Paul Gladwell. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM.

Lowrey -- I.D."Barney" Lowrey, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Ouida Lowrey of Albuquerque; sons, Keith Lowrey and wife, Holly of Denver, CO and Jim Lowrey and wife, Gwen, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Piper and James Lowrey of Denver, CO and Zach Guay of Albuquerque; brothers, Myron Lowrey and wife, Heidi of Rancho Cordova, CA and Gene Lowrey and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque; and sister, Beverly Slade of Viroqua, WI. Mr. Lowrey was born December 1, 1922 in LaFarge, WI. He married Ouida McKinley on July 12, 1953. He worked for Western Electric for 38 years. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Rev. Rueben Carlson officiating. Lucero -- Mr. Ray B. Lucero died on Saturday at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lucero; six sons, Carlos Lucero and wife, Lillia, Ernie Lucero and wife, Rayan, Pat Lucero and wife, Audrey, Teddy Lucero and wife, Bridget, Ray Lucero Jr., and wife, Lisa and Marvin Lucero and wife, Sherie; three daughters, Ramona Ayon and husband, Gilbert, Louisa Lucero and Andrea Angela Varnadore and husband, Tom; one sister, Sofia Jaramillo; 30 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Lucero will be held on Tuesday at the Risen Savior Catholic Church where the mass will be celebrated at 9;00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his six sons, Carlos Lucero, Ernie Lucero, Pat Lucero, Teddy Lucero, Ray Lucero Jr. and Marvin Lucero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mario Rivera, Carlos Rivera and Leroy Lucero. Merren -- George Merren, born June 22, 1931, died Thursday, July 22, 1999. George was a Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the American Legiom, Post 69. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 37 years of service. George is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alice of Albuquerque; three sons; Richard of Bangkok, Thailand, Tom and David, both of Albuquerque; and two granddaughters. Visitations will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. today at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Evening Services will be conducted this evening at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alameda Mortuary with the American Legion Post 69 officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, July 27, 1999 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, time to be announced. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 69. Tafoya -- Piedad Compos Tafoya, born April 5th, 1905, passed away in her sleep, July 22, 1999. A lifetime resident of New Mexico, she has left a legacy of 8 children: Louise Gonzales, Tony Tafoya, Don Tafoya, Ema Armijo, MaryAna Fernandez, Alfonso Tafoya, Larry Tafoya and Raymond Tafoya. With those 8 children she left 56 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren. She will be loved and missed very deeply. May God keep her always.
