Avolio -- Laura Jane Avolio passed away after a long illness at UNM Hospital on Friday, September 18, 1998. She resided in Albuquerque for 20 years, after moving here from Buffalo, New York. She is survived by two brothers, Lou Avolio of Albuquerque and Richard Avolio of Underwood, Indiana, along with numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Helen Petropoulos. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 1998 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. The funeral service is to immediately follow the visitation and will be held at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE, Albuquerque at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Tom Salmon officiating. Breeding -- Stephanie Anne Breeding, a resident of Albuquerque for 13 years, was killed September 12 in Seattle, Washington. Daughter of Michael and Sandra Breeding, the family moved to Washington in 1994 and are residents of Redmond. As a child she modeled for the Plaza 3 Talent Agency and was a member of the Stars dance group. She attended S.Y. Jackson Elementary School and Eisenhower Middle School. Stricken with cancer at the age of nine, she was treated at UNM Medical Center and subsequently underwent surgery to save her leg at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The Albuquerque Publishing Company flew Stephanie home following her surgery. Due to cancer treatments her heart failed and in 1993 she received a heart transplant at Presbyterian Hospital. In the spring of 1997, she was invited to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show and meet Ruth and Desiree Bruton, the mother and sister of B.J. Bruton, whose heart she received. Stephanie was fortunate to have many close friends in Albuquerque whose love and support have continued to touch her and her family's lives. Her family in Albuquerque include her grandparents, Katie and Howard Breeding; her uncles, Jeff and Dave Griffin; and cousins, Rob, Shawn and Kelsi Griffin. Stephanie was a senior at Lake Washington High School. Last Saturday evening, she was a passenger in a vehicle that went off the Evergreen Point Bridge. Witnesses and diving teams struggled for thirty minutes to rescue her from the submerged vehicle. Funeral services are being held Friday, September 18, at the Green Funeral Home in Kirkland, Washington. Busse -- Edna Lucille Busse"Eddie" Mulvaney died September 17, 1998. Eddie was born August 28, 1930 in Albuquerque where she was raised and attended Albuquerque High. She retired from Pacific Telephone, was president of Telephone Pioneers, and a member of Masonic Eastern Stars. She is survived by five children, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Richard K. Mulvaney; brother, Richard K. Mulvaney, 2 sisters, Coleen Joseph and Edith Karen Reece Chavez; many nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at the Chester T. Forney -- Jene L. Forney, 82, died Thursday, September 17, 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Jan F. Hosea and husband, Bruce of Albuquerque; and brother, Bill E. Forney and wife, Sue of Tulsa, OK. Mr. Forney was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy R. Forney in 1991. He recently moved to Albuquerque from Tulsa, OK where he lived for 75 years. Mr. Forney was a veteran of WWII as an Army Air Corps Pilot. He volunteered for the Tulsa Police Department and the Tulsa Chapter of the American Red Cross. Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver Ave, SW with the very Rev. David F. K. Puckett, Rev. Canon Byron McDougall, and Rev. Canon Rhonda S. Greer -- Jeannette Weikert Hubbs Greer, 80, passed away Thursday, September 17, 1998 at Parkwood Healthcare Community in Bedford, TX. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James"Jay" C. Greer; son, William H. Greer and wife, Juanita of Hurst, TX; granddaughters, Christi and Holly Greer of Bedford, TX; sisters, Anne Mahoney of Valley Stream, NY; brother, Manly Hubbs of Stony Brook, NY; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Lawrence Hubbs. Jeannette Weikert Hubbs Greer was born January 16, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Amanda Weikert Hubbs and Walter Ruland Hubbs. She graduated from the University of Maryland Women's College and Pratt Institute with degrees in Interior Decorating and Library Science. On May 23, 1942, Jeannette married James Cecil Greer. Jay and Jeannette moved to Albuquerque in 1953 and were proprietors of"The Lamp Shop" until her retirement in 1968. They resided in Albuquerque until declining health required a move to Texas to be near their son and daughter-in-law. Jeannette was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and active in many volunteer activities. Jeannette was a person of gentle grace and generous heart who not only loved her family, but was a wonderful example of Christian love and charity to family, neighbors, and friends. She left us with a rich heritage of understanding, nurturing and a steadfastness with which God so faithfully gifted her. As our hearts are burdened with pain and sorrow, our spirits soar with the knowledge that she is in the presence of her personal Savior, Jesus Christ. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Charles E. Price officiating. Kirk -- M. Ellen Kirk, age 82, passed away September 14, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kirk and her daughter, Pegeen Cook. Lommori -- Velda Ellen Lommori, 85, died at a local nursing home on Tuesday, September 8, 1998. She was born on March 4, 1913. Her family was extensive. Her adopted mother was Pauline Wattson died 9/30/88. Before moving to New Mexico had traveled throughout the United States, before moving to New Mexico had met and married Joseph Lommori who preceded her in death. Velda's brother, Paul Coulter died 8/13/96. Both have numerous family and friends from California to South Carolina. Throughout her life Velda was loved and always had a winning smile and a kind thought to those she met. Had owned and maintained a healthy clientele as a hair salon here in Albuquerque for many years until she retired. Prayers were offered on September 10,1 998 by Tabernacle of Living Christ for her transition to the higher realm with the Creator. Her earthly body was cremated at Sunrise Society of Albuquerque, NM. Her ashes were disposed at the Rose Garden in Rio Rancho on September 15, 1998 according to her wishes.

Ludi -- James Eugene Ludi, 69, resident of Albuquerque, passed away September 17, 1998, after sudden heart failure. Mr. Ludi was born and raised in Santa Fe, graduated from Santa Fe High School, Class of 1948, married Antonia Romero and resided in Las Cruces, NM for 22 years. Mr. Ludi was a retired electronics technician at White Sands Missile Range. He later returned to the Albuquerque area in the mid 70s. Mr. Ludi served in the Korean War, was a recipient of the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Purple Heart Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Survived by three daughters, Yolanda and husband, Eugene P. Burkeholder and children, Toni Anne and Richard of Tacoma, WA; Eugenia and husband, Rick Janecka and children, Aubri and Lee of Las Cruces, NM; and Sandra Jackson and son, Jacob of Hilton Head Island, SC; and son, Michael J. Ludi of Las Cruces, NM; sister, Cecilia and husband, Vernon Rodriguez of Rio Rancho; and numerous nieces, family members, and close friends, Ida Perez and Alice Mosse. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catarina G. Roybal; and brother, George F. Ludi. Mr. Ludi was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3, Military Order of the Purple Heart #176, and the Honor Guard. Mahar -- Viola A. Montoya Mahar of Belen, NM died September 12, 1998. She was 73 years old. Viola was preceded in death by her first husband of 38 years, Leandro Saiz Montoya and her eldest son, Anthony J. Montoya. She is survived by her present husband, John Mahar of Belen, NM; one daughter, Rosalee Montoya-Read and her husband, David Read; and children, Vincent and Marisa Trujillo, all of Albuquerque, NM; three sons, Ramon and wife, Linda Montoya of Vaughn, NM; and children, Evaristo and Nikolaus Montoya and Stephanie Montgomery and husband, David, all of Albuquerque, Leandro and Tommie Montoya and children, Tanya, Camille and Leandro Montoya III, all of Roswell, Ruben and wife Laura Montoya; and son, Andrew Montoya of Santa Fe; Judith West Montoya of Houston, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Montoya and Alycia Montgomery. Viola was born in Vaughn, NM on July 10, 1925. Viola, along with her husband, Leo, operated Leo's Exxon in Vaughn for over 30 years. During that time she was an active volunteer in local and community activities. She served as a school"room mother", dental unit chairwoman and den mother for Cub Scouts. She served for numerous years in the Vaughn PTA and was a member of the Mile High Extension Club and Beta Sigma Phi. A Memorial Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Mass celebration Friday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church in Belen, NM with Fr. Montoya -- Adam Richard. Martha S. Liebert, mother of Adam Richard Montoya, her husband, Robert K. Preston -- Richard Rogers Preston died September 16, 1998 after a long illness. Born February 17, 1916 in Chicago, IL, Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores, of Albuquerque; his son, Rich; and his daughter-in-law, Janyce of Albuquerque; and his four grandchildren, Doug of Portland, OR, Ethan of Washington, DC, and Benjamin and Rebekah of Albuquerque. Raised in the Chicago area, he was a football star and student class president of New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL. He was graduated from the University of Illinois in electrical engineering. During World War II, he worked on the development and manufacture of torpedoes. After the war, Dick worked at the Electromotive Train Division of General Motors. He and his family came to New Mexico in 1953 to begin work at Sandia Labs. He retired from Sandia in 1975 and resided in the North Valley until his death. Like most engineers, he loved to construct and repair things, especially cars. Cremation has taken place and private ceremonies will be held at a time and place to be named later. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of your choice. The family deeply appreciates the love and care of the Presbyterian Hospice Program given generously to Dick.

Mrs. Santillanes is survived by her loving children, Jose Ramon Silva, Antonio Silva and fiance, Patricia, Armando Robles and wife, Neomi, Maria Diaz and husband, Frank and Patricia Alderete. She is also survived by three sisters, Marcelina Olguin and husband, Francisco, Rosa Foster and husband, Mickey and Julia Rodriquez and husband, Marcelino; one brother, Beto Santillano and wife, Jennie; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicandro Silva. Stevens -- Richard Jay Stevens Sr., 76, died September 18, 1998, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Sally; son, Richard Jr.; daughter, Judy and her husband, Richard; and grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service held. Tetterington -- Dale Edward Tetterington, 83, of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 16, 1998 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, of congestive heart failure. He was born in Mankato, Minnesota on July 14, 1915, but was raised in Southern California. After graduating from John Muir Technical High in Pasadena, CA in 1933; he worked as a secretary to a motivational speaker for several years, then was employed by Barbara Ann Bakery, where he became the youngest sales manager in the history of the company. He left Barbara Ann to serve as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in Albuquerque in 1943, where he served for a time as adjutant for Kirtland Air Force Base. On November 26, 1943, he married Audrey Reynolds of La Canada, California at the Kirtland Chapel. Following the war, he returned to Albuquerque from California in 1946 and with his wife established Jill's Bakery, Inc., named after their daughter. Jill's Bakery, a retail and wholesale bakery, began on the site of Manuel's Grocery Store on Edith. Mr. Tetterington baked and delivered donuts which he made by hand in an 18" donut kettle. The bakery was located at 1008 Coal SE, when it was sold in 1973 and it employed 180 people. Upon retiring Mr. Tetterington traveled extensively with his first wife who died in 1987. Mr. Tetterington came to spend a great deal of time on the Big Island of Hawaii where he met Christina Smith MacKay of Cochran, Alberta, Canada. They were married in Dumfries, Scotland on June 28, 1989. After his second marriage, Dale Tetterington continued to pursue his interest in traveling with Christina until March 1997 when he suffered a debilitating heart attack. He is survived by wife, Christina Tetterington of Kailua-Kona, HI; daughters, Lynn Tetterington of Albuquerque and Jill Alfrey of Denver, CO; stepson, Allan MacKay of Cochrane, Canada; stepdaughters, Heather Sutherland of Calgary, Canada, Rhona MacKay and Robyn MacKay, both of Cochrane; brother, Wilmer Tetterington of Pamona, CA; sisters, Joyce Pierce of Claremont, CA and Beth Passage of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Private services have been held. Donations may be made in the name of the deceased to Presbyterian Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Trujillo -- Abraham Antonio Trujillo, 84, a lifetime resident of New Mexico and a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 1998. Abraham was born April 30, 1914, the son of Maxmiliano and Ignacita Roybal Trujillo in Chico, NM. He had been a coal miner for the Phelps Dodge Co. before retiring. Abraham was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Josephine V. Trujillo in July of 1997. He is survived by his six children, Fred Trujillo and wife, Bonnie of Bastrop, TX, Joanna Nilsen and husband, Sonny, Eloise Dominguez and husband, Wilfred, all of Albuquerque, Sam Trujillo and wife, Terri of Winters, CA, Susan Chavez and husband, Moises of Albuquerque, and Thomas Trujillo and wife, Flora of Los Alamitos, CA; one sister, Adelina Chene of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Lois Trujillo of Manis, VA; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho on Sunday, September 20, 1998. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, September 21, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with the interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Chacon, Jerry Peralta, Roberto Chene, William Dominguez, Shane Lukesh, and John Jones. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.

Van Langeveld -- Lillian Van Langeveld, 76 years of age, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died on Friday, September 18, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry G. Van Langeveld of Albuquerque; son, Sperry J. Van Langeveld and wife, Donna Lynn of Michigan; daughter, Lilianne V. Hastings and husband, Mark of Delaware; grandchildren; Julianne, Brendan and Miles; and many other family and friends. West -- May Eva West passed unto the arms of Her Lord, September 16, 1998 in Albuquerque. Private family funeral was held graveside Friday, September 18, 1998, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup, NM. Wilcox -- James E. Wilcox, 68, a resident of Albuquerque for 27 years, passed away September 17, 1998 after a short illness. He retired after 44 years of employment with Yellow Freight System. He is survived by his wife, Zoe Wilcox; children, Ron Wemhoner and wife, Darnell, Jan Barnes and husband, Lyle, Ginny Wilcox, Shirley Wilcox, Susan Smith, Jim Wilcox and wife, Vanessa; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; family and friends who loved and will miss him. Womack -- Leldon T. (L. T.) Womack, 68, a resident of Litchfield Park, AZ, died Friday, September 18, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Womack of Litchfield, AZ; son, Tom Womack and wife, Betsy of Albuquerque, daughter, Carol Womack of Lincoln, NE; sister, Jenell Bills of Hubbard, TX; brothers, Emmett Womack of Redding, CA and Ralph E. Womack of Capital, NM; and grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Butters of Albuquerque. Mr. Womack was born in Merkel, TX and was a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE. He was also a member of the Lincoln Rotary Club #14 and Country Club of Lincoln. Mr. Womack retired after 31 years of service from the accounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick. He was active in community and professional organizations and served in leadership roles in many of those organizations.
