Baca -- Mrs. Dolores C. Baca, 42, a resident of Springer and formally of Albuquerque, NM passed away on November 30, 1998. Mrs. Baca is the beloved wife of 25 years to Joe"Flavio" Baca. She is also survived by three sisters, Linda Villasenor and husband, Jesse, Felicia Valverde and James Martinez and Yvette Valverde; two brothers, Robert Valverde and wife, Susan and Rene Valverde and Laura Jurado; grandmother, Julia Medina; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, mother and father-in-law, Delfido and Geneive Baca; sister-in-law, Bernice Baca and brother-in-law, Rudy Baca. Mrs. Baca was a member of the Catholic church, and volunteered much of her time baking and cooking for the Knights of Columbus. She spent much of her time with her nieces and nephews and helped many other people in their time of need. Visitation will be held Thursday evening after 7:00 with a rosary to be recited at 8:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with visitation after 8:30. Father Jack, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charges of the arrangements.

Esquivel -- Mary F. Esquivel, 89, a lifelong resident of New Mexico passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 28, 1998 at Lovelace Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, Manuelita, her husband, Merrill, her daughters, Shirley and Lucill, her grandson, Jamie, as well as her brothers, Milner, Antonio, Ernest and Benny. Mrs. Esquivel is survived by her daughter, Christine and husband, Randy; her grandsons, Scott David and wife, Heather, Erick and wife, Angela, Damien and Dathan. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Sherylynn and Amanda as well as several nieces and nephews. She was loved very deeply and will be missed greatly by her family. Cremation took place on Tuesday. A memorial rosary will be recited on Thursday evening December 3, 1998 at 7:00pm at St Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, December 4, 1998 at St Therese Little Flower Church. A private burial service will be held by Mrs. Esquivel's immediate family. At this time the family would like to express thier thanks to the staff of Ladera Nursing for caring for our loved one. A special thanks also to the Lovelace nurses who were so very kind to our mother and grandmother while she was in your care. You know who you are. A special thanks to Gabaldon Mortuary for their patience and kindness especially Greg and Dorothy. Rest in Peace Mama, I Love You and will miss you so very much.

Garcia -- Mr. Joe Ralph Garcia died Sunday in Albuquerque at the age of 62. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his son, Joe Ralph Garcia, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Betty Garcia; son, Paul Sanchez; daughters, Georgia Contreras and Katherine Garcia-Renick; six brothers; one sister; and grandchildren, Desiree Contreras, Denise Contreras and Freddie Contreras. Funeral services for Mr. Garcia will be held on Friday at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Freddie Contreras, Fred Contreras, Ty Renick, Roberto Medina, Felix Tafoya and Desiree Contreras. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Sanchez and Denise Contreras. Garcia -- Mrs. Margaret N. Garcia, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 30, 1998. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Naranjo; her children, Ernie Metzgar and wife, Diane, Jennifer Metzgar and Kevin Metzgar; two sisters, Estella Espinosa and husband, Manuel, Sr. and Agnes Metzgar and husband, Archie; one brother, Delfin B. Naranjo, Jr.; four grandchildren, Bobby, John Paul, Gavin and Asheley; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Garcia. Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church. Gross -- Celia Weisbroth Gross died in a local hospital after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Sandia Springs Assisted Living since April 1998. Celia was born to Beryl and Becky Weisbroth 7-18-09. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Abraham and Samuel; and her twin sisters, Fanny Rubel and Gertrude Weisbroth of Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Mae Goldberg of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Deborah Goldstein and husband, David of Edgewood, NM; grandson, Benjamin and wife, Sastta of Chesapeke, VA; and four great-grandchildren. Himes -- Petra E. Himes, 81, an Albuquerque resident since 1958, died December 1, 1998 at Anna Kaseman Hospital. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucinda Markey; by her husband of 62 years, Robert L. Himes; and by a daughter, Dorothy Gibbs. She is survived by her twin brother, Miguel Elorreaga and his wife, Mary of El Paso, Texas; sister, Alice Traweek of Manden, CT; daughters, Bobbie Himes-Hadfield and husband, Fred of Norwood, NC, Carolyn Gillespie and husband, Dean of Reserve, NM, Michelle Caldwell and husband, Michael of Albuquerque; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Himes was a member and past president of Uptown Garden Club. In addition to her membership, she was a past editor of the State Garden Club magazine, served as president of Albuquerque Council of Garden Clubs, and was master of ceremonies for the dedication of the Albuquerque Garden Center. She received the Designer of the Year award in 1988 for her specialty in table settings. Other civic contributions made by Mrs. Himes prior to moving to Albuquerque include secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, president of Lioness Club, and years of service with the P.T.A. at her children's schools. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 1998 at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. There will be no visitation, and interment will be private.

Iasillo -- Anthony (Tony) Iasillo, 35, a resident of Albuquerque since birth, died at his home on Sunday, November 22, 1998. He is survived by his loving staff at Coulson, Cathy J. Howell, Jesus Rodriguez, Josh Owen, Travis Lane, Gloria Alvarez, Lynda Thomas and Pam Glenn, all from Res-Care of New Mexico. Also surviving is his guardian, Bruce Pahde of Arc of New Mexico; as well as his two roommates, Richard Ortiz and Jorge Estrada. Memorial services will be held at his home, 7300 Coulson Dr. NE. Johnson -- Wesley A. Johnson was born June 12, 1925 at Waverly, Illinois, and was 73 years old. He moved to Albuquerque in 1950. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Billie; four children, Carol Phillips and husband, Robert, Donald Johnson and wife, Debbie, both of Los Chavez, Claudia Lokinski and William Johnson, both of Albuquerque; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Johnson and wife, Lela of Belen; and a sister, Katherine of San Diego. He is a retired Sandia Labs receiving supervisor, and served with the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific during World War 2 and in the Korean War. He is a founding member of the New Mexico Gun Collectors Association, and served in the 1950's with the Bernalillo County Citizen's Unit. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sunrise Society (891-8200). No services are planned. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven mausoleum.

Kemper -- Bettie Kemper died November 17 in Lake Oswego, Oregon, at the age of 83. She was born in Rusk County, Texas. Mrs. Kemper's husband of 37 years, Charles H., died in 1977. After living in Albuquerque for 35 years she moved to the Portland area two years ago. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Miller of Quray, CO; her son, Ken of Lake Oswego, OR; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter. A Memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Alameda, where she was a member for many years. Inurnment was at Albuquerque's Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Lucero -- Theresa Maxine Trujillo Lucero, 49, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died Wednesday, December 2, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Fred A. Lucero; son, Michael A. Lucero; and parents, Alex J. and Margaret B. Trujillo. Maxine was a graduate of Sandia High School in 1967. She graduated from Columbia University in 1972 with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene. She married Fred A. Lucero on July 15, 1972. Maxine was a certified Dental Hygienist and spent twenty-one years of her career working for Kirtland Air Force Base Dental Clinic. She was a dedicated wife and mother who was willing to do anything for her family. Her loving heart will forever be missed. Mobberley -- David John Mobberley, 75, died at his residence in Albuquerque, Tuesday, December 1, 1998. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. David was a lieutenant in the Canadian Army with the 7th Reconnaissance. He landed at Juno Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. David served in France, Belgium, and Germany. He left Canada for Honolulu, HI. David worked for Theo H. Davies which was one of Hawaii's BIG FIVE firms. He later became Manager Hawaiian Islands for Qantas Airways until he retired in 1981. Upon retirement, he moved to Albuquerque and he became an active golf member of the Four Hills Country Club. David is survived by his wife, Margaret of Albuquerque; son, Steven J. Mobberley of San Francisco; daughter, Maile Williams; son-in-law, Randall B. Williams; grandchildren, Ford and Summer of Orinda, CA; and brother, Bruce Mobberley of Chasta, MN. Pfersdorff -- Ottomar"Otto" Henry Pfersdorff, 95, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died on Tuesday, December 1, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cordelia Pfersdorff of the family home; daughters, Susan Lunsford and husband, Richard of Buffalo, NY, and Jane Puryear and husband, Robert of Santa Fe, NM; grandson, Jeremy Stevens and wife, Sophie of Durham, NC; granddaughter, Rebecca Jane Stevens of Baltimore, MD; sister, Marie Hausler of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Donald Hope and wife, Joy of Culpepper, VA; and nephew, James Pfersdorff and wife, Sylvia of Tucson, AZ. Mr. Pfersdorff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He began his career as a professional engineer in Missouri, and Illinois. Later, Mr. Pfersdorff moved to Caracas, Venezuela where he and his family resided for 21 years. During this time, he was awarded a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. After Dr. Pfersdorff's retirement in 1971, the family moved to Albuquerque. He was a member of St. John Methodist Church, the Palo Duro Senior Center, and the Palo Duro Philatelic Club. He was a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the A.S.M.E. International, and the College of Engineers-Venezuela. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 4, 1998, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Rev. Charles E. Rudroff -- Virginia F. Rudroff went to eternal rest on Tuesday, December 1, 1998. She was born the daughter of Frank and Emilia Zimmerman Priest on February 22, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York. Virginia spent a long career as a telephone operator for the New York Bell, AT & T, and in the Hotel industry in New York City. On retirement in 1970, she and her husband moved to New Mexico where she worked tirelessly in making Ojo de Dios creations for charitable fund raising activities. In 1974, she was honored as a recipient of the St. Joseph Hospital Good Samaritan Award for outstanding devotion to fellow citizens in need and for exemplary conduct which served as an inspiration to friends, constituents and family. In 1985, Virginia moved to Rio Rancho where she made many new friends at Holiday Park where she resided for many years. In July 1998, she moved to Arizona with her daughter to be closer to family. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; son, Richard; and daughter, Virginia Capobianco. Surviving family includes her daughter, Joyce Karkkainen of Arizona; brother, Edward Priest of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, John Karkkainen, Jr. of Texas, Robert Kryeski of California, Anne Swanson and husband, Al of Arizona, and Kerri Mascarenas and husband, Ray of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Danielle Karkkainen and Geoffrey Swanson; son-in-law, Louis Capolianco of New Mexico; Godchildren, Denise Lagrega of Florida and Carol Healy of Arizona; and a dear niece, Martha Scott of New York. A visitation will be held today, Thursday, December 3, 1998, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and this evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Scott -- Walter R. Scott, devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully with his wife and family at his side, Tuesday, December 1, 1998. Mr. Scott was born in San Bernardino, CA 64 years ago. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby; son, Don; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Fred Bouchard; granddaughters, Tara and Gina Bouchard, Leah Scott of Albuquerque; sister, Shirley Cline; brothers, Stanley and Sue, Don and wife, Peggy, Tom and wife, Joanne, Charles and wife, Frieda, Benny, Harry and wife, Jackie, Jimmy and wife, Brenda all of California; brother-in-law, Efren Valdez; sisters-in-law, Juanita Cox, Genevieve and husband, Bill Montoya of Albuquerque; godsons, Gerald Montoya of California, Walter M. Shepherd -- Annie Mae Trexler Shepherd, 69, a homemaker, died Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Churchland Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Steve Martin. Private inurnment will be held in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shepherd was born July 20, 1929, in Rowan County to Cletus Adam Trexler, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Earnhardt Trexler. She was an office worker, teacher, and homemaker. She was a 1947 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and 1949 graduate of Salisbury Business College. At Churchland Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, Acteens leader, Young Women's Auxiliary leader, and Tape Ministry Coordinator. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Hugh Harold Shepherd on August 17, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Luke H. Shepherd and wife, Jan, of Greensboro, and Tobin H. Shepherd and wife, Beverley, of Lexington; two daughters, Leila A. Shepherd and husband, Paul Stennett, of Burlington, and Ellen R. Shepherd of Albuquerque, NM; step-mother, Alma Shives Trexler of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Leslie Shepherd, Lorie Shepherd, Elana Stennett, Kirk Stennett, Noah Shepherd, and Harry Shepherd; sisters, Margaret Livengood and Faye Downum of Salisbury; and brothers, James T. Surber -- Wilda Surber, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 1998. She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Surber Armijo of Albuquerque, Joan Carlson and husband, Don of Albuquerque, and Lois Neill and husband, Everett of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Montgomery Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 1998 at the Montgomery Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce T. Thweatt officiating. Jim Williams, Ernest Blair, Ron Jordan, Fred Bitting, Jim Poland and Frank Ulibarri will serve as pallbearers. Irving DeFoor, Carl Johnson, Leon Gardner and Otis Kelley will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Sandia Memory Gardens. Tafoya -- Teofilo Tafoya, 83, died Sunday, November 29, 1998 in Denver, CO. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Tafoya of Lakewood, CO; son, Chet (Tafoya) Blue-Sky and wife, Gayle of Littleton, CO; granddaughter, Megan Blue-Sky; sisters, Angela Baca and husband, Tony, and Tonita Tafoya and husband, Paul, all of Santa Clara Pueblo; and many other loving family members. Mr. Tafoya received his B.A. degree in 1941 and M.A. in 1956 in Art Education from the University of New Mexico. He was a teacher and/or Art Director at the Albuquerque, Phoenix, Pine Ridge, SD, and Jemez Pueblo Indian Schools. Mr. Tafoya was a member of First Baptist Church and also a past member and board director of the All Faiths' Receiving Home. He was co-founder and chairman of the Council of American Indians; and a member of the 1st Executive Officers of United Nations Association. Mr. Tafoya was the vice-chairman and secretary of the All-Indian Pueblo Council and the co-founder of the Indian Village, O-We-Ga-Yea, at the New Mexico State Fair. He exhibited works of art at the Inter-Tribal Ceremonial in Gallup, the Santa Fe Art Museum, the U.S. Department of Interior in Washington, D.C., and the Philbrook Art Museum in Tulsa, OK, and numerous private showings. Mr. Tafoya, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, had recently moved to Lakewood, CO. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Walter Dasheno, Edwin Tafoya, John Garcia, Wayne Gardner, Mike Dillman, and Howard Curry. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Dailey, John Rainer, Ulysses Paisano, Joe L. Gutierrez, Charles (Chuck) Hinman, Joe Sando, Albert Naranjo, and Sam Lucero. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Tessler -- Bertha Gertrude Tessler, age 78, was a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years and for that entire period was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel. She was employed by Montgomery Ward in Winrock, and retired after 20 years. She was also a member of the Women's Army Corps, from which she received an honorable discharge. She was a volunteer for the Friendship Club and the Jewish Federation of Greater Albuquerque. She was a resident of Shalom House from its very inception. She was preceded in death by her sisters Rana Adler and Clare Bloom and brother, Bernard Tessler. She is survived by her sister, Anne Felsen of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Hy Adler of Albuquerque; nephews, David and Paul Bloom, Les and Robert Adler and Michael Felsen; and nieces, Judy and Barbara Felsen. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 1998 in Fairview Memorial Park, B'Nai Israel Section, with Rabbi Isaac Celnik and Cantor Josh Perlman officiating. Following the graveside service there will be a reception and memorial service at the Shalom House. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Shalom House. .DMP
