Balint -- Leslie Bela Balint, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died May 18, 1999 in a local hospital. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Jones of Sandia Park, NM; grandson, John Miller and fiancee, Tonie Baker of Albuquerque. Mr. Balint was a member of ARRL and an avid Ham Operator. He loved to sing and had a great voice. He was known for his good sense of humor. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and trains, especially the locomotives. He was also into Civil War history. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 20, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Beall -- Marcia McClary Beall, 68, born January 4, 1931, in Dawson, New Mexico, died May 15, 1999, at her home with family members at her side. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, George; two daughters, Nancy Nickoley and husband, Paul and their sons, Scott, Todd and Karl of Highlands Ranch, CO, Sandra Russell and husband, William and their son, Aidan of New York City; one brother, J. Robert McClary and wife, Sonja of Eureka, CA; one sister, Carol McClary Myers of Albuquerque; and numerous nephews and nieces. Marcia volunteered countless hours during her husband's military career and established homes in Kentucky, Germany, Oklahoma, Washington, Texas, Kansas, Washington, DC, and Albuquerque. Since 1973 she had taken care of all administrative responsibilities for the family business. Marcia was a founding member of the Convention and Activities Committee of the New Mexico Home Builders Association and gave generously of her time and talent for more than eight years. Her particular focus each year was the design and fabrication of unique tote bags that quickly became the"signature event" for the Association trips and caused her to be known affectionately as"The Bag Lady." Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Beatty -- Pearl Beatty, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, joined the Lord Monday, May 17, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Jack W. Beatty and wife, Dorothy of Denver, CO, Larry D. Beatty of Salt Lake City, UT and Darrell Beatty of Albuquerque; daughters, Naomi McGee and husband, Hugh of Albuquerque, Emma Cunningham and husband, John and Erma Bellm and husband, Robert L., all of Grand Junction, CO; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, John Woodruff; and sisters, Agnes Cramer, Alice Humes and Helen. Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham; sister; three children; one grandchild; and her parents. She was a devout Christian and a devoted mother. Bennett -- Lila Bennett, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999. She is survived by daughter, Nikki Kull and husband, Michael; son, Max D. Bennett and wife, Pam; sister, Wanda L. Kilgo; grandchildren, Nolan Bennett and wife, Katie, Meredith Bennett, Krista Earickson and husband, Steve, Heath and wife, Lani Kull; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Earickson and Britney Hanchett. Lila enjoyed hiking all different trails throughout New Mexico. She was the co-owner of The Gals women's shop in Portales in the 1980s and a member of the Portales Women's Club and Garden Club. Lila was active in First Methodist Church in Portales and St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. She also participated in arts and crafts and was an accomplished seamstress. Bissell -- Elizabeth Rose Ochoa Bissell suffered a stroke on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 and died at home on Monday, May 17 under the care of her daughters and hospice staff. Those who will remember her with love and admiration are her four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Charles Wohlenberg, Sally and Gilbert Quintana, Denise and Jason Kent and Wendy and Barney Fuller; her precious grandchildren, Julia, Jacob, Carson and Spencer; her mother, Rose Ochoa; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine Kuntz, Margaret and Ed Siel, Helen and Steve Shea and Marie and Quinn Matthewson and her many nieces and nephews. Liz was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Bissell; father, Henry Ochoa; and brother, Henry Ochoa Jr. She will also be remembered fondly by her many kind friends and neighbors. Liz was born on January 23, 1926 in Otis, CO. She was a high school basketball all-star and as a young woman in the 1940s contributed to the war effort as a airplane riveter for the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA. Among many other interesting jobs throughout her life, she especially enjoyed her time as a legal secretary for the New Mexico State Public Defenders Office. She was also a wonderful seamstress who kept children, grandchildren and other family members well clothed. She always felt her greatest joy, however, was raising her children and grandchildren. After her husband's death in 1995, Liz remained active with the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. We will always remember her as an extremely kind and tolerant woman. She loved people and always had a big smile and a ready laugh. She had lots of love to give and would easily do anything for her family and friends. As a childhood friend once said of her,"You know, Liz never knew a stranger." We can't begin to say how much we love her and will miss her. A viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 21, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE, at Claremont. Brannan -- Glen Brannan, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Nena A. Brannan of the home; sons, Dale Brannan and wife, Beverly of St. Louis, MO, Paul Brannan and wife, Jody of Albuquerque, and Gary Brannan and wife, Virginia of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Dina and husband, Jim Patterson Jr., John Brannan, Mark Brannan, David Brannan, Joie Brannan, and Paulette Brannan; brothers, John Brannan of Showlow, AZ and Richard Brannan and wife, Gloria of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Evelyn of Belen; five nephews; and ten nieces. Mr. Brannan was a member of Mountainside Church of Christ and was a song leader in the Church of Christ for over 60 years. He retired from the USAF and then worked for Hutchison Fruit Company as a bookkeeper and office manager. Conder -- Theresa Conder, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1930, died peacefully in her home following an extended illness, Monday, May 17, 1999. Dick -- Alice Rice Dick, 80, passed away May 18, 1999. Alice is survived by her two sons, Jack and Terry, longtime resident of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie, a resident of Denver, CO. Alice was born in Michigan City, Indiana and retired with her husband, Jack, to Albuquerque in 1984. She was active in local Bridge functions and the family business, TOP GOD RESTAURANTS, until her illness curtailed her activities. Alice loved Albuquerque and her many friends, but had no wish for memorial services and other remembrances. Her remains, along with her husband's, will be placed in the family plot in Michigan City. Harris -- COL (Ret) Judd Thomas Harris, Jr. 11/24/20 - 5/19/99COL (Ret) Judd T. Harris, Jr. passed away Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at his home in Albuquerque. Judd was born on November 24, 1920 in Hoquaim, Washington. Judd was married by proxy to Vinita"Nita" Evelyn Booth on August 14, 1943 while serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. They later reaffirmed their vows in Seattle, Washington on November 11, 1944 after his return from the war in the South Pacific. Judd was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War. Judd joined the U.S. Army shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor as a Private and rose to the rank of Full Colonel during the course of a thirty (30) year military career. Judd and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1967, where he later retired from the military and went on to teach middle school science in Los Lunas. Judd is survived by his loving wife, Nita; his daughter, Kristin Pilling, grandchildren, Erin and Jason Pilling; son, Michael and wife, Sandy, grandchildren, Sarrah and Charlotte; son, Craig, grandchildren, Amie and Eric; great-grandchild, Destinee; son, Scott and wife, Deedee, grandchildren, Shane and Cole; and son, Steven and wife, Gena, grandchildren, Logan and Denny. Judd was a dedicated family man. He actively participated with the growth and development of his five children, Kristin, Michael, Craig, Scott, and Steven through Boy Scouts and the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque. Judd was also a master cabinet maker, a Free Mason and an accomplished home builder. Daddy, your loving wife, Nita, your children and family will miss you. Hatchell -- Neal Franklin Hatchell, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Monday, May 17, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Edna E. Hatchell of 61 of the family home; two sons, Kirk Hatchell and wife, Beth of Albuquerque and Jim N. Hatchell of Albuquerque; and grandchild, Zeke Hatchell. He was a member of Mountain Side Church of Christ and child of God. Mr. Hatchell was an Army Veteran of WWII. Neal was also a member of VFW. Mr. Hatchell founded Hatchell Brothers Construction Company into a highly successful company of 47 years to present. He was a mentor and supporter of many fledgling businessmen and companies in Albuquerque. Hendrix -- Ralph E. Hendrix, 84, a 40-year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 17, 1999. He was born on November 20, 1914 on a farm near Humboldt, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, Sibyl Hendrix of the family home; daughters, Sibyl Jane Gragg and husband, Rob of Spokane, WA, Linda Fern Fay and husband, Don of Oxnard, CA, and Edith Anne Hendrix of Albuquerque; son, Ralph Cray Hendrix and wife, Renee of Portales, NM; six granddaughters, Heather Gragg, Jayme Housh, Danielle, Pamella, Susan and Jeannine Hendrix; one grandson, Ralph Tristan Hendrix; sister, Helen Glathar and husband, John of Humboldt, NE; brother, Robert Hendrix and wife, Dorothy of Mt. He married Sibyl McCulloch in 1945 in Arnett. OK. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Albuquerque and the Twosom Sunday School Class. Mr. Hendrix was designated a lifetime member of the Master Gardeners of Albuquerque. He completed five years of courses in Bible Study Fellowship. Mr. Hendrix was supervisor of the Packing department at Sandia Labs until his retirement in 1980. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #269 of Humboldt, NE. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Friday, May 21, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead Ave. SW, with Dr. Ira Williams officiating. Private interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Honorary pallbearers will be the Twosom Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church. Matesich -- Services for Anna Matesich will be held Friday, May 21, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the Memorial Rose Garden in Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM. Mrs. Matesich passed away Sunday, May 16, 1999. She was born May 2, 1901 in Croatia, and came to the United States in 1910, at the age of nine years. Mrs. Matesich moved to Rio Rancho in 1977 and was an active and involved resident at the Vista Grande Retirement Center. Preceded in death by her son, Emerick Matesic; she is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Casey and husband, Thomas of Rio Rancho and Lillian Adams and husband, Louis of Forest Hills, PA; and four grandchildren, Marianne Gardner of Rio Rancho, Marc Adams of Virginia, Gary Matesic of Texas and Paul Adams of Pennsylvania; as well as four great-grandchildren; and many friends. Myers -- Franklin Gearold Myers, age 90, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nadine Myers of the family home; daughter, Betty Lou Gatto, and husband, Donald of Albuquerque; son, Bob Myers and wife, Sherry of Tehachapi, CA; grandsons, Brady Womack and wife, Claire Goldstein, and Wayne Myers and wife, Leslie Petersen; granddaughters, Brenda Beck and husband, Philip, and Laura Wagner and husband, John; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Myers, Jayson Grover, Jacquelynn Grover, Shawna Grover, Jonathan Beck, Kingston Wagner and Mariah Wagner; and by his nephews, Gene Flowers and wife, Sandy and Buddy Flowers and wife, Cynthia, all of Rio Rancho. Ramo -- Leon Ramo, M.D., died Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at his home in Denver, Colorado. He was 88 years old. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Lillian Ramo. He is survived by his son, Dr. Barry W. Ramo; his daughter, Barbara Ramo Trotsky of Denver; and five grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Ramo, and Kelli, Kevin and Kari Trotsky. He is also survived by his brother, Simon Ramo of Los Angeles. Dr. Ramo was a graduate of the University of Utah and graduated first in his class from the University of Colorado Medical School. He served for four years in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was Chief of the Pulmonary Service at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver. He retired as a Colonel. For 40 years, as a general practitioner, he served his patients with love and dignity, and stood proudly as a role model for his son. He was much beloved by his patients. Dr. Ramo especially loved caring for older patients. He was a fine violinist in his youth and an avid championship bridge player until his death. His funeral service will be at Feldman Mortuary in Denver on Sunday, May 23, 1999. Rabbi Issac Celnik will lead a memorial service in Albuquerque at Dr. Ramo's home at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 24. Rice -- Marguerite"Margaret" Rice, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Saunders and husband, Dave of Albuquerque and Joyce Rayburn and husband, Boyd of Bella Vista, AR; sons, James Rice and wife, Alice of Albuquerque and Tommy Rice and wife, Arlene of Mulberry, AR; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Pickett and husband, C.V. of Tyler, TX; brothers, Cliett Hooker and wife, Maurine of Fort Worth, TX, Leonard Hooker and wife, Billie Ruth of Lancaster, TX, Louis Hooker and wife, Alice Ruth of Tyler, TX and Billy Charles Hooker and wife, Barbara of Hillsboro, TX. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Rice; son, Art C. Rice; and brothers, John Hue Hooker and Raymond Hooker. Margaret's home was a home to all friends, neighbors and relations. Let her be remembered for her generosity and loving nature. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Ray Rice, Joe W. Rice, Larry Lee Rice, Jimmy Saunders, John Saunders and Shane Hunter. Richman -- Anna K. Richman, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, May 17, 1999. Anna was born on October 26, 1913 in Chicago, IL. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Richman. Anna is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Loren Klar; and beloved family and friends. In Loving Memory of Anna Kijak Richman God saw she was getting tired And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her And whispered,"Come with Me." A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. We love and miss you and will cherish all the memories we had together. Sisneros -- Santiago"Challo," 82, born June 3, 1916 in Dawson, New Mexico, died in Albuquerque, May 16, 1999 with family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice; one daughter, Jennie Verlarde-Sieff and her husband, Jim; her sons, Johnnie and Alfonso Jr. Romero, from a deceased daughter, Leonore, her sons, Jake and Antonio Sanchez, daughter, Alice and her husband, Larry Bach, all of Southern California, three sons, Joe, of Redondo Beach, CA, James and wife, Frieda, his son, Patrick, their children Desiree, Deiadra and David, of Alb., Phil and wife, Debbie, also of Albuquerque; one brother, Pete and wife, Susie of Silver City, NM; one sister, Dionicia Rodriguez of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mass and memorial services will be at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, vicinity of Paseo del Norte and Tramway Blvd. Dad, we love you and we will miss you. Yarbrough -- Perri Abbott Yarbrough, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer. Perri was born January 10, 1958 in Las Cruces. She grew up in La Mesa, NM and graduated from Gadsden High. Perri started college at New Mexico State University and completed her degree in Sociology at University of New Mexico. She continued her education at the College of Santa Fe earning an Education degree. Perri taught at Eagle Ridge Middle School in Rio Rancho before moving to Los Lunas and teaching at Raymond Gabaldon Intermediate. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Dwight Yarbrough; children, Vanessa and Cameron; parents, June Abbott of La Mesa, and Ray Abbott of Socorro; brothers, Ray and Charles; and sister, Sandra, all of La Mesa. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Friday, 12:00 noon, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
