Altman -- Dr. Emmett Altman, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, died Monday, April 26, 1999 in a local hospital following an illness. Dr. Altman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dr. Adele Altman of Albuquerque; one daughter, Dr. Karen Altman of Los Angeles, CA; two sons, Dr. Brian Altman and Dr. Alan Altman and wife, Kathy, all of Albuquerque; one brother, Fred Altman of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ryan, Meaghan, Kelly, Kaela, Kyle and Kevin Altman; and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Altman began his practice of Orthopedic surgery in Jamaica, NY in 1955. He continued his practice in Albuquerque from 1967 to 1999. He was a member of numerous medical and civic organizations and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. Dr. Altman was an avid hunter and scuba diver. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in Congregation B'Nai Israel, 4401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Rabbi Isaac H. Celnik and Cantor Josh Perlman officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Brian Altman, Dr. Alan Altman, Ryan Altman, Meaghan Altman, Kelly Altman, Kyle Altman, and Kevin Altman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Karen Altman and Fred Altman. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai B'Rith, P.O. Berg -- LaVerne M. Berg, 87, passed away April 24 in Bozeman, Montana. She was a resident of Albuquerque for 53 years. She was born January 11, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Milford Leach and Pauline Krueger. She attended Milwaukee State Teachers College. In 1934, she married Gilbert Allis Jr. in Crown Point, Indiana. In 1942, she and daughter, Jerelyn moved to Albuquerque. Mr. Allis was killed during the Normandy Invasion of WWII. In November of 1944, LaVerne married Jack Berg and together they had three children. She and Jack were married for 33 years when he passed away in 1977. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and dedicated her life to raising her children and to being a loving wife. In 1993, she moved to Bozeman, Montana where her son lives. She is survived by her four children, Valerie Berg, Albuquerque, Rosemary Nelson, Greenfield, WI, Larry Berg, Gallatin Gateway, MT, Jerelyn Eisenberg, Albuquerque; sister, Doris Thomas, Albuquerque; grandchildren, Debbie Freebairm, Gary Eisenberg, Stephen Eisenberg, Noah Gins, Andrea Ellison, Robert Nelson, Vanessa Berg and Brandon Berg. LaVerne also has ten great-grandchildren. Cremation took place in Bozeman and a private family ceremony was held in her honor in the home of her son in Montana.

Berry -- Tom Berry, 72, was born on December 18, 1926 in Raton, NM, a resident of La Cueva since 1970, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999. He is survived by his brother, F. Patrick Berry and wife, Connie of Los Lunas; sister, Ellen Starkovich and husband, Bill of Edgewood; 13 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-law, Ed Tackett of T or C; sister-in-law, Eleanor Berry of Pueblo, CO; and dear friends, Joe Grider, Justin Grider and Jeff Grider, all of La Cueva. Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Aileen Berry; brothers, John Berry Jr., Eugene Berry and Daniel Berry; sister, Marjorie Tackett; and dear friend, Linda Grider. Blair -- C. Ruth Blair, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 78, years, died Friday, April 23, 1999. She is survived by her son, Samuel H. Blair and wife, Barbara of Tome, NM; daughter, Beryl Whitlow and husband, Gary of Rio Rancho; granddaughters, Bonnie Selva of Tome, NM, Mary Ruth Olsen and husband, Tom of Peru, SA, Frances Savage of Albuquerque, Sacha Blair of Tome, NM, Shana Obermiller and husband, Scott of College Station, TX; and grandson, Lt. Reagan Whitlow and wife, Deeanne of Eagle River, AK; great-grandchildren, Shawn Selva, Nisse, Haley and Benjamin Olsen, Sulie, and Jason Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sam B. Blair. Mrs. Blair was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and of United Methodist Women-Elizabeth Circle, and North Albuquerque Lioness Club for 43 years and also a member of the Questers and Sanctuary SS Classes. She was the secretary for the UNM Alumni Office for many years. Services will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Carrillo -- Mr. Federico Martinez Carrillo, Ph.D., born in Valencia, NM on January 7, 1937, beloved only son of Amada Martinez Carrillo and Paulino Ballejos Carrillo, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 1999 at the age of 62. Dr. Carrillo will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Ida Sanchez Carrillo. He will be mourned greatly by his two daughters, Paula Carrillo Gonzales and Ana Carrillo Seligman and their husband, Frank P. Gonzales and James A. Seligman. Dr. Carrillo leaves behind eight grandchildren who love him deeply, Mariana Gonzales, Louisa Gonzales, Francisco Gonzales, Angelina Gonzales, Theresa Seligman, Joseph Seligman, Lucas Seligman, and Daniel Seligman. Dr. Carrillo was so very proud of his eight grandchildren. He loved them very much. Dr. Carrillo is also survived by numerous family members and friends, many of whom he considered his brothers and sisters. Dr. Carrillo was preceded in death by his father, Paulino and mother, Amada; various uncles, aunts and other relatives, and most recently his father-in-law, Antonio Sanchez; and brother-in-law, Robert Shadoan. Dr. Carrillo had recently retired from a fulfilling and enriching career as a professor at the University of New Mexico. He had been with the College of Education for many years and had touched many people throughout his lifetime. He was an inspiration to so many. Dr. Carrillo enjoyed life, his family and friends. He was involved in many extracurricular activities such as volleyball and softball. Dr. Carrillo was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish for over 30 years where he was also an active member having loved the Virgen de Guadalupe so dearly. A Rosary will be held Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish. Open viewing will be held Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and again on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., in the mortuary chapel. Colson -- Terezain Colson, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away early Wednesday morning. Mrs. Colson was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Colson; her mother, Eda Roque; and a sister, Marie Satchez. She is survived by one brother, Edgar Roque; a foster brother, Anthony Uorens, both of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hickey -- Sue Hickey, a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years, died Friday, April 23, 1999 after a short illness. She is survived by her brother, Maurice White and wife, Polly of Sun City, AZ; one niece and two nephews, Connie, Alan and Ray; and close friend, Rosie Black of Albuquerque. Sue was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Hickey and Scott Blanton; and her sister, Josephine Huey. In her early years, Sue overcame a battle with Alcoholism, only to have a continual battle with Macular Degeneration throughout her life. She lived independently with occasional assistance until three months ago, when she could no longer be alone. Huenniger -- Clarence J. Huenniger, 88, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1974, and more recently of Manzano Del Sol Good Samaritan Village, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 1999. Clarence was born December 4, 1910 near Buffalo, New York. He studied at Millard Fillmore College and the American Institute of Banking. He was employed by the Marine Trust Co. of Western New York for over 17 years before receiving training and becoming an Executive of the Boy Scouts of America and serving councils in Buffalo, Olean and Rochester, New York. Clarence retired in 1973. Clarence was an involved member of All Saints Lutheran Church, he contributed over 5000 hours as a volunteer at Lovelace hospital. Clarence is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Violet B. Huenniger; son, John and his wife, Virginia of Edgewood, KY, son, Gary and his wife, Sandra of Cheektowaga, NY; grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife, Sheri and great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew of Loganville, GA, Valerie of Albuquerque, James of Cincinnati, OH, Daryl of Cheektowaga, NY, Beth Nugent and her husband, David and great-grandchildren, Miles and Madeline of St. Paul, NC; a brother, Edward C. and his wife, Blanche of West Palm Beach, FL; along with two nieces and a nephew and many supportive friends in the community, especially Tom Ayer and John Silman. Millar -- George M. Millar, 73, a resident of Albuquerque for 23 years, died, Monday, April 26, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Lorna Millar of 47 years; daughter, Debbie Turner of Albuquerque; son, Kevin Millar, wife, Shannon of Albuquerque; one grandson, Michael Millar; and brother, William Millar and wife, Vi of White Rock, B.C. He was a minister for 11 years at Christ Unity Church. Mr. Millar was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grand Rapids, MI. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. Milton -- James Albert Milton passed away quietly on April 24, 1999. He was born November 7, 1910 in Lexington, KY, son of Hugh Melgone Milton I and Gorda Ovana Howard. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Fannie Lee Milton. They were married April 27, 1935 in Lexington, KY. Children and spouses are Larry Milton and wife, Suzanne of San Antonio, TX, Ovana and husband, Tyler Slocumb of Yokota Air Base, Japan, and Pamela and husband, Gary Felker of Westminster, CO. Grandchildren are James A. Milton of San Antonio, TX, Debra Gove of Caldwell, ID, Janis Glassini of Morenci, AZ, Amy Wilson of Spengdalem Air Base, Germany, Cynthia Hess of Wichita, KS, Alissa Swiger of Sulphur, LA, Belinda Slocumb of Marlborough, MA, and Christopher Slocumb of Albuquerque. There are also 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Col. Milton retired from the Air Force at the then Sandia AFB April 30, 1964 after 33 years of service. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps June 18, 1931 at Ft. Bliss, TX as a Corporal. He worked his way up through the enlisted and officer ranks in the Finance Department transferring to the Air Force when that became a separate service November 30, 1948 with the rank of temporary Colonel. After military retirement, he joined the staff of the Bank of New Mexico in Albuquerque, serving as Vice President and Senior Vice President in several capacities until retirement on November 30, 1975. James Milton will be fondly remembered by the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque, The Rio Grande Woodcarvers' Association, The Knife and Fork Club, and the Petroleum Club of Albuquerque. He was also a member of Temple Lodge #6 AF & AM, Santa Fe Consistory Scottish Rite & The Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple. He was a very active member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 29, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park Blvd. NE. Modrow -- Dorothy Jean Weimer Modrow, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 18 years, passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 1999 surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 48 years, Harold"Hal" and four children survive her, Harold"Harrry" Edward Modrow III and his wife, Patricia of Maryland, James Modrow of Illinois, Mary Modrow of Albuquerque, and Jean Groepler and her husband, James of Alabama. Dot has three wonderful grandchildren, Eric, Jim and Katherine, all of whom she adored. Dot will be often and frequently missed by all that knew her. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 29, 1999, 3:00 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 12120 Copper St. NE, with Rev. William G. Scranton III. Interment will be at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, IL at a later date. Pulakos -- George P. Pulakos, 76, a resident of New Mexico since 1951, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; daughters, Kathy Motschall and husband, Paul of Petoskey, MI, Gretchen Anaya and husband, David of Albuquerque, Joan Pulakos and husband, Tom Fletcher of Pullman, WA, Tracy Pulakos of Reno, NV, and Lesa Vigil and husband, Steven of Pullman, WA; son, Dino Serna Pulakos of Albuquerque; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Elaine Adam; brother, Milton Pulakos and wife, Barbara Posaka; longtime family friend, Vivian Kardaras, all of New York City, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Brown Pulakos. Mr. Pulakos, a native of Erie, PA, graduated from Choate Preparatory School in Connecticut and attended Dartmouth College until 1942, when he enlisted in the U.S. Military Service. He served with the 8th Weather Squadron, North Atlantic Division until his discharge in 1946. Mr. Pulakos returned to his studies in accounting and received his certificate as a C.P.A. in 1956. He started his own practice in 1958 and in 1972, formed the accounting firm of Pulakos & Alongi, which continues in business to this day. Mr. Pulakos was active in many professional areas, holding committee appointments at the local, state and national levels, particularly serving in the area of teaching fellow accountants in various specialty areas. Mr. Pulakos was also active in civic activities, having served for many years on the Community Advisory Board for KNME-TV5 and related organizations. He served as secretary to the Albuquerque Woodworker's Association for many years. Mr. Pulakos was well known as a speaker to various charitable and civic organizations. Upon retirement from active practice, he served as State Board of Accountancy Investigator of Complaints. Mr. Pulakos also held appointments to various offices at the local, state and national levels. He was recently named to the 1998 Lifetime Achievement Awards in recognition of his outstanding achievements and dedication to the C.P.A. profession. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Rodriguez -- Mr. Ramon H. Rodriguez died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 72. He was a member of the St. Edwin Catholic Church. Salisbury -- Woodford Whitney Salisbury, age 80, a former resident of Randolph County and more recently of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2:00 p.m., at St. Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque. Born June 13, 1918 in Monterville, WV, he was the son of the late Winfield and Bertha Stalnaker Salisbury. On August 26, 1948 he was united in marriage to the former Leola Simmons who survives at Albuquerque. Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Mrs. Larry"June" Medearis of LaCenter, WA; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark Salisbury and wife, Joan of Albuquerque; one sister, Mrs. Frank"Lilly" Hight of Monterville, WV; one brother, Mason"Boone" Salisbury of Rainier, OR; two granddaughters, Mrs. Chad"Theresa" Durbec and Mrs. James"Anitra" Quist; one grandson, Luke Salisbury; two great-grandchildren, Camille Durbec and Zachariah Quist. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Salisbury in death in addition to his parents were four sisters, Nellie Pescosolido, Helen Conrad, Iva Briggs and Wilma Currence; and one brother, Roland Salisbury. Mr. Salisbury was a coal miner and logger, retiring in 1980, and a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII. He was a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, after 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 1, Mr. Salisbury will be moved to the Valley Head United Methodist Church for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Charlene Hamrick, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Stalnaker Cemetery in Monterville, WV. Full military rites will be accorded by the Tygart Valley Post #2647 VFW and the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Woodford Whitney Salisbury.

Self -- R.E. Self, 80, a longtime rancher and resident of Elida, NM, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dollie Self; daughters, Ann of Beaverton, OR, Nancy of Albuquerque; son, Alan of Tijeras; a sister, Adelaide Gregory of Portales; eight grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Thornberry Robberson -- Thornberry Billie Thornberry Robberson, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died April 27, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Jack Robberson; her four daughters, Corine Frizzell of Jackson, MS; Carolyn Pace of Lima, Peru, Darlene Thornberry of Gig Harbour, WA, Terri Thornberry of Durango, CO; her step-son, Lyman Robberson of Las Cruces, NM; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Billie Robberson was born June 18, 1922 in Deming, NM to Edward and Corine Hall. But because of the premature death of her parents, she grew up in the home of her uncle and aunt, Frank and Emma Dale of Reed, OK. Billie Robberson's first husband and father of her children was E.C. Thornberry, originally from Ft. Payne, AL. They met in Reed, OK and were married there in July 1940. They moved first to Tucumcari, NM where their first daughter was born and then moved to Albuquerque in February 1942 where they raised their four daughters. They joined Edith Street Baptist Church where they formed lifelong friendships that have enriched their lives down through the years. E.C. Thornberry died May 16, 1963. Billie Robberson was employed for many years with Mountain Bell Telephone Company, Universal Contractors, Clinton P. Anderson Insurance Agency (bought out by Alexander & Alexander) and Brokerage Services. Billie and Jack Robberson, currently members of Hoffman Baptist Church, married July 3, 1993 after renewing a friendship dating back to 1941 when Billie and E.C. Thornberry had moved to Tucumcari and had rented an apartment from Jack Robberson and his first wife, Sue, Jack and E.C. had enjoyed playing sports together. The family of Billie Robberson would like to express appreciation to all of those who demonstrated interest and concern during her illness. This included the wonderful care provided through the Presbyterian Hospice Services. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore and Pastor Tom Pace officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
