Arnold -- Nancy Arnold, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1987, passed away at home on Saturday, June 5, 1999."For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2nd. Tim) In 1996, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Arnold She is survived by their children, Andrea Anderson and husband, James of Los Alamos, John E. Arnold and wife, Belinda of Aurora, CO, and Jane Montoya and husband, Chris of Bernalillo. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Matthew and Lora Anderson, Meghan and Brian Montoya, and Chris and Jesse Stewart; a sister, Kathleen Price and husband, Allan of Dickinson, ND; a brother, John R. Ferguson and wife, Edith of Austin, TX; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 10:00 a.m., at Acantilado Vista, (920 Riverview Dr., in Rio Rancho). Interment will take place on Friday, June 11th, 9:00 a.m., at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Another memorial service will be held in Greely, CO on Sunday, June 13. Benavidez -- Albita Benavidez, 80, beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, was called home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 5, 1999. She was a lifelong resident of New Mexico; a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Benavidez was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Benavidez. She is survived by one daughter, Norina Rey; two sons, Louie Benavidez and wife, Virginia, Marty Benavidez and wife, Rebecca; eight grandchildren, Nadine Schlamp, Cesar Rey, Katrina Yerbich, Martin E. Benavidez, Adam Benavidez, Bianca Benavidez, Martin Benavidez and Deanna Benavidez; and seven great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held Monday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesdsay, 1:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Church, with the Reverend James Moore, as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Cesar Rey, Martin E. Benavidez, Martin Benavidez, Adam Benavidez, Michael Yerbich and Mike Schlamp. Haines -- Dorrey Lee Haines, a resident of San Gabriel Manor, in Albuquerque, passed away at the age of 80. Mrs. Haines was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lee E. Haines, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Dorrey Lee West of Albuquerque; and her son, Lee E. Haines Jr. and wife, Thais D. Haines of Placitas, NM. Mrs. Haines is survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Lee West of Albuquerque, Stephen Lee Haines of San Diego, CA, Lorraine Michelle Raznik of San Diego, CA, Thomas G. Duffey of Lancaster, CA, and Paige E. Duffey of Escondido, CA; great-grandchildren are Brianne A. Raznik and Chloe S. Raznik of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. Benjamin H. Haines and wife, Julia of Las Cruces, NM; and cousin-in-law, Rita Wolters of Corrales, NM; one niece, Bili Kay Chatham of Scottsdale, AZ; four nephews, Benjamin H. Haines Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, Edward M. Haines of Las Cruces, NM, Brian D. Haines of Las Cruces, NM and Brandon H. Haines of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM. Dorrey was born in Hayden, AZ, May 19, 1919. She grew up in San Angelo, TX on a sheep ranch with her brother, step-father, Joe Skinner, and her mother. She graduated from Hockaday Girls' School in Dallas, TX. Dorrey got her pilot's license at the age of 20, and flew from their sheep ranch in San Angelo, to their ranch in Trinidad, CO, to the wool market in Albuquerque. Dorrey was an active member in the Albuquerque Junior League, and of the Presbyterian Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid and accomplished golfer, a charter member at Four Hills Country Club, and of the Four Hills Women's Golf Association. She had many dear friends she loved to play golf with. She loved competition, and won and finished well in many tournaments. She had a hole in one for her record. Dorrey was a gracious hostess, and loved to have parties; some lasting all night. She and her husband, Lee, would fix huevos rancheros for everyone. She loved to dance. Many thanks to Jan Gossett and her staff at San Gabriel Manor for the excellent care and love they gave to our mom. Keith -- Mildred B. Keith, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, June 4, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Algernon Keith; and one brother, Lewis Fahrlender. She is survived by three sons, David Keith and wife, Alicia, Daniel Keith and wife, Cheryl, and Matthew Keith and wife, Leticia; one sister, Lois Ritchie. Also surviving are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:00 a.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Keller -- Herbert T. Keller, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died at his home Saturday, June 5, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen of the family home; daughters, Edith L. Kane of Albuquerque, and Sheila McGee and husband, Michael of Houston, TX; sons, Michael T. Keller and wife, Marilyn of Dallas, TX, and Robert J. Keller and wife, Rita of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Patrick, Todd and Teresa Kane, Kevin, Brian, and Paul McGee, and Chris and Ryan Keller; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy. Mr. Keller was the President of the Mountain View Meat Company. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Maes -- Elena Maes, 25, a resident of Albuquerque for seven years, died Thursday, June 3, 1999. She was born March 8, 1974 in Ely, NV. Elena is survived by her father, Benito Maes; mother, Lucille Maes; brother, Steven Dominic Maes and wife, Kristee, all of Albuquerque; sister, JoAnna Maes of Los Angeles, CA; niece, Kayleigh Maes; grandmother, Marie Armijo; and many other family and friends. Elena resided in Silver City for 14 years. Her achievements were in music and songwriting. Elena majored in Psychology at the University of New Mexico and was a member of numerous academic fraternities. She enjoyed playing golf, singing, traveling, and skiing. Elena will be deeply missed by family and friends. Though she was only here a short time, she brightened many lives. Memorial Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Martinez -- Estefanita"Stephie" Martinez, 89, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away Friday, June 4, 1999. She is survived by two nieces, Evangeline Lopez and husband, Bonnie of Albuquerque, Theresa Johnson of Parkersburg, WV; a nephew, Patrick Lopez of Orange, CA; nine grandnephews and nieces and two great-grandnephews. Martinez -- Gerald H. Martinez, 55, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 5, 1999 after a very long illness. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Martinez of the family home; sister, Lorraine Chavez and husband, Phillip of Albuquerque; brothers, Don Martinez of Moriarty and Anthony Martinez and wife, Yolanda of Albuquerque; foster children, Gary Bogden and wife, Theresa, Glen Bogden and wife, Beverly, Jeffery Herrera, and Kris Trujillo, all of Albuquerque; nieces, Felicia Chavez, Lynette Chavez, Melanie Lucero and husband, Shane, Georgiana Chavez, all of Albuquerque, Shelley Martinez of Hurst, TX, and Josephine Encinias of Las Vegas, NM; nephews, Norberto Monje and Phillip Chavez; great-nieces, Kymberly Coleman, Zanique Lucero, Kenda Pina and Shinia Baca; great-nephews, Brian Ortiz, Nicholas Farris and Gabriel Chavez-McBroom. Gerald graduated from Valley High School in 1962. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime employee at Sun-Tran Transit Systems. Nichols -- Wanada Lorraine Nichols, 56, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Sunday, June 6, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Allen of the family home; son, Loren B. Parrish -- Norman Henry Parrish, 81, died Thursday, June 3, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Parrish of the family home; daughter, Sandra Lee Duvall and husband, Del of Parisppany, NJ; and brother-in-law, Charles E. Beiser and wife, Cynthia of Eagle Mills, NY. Norman graduated from Woodbury College with a B.S. in Commercial Art. He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, 292nd Joint Assault Signal Co. and made seven assault landings at Guam, Ormoc Bay, Ryukyos, and Le Shima. Norman worked as editorial production chief at"This Week" Magazine for 23 years. He later was production editor at Library Journal; then was production editor for the Software Company Informatic; making English out of"Comptuereze." He retired in 1978 and moved to Albuquerque in 1980. He joined SCORE (Service Corp. of Retired Executives) and completed the Albuquerque Citizen Police Academy Course. He was also a member of Heritage Hills Safety Watch. Memorial services will be held Monday, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles officiating. Patten -- James"Pat" Patten, 90, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 3, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Helen Patten; son, John Patten; granddaughters, Valerie Cook and husband, Gordon, Monica Patten and Melanie Patten; and great-granddaughter, Helen Chavez, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Patten worked for Albuquerque Indian School for over 35 years. He was a certified Doctor of Motors. Mr. Patten was a decendent of Cochise. He was a former member of Gideons International. Mr. Patten was an avid fisherman and he invented the"jet" lure. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School NE, with Pastor Melinda Wagner officiating. Schmille -- Jayce Brandon Schmille, age 24, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, born August 21, 1974, passed away. He is survived by his parents, Pamela R. and Christopher L.; brothers, Hoyt J. Schmille and Seth Schmille; grandparents, Donald E. Schmille, Charmaine Schmille and Otis J. Killian; aunts and uncles, Richard E. and Judy Schmille and their sons, Garrett and Derik Schmille, Randall J. and Betty Leslie Schmille and their children, Josh and Natalie Schmille, Marianne and Joe Murphy and their children, Bryan and Hayley Murphy, all of Albuquerque. Sekot -- John Maximilliano Sekot, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 49 years, went to be with our Lord, June 3, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife Anita Valdez Sekot. John and Anita married on March 1934. Surviving are two sons: Joseph and wife Mercy Sekot, Johnny and wife Rickie Sekot, four daughters: Marie and husband Robert Martinez, Angela and husband Philip Ballengee, Jeannie and husband Maurice Mackey and Loretta and husband Levi Duran. John was blessed with 17 grandchildren-Steven Sekot, Yvonne Lindsay and Joseph Sekot; Fred Sekot, Cheryl Parks and Shelly Allenbach; Robert McGrew, Martin Martinez, Michael Martinez, Kathy Gunderson and Christine Woisin; David, Nicholas and Victoria Ballengee; Anton Mackey; Danielle and Levi J. Duran. John is survived by three brothers-Matias, Victor and David Padilla; two sisters-Grace Britton and Martha Benjamin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fidel and Blas Padilla. John is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. John was born in Dawson, New Mexico, once a thriving coal mining town. He was born to John and Marianna Sekrotes on May 29, 1914. His parents were married in Las Vegas, New Mexico at Our Lady of Sorrows Church August 23, 1913. John Sekrotes, a Greek immigrant, came to New Mexico to work in the coal mines. Mr. Sekrotes died on October 22, 1913, in one of the nations worst coal mine explosions. After the fatal mine explosion, his mother married Victor Padilla. Subsequently, John was raised by his grandparents-Epifanio and Gregoria C de Baca. Eventually, John followed his fathers footsteps and became a coal miner. After the coal mines closed in 1950, John and Anita moved their family to Albuquerque where John worked at ACF Ind., finally retiring from General Electric in 1976. After John's retirement, he spent his time enjoying his family, working sports pools and developed a passion for crossword puzzles. Visitation was on Sunday, May 6, 1999, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Sandia Funeral Care. Rosary followed on Sunday, May 6, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd., NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be today, May 7, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Risen Savior, with the Rev. Paul Baca officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Steven Sekot, Joey Sekot, Freddie Sekot, Martin Martinez, Michael Martinez, David Ballengee, Nicholas Ballengee, Anton Mackey and Levi Duran. Tapia -- Mr. Esaias Tapia died on Friday at the age of 82. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Cuellar and husband, Henry, Virginia Catalano and husband, Joe; one brother, Ubaldo Tapia; five grandchildren, Tracy, Cehristy, Rosalie, Christina and Matthew; and one great-grandchild, Mickaela. Graveside services for Mr. Tapia will be held on Tuesday at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Tony Cuellar, Joe Catalano, Gabriel Sandoval, Lawrence Cuellar, Leroy Tapia and Leonard Marquez. Honorary pallbearer will be James Hatcher.
