Cato -- Harley M. Cato, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died June 25, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Cato of the family home; son, Wayne Cato and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque; daughter, Kathy Battleson and husband, David of Britt, IA; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Claude Cato and wife, Ola of North Little Rock, AR, and Emory Cato and wife, Flora of Little Rock, AR; stepchildren, Patricia, Dale, Timothy, and James all of Wyoming; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Cooley -- Dan W. Cooley II, 24, a resident of Chicago, IL since 1996, and a former resident of Albuquerque, died in Chicago as a result of an auto accident. He is survived by his mother, Shelley Cooley; father, Daniel W. Cooley and wife, Paula; grandmother, Betty Self, all of Albuquerque; aunts and uncles, Peter Cooley of Albuquerque, Cherryl Lingo and husband, Dean of Flora Vista, NM, Randy Self of Carlsbad, and Rick Self and wife, Brieta of Sherman, TX; and numerous cousins. Dan was born in Albuquerque in 1975. He attended Del Norte High School and the University of New Mexico. He then moved to Chicago, IL in 1996. He was a loving son, grandson, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service.

Gerken -- Rosanne Holler Gerken, age 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died June 22, 1999. She is survived by her brothers, Edward and Richard Holler; a niece, Jeanette Ross of Los Lunas; and other family members. A graduate of Fordham University, Mrs. Gerken taught school and served in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge on December 13, 1945. She traveled extensively with her husband, Lt. Col. Fred Gerken, during his long military career in the U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Gerken preceded her in death in 1984. An active Catholic, Mrs. Gerken supported the work of several religious communities serving the poor and homeless. Friends are invited to attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE, on Thursday, July 1st, with a coffee reception to immediately follow. Hodge -- Anita R. Vidal Hodge, 91, died Thursday, June 24, 1999. She is survived by her son, Joseph Allen Vidal of Gallup; daughter, Sharon Rose Lau of Park Ridge, IL; three grandchildren, Craig Allen Vidal of Colorado Springs, CO, Bruce Marvin Vidal and wife, Melinda Sue and Kimberly Sharon Esparza and husband, Leonard Luis, all of Gallup four great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Vidal and Brittany Nicole Vidal, both of Colorado Springs, CO, and Savieay Luis Esparza and Casia Anyssia Esparza, both of Gallup. Mrs. Hodge was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the Daughters of the Nile. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, with Dr. Paul Debenport officiating. Holmes -- Jan and Shary Holmes, residents of Albuquerque since 1943, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999. They are survived by their sons, Steve Holmes and wife, Betsy S. Nichols of Tijeras, Sam Holmes and wife, Paula of Albuquerque, and Shane Holmes of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Celina Holmes and husband, Karl of Albuquerque, Melissa Holmes and Kelsey Holmes, both of Denver, CO; grandson, Casey Holmes; great-granddaughter, Rayana Holmes of Albuquerque; Mrs. Holmes is survived by her father, Doyle Hicks of Albuquerque; mother, Truby Metcalf of Denver, CO; brother, John Hicks of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Terry Zappa and husband, Tony of Chicago, IL, Carol Glasby and husband, Jim of Denver, CO, and Kay Metcalf of Dallas, TX; Mr. Holmes is survived by his brother, Norris Dean Holmes; sisters, Derlene Allen and husband, Joseph of Akron, OH, and Kay and Fanny Mae Taylor and husband, Jay, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were members of American Legion Post #13. Mr. Holmes served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. He had a 25 year career at Sandia National Labs. Mrs. Holmes was a loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed handicrafts and sewing. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes never met anyone they didn't like. Memorial services will be held Monday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Bishop Paul Sowards officiating. Lucero -- Seferino Lucero, 88, a resident of Bernalillo, passed away June 26, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Fidela Lucero of the family home; five daughters Julia Garcia of Albuquerque, Helen Lucero of Macon, Georgia, Virginia Garcia and husband, Frank of Bernalillo, Dolores Montaoy and husband, Joe of Bernalillo, and Elizabeth Dominguez, of Bernalillo; three sons, Max Dominguez and wife, Norma of Henderson, Nevada, Robert Lucero and wife, Maggie of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lawrence Lucero and wife, Eileen of Las Vegas, Nevada; on sister, Rachel Martinez of Corrales; 18 grand childrena and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Esmerenciana Montoya; sister, Pricilla Montoya, and grandson, David Garcia. Mr. Lucero was a member of the 3rd Platoon, Company C, 146th Battalion during WWII serving in northern France, Andennes Rhineland, and Central Europe. Friends may visit today from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 29,1999 also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Meissner-Boyer -- Meissner- John Vincent Meissner-Boyer, infant son of Leonard Boyer and Heidi Meissner of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 25, 1999. Vincent was loved by all who knew him. He is also survived by his grandparents, Karen and Gene Shaw; uncles, Kris, James, and John-Meissner, and Benjamin Boyer; aunt, Lisa Meissner; many"Aunties" and"Uncles" at UNMH Children's Hospital; and many loving family members. Tafoya -- Tony S. Tafoya, 70, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, June 26, 1999, surrounded by his loving family. Tony is survived by his wife, Celsa Tafoya. Tony's family included Simon and wife, Connie, Edwina Chavez and husband, Stan, Ken and wife, Martie, Anthony and wife, Barbara, David and Mary Louise; step-children, Lando, Cynthia, Fabian and wife, Pam; and brothers, Ross and wife, Rose, Pat and wife, Annie. Tony had 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was a general contractor who because of his reputation as a perfectionist, was well-respected in the industry. He was an avid sportsman. All his family will remember the good time they had fishing, hunting and camping.
