Becerra -- Julia Lizarraga Becerra, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 24, 1999. Julia was a resident of Alameda. She was born on January 27, 1921 in Mazatlan, Mexico. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rosa and husband, Edward Sipler of Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Kira A. Sipler of Seattle, WA, Bonita C. Sipler of Albuquerque. Also, surviving are Surrogate friend of the family, Filpe F. Quintana and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gonzalez. Julia loved children. She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM at 7:00 a.m. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St. N.W. Norbert Baldonado Jr.

Blair -- C. Ruth Blair, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 78 years, died Friday, April 23, 1999. She is survived by her son, Samuel H. Blair and wife, Barbara of Tome, NM; daughter, Beryl Whitlow and husband, Gary of Rio Rancho; granddaughters, Bonnie Selva of Tome, NM, Mary Ruth Olsen and husband, Tom of Peru, SA, Frances Savage of Albuquerque, Sacha Blair of Tome, Shana Obermiller and husband, Scott of College Station, TX; and grandson, Lt. Reagan Whitlow and wife, Deeanne of Eagle River, AK; great grandchildren, Shawn Selva, Nisse, Haley and Benjamin Olsen, Sulie and Jason Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sam B. Blair. Mrs. Blair was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and of United Methodist Women-Elizabeth Circle, and North Albuquerque Lioness Club for 43 years and also a member of the Questers and Sanctuary SS Classes. She was the secretary for the UNM Alumni Office for many years. Services will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead, S.W., with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul, NE. Bowen -- Jimmy Bowen, 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Weeta A. Bowen of Albuquerque; sons, Jimmy Leroy Bowen and wife, Shirley of Roswell, NM, Douglas Bowen and wife, Mary and Dan Bowen and wife, Carri, all of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Vangundy of Mesa, AZ; and many other family and friends. He was a member of the International Union of Operation Engineers Local #953 and served his country during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming, NE, with Chaplain Sandra S. Bess, officiating. Buchanan -- Edith Buchanan, age 87, passed away April 6, 1999, at her home in Albuquerque. Born in Sylva, No. Carolina, she enjoyed and shared remarkable gifts and passions for learning and teaching. Graduating from high school at 15 and college at 18, she taught high school English for eleven years before enrolling at Duke University to pursue her graduate education. At Duke, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the degree of Ph D in 1944. Dr. Buchanan taught at WCTC (now Western Carolina Univ.), Duke, Florida State, Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College) and University of Colorado. In 1955, she came to UNM where she remained until her retirement. At UNM, she was highly esteemed as a superb scholar, contributing faculty member, and dedicated teacher. Over the years, she inspired and enlightened thousands of students and mentored scores more--many of whom have gone on to outstanding teaching careers of their own. In 1977, she was honored by UNM as the"Outstanding Teacher of the Year". In 1978 Dr. Buchanan retired with the title Professor of English Emeritus. Dr. Buchanan's life-long friend, Margaret Meaders, preceded her in death. Dr. Buchanan is survived by her brother, R. Paul Buchanan; and sister in law, Louise; her sister, Dorothy B. Higdon; three nephews, Robert Buchanan, Lyndon Higdon and Sam Higdon; and one niece, Martha Buchanan-Wood; and many, many devoted friends. She will be missed, but no doubt is enjoying her"newcomers" tour, led by Milton, Shakespeare, John Donne, Ben Johnson and many of her other friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 26, 1999, at 3:00 p.m., at the UNM Alumni Chapel, with a reception following at the Maxwell Museum. Cremation arrangements were made by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.

Chavez -- Soloman P. Chavez, 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 75 years, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Chavez; children, Solomon Chavez III and wife, Eve of Colorado Springs, CO, Charlene Gonzales and husband, Robert of Taos, Gina Chavez, Steve Chavez and wife, Gina, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Monica and husband, Kirk, Greg, Marcos, Joseph, Miguel and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Rheana and Ryne; sisters, Olivia Martin, Rachel Chavez and Priscilla Griego and husband, Bill of California; sisters-in-law, Tillie Pacheco and Gertrude Costales; brother-in-law, Prospero Jaramillo; and many loving nieces and nephews. Solomon retired in 1983 after serving as President of Stryco Sales, Inc. He had previously worked for ICX, NM Health Department and Bond and Wiest. Mr. Chavez was a life member of Masonic Temple Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Temple; a former member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church; and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, belonged to the Senior Golf Association for several years, and played golf in the Senior Olympics. Memorial services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver SE, with Rev. Jim Massey officiating. Cowdrey -- Robert Fletcher Cowdrey was born September 27, 1937 in La Junta, Colorado, to Virginia Weatherford Cowdrey and Albert Fletcher Cowdrey. Bob passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 1999. For a number of years, Bob worked in the banking business in Albuquerque. For the last few years he was in the commercial cleaning business. He was a long time member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church where his activities were many. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Mr. Cowdrey is survived by four sons, Todd Pease and his wife, Angela of Littleton, CO, Rod Cowdrey and his wife, Caryn, Rob Pease and his wife, Chrissy and Rick Cowdrey and his wife, Liz, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren and a 6th on the way; mother, Virginia Cowdrey; sister, Martha Greer of Albuquerque; brothers, Ron Cowdrey and his wife, Phyllis of Bosque Farms and John Cowdrey and his wife, Kim of Las Cruces; his former wife, Ann Pease of Edgewood. His father, Fletcher Cowdrey, preceded him in death in 1983. A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at La Mesa Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joyce Leiberman officiating. Espinoza -- Tammy Marie Espinoza, 27, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt and friend passed away Wednesday, April 21, 1999 as a result of an automobile accident. Tammy was born on May 15, 1971 in Santa Fe, NM; her brothers and sisters looked up to her for love and understanding, she had a heart of gold that was so tender and loving. She leaves behind her loving husband, Robert Espinoza of the family home; her precious children, Roxanne Jessica, Robert Carlos, Richard Thomas, and a nephew she raised as a son, Ivan Espinoza, all of the family home. She is also survived by her mother, Susan Vivian Romero and Uliber Castillo; her father, Henry Rosario Chavez; two brothers, Leonard Henry Chavez and Darlene and Louis John Chavez; three sisters, Madeline Louisa Chavez and Ramiro, Elaine June Chavez and Carlos, and Marie Elizabeth Macias and husband, Rogelio; paternal grandmother, Dora V. Chavez; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitations will be this evening from 6:00 p.m. till the time of the Rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron. Garcia -- Patrick Matthew Garcia, 32, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, April 24, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He graduated from the New Mexico Corrections Department Academy on December 16, 1994, and was a correctional officer for the past seven years at the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas, where he was a member of the Tactical Response Team and the Designated Armed Response Team. He was very proud of his career in corrections. Patrick was the coach of the Belen Little League Rookies and the Youth Basketball League. He was a member of the men's softball league, and a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He owned Starfire Disc Jockey Service and was a well known area chimney sweep. He loved playing Santa Clause for his children and all his nieces, nephews and family members, as well as the Belen Recreation Center. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Prudencio and Lucinda Hurbina, his paternal grandmother, Patsy Serna, and his uncles, Prudencio and Macario Hurbina. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Victoria Maestas Garcia, who is expecting their third child; his two sons, Patrick and Diego; his mother, Valerie and Frank Sanchez; his father, Andrew Garcia and his wife, Nila; his brother, Andrew Garcia and his wife, Louise; two sisters, Julie Garcia and Carla Mora and her husband, Tunney; his step brother, Shawn Garcia; his step sister, Isha Garcia; his grandfather, T.J. Serva; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenny and Nora Maestas; and his sisters-in-law, Eugena and Monica Maestas. He is also survived by his many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Andrew Garcia, Feliciano Garcia, Ken Carrejo, Danny Sedillo, Leonard Jaramillo, Jack Williams, Gilbert Flores, and Andrew Lauer. Greenwell -- James Russell Greenwell passed away April 21, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvan D. Greenwell and mother, Kay Russell Greenwell. Jim was born in Vincennes, IN, October 31, 1933. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950 and subsequently joined the US Navy. After a tour of duty in the Mediterranean he returned to New Mexico to apprentice as a journeyman machinist. He lived and worked in New Mexico the remainder of his life. Jim is survived by his son, David Greenwell; daughter-in-law, Betsy; daughter, Cindy Joseph; son-in-law, Patrick; youngest daughter, Renee Glass; son-in-law, David; his stepchildren, Cherryl Greene, Randy Travis, Brett Travis, Robbie Travis, Kari Lynch and their families; his grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Dustin, Lane and P.J.; also the soulmate of his life, Ava Lovell and her daughter, Tasha. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff at Lovelace for their loving care."Surely goodness and mercy have followed me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Groshong -- Amanda Groshong, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. She is survived by one son, Ernest Groshong, Jr. and wife, Betty of Sequim, WA; two daughters, Carol Baldwin and husband, Harry of St. Charles, MO and JoAnn Milks and husband, Raymond of Albuquerque; two sisters, Hattie Martin and husband, Harvey of Moscow Mills, MO and Dolores Stigemier of St. Charles, MO; one brother, Albert Schnarr of St. Ann, MO; one sister-in-law, Hazel Groshong of Troy, MO; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Groshong was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Groshong on March 29, 1980; three sisters; and one brother. She and her husband were custodians for 27 years for Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Albuquerque. She was active for many years with the Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. She also was active in the Kachina Grandmothers Club for several years. Gurule -- Viola Gurule, 68, a resident of Albuquerque for the past nineteen years, passed away on Friday, April 23, 1999. Viola was born December 18, 1930, the daughter of Jose Cayetano and Rogeria Gurule, in Alameda, New Mexico. She had been a Franciscan Nun with the Catholic Church and taught elementary school and Novica's. She had traveled to Rome, Panama, and California as part of her duties. She was a member of the Legion of Mary. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elena Sanchez, and one brother, Jose de La Luz Gurule. She is survived by five brothers and one sister, Epifano T. Gurule of Alameda, Estefanita Peralta of Albuquerque, Jose Domigo Gurule of Alameda, Moises Gurule of LaPonte, CA, Jesus Maria Gurule of Paramont, CA, and Agustin Gurule of Oakley, CA. The Rosary for Viola will be held on Monday, April 26, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alameda. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 27, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nativity Church. The Interment will follow in the San Carlos Cemetery. Hamm -- Jeraldine E."Jeri" Hamm, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Friday, April 23, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Shaun Newton and wife, Nina of Albuquerque and Steve Newton and wife, Linda of Des Moines, IA; granddaughters, Natalie Newton, Dawn Barreras and husband, J.B., all of Albuquerque, Niko Newton of Santa Fe, and Lisa Newton and Kathy Newton of Des Moines, IA; grandsons, Mike Newton and Bob Newton of Des Moines, IA; brother, Delbert Madsen of Merrit Island, FL; and sisters, Jean Zaccagnino of Flemington, NJ and Phyllis Berling of Middleton, NJ. Mrs. Hamm retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. She loved to travel and was loved by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and friends. Harvey -- Ronnie Mack Harvey, 62, of Lubbock passed away at his son's home in Lubbock, Friday, April 23, 1999 under Hospice care. He was born June 16, 1936 in Guymon, OK. A celebration of life will be his Memorial in June in Amarillo. He was raised in the Amarillo area where he graduated from Amarillo High School. He graduated from North Texas State where he played basketball for the university. His career took him to Dallas and Albuquerque in various financial institutions. He is survived by three sons, Kyle Harvey of Lubbock, Jeff Harvey of Ada, OK, Tim Harvey of Antlers, OK; two brothers, Donald Harvey of Albuquerque, NM and John Harvey of Dallas; one sister, Susan Allen of Ada, OK; eight grandchildren.

Hathorne -- Robert Leroy Hathorne, 63, a native New Mexican-American and a war time veteran, died April 19, 1999 in Taos, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Samuel Hathorne. Born in Gallup, NM, May 1, 1936, he was educated in Albuquerque and El Paso and served in the US Army, the US Marine Corps and the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer fireman in several NM communities, the last in Moriarty. His granddaughter, Sophia Naomi; son, Benjamin Leroy; daughter, Lorinda Rachelle; his sister, Carol Kay Page; brothers, James Irwin and Merle Dean; and extended family survive him. He married Susan Collins in 1978 and Sylvia Jewett in 1988. He was known for his love of family and friends, a rural life style, cooking, fire fighting, animals, especially his dog, Spot, and helping others. A gathering in his memory will be held at the Moriarty Fire Station, Sunday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m. Cremation by Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Moriarty, NM.

Henningsen -- Montelle Bearden Henningsen, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Thomas J. Henningsen and wife, Kate of Albuquerque and Myron H. Henningsen II and wife, Sandy of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, T. Michael Henningsen and wife, Deana of Hot Springs, AR, Todd Henningsen and Chris Henningsen, both of Scottsdale, AZ; and great-grandson, Connor Henningsen of Hot Springs, AR. Mrs. Henningsen was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Henningsen. The youngest of four sisters, Montelle danced professionally with her sisters in Washington, DC from 1930-1940. The Yates Sisters, as they were known professionally, performed in the White House for President Roosevelt in 1934. After moving to New Mexico, Montelle and her husband, Myron owned and operated Resort Publishing Co. in Albuquerque and the Sleepy Hollow Ski Lodge in Red River. During that time, Montelle was active in choreographing town plays and other special events in Red River. She later wrote a regular entertainment column in the popular Albuquerque magazine, Albuquerque This Month. Mrs. Henningsen was a member of Daughters of the Nile. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho. Holleman -- Shirley C. Holleman, 71, passed away in her home on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, after a extensive battle with COPD. She was born in Cannon Falls, Minnesota on December 14, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Holleman in 1989. She was a beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She retired from House of Carpets in 1993. She became a hot air balloon pilot in 1985. She is survived by one brother, Thomas Burke of Storrs, CT; five daughters, Catherine Myers of Albuquerque, Carol Stoy-McLeod and husband, Hugh McLeod of Bosque Farms, Christine Stoy of Albuquerque, Callie Adams and husband, Roger of Albuquerque, and Casey Courtney of Los Lunas; six grandchildren, Tracy Daniels, Amy Neal and husband, Matthew, Daniel Myers, Michael Shay and wife, Jennifer, Steven and Lindsey Adams; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Hannah Neal. Cremation has taken place and upon her wishes, private services will be held in Bosque Farms. Kinzer -- David L. Kinzer, 37, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 26, 1999 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Albuquerque for Alma DeNio McPhee, age 93, of Roswell, who passed away April 21, 1999 at a local nursing home. Rev. Melinda J. Wagner of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Alma was born August 16, 1905 in Elmo, Kansas to Henry and Christina Meuli Hoffman. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as her husbands, Frank McPhee and Homer DeNio; daughter-in-law, Marian DeNio; son-in-law, W. Bob Weekly; great-grandson, Jason DeNio; and two sisters, Alberta Hanson and Lucile Sloan. She married Frank McPhee in April, 1954 in Albuquerque. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Keith E. DeNio and his wife, Jane of Roswell; a daughter, Wanda DeNio Weekly of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Allen and her husband, G. Bud of Mesa, AZ. Other survivors are five grandchildren, Steve DeNiro and his wife, Connie of Roswell, Shawn DeNio and wife, Anita of Carlsbad, Cindy Flinn and husband, Fred of Port Orchard, WA, Shelley Sweglar and husband, Michael of Riverton, WY, Dana Keith Weekly of Miami Beach, FL. Mrs. McPhee had been a Roswell resident since 1994 and had been in bookkeeping for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albuquerque and very active in church work. She had been an Eastern Star member and a member of The Daughter of the Nile, and the Engineers Wives Club. She will lie in state at LaGrone Funeral Chapel until Monday morning. Metcalf -- Clayton B. Metcalf, passed away peacefully at home on Friday. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Jones Metcalf and his mother, Evea Barker Metcalf. He was born in Clayton, NM. He was a heavy equipment contractor for 43 years and worked on many projects in New Mexico and the adjoining states. Some of his most memorable jobs were in the Duke's baseball field, the Lobo football field, and running a coal mine in Gallup. Clayton is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Metcalf, of 43 years; his four children, Roxanne Baltz and husband, David, Becky Garcia and husband, Johnny, Jill Thomas and husband, Jon, Kyle Metcalf and wife, Barbara. Clayton enjoyed his 14 grandchildren, Yvonne, 23, Lisa, 15, Nicole, 11, JD, 10, Madeline, 9, Austin, 9, Ariel and Wes, 8, Amanda, 8, Vincent, 7, Joseph, 6, Jett, 5, Monica, 3, Casey, 2. Smith of Prunedale, CA, and Paul H. Smith of Chatsworth, CA. Also surviving is her sister, LaMay Adamson of Michigan; five grandchildren, Deborah D. Pierson of Albuquerque, Cheryl L. Ferren and husband, Tracy Ferren of Birmingham, Alabama, Jon A. Pierson of Houston, TX, James E. Alma attended the University of Texas and worked for the Freeport Sulphur Company in Freeport, Texas, where she met her husband, Dan. They were married in New Orleans on April 10, 1938 and moved to Albuquerque in May, 1950. Alma worked many years as the office manager/secretary of her husband's CPA firm. With her husband, Alma started and ran her own travel agency, Atlas Travel Service, which she sold upon retirement in 1980. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The burden of advancing Alzheimers Disease in her last years never diminished her smile, laughter, and happiness. The family is especially grateful to the staff of St. Francis Place, a very special residence, for their loving care in this last period of her life. Solomon -- Alvin H. Solomon, born August 31, 1929 in Chicago, IL, beloved father and friend, died April 20, after a frustrating battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pauline Solomon; his sister, June; wife, Lewise; and dear friend, Marva Vollmar. He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina and son-in-law, Mark; his goddaughters, Pari Taichert and Dara Shaw; dear friend, Alan Rosner; adopted sister, Eve Davies; and numerous relatives. Al graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. His ultimate expertise was in nuclear weapons systems, and he was greatly respected in his field. He retired as Chief of the Engineering Analysis Branch of the San Antonio Air Logistics Command (KAFB) in October 1995. Al blended his technical know-how with his creative side when he served as the Lighting Director of the Albuquerque Little Theater for ten years. Al was a keen analyst of human nature, and his skill in understanding people made him a superb manager and magnificent friend. He had a deep respect for irreverence, an admiration for"rogueishness", and an appreciation for good stories and bad jokes. Al had a strong spirit of adventure and equally enjoyed exploring ideas and places. Although he was an engineer, one of the jobs he was proudest of was his own New Mexico sightseeing business in the early 1960's. He said that when he arrived in New Mexico for the first time after working in Seattle in 1960, he felt like he was returning home. His love affair with this state continued all his life. Al knew about everything. If you asked him a question, he had an answer and it was always right. Al was the definition of a father: he always made sure everything was taken care of-for everyone he loved and even people who worked for him casually. His hobbies were many, but one of his greatest pleasures was fiddling around with construction projects and home repairs. He was constantly seeking solutions to vexing problems in his and other people's homes. He was actively involved in the Friends of the North Golf Course community action group and the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society. Al's fine mind, tremendous capacity for love, and sense of humor will be missed by us all. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana NE. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in his memory to the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society, PO Box 23056, Santa Fe, NM 87502. Stapleton -- Roberta E. Stapleton, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Friday, April 23, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Donald, Jon, Daniel, Joseph and Leon Visnaw; daughters, Bridget, Penny and Pansy; grandchildren, Jessica, Shaunteill, Raeshaun, Michael and Joseph; great granddaughters, Justina, Breanah and Dominique; brothers, Fred Fowler and wife, Juna of Riverside, CA and John Fowler and wife, Florence of Royal Oak, MI; and sister, Elanor Frye and husband, James of Ormand Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John M. (Jack) Stapleton, her son, Michael and her parents. Mrs. Stapleton was born in Detroit, MI on July 30, 1925 to Roberta and Fred Fowler. Roberta was the most giving mother to her nine children and provided a loving home to over 60 foster children. She and her husband, John, also owned a small family business, Stapleton's Nursery and Floral, for 20 years. Tafoya -- Tomas S. Tafoya, age 80, born in Abo Viejo on September 22, 1918, left his family to meet the Lord on April 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene Tafoya; four daughters, Dolores Tafoya, Gloria Zamora and husband, Michael, Diana Gonzales and husband, Joseph, and Edwina Tafoya and husband, Mario Giraudo; three sons, Tony Tafoya and wife, Debby, Mark Tafoya and wife, Jean, Joseph Tafoya and wife, Yvonne Aranda; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Ramona, Lillian, Michelle, Andrew, Christina, Renee, Melinda, Desiree, Jared, Antonio, and Zoey; four great-grandchildren, Vincent Blue, Amadeus and Lucas. Also surviving are three sisters, Beatrice Tafoya, Corina Baca and Sophie Trujillo; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Tafoya was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Patrocina Tafoya; brothers, Antonio, Manuel and wife, Maria, Federico; and sister, Lillie. Tomas lived in Corrales for 44 years, where he and Irene raised their seven children. During this time he farmed his land and was Corrales Mayordomo de la Acequias for 18 years. He served his country during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 and the Corrales Chapter of the V.F.W. Tomas was an active participant at the Corrales Senior Center and a devout member of the San Ysidro Catholic Church. Friends may visit today at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, 10:00 a.m., at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Trujillo -- Donna Trujillo died Thursday in Albuquerque at age 17. She was a senior at Highland High School and a member of Y.D.I. Uurtamo -- Beatrice I. Uurtamo, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Thursday, April 8, 1999. She is survived by her son, Stephen J. Uurtamo of Amherst, NH; daughter, Cassandra I. Uurtamo of Albuquerque; grandsons, Stephen J. Uurtamo of Tucson, AZ, Devin T. Uurtamo of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Kristin L. Uurtamo of Phoenix, AZ, Sara E. Uurtamo of Amherst, NH; and sister, Frances Mohr of Topton, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Stephen T. Uurtamo, who served with the 45th Division during WWII and the 2nd Division in the Korean War. Beatrice was a graduate of Allentown, PA public schools, attended Moravian College for Women, and graduated from Jefferson Medical College and School of Anesthesia.
