Avila -- Alberto Lara Avila, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 37 years, died recently at his home. He is survived by his daughter, Maria C. Dorsey and her husband, Bryan of Albuquerque; son, Albert Avila Jr. of Albuquerque; son, Mark D. Avila of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, Johnny E. Avila of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Flora M. Mascarenas and husband, Steve of Albuquerque; daughter, Silvana Roybal and husband, Dennis of Albuquerque; son, Edward J. Avila of Albuquerque; son, Richard D. Avila of Tucson, Arizona; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Josephina Guevara of Plainview, Texas; and a brother, Espiridion"Piro" Avila of Plainview, Texas. Alberto was employed as a brick layer here in Albuquerque since 1962. Alberto was an avid artistic painter and a member of the Barelas Senior's Center. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE.

Candelaria -- Gabriel Candelaria, 37, beloved husband, father and son, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Mr. Candelaria was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He is survived by his loving wife, Isabel; daughter, Monica; son, Gabriel Jr.; grandsons, Michael; mother, Diana Flores; father, Eddie Candelaria; mother and father-in-law, Mike and Dolores Mirabal; brothers, Victor and Richard; sister, Valerie; brother and sisters-in-law, Michael Mirabal, Patricia Baca, and Ana Marie Mirabal; grandmothers, Theresa Santillanes and Sally Mc Guinness. He was well loved by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and by his Godson, Ruben Martinez Jr. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at Victory Outreach Church, Bridge at Five Points, on Saturday, July 3, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery. Carnes -- Col. Sam A. Carnes, U.S.A.F. (Ret.), 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Sunday, June 27, 1999. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Charlotte B. Carnes of Albuquerque; daughter, Cynthia Carnes of Corrales; son, Sam A. Carnes Jr. and wife, Nancy of Knoxville, TN; grandson, James H. Wall Jr. and wife, Chandra of Rio Rancho; granddaughters, Suzanne O'Neill and husband, Bill of Albuquerque, Charlotte Smith and husband, Doug of Overland Park, KS, and Cindy M. Carnes of Knoxville, TN; great-grandson, Christopher Wall; and great-granddaughter, Amanda Wall, both of Rio Rancho. Col. Carnes was preceded in death by his brothers, John P. Carnes and James J. Carnes III. He was a veteran of WWII, having served for 27 years in the U.S. Air Force an an administrative officer in the Pacific and C.B.I. Theaters, retiring in 1961. After his retirement, he was associated with the American Automobile Association. Col. Carnes was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Lyle A. Reece officiating. Chavez -- Christopher Jerome (Chris) Chavez, 37, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne M. Chavez and children, Christopher Aaron and Valerie Joyce; his parents, Joe and Joyce Chavez; two sisters, Marybeth and husband, Joe Villegas and Jane Chavez; four brothers, Joseph Chavez, James Chavez, Charles Chavez and wife, Lupe, and Richard Chavez; grandfather, Epifinio (Piffie) Chavez; his father and mother-in-law, George and Diana Benavidez; sister-in-law, Angela and husband, Mark Chacon, April Benavidez; brothers-in-law, George Benavidez and wife, Georgia, John Benavidez and wife, Melanie, Anthony Benavidez and Josh Benavidez; grandparents-in-law, Rosendo and Luisa Cruz and Neph Benavidez; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Firefighters Local #224, former member of Air National Guard, and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School. He did volunteer work for Mountain View Community Center, and numerous local charities through Firefighters Optimist Club. He is known for his loving heart, and reached out to everyone he met. He will be missed by everyone he loved and who loved him. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Monday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Reynolds -- Margaret M. Reynolds died June 23, 1999 in San Diego, California. She is survived by her brother, James B. Reynolds of Wilsonville, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Reynolds; her parents, John and Agnes Reynolds; two brothers, John and Eugene Reynolds; and two sisters, Elsie Wootton and Barbara Allard. Born September 27, 1903, Margaret attended St. Mary's School and Western School of Commerce. She worked for Albuquerque Gas and Electric, as well as acting as business manager for her parents at Reynolds' Dairy. She later lived in Boston for many years, then California. Ryan -- Dr. Allen D. Ryan, age 56, died suddenly on the afternoon of June 28, 1999 in an automobile accident. He was born on June 19, 1943 in Lockwood, Missouri to Dr. and Mrs. Devoy Ryan and often talked of many fond childhood memories, especially of the time spent on his grandparent's Missouri farms and, in particular, with his cousins. Allen graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque, received his Bachelor and Master's degrees from the University of New Mexico, and his Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. While teaching Computer-Aided Drafting, Architecture, and Engineering Descriptive Geometry at Sandia High School in Albuquerque, his program was sited as the most outstanding high school drafting program in the State of New Mexico and he also was named"New Mexico Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year" in 1983. Allen was currently teaching Industrial Technology at Mesa Junior High School and had completed 34 years of teaching. He especially loved golf, the Denver Broncos, the Arizona Cardinals, and was known for a great sense of humor. Allen is survived by his wife, Randa; daughter, Stacey; son, Steve Aguilar and wife, Lori; son, Rob Aguilar; parents, Devoy and Leota Ryan; sister, Jeanette Madge Paroz and husband, Roger; nephew, David Michael LaNear and wife, Kymberly and many other relatives. Sanchez -- Gillie"Gil" Sanchez, 82, a lifelong resident of Belen, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 1, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Gil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Priscilla of the family home in Belen; four children, Speaker of the House for New Mexico, Raymond Sanchez of Albuquerque, Regina Elkins and her husband, Gary of Belen, Gloria Pena of Albuquerque, and Senator Michael Sanchez and his wife, Lynn of Los Chavez; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Suzie Jaramillo of Belen and Christina Baca of Albuquerque. Stowe -- Leland L. Stowe, 61, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 11 years, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Leland was born May 27, 1938, the son of Lloyd and Leatha Dandurand Stowe in Worthington, Minnesota. Lee had been a Quality Control Manager with the Roses Southwest Paper Company before retiring. He also served in the US Air Force for 20 years. Lee is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Rio Rancho; four children, F. Scott Stowe and his wife, Karen of Colorado Springs, CO, Deitria Clark and her husband, Jeff of Rio Rancho, David Stowe of Denver, CO, Bradley Stowe and his wife, Anna Marie of Colorado Springs, CO; three sisters, LaDonna Gertson and Darlene Wamund of Minnesota and Alene Holland of Wisconsin; and eight grandchildren, Lauren, Kaitlin, Justin, Alisha, Arysta, Jeremy, David II, and Nicole-Marie. Trimberger -- Victor Edward Trimberger, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, passed away on June 23, 1999. He is survived by three nephews, Theodore Hillert and wife, Lois of Tomah, WS, Dr. Richard Hillert and wife, Gloria of Melrose Park, IL, the Rev. Dale Trimberger and wife, Karen of Columbus, IN; a niece, Elaine Trimberger of Appleton, WS, Mrs. Wayne Trimberger of Mesa, AZ; and a number of cousins. Victor was born in Granton, Wisconsin, the son of John and Emma Fravert Trimberger, both deceased. He was employed by a number of Wisconsin businesses. He was married to the former Maxine M. Otis of Mondlvi, Wisconsin, who predeceased him. He served in the Army Engineers in WWII and in the States and the Philippine Islands. In 9146, he was employed by the Veterans Administration, Chicago Regional Office as a Contract Officer. In 1951, he was employed by the Defense Nuclear Agency until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge #68, and Scottish Rite of Santa Fe. Cremation and burial in the National Cemetery, in Santa Fe, has taken place. If desired, memorials may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 7833 Tramway Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, where a memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, July 4, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. Disposition by Sunrise Cremation Society.
