Baca -- Ernest Joseph Baca, 30, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 31, 1998. Joseph was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary was recited by Gabriella Nieto Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, visitation was held at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Buriel will be celebrated Monday morning in the church at 9:00 a.m., Father Joel Garner Celebrant. A second night Rosary will be recited by Mr. Eloy Gonzales Monday evening at 7:00 pm. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM with a visitation at the church after 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Vincent Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM. Pallbearers will be Alex Encinias, Daryll Encinias, Richard Esquibel, Steven Sanchez, Carlos Garcia and Danny Baca. Fain -- Edith Alma Rockwell-Sloan-Fain, 94, passed away December 21, 1998 in San Antonio, TX. She was born November 20, 1904 to Clayton Sanford and Dora Ellen Rockwell in Cisco, TX. She married Alfred Sloan on December 28, 1932, in Mountainair, NM. They had one adopted child, Alfred Sloan II, who has preceded them in death. Edith was a very active and feisty individual with a love for life. She loved family, church, music, and teaching. She received her teaching degree in Las Vegas. She taught school from 1922 through 1970 in New Mexico town of: Carson, Carrizozo, Lincoln, Las Vegas, Hondo, Anthony and Mountainair. A couple of generations of students learned Spanish in the Mountainair High School under Edith's guidance. Her husband, Alfred Sloan also taught shop in the Mountainair High School. They resided here in Mountainair, NM for 44 years. Edith will always be remember for her quick wit, jolly disposition and fast steps. She ran rather than walked. Edith is lovingly remember as a faithful member and pianist of the First United Methodist Church of Mountainair. She was a devoted member of the Mountainair Chapter #59 Order of Eastern Star where she served in several offices. In 1953 she served as Worthy Matron and Alfred Sloan served as Worthy Patron. Years after Alfred's passing she married Max Fain and they moved to San Antonio,TX. We pay tribute to Edith who devoted her life to teaching young people with vigor and enthusiasm. Survivors includes two nephews: William Warren and Judy Rockwell of Townsend, MT, and Robert L. and Judy Rockwell, of Riverside,CA; one stepson, Max P. and Bea Fain of San Antonio, TX; great niece, Esther R. England of North Fork, ID; great nephews, Clayton L. Rockwell of Toston, MT, Robert L. Rockwell, JR., of Riverside, CA, Daniel W. Rockwell of Riverside, CA; and seven great-great nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 1999 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Mountainair, NM at 2:00 p.m. with Don Hayhurst, officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Shaw, Pete Grisak, Sam Blackshear, Glen Goar, Daniel Rockwell and Robert Rockwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Shaw, Roy E. Ladd and William Rockwell. Burial will follow in the Mountainair Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM.

Jones -- Mary E. Jones, 54, a resident of Albuquerque died Friday, January 1, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Charles Jones; and their loving daughter, Tonie Baker of Albuquerque; mother, Jovita Cook of Topeka, KS; sisters, Cindy Evarts of Topeka,KS, Rita Dickens of Kathleen, GA, Martha Mason of Tennessee, and Bernadette Cory of Norwalk, OH; brothers, Charles Mason, and Albert Mason of Topeka, KS. Mary was a member of the SMC-TE Wives Club at KAFB. Lambert -- Daniel K., 31, born May 31, 1967 in Albuquerque, died suddenly Tuesday December 29, 1998 in a truck rollover, but in reality it was alcoholism that took him at such an early age. He is survived by his loving family; mother, Barbara Cloud, husband Ernie; father, Robert Lambert; sister, Kathryn Rolston, husband Bob; and Dan's niece, Desiree Rolston; and nephew, Brian Rolston, grandfather Boyce Clark; uncle, Jerry Clark, wife Mickey; and family; cousin, Paul Clark; as well as Dan's devoted dog, Sheila. Dan is a 1985 graduate of El Dorado High School. He was a licensed plumber for ten years. He also was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. He liked hunting, camping, fishing and hiking. Dan was a loved son and brother and loved his family in return. He had a beautiful Christmas with his entire family this year. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 1999, at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd., SE at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the National Council on Alcoholism, 148 Washington, SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, phone (505) 256-8300, in Dan's Memory. Lynch -- Joy W. Lynch, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, died Saturday, January 2, 1999. She is survived by her son, Tad Lynch, and wife, Marilyn of Estancia, NM; daughter, Brenda Atwood and husband, Tony of Deming, NM; and grandchildren, Kari Ellis and Warren Ellis of Deming, NM; and Sean Lynch of Willard, NM. Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford W. Lynch in 1970. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, was active in various art shows and her work was displayed in several galleries in Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place. Maldonado -- Mrs.Theresa M. Maldonado, 45, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 2, 1999. Mrs. Maldonado, the beloved wife of 26 years to Atanacio Maldonado Jr.; two daughters, Angelica and Cindy; two sons, Miguel and Emilio; four sisters, Emily, Marcy, Gloria and Bernice; four brothers, Fermin Jr., Florenio, Premetivo and Edwin; two grandchildren, Patrick and Isiah; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ryan -- Esther Agnes Hurley-Ryan, died December 31, 1998. Esther was born in Lenox, Iowa on April 19, 1902 to Otto and Mary Hurley. She was the oldest of nine children. Esther married Francis Eugene Ryan in 1924. The family moved to Raton, NM in 1927, where Esther worked for the Boyle family, the Ideal Laundry, Zellar's Cleaners, and retired from DeLisio's Department Store. She was a member of St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raton. In 1992 she moved to Albuquerque to be close to her family. Esther is survived by her son, Reldon; daughter-in-law, Alice Houston-Ryan; and granddaughter, Catherine Ryan-Massey; great-grandchildren, Jack, Molly and Karli, all of Albuquerque; also a sister, Roberta Fox of Chicago, Illinois. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 1999 at St. Joseph's Church in Raton.

Schiff -- Dale E. Schiff, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Duke; brother, Duane A. Schiff and wife, Dee; sister, Mary Jo Dowdy and husband, Marvin, all of Albuquerque; stepson, Rick; daughter, Nova; son, Eric; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dayton Schiff; and stepfather, Wylie Duke. Mr. Schiff bravely suffered from multiple sclerosis for 17 years. Sedillo -- Clara C. Sedillo, 63, beloved mother, godmother, sister and aunt, was called home to be with the Lord, December 29, 1998 in Spring Valley, CA. She was a parishioner of Church of the Ascension. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister. Clara is survived by her son, Christopher Sedillo (Pinto Beans) from San Diego, CA where he is serving in the U.S. Navy; a godchild, Anthony Chavez; her sister, Viola C. Cuaron and husband, Patricio; her brother, Leo Ray Chavez and wife, Mary Lou of Albuquerque; also surviving are many nephews and nieces. Ms. Sedillo will lie in state this morning at the Church of the Ascension from 9:00 a.m. till time of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pajarito Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Gilbert Cuaron, Danny Cuaron, Damian Cuaron, Mark Cuaron, Romolo Chavez, Jr., Ronald Gabaldon. Syler -- Grant P. Syler, 41, a resident of Albuquerque died Wednesday, December 30, 1998. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Nelmah Syler of Albuquerque; grandparents, Pat and Bessie Syler of Flagstaff, AZ; sister, Ginger Syler and husband, Kasey Hellmodt of Belen, NM; nephew, David Syler and fiance, Denise Correa and her children, Leah, Tony, Ciara and Chelsea; and her grandchildren, Mina and Dreama; and many other family and friends. Grant graduated from Eldorado High School in 1975 where he played in the Eldorado Jazz Band. He was a part of the Sandia Peak Ski Racing Team. He was also a member of Central United Methodist Church. Vesely -- Charles Joseph Vesely, 59, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Wednesday, December 30, 1998, after a three-year battle with cancer. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he grew up in California and Alabama and graduated from high school at Wertsmith High School on the Philippine Islands. Chuck, as he was known by his friends and associates, received B.A., B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and he got his commission in the United States Air Force there, also. Later, he received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio. His twenty-four year career in the Air Force included assignments at McClellan Air Force Base in California, Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, and the Space and Missiles Systems Organization in California. His last tour of duty was with the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. Col. Velsely retired from the Air Force in 1986 and moved to Albuquerque to open an office for Grumman Corporation. In 1990, he served as president of the Professional Aerospace Contractors Association while he was also president of the Air Force Association Chapter 258. Chuck loved the New Mexico landscape and enjoyed trout fishing, golf and skiing. He was loved very deeply by his wife, Martha Kaye, and all of his family. His older son, Charles E. Vesely, II, his wife, Debra, and their two children, Christopher and Monique, live in Tucson, Arizona. Son, Stephen P. Vesely and daughter, Lara J. Vesely live in Albuquerque. His father, Charles E. Vesely, resides in Universal City, Texas. His brother, Joseph Vesely and his wife, Catherine, live in Waco, Texas, and his younger brother, Donald Vesely, lives in Denver, Colorado. A memorial service at Santa Fe National Cemetery will be held Tuesday, January 5, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Military honors. Sunrise Society (891-8200) is serving the family of Col. Vesely.

Vinson -- Neal L. Vinson, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hollander Vinson of Albuquerque; sons, Carl W. Theisen and wife, Bernadette of Los Gatos, CA and Neal W. Vinson and wife, Nancy of Danville, CA; grandchildren, Glenn Vinson and wife, Eloisa of Mason, OH, Curt Theisen of San Francisco, CA; Kenneth Vinson of Aptos, CA, Kelly Theisen of Los Gatos, CA, Maureen Paolucci of Questa, CO, David Vinson of Dublin, CA and Christine Vinson of Sacramento, CA; and three great-grandchildren. Neal was born in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in Bisbee, AZ. He earned his Engineering degree from Carnegie-Mellon University. Prior to WWII, he worked with his father at L.W. Vinson & Son in Bisbee. During that time, he was elected to the Arizona State Legislature. He retired as a Major from the US Army after serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had a 26 year career at Sandia National Labs. Neal held several patents and published a number of professional papers. He also served as a state representative in New Mexico in 1977. He continued his lifelong pursuit of education attending the University of California, University of New Mexico and Oxford University. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine E. Vinson; and son, Jon L. Vinson. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Weddell -- Consuelo Kohler Weddell, 78, beloved wife and mother, passed away on December 31, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George; their four children and five grandchildren. Her son, Peter Weddell, his wife, Michelle; and grandson, Scott of San Jacinto, CA; grandson, Chandler Weddell and his wife, Heather of Kent, WA. Her other son, Douglas Weddell; and grandson, Jeff of Livermore, CA. Jeff and his sister, Jana Farrullo are currently attending school in San Diego, CA. A daughter, Christine Mullins and husband, Darrell of Portales, NM. A daughter, Suzanne Smith, husband Steve; granddaughters Nicole and Jacqueline of Rio Rancho, NM. She is survived by sister, Ruthye Miller of Viequez, Puerto Rico; and sister-in-law, Mary Meehan of Banning, CA. Consuelo was a registered nurse in the Armed Forces and later, following her husband's retirement, worked for the University of NM Hospital for 12 years. She accompanied her husband at military installations throughout the U.S. including Hawaii, as well as tours of duty in Bangkok, Thailand. After retirement she pursued her hobbies of gardening, golf and travel. Consuelo was an accomplished artist. She was a member of the Art Amigos and The New Mexico Watercolor Society. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2903 19th SE, Rio Rancho, NM. The church is located on the corner of 19th Street and Golf Course Road in Rio Rancho. The Revered Walter P. Smith III will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Francis Church Memorial Fund. The family would like to thank Sandia Hospice for the outstanding help they provided.
